Please give us instant housing

Change up the wards all you want, go ahead and add a few more wards, it will never be enough.

All this does is limit us and make tons and tons of more players unhappy. We all want a house. Apartments are great but we are very limited to them and seeing others have things we don't make us upset knowing we can't get them. It's not really fair to the rest of the community when only the lucky few get it. FFXI was capable of allowing everyone to get their own apartment while also being able to decorate it and it was a MUCH older game. No one really cares about our neighbors, please let us have our own houses and allow us to upgrade them through achievement or something.

I can't get a personal house as I'm bidding against 300+ people while I'll soon never be able to upgrade my FC house because the wards are being switched to provide more personal houses...

I would like a real fix than just a bandaid that's so temporary...

Would instant housing require a microwave or would it be stovetop like regular housing?

do a collaboration event with nissin cup noodles so we can get cup noodles walls and glams, cup noodles mount, etc.

Many of us have been asking for improvements to the current instanced housing system for years. It would be nice to hear from SE why it will or will not happen.

And agreed, being able to correct titles for our threads would be a nice QOL improvement. But as serious as the topic is intended to be, try to look at the light side: the typo has brought a few smiles to a forum that has been mostly doom and gloom of late.

Any day you can bring a smile to someone's face is a good day. Your topic isn't reduced at all by the clearly unintentional error as the meaning is perfectly clear to us - but it brings joy and giggles. If anything, it becomes a positive thread that carries more weight.

Instanced housing would solve so many problems, and the ward system doesn't have to be dismantled to provide it. Additionally, Island Sanctuary should really be putting to bed the "we can't do instancing because servers are hard to come by" community invented excuse. And I stress that "invented".

I am so tired of people trying to come up with inventive ways to redistribute what we have. Take houses off players who do 'x'...
('...and give one to me', presumably)

I am so tired of people inventing excuses for Square. This house shortage has been going on for as long as I've been playing the game (HW). The least the devs could do is come out and make a statement on the state of housing and the reasoning behind it.

The lottery is just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. The present system doesn't give EU and NA players enough houses, the lottery is not going to improve supply and supply is the issue.

Island sanctuary proves they had resourses available that could give every single character a private instance, that's a lot more instances than would be needed for every interested player to get a private house.

The lottery system is just more intimidating than a real fix. I use to feel I had SOME KIND OF CHANCE with IDK maybe a 20% or something when the clicking war was a thing. Now when I place a bid, I feel I have a 0.000something chance. The only fix is we don't have to sit in front of the plot for a whole day. In return, we now see how many people are after a house with not enough being provided. I hope this change from clicking war to bidding is more of an eye-opener to SE as it is to the players on how many are competing for a house and how many are disappointed in not getting one.

I know people who want a house but won't bid because the odds of winning are just way too insane. It's like trying to win a lottery... but the prize is only a digital house so it's not even worth stressing over half of the time. When I go place a bid, I expect to lose and call the deadline 'The Day I Get My Gil Back.'

Are you saying the hundreds of thousands of people living in apartments / flats don't have a home? There are people that are content with a 6ft x 6ft square. Often paying beyond-stupid prices for it (you need only look at flats in London / New York as example.) that seems intellectually dishonest. the people in London deal with a 6ft by 6ft square because there is no other choice at their income level, not because they think its somehow the pinnacle of housing.

That's not a "Quitter" mentality. SE is a business and currently, people grandfathered in brings in.. Probably not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but it is guaranteed every month. People going on the "offensive" and attacking the house hoarders for what they've done (which is play by the rules, more often than not) really only works to SEs favor, as that (potentially) annoys / irritates said hoarders, making them hold onto the houses just to spite you.

And before you make any remarks about the hoarders being spiteful.. Yes. Humans do this. A lot.

I am aware people in London aren't very big fans of the fact they are paying stupid prices for a box. Believe me.. There's a whole lot more wrong than what was stated but the point was more-so that they very much TRY to make that small space work. They try to make it comfortable. (some of them, at least. I know a few that still use a box for a dining table, but I digress)

The point was that they made the small space work as best they can. So if they can do that, why can't people settle for Apartments? That was the connection I was trying to draw. A rather poor one in hindsight, but I can't really change that now, can I?

I'm just hearing excuses from this so you can feel you're not a quitter when literally all you're saying is 'just give up'. That's LITERALLY being a quitter despite whatever your excuse is. No one is even saying anything about house hoarders here... you're literally bringing that argument yourself. Also, why does it matter to you if I want to try and fight and shout my feelings to SE to try and get not just me but tons of people who don't have a house the instance housing zone, that way more people can be happy and not feel left out due to terrible luck and SE's terrible housing system that's VERY limited.

So you admit you are against instance housing because you are afraid of losing all the houses you have in the wards. That's very selfish of you.
Meanwhile there are tons of people without a house that I'm fighting for. I already have my own house too, but I don't feel the housing system is fair. I'm willing to lose my house and get a new one so everyone can have a more fair chance to get a house.

I have a nice Ishgardian mansion and a solo FC in Kugane. I'm also totally in favor of instanced housing provided they do it alongside wards and not instead of them. One simple reason: other people having more does not mean I have less. As long as you're not taking away my land, you can create all the land you want and give it to everyone, and I'll be happy to see them smile.

I just know if they implemented instanced housing where I could purchase the equivalent to the large I own in the housing district, I'd demolish my ward house and just buy instanced. There. Frees up a house for someone who prefers the wards.

In other words: It is a good solution and I wish we'd get some feedback as to why it's not feasible but giving everyone entire islands for Island Sanctuary is.

That's not a bad thing, as the systems in place (especially with Lottery making it even easier to get involved.. Whole can of worms for another thread, methinks) certainly aren't on your side. But anyone / everyone that champions this "instanced housing or riot" argument continue to ignore what answers you've been given. (I know of ONE person that recognizes those answers and thats Jojoya)

When Lottery was introduced, XIV showed that they know there's an issue. They probably also looked into this very forum to see for ideas, or general guideposts. They chose Lottery because thats what people were screaming for. Now that Lottery was added, as per their requests, people hate it. Despite them being the reason it was introduced in the first place. I stand by my previous comments months ago, actively stating that Lottery won't help anyone and, shocker, It didn't. Your desire will not be met, so long as SE holds stubbornly to their "Neighborhood" desire for housing. Constantly calling each other trolls or going at each others throats for differing opinions doesn't help.

And, so long as SE remains that grip on Neighborhoods, your desire for INSTANCED housing is dead in the water. We can't really force SE to change their mind and constantly berating each other is never going to help. They need to fix the supply.. Granted, fixing the supply involves Instanced housing, since even with their upgraded servers and such, there's only so many wards the game can really handle per server before something snaps.

But the fact that "instanced housing" is the answer, it comes with a whole massive list of issues. Such as trying to make Instanced Housing in such a way that the Ward houses keep their appeal. Many people have discussed how ward houses keep said appeal and it differs, varying from "you can visit it in the real game world" to "making instanced housing have reduced crossbreeding". There's no clear consensus as to what people want outside of a house and by golly, they seem to want to do literally anything to get one. It's not so clear cut than people think.

And before any snarky comment about "Ward housing appeal". It's the older system, that SE wants to maintain. You best bet they want to keep the people who already own a house locked into that house. If Instanced housing was deemed "better" then SE loses out. No company would take that deal.

That instanced housing would be inferior depends on how SE designs it.

If they moved RIFT Dimensions into FFXIV, I wouldn't hesitate to give up my ward house. That was hands down the best housing system I've experienced in a MMO. For those who talk about "wanting a neighborhood feeling" some of the RIFT Dimensions were big enough to build your own neighborhood with multiple friends (I built an entire village in one with multiple houses, school, restaurant, town hall, park with pond, etc.).

It's true that some people get an obsessive desire for things they cannot have but it is not true of a majority of people let alone everyone. Most players would be more than happy with an instanced system done well. Even if they already own a plot, they're tired of living in ghost towns with almost no activity. Those players moving into an instanced system would free up plots for those who see a benefit to owning a ward house.
