While Elphy has some good and bad points I do have to side with the xiv not being as bad as it used to be. Esp since there has been leaps and bounds made by the new dev team. And alot of what we have now is in the form of unrepeatable live events. I found this article which I think is more what she should have posted since its from a gamers point of view

I also canceled but then heard a squeak about a new expansion in the works so I thought perhaps I would wait and see so I reactivated just to be 100% sure I dont loose anything. The bad thing is that I am paying for a game I am not currently playing. Im trying to keep up to date on news tho which is why I am on the forums ^^

I log in, listen to /sh to see whats going on. Aby Aby Aby WoE VW VW Aby VW. I have everything done but a coupld wotg quests, all past endgame has been corrupted or no one plays, the empy weapons are good but getting them is redundant and boring, as is all the rest of anything Magians. So I log out.

Waiting patiently on the roadmap, as we are being charged (minimally I may add) for xiv starting jan 6th I am getting a discount on ffxi for awhile so I suppose I can wait. Still they wont squeeze more than a few more months of billing out of me before I finally put the game to rest and move on, roadmap or not. Either in FFXIV if it keeps going the way its going or I will just play offline. idk we will see

Oh and p.s. I think ffx-2, ffxii, ffxiii and so on hurt the brand more than anything. Those were just aweful games. idk what se has been thinking when they approve some of these games.

Yep. They planned to just herd us like sheeple on over to the next flagship title. Oooppss guess that didn't work out as planned. Sooner they accept that reality, and do some serious work to XI instead of running the development brothers ragged the better off we'll be.

The game is to old at this point and I think a lot of the damage as been done. Don't really think there is a way to keep it going.

Being tied to PS2 is hurting it a lot as well but nothing you can do to change that really.

If there is a expansion for XIV coming out, they better give that shit to us for free for buying the game since its prob just going to be added as part of the 2.0 pack.

If you buy xiv now you get all updated v2 everything free, no charge no fuss. Just download it and ur good.

The expansion squeak I referred to was on xi's dev tracker. Which is why Im going to give xi 1 last push to see if this new expansion for ffxi is real and if it sounds at all interesting.

(side note: xiv already does have an expansion in the works but we prob wont see it til late 2013 at the earliest as its just in the beginning stages, and they need to be sure v2 doesnt tank too. They mentioned 2 new races in developement for it. A draconic and another humanoid. But Yoshi P's team is also very good at what they do, I just wish they had more ppl who knew what they were doing at se)

Did I mention we are getting boy mithra and girl galka in v2 as playable races? That alone will be a sight to see lol

Yeah I believe they were purposely trying to loose players on xi to get them onto xiv as well. And now they are backtracking and trying to save face. Oh what a complicated web we weave

As I said before...

I love how ppl who play xi will not admit xiv may have some merit or a future, even if they do not currently or have ever played the game. Its the old ffxi vs WoW thing all over again lol.

I played FF14 from release to january 2011, left just after the new guy came in charge. Everything in ths game sucked. But people had been saying it since the first week of alpha, and the devs do not listen. So many things in the game was made to piss off the player. Exping was : "1 button" smashing for hours. Guildleve: 30 minute to move to a camp, 5 minute fight, zero reward... Crafting: enter spam for 5 hours to get 1 level... Fatigue: if you exp for more than 2 hours your exp is halved... Bazar: spend 2 hours checking every other player's bazars ( half of which sell marmot's hides).. Only thing I liked was stories in class's mission and city missions ( and there weren't many). Zero battle content.

Oh look, that's what the dev team is doing in ff11 lol.

Level 95 content:
-dynamis content completed in like 4 days ( 5 THF hands, 2 MNK hand, 2 MNK feet). As expected, most the relic +2 are garbage. They add a drop to mobs in the area and call it content.
-WoE: dead before born.
-GoV: they add a ground tome in random places and call it content.
-Merit WS: they mostly suck.
-Magian trials@99: upgrades suck ( look at BLM's staves lol).
- Relic, mythic, empy 99 trials: suspense! But we all know what they will come up with.

I think i'll desactivate to till something that doesnt stink like vw, comes out.

That might very well be true. I hold out hope still that they will have an epiphany, and throw some cash at XI in one last hurrah. Honestly for me I am only here still because of the massive investment in time spent. I still have not changed to the new SE account or billing system. I went, and got a gamercard to do the crysta with months ago. However I just don't feel like jumping through hoops or dealing with shady companies just to give my $$$ to a MMO I've been a faithful customer of for 8 years.

Honestly I am kinda hoping they shut people like me off soon. Ones who haven't converted their billing. When that day comes if there hasn't been any sort of announcement or positive changes made I will just let it go.

If/when that day comes in regards to XIV I just refuse to move over out of stubborn principle. Last FF title I bought was 12. Played, and beat all previous ones. 12 sucked tho so I never bought 13. Same as with XI. It has long been neglected. Never purchased XIV.

I understand XIV has made leaps, and bounds. I also believe they will continue to pour dump truck sized loads of $$$ on it till it gets where it needs to be. Only way I would ever even consider it is if my XI account is closed, and I try multiple other MMO's from different companies, and decide they are not worth playing.

Age has nothing to do with it, at all. WoW is still king of the MMOS, and lets be honest Abyssea blew us all out of the water. It totally changed and invigorated the game for us all (that gave it a fair try), they can do that again easily...it's just down to if they want to. As for PS2, they can drop support for that if they wanted to.

Also if any serious long time player moves to FFXIV I hope you get burned again by them in the future, it's one thing to get it from FFXI but to know how they operate and willingly go back into bed with them for another MMO is asenine.

Also if they can't keep the XI playerbase happy (which isn't hard honestly, just add more content and don't make it punishing) then what hope do they have actually running and turning around a game everyone hates?

Its already be discussed before. Its not as simple as just dropping the ps2. They would have to rebuild the game from the ground up and they don't have man-power to do that anymore.
