Consistent uwu parties on JP advertising "AM Provided" or "AM Needed"..

Stop Cheating and publicly advertising it, has recent events not taught anyone what the consequences are?

For anyone who doesn't know, "Allagan melon, Allagan markets, Afflatus Misery" and all these abbreviations mean AUTO MARKER a 3rd party plugin that automarks players with the titan GAOL mechanic with a 1, 2 or 3 marker to tell you where to move.

It is 100% cheating and people should not be using it.

Titan GAOL is not that hard once you learn the mechanic.

You do NOT need a 3rd party addon to clear it.

Imagine clearing something with cheats and then being proud of yourself for clearing the content

I'm currently on titan prog, every single group is using it and it really does not feel rewarding to braindead cheat a mechanic.

You will probably need to make a static with like-minded people if you want to avoid using AM. It's pretty much completely standard in any UWU pug, and I doubt that will ever change.

The moment SQE support team actually start doing their jobs that mentality will change real quick.

How do you propose they prevent people from using AM?

The way it works is essentially undetectable, and putting stuff like "bring math" or "allagan melon" in your PF provides plausible deniability. Even if they cracked down on people adverting it in vague terms, people would still just use it and not mention it in game like they already do with ACT.

The system does, and always has needed, a real anticheat.

Players can whinge and moan all they like, but without one, even basic stuff like Bots, Cheatengine and may other 'bannable' activities go unnoticed.
Why else do we see level 1 bots teleporting all over the map, because the system has no way to detect them.

Why do people always feel the need to incessantly whine over things that don't directly affect them? Are they hunting you down and shoving it in your face that they cleared the fight? If there are PF groups that are using auto markers for UWU and you don't like it, don't join them?

anti cheat doesn't do anything,
people always find a work around and it just makes things worst for people who never used stuff like that in the first place.

How does it not directly affect somebody when other people actively use a cheat plugin in groups.

In fact that IS directly affecting you when they do it in your group.

If it only appeared on their screen, that would not affect anyone but themselves. But that is not what it does.

To explain my point:

From the raiding I have done since Stormblood, no mechanic ever in this game has prompted so many statics and pug groups to settle for automarker or an automated position callout as a standard.

Gaol conga is an unbelievably unforgiving mechanic that requires identifiying player order, dodging a landslide and positioning yourself in a precise location with minimal wiggleroom. Furthermore, if you don't form the line diagonally you may end up short if yoh don't do it perfectly.

If one would have to do it without, the best way to do it is having every player create a marker macro with their assigned order.

Attack1-5 for the first five, Bind1-3 for the last three.

However this still relies on players quickly identifiying if they have the marker, which is awfully distressing since you JUST knocked yourself into a safespot surrounded by exploding boulders.

To at least give benefit of the doubt here, the mechanic is awful.

Titan gaols isnt exactly a fun mechanic so nothing of value is being lost.

This. While I don't condone 3rd party tools for clearing stuff like ultimates, the gaol congaline is one of the dumbest mechanics they've designed and it's the one mechanic I would look the other way for if I ever did ultima again. Fully RNG targetting (except current aggro target), coupled with everyone being grouped up due to the upheaval moments before making it extremely hard to see who's got the markers for the first second of the extremely tight 3-ish seconds to react (and god forbid, 2 people call the same spot and then try to adjust for each other), makes the mechanic so much harder for all the wrong reasons.

It's no wonder people require it, no one wants to spend time wiping on that badly designed mechanic due to how insanely easy player error causes wipes with it.

Exactly; it's an age old tactic called 'Crocodile tears', and it's why they won't ever seriously enforce it. Square knows full too well the PR backlash from the fanbase if they did, along with the fact they receive all the benefits of add-ons & 3rd party programs keeping people subbed longer with things such as graphic mods. it's easier for them to just say 'no, stop it you darn kids' every now and again (and maybe ban a streamer to make an empty threat) then to actually do anything about it. Not to mention, history of the video game industry has shown the vast majority of the time developers go to war against 3rd party developers, it almost always ends badly since the 3rd party peeps have infinitely more time and it costs $0 for them compared to the company having to dedicate time & money for the devs to work on anti-cheat solutions that will get bypassed in mere days, only to have to work on them again. I have no doubts Square knows this as well, and decides to play ignorant to save money and time than to wage a battle they'll 100% lose.

The only time they do anything to a player is if there's absolute proof, which is why people love to put 'Allagan melon' or 'bring math', since it makes things less than absolute with plausible deniability and thus, out of the GM's hands.

If the mark attack target command worked like it should, I doubt AM would be so widespread. In theory if you mark yourself with the target to attack marker and then someone else does that aswell, you will get the 1 and they will get the 2. But if those two inputs dont have enough time between them (or server ticks just laugh at you) then one of the marks just doesnt get applied at all, which has a high chance of happening with how little time you have to get in place like you said.

There's a difference between an actual, well designed challenge, and the horrendously designed gaol mechanic. People aren't interested in artificially hard mechanics, they want actual challenging, but fair ones.
Death of the heavens, which involves the same basic principle of placing fully randomly targeted people with certain mechanics at certain locations in the first half in order to influence the 2nd half of the mechanic, is infinitely well more designed at accomplishing what the Titan Gaol wanted to do than the Titan Gaol itself accomplishes, simply because it gives the players time to react and adjust, and gives room for actual strategizing on how best to tackle it.

Honestly I have no idea why other people care what others do in game when the people they are annoyed about make the parties, titan gaols is a garbage mechanic regardless I honestly couldn’t care less if the meta is to use AM, I can’t imagine being so fragile as to think that makes my UWU clear feel less impactful

Not directly relevant, but I personally also think that for various people the definition of "cheating" and actually HARD cheating is a bit foggy. Like people call small UI mods cheating already (i.e. buff/debuff timers on partylists or seeing Shield HP on your normal HP+MP UI, or Job Icons in nameplates), which is baffling to me.

Arthars put up this discussion the other day. There is like "soft" stuff that is like "yeah this should already be in the game" and then ofc the memery this one guy put up in Dragonsong's Reprise Ultimate with the zoom hack and the minimap showing all AOEs.

I wish people would stop losing all rationale and benefit of doubt when they see a single thing Yoshi P said a negative thing about.

It isn't even difficullt either, it uses essentially the same tech that the partylist shield uses and just draws an overlay over your Parameter HP. It's brilliant.

I don’t know when the change happened but the shield length is no longer proportional to your actual HP (so like it used to be if the shield covered 30% of your HP bar and you had 10k HP the shield was about 3k) so I hope they implement that, it would make mitigation planning a specifically around spreadlo so much easier knowing how much I’m actually shielding for

im going to agree with a lot of these other folks and say goal conga is an absolute garbage mechanic that isn't fun or challenging beyond it being a massive clusterfuck that you can barely process. i don't blame the players. i blame SE for designing it. also people seem to forget that yoshi p has stated several times that anti-cheat software is illegal in JP due to it invading your PC.

side note: i have never heard of it being called allagan melon before but thats kind of a cute name.

Anticheat potentially creates vulnerabilities and reduced performance for legitimate users without mitigating cheating.

I think it would be more beneficial for GMs to moderate this more harshly. Something like Nael or Gaol AM is clearly marking people before the thunders or markers are even visible, a GM could see that and action the account doing this if it's reported.

I think we don't have enough GMs, and I think reporting Cheating is too difficult. Why do I have to go to a separate website to report cheating? I only want to fill out a form in-game. This makes reporting very inconvenient. Then, the report goes to the Special Task Force. I feel the language barrier affects the efficacy of my report, or that they're so overworked that it's never resolved.

Yet I would still rather have human GMs.

Damn did titan gaols ravage someone's village or something lol

I wouldn't say it's the best designed mechanic but I don't recall it being that bad. My group did fine with a simple 1-7 priority system; each player was assigned a priority and when titan gaols were assigned you called your number and based on the other numbers called that was where you'd go with your gaol.

I personally dislike any gameplay affecting 3pt like AM, cactbot or those crazy mods that show aoes or the minimal. But that said I also found a group that feels likewise so :shrug:. It's funny doth is brought up though, I couldn't help but think of titan gaols when progging doth.
