"made by people from east" Ah yes, the entire continent + islands of asia can easily be grouped up into one single group of people. Totally.
For the most part, it seems like the cultural sensitivity thing is only in NA. Most of the rest of the world doesn't really care.
So do we also complain about FF making Shiva female when the mythological source of the name is male?
Or Hraesvelgr and Ratatoskr being dragons when in Norse mythology they're an eagle and a squirrel? (And don't get me started on Odin.)
To be fair, snakes and serpents have been called by a lot of names in the FF franchise. I think they just like using mythological names even if it doesn't follow the source material closely, if at all. And not just with serpents.
I don't really get what the purpose of this post is.
What are you trying to do?
The word "was" is carrying the world there. If you think that past influences inherently move the needle towards more cultural sensitivity then I'm going to have to disappoint you. Judaism, christianity and islam all share the exact same roots but the seperation between them is unfortunately pretty harsh in many occasions.
Yes there are people practicing hinduism in japan and while ~500k people is no small number, compared to japan's population of ~125 million that's not that many.
I understand most MMOs reusing greek/norse icons, and west is fine with it because they long left paganism, but hindus are like 1 billion or so last living pagan culture alive today not some prehistoric dead culture. There are war happening, terror attacks for cartoons, who knows what happens for drawing Bahamut.
Good job! You found an example when I said "for the most part". Never said there wasn't any.
Also, bahamut has been a stand in in final fantasy games way before ff14 so that's a carry over name from a different writing team.
I'm mainly speaking about in the entertainment media. Japanese company's very commonly use stereotypes that some would say is offensive. Just look at how black people are in anime.
Another post about religion.

Are the popotoes finding the light or something? I thought they had capitalism as their god.
Listen, that's just my personal impression about you specifically. All of your posts give me the impression that you are not who you claim you are and instead someone from a western european cultural background trying to stir up drama on the forum (which is based). From the start, the weird generalization of japanese people and hindu people as 'from the east'. The idea that the depiction as snakes is inherently something evil (which would perfectly fit into a christian background). Calling hinduism a pagan religion also feels to me like a very western viewpoint, it's essentially otherizing every non-abrahamic religion. Historically this term has a lot of negative connotations.
Pointing at the attack on charlie hebdo also feels very weirdly specific as does this weird sentence about:
Is this supposed to be a warning? I dont believe you are trying to threaten anyone here.
This is a small thing but: what about you? Dont you want to include yourself in that statement? Given how personally invested you seem, I find it weird that you arent even including yourself here.
I already said I am not interested in discussing with you after your open hate towards hindus posting in forums. i am new to this forum and from your statements it seems other hindus have posted their concerns before and your trolled them too. so thank you and bye.
The real question we should be asking is how come we don't have those snakes made of bullets from FFX-2?
UH OH let us argue about nothing. Karen this is a Game take it or leave it.
