The thread will probably turn back up, but pruned of some comments. That seems to be how they have to handle removing troublesome comments. But anyway, people complain about the game all day long here, that in itself isn't an issue, so have at it.
Usually when a discussion devolves into personal jabs, insults or an overall uncivil discussion the mods come in to either clean a thread up and put it back or nuke it into oblivion. Guess we'll find out which soon.
Eh, not entirely sure about that.

I just checked OPs started threads and could find it that way
It's early MSQ content and had to be completeable by everyone. it also has been insanely overgear cheesed. There is something to be said for properly scaling old content so that people running it don't get the experience you had.. but I'd say right now those fights are more like interactive cutscenes than actual fights.
I've yet to run an expert where the healer is straight up not needed if people are full pulling unless absolutely everyone is cap gearscored, fooded up and perfect rotating. Stuff hits pretty hard, healers do have stuff to do. However I think that they really should have OTHER things to do rather than healing or the two button shuffle.
Gathering, treasure maps, hunts, sidequests, beastmen quests.. there's some stuff. There could be more stuff.. but there's some stuff.
Does it have to be?
you will never escape rude players. No matter what you believe from the opposing narrative sides of "FFXIV is utopia" or "FFXIV is the most passive agressive toxic community ever"... all games have rude people. You're just not going to get away from this. People who scramble for status or unique rewards they can lord over others tend to be competitive and insecure. that's just the kind of person it attracts.
so.. you assumed and ran with that.
Savage and normal are so very different. Honestly most savage runs for alexander content are unsynced roflstomps. Most people who are grinding savage have no idea what the actual mechanics aside from teamwiping checkpoints are.
I guess it doesn't occur to people that the reason particular threads are removed aren't necessarily "cuz you critique muh game" but rather because people devolved the relevant threads into a counterproductive slugfest that either needs removing entirely or cleared out.
That thread was hardly heading towards a good direction, even within the few posts it actually had in the first place.
lol it's the 2nd time today my posts have been yanked. I thought it was a me problem. But yeah they're likely just making the thread more civil again, whatever that means for this forum
Not many people would be running them, but if they have prog'd the fight in the past for a significant amount of time then the chances are they would have a good recollection of the mechanics.
But if I were to be frank, it's probably leaning more towards the - People don't like dying so they make excuses vibe
Some of the level 60 savage content is the fastest way to get the light for the level 60 relics. Even when unsynced back in StB you would see some of the mechanics that are handled differently than in normal. So if they were used to doing that, it's likely the reason.
Yes, which means you need an extra DPS to counter the fact that your tank is on a time limit for each pull. However if you just yoinked the healer from the normal , as designed, dungeon run, you have to play perfectly (and with maxxed stats) to not need a healer. "People can do this if they play by broken rules" isn't an indicator the content isn't balanced or thought out. There is an incredibly broad spectrum of skill levels and engagement considered for the glut of the content. The current holy trinity covers this. Do you WANT to not have any other options? Is a game only designed well if the rigid defined way the devs want you to pass content is the only way?
Everyone is not you. Lots of people find the dungeons at least engaging. If it's too easy for you there are harder things available, however the majority of the player base doesn't seem to engage in it.. so maybe that level of challenge is not what they're after?
You used one line of text to make that assumption really.
Bummer you're giving up though. There is a lot more to this game than what you seem to have covered. However I do hope you find a game you like and that entertains you fully. There are a TON out there.
Yep. Game is not for everyone. No game ever will be or can be since this world is full of so many different people.
The forums are a microscopic representation of the player base. ENTIRELY TRUE! The funniest part though is all the drama and fearmongering, doomsaying and accusations I see here are absolutely tiny minorities in the game when I play it. If the actual game was populated with all the presented personalities and insane moral stances I encounter here? I would NEVER login.
Weird though it seems to just be another online game where most people are reasonable humans that are logging in to play their favorite video game for a few.
I'm not surprised you feel censored since 1 of your 4 posts since joining got nixxed (I posted in it btw so I was wondering where it went too but I'll say it was going south real fast) , but there's LOTS of negativity still here. I'd say it's the majority of the forum posts really. It's hilarious to say that any criticism is removed when about 70% of the topics here OR MORE are straight up just people grousing about what they hate.
Agree OP on most of the points apart having not knowledge about your last point
So your complaint is that the game is too easy without having played at max level? Old content is always easy in any MMO. If you make it hard people will quit before they even get to max. Imagine being stuck on a fight for days unable to progress - doesn't sound like a good time to me. Tons of challenges await you at 90 and that's the way it should be in my honest opinion.
I do agree however that dungeons in general are too easy. "Extreme" dungeons are a complete joke and I clear them daily without knowing any of the tactics whatsoever.
There literally a topic about not liking Endwalker.
Stop lying for attention, TC.
Well, at the very least, if you want to say anything about the game, say it on the healer forum! The developers never check it!
FFXIV is a story oriented game. You play for the story and stay for whatever reason you want (Glamour farming, Raids, housing, etc).
I wouldn't really recommend the game to anyone if they wanted a hardcore raiding or PvP experience because FFXIV doesn't really do hardcore. Yeah, you can be a hardcore Triple Legends raider that parses night and day until you're in the 99% percentile but considering that the content is so formulaic in nature that even a new player can access and clear raids given the drive to, it's not really all that special an achievement.
The game is very casual focused. If you want a nice easy going MMO with a good story that also lets you just chat with friends and do whatever strikes your fancy, then FFXIV is perfect for you. If you want challenge, I suggest looking elsewhere because while the Savages and Ultimates are fun, they're also few and far between.
The real funny part is that the casual content does have some "hardcore" grinding involved. Triple Triad mount, Firmament and the score/mount achievement, Chocobo racing and breeding for the perfect bird, ect. Of course the game is easy, everyone saw what happened to the game between 1.0 and ARR. At this point the game feels more relaxing than ever and that's okay. There are plenty of other games if you want some legit challenge. No one is stopping you from playing your favorite game, go for it!
Yep, I joined the game because of it's non-hardcore stance, and I am more interested in investing time in the side activities like the aforementioned chocobo racing or things like gathering and crafting than I am in cooperative high end combat content, which, IMO, is never truly compatible with MMORPG trappings... I'm surprised hardcore raiding hasn't moved to its own genre at this point, where you just have raid design, parses, skill rating, etc., and not much else.
I know for a fact this happens to me going from Extreme Trials to Normal or Hard ones. Mechanics are different enough where after farming EX for so long going back to the "easier" version could honestly be harder. One of the biggest pains of this was Shiva EX back in the day where in normal you don't share the sword attack but in EX you do. So you see the attack go, "Gotta stack with the party" and then kill half the dps because it's not EX. Or just straight up expecting certain mechanics that don't appear.
I don't know what happened, I missed the other thread, but if now the moderators are taking action and "censoring" the forums this is good.
I remember a while back there were multiple, nasty topics on the main page full of homophobia and they remained there for a looooong time. It's about time these forums get moderator attention.
I'm just happy to have a sign that the forums are still moderated. It's been awhile since we have had moderation.
The forums could use a bit more moderation, if anything. There are several threads where it's the same two people speaking past each other and could as well just take it to PMs.
These forums are better moderated than Novice Chat, that's for sure.
OP purged their opening post, but I just wanted to comment on this—
Even in HW—at launch—Thordan’s normal trial was a joke and a bit of a let down. I remember getting there and my friend who brought me into this game telling me that the fight was a wonderful cinematic, but extremely easy and a bit anticlimactic in that aspect. That’s not really the result of gear/item level cheesing. That’s just a poorly tuned fight.
HW was, frankly, full of those.
That said, it was rectified with all future expansions providing a final boss that actually feels like one, while still being great in terms of cinematic impact. So OP at least has that to look forward to.
Just because it’s story content doesn’t mean it needs to be a dummy fight. Which Thordan is, and always has been. That just creates for a disappointing ending to an epic.
On topic—
Critiques tend to be removed if they are hostile in nature. That said, I have seen completely valid and respectful posts removed in the past. My first warning I ever got on here was for critiquing the lack of in-game tools to help teach rotations—I was polite in my criticism, and I wasn’t arguing with anyone; just stating outright that I didn’t like that. And my post was removed and I was issued a warning.
But I think moderation has since lightened on this. Criticism is necessary to growth—even the negative criticism. It’s all in the delivery, usually, that determines whether a post will stay or be removed. People don’t always come from a bad spot when they criticize. A lot of criticism can come from people loving something and simply wishing to see it improved.
