Another Pagos Feedback Post

So at the risk of getting bullied for 'complaining' I'm going to offer the feedback someone who works a full time job, has a family and has been playing since 1.0.

First and foremost, because this is what some LOVE to hassle people about, I'm not opposed to the grind. I've completed multiple relics in ARR and HW and spent hours in Anemos actually having fun and I'm 4 lvls short of having my main at 70 on everything. I don't expect anything to be handed to me. Period, end of story.

I don't mind working for things. I enjoy the challenge, what I don't like is what Pagos has done to me. I HATE it with a fiery passion; to the point that I've just given up at lvl 35 with 2 Louhi ices, 11 frosted and 488 Pagos crystals.
The thought of going back knowing that I'll spend 3 hours killing the same mob over and over and over again while seeing maybe 5 Fates, is disheartening. (yes, this is after the supposed NM 'nerf')

And on top of that the idea of getting more than one relic is out of the question. (Here's where I'm going to be told to do Savage content - and here is where I say that I do and it isn't really about the ilvl of the weapon, but rather the fact that I got a cool shiny new sword)

I would assume that the idea for the low drop rate of EVERYTHING is that this is only for the weapons and to keep people busy between content lulls, but this isn't fun. This is another job and not a fun one. This is that soul stealing job you've been looking to leave forever and just can't seem to find a new one.

If this is supposed to be the 'alternative' method for getting higher level weapons for people not wanting or able to do Savage (some people can't fit raids into their schedules), then Pagos really isn't going to fit well with them. One of my FC people said that if you straight up did nothing but grind light, you could get 1 to 2 frosteds and hour, best you can hope for it is 15.5 hours. More than likely you are looking at something more in like with 29-30 hours. This is a job.

• Light needs to be seriously rethought. I just reached 35 and have 11. We should at least have enough for 1 relic by the time we hit 35. I would be far less disheartened if I wasn't looking at another grind on top of the grind to 35.
  
• Louhi Ice - why 5 and have him drop 2??? This makes no sense, what are people supposed to do with that extra ice? Get another relic? ((see comment about light))

I want to fuss about Pagos crystals, but really, by the time I manage to amass enough light for one weapon, I'll have enough crystals.


((oh, and I could deal without the one way cliffs in the new Eureka, even at 35 they are torture))

That's because you used NMs to level instead of chaining. Those that chained had about enough frosted crystals as they reached lvl 35.

I did nothing but chaining and when got to level 35 still lacked 11 frosted crystals and 100 pagos crystals to get my first weapon. Weekly log for pagos should be changed to give out frosted crystals once your level 35. Light need to be really buffed or lower amount frosted crystals you need for each weapon.

I still need 13 more frosted crystals and another Louhi ice. Not sure I even want to bother; my main goal at this point is getting Louhi's card and then dropping Pagos like a hot popoto.

I went in today and it was dead as disco! Not even 10 people in the instance. Went in multiple times and the same handful was there.

I feel like the one part nobody is talking about is that the story isn't even worth it. ARR at least had Gerolt, who is an amazing character. And HW had his interactions with you and another person, and also a lot more humorous and fun because it feels like you're developing a living being.

Eureka? It's just a retelling of certain parts of FFV. And FFV is far more fun than this, so I'd rather not play it and just go play FFV... which is what I've been doing. So what I'm saying is, it's disappointing... because instead of wanting me to play further into FFXIV and Eureka as a whole, it makes me want to play V more than the game itself... isn't that the opposite of what content in an MMO supposed to do?

Guess that's just me. I haven't stepped into the place getting close to 32. I don't plan on finishing leveling up, or a weapon... let alone step into the next place they have coming out next.

EDIT: THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO FINISHED EVERY WEAPON AND ARMOR PIECE OF ANEMOS, HAS 4 HW ANIMAS AT THE FINAL STEP, AND I'M GOING BACK TO THE ARR STEP BECAUSE I WANT GLAMOR. And I especially want Gae Bolg, that dragoon spear is one of my favorites. What I'm saying is, I'd much rather do books than Pagos.

I'm considering dropping more than just pagos like a hot popoto LOL if this is how it's gonna be from here on and the content of 4.4 doesn't get my interest back (cause pagos really burned my interest quite a bit) I'll most likely end up dropping the game as much as I like it..the content being like this is just off putting.

Yes, the light step really needs a hit from the nerf bat hard. Got my one relic and i'm done until it's nerfed into oblivion.

That's not factual. I did a lot of chaining before the NM EXP was tripled, and I didn't get a single thing from any of that. I'm level 35 and I just hit 400 snowflakes and I'm at 10 1/2 cheez-its

Nope, I did the vast majority of my leveling on chaining, 2.5 challenge logs and some NMs.

SE needs to at least explain their most efficient method of light farming they have hinted at in the past. There's nothing that points to this best method that we know of, and having that information could change things.

That requires them to own up that it was a dumb idea to hide this info, though.

I'm a fan of eureka (Working on 3rd weapon), but there needs to be a lot of things added if they want the mass majority to continue on. They need to remove the train and add in things to do outside of killing mobs and NMs. Need more dynamic fates like seiges, camp take overs, escorts. More group oriented content like Leve quests and smaller party locked NMs, Make mobs use mechanics and abilities sooner, make people actually have to move, improve on bunnies, and most importantly anything that's required for the relic make it a reward in everything they add.

My biggest concern with eureka is they'll add one shallow piece of content (Bunny fates) and then revert the content back to favor the train mentally.

I actually had similar thoughts. Fortunately, or unfortunately, no other game holds my attention like this one, even in lulls. I just want it to be better.

I'm not sure why people are so against the train. It was fun and social. Far more social than Pagos has been. Everyone in Pagos is just bitter and miserable. Anemos is still pretty fun (at least the instances I've been in). /shrug I know to each their own, but Pagos is nothing but a failure in my mind. (Cheers, btw on the 2 relics :-) )

I wouldn't be against something more dynamic. Perhaps objectives like the other relics had in the 'outside' world would help.

I think the issue people have with the train is that you have a large number of people AFKing nearby or in town, only for them to become active after a small number of people kill the requisite adds for a NM to spawn.

I'd rather have that, though, than an experience where everyone is isolated into little groups and it takes two hours before an NM shows up. The past few days, I've had to spawn Louhi with small amounts of people and the only issue I had was that Level 35 people kept leaving to do low level NMs like Snow Queen, causing us to need an extra night for preparation.

Yes, Exactly! A bunch of us were really disappointed with the whole quest line and at 35 we were like, 'did anything actually happen.'

Yes! It would keep the challenge log as something viable to do, because as of right now, no one at 35 is going to touch it.

Literally nothing happened in Pagos. The sole revelation is that the vague thing Anemos mentioned that Galuf sealed was revealed to be a Primal. Aside from that, the most plot relevant scene was Ejika stating he was jealous of Krile and the WoL.

The next patch trailer showing

Ejika with Zantetsuken

makes me think the developers want me to believe something is going to happen next time, but after two instances of fluff, I'm beginning to become skeptical.

It would be a shame if they tried to do something interesting in the next Eureka zone, because they failed to do anything interesting in the first two and turned a ton of people off of the content.

yeah like. I don't wanna unsub, but the content is just gonna be lame if it stays like this..I'm hoping 4.4 keeps me interested cause pagos sure hasn't.

4.4 won’t keep you interested, it’s going to be the same thing as the previous patches. First 4.4 then 2 weeks later savage then the 6 month wait for 4.5.

Then the cycle repeats while you still question why you’re still subscribing when all you do is sit in town and stare at your screen.

I’ll try to tell you the same thing before 4.5 comes out.

Pagos was released at a really poor time, as well, with the WoW expansion being out. It was either grind the same mob for hours upon hours for a weapon that's the same level as my mendacity one or play a new expac of a game. Now I'm trying to get into Pagos and having trouble bringing myself to do it at level 23 with no mount, no aetherytes and a huge crystal grind that's hurt by NMs being the best way to level.

Basically I have not been back in on my main after finishing my first weapon since the content the way it is currently is physically painful to me. Chain grinding for hours is not good on the hands at all and when you are a person with arthritis in your hands this content causes extreme pain. I checked things out on an alt after the changes but it still feels terrible especially on a lvl 20ish character. Trying to even find a group is rough since there is no party level sync feature. If you join the "train" you still don't actually get to do many fates as people don't wait for the walkers and fates do not pop consistently the way they do in Anemos so you can be in one spot and something across the map pops. You can see an entire lock out go by with a fate that people were grinding mobs for not show up.

Things that need to change: 1) add in an option to sync to party level. 2) make the fates work like they do in Anemos aka get rid of whatever arcane relation to the bunny fate or other weird factors that currently make fates not pop after the mob grind is done. 3) up the light farm and make the chain timer longer so people don't have to go non stop to do things. I can't imagine that the game designers want players to hurt themselves doing the relic grind so something needs to happen here. 4) Add in alternative ways to get the relics like there were in HW. You could do tomestones, hunt seals, or beast tribe tokens for the unidentifieds back then. So why not let people buy crystals with tomestones if they want. (Surely Rowena would approve of this ;)). 5) Remove the de-level factor. Let people explore without the potential of losing hours worth of work just because they wanted to see where that bunny was taking them. 6) Reduce the level needed for the northern aetherites and the ability to use our mounts again. 7) get rid of the sleepy dragons and buff light from other sources like letting all mobs mutate or adapt in any time / weather.

You need groups to chain. I didn't play every single day when Pagos came out. So I got a few levels behind everyone else. When I did start to actively play every night and prior to the NM changes, I spent 5 days at level 28 because I couldn't get chain groups or they would split after a single run to 30. I had trouble putting my own together, because the instances were top heavy, so finding people behind like me was very difficult. The content was already starting to die. Now that the NM train is back, chain parties are pretty much nonexistent unless they are max level for light. So for many players, you're not going to level up if you don't use NMs.

Same. Pagos and their tone deaf delivery of it really killed any interest that I had in this game.
Also I'm not too thrilled with their sticking their fingers in their ears and going "lalalala our obnoxious, boring relic grind we shoved down your throats isn't boring and obnoxious, no really, honest! lalalalala"
and for the rising, instead of addressing how adding rng to a timed event was stupid they went on and on about the rings. TONE. FRIKKIN. DEAF.

my sub will probably last a few days into 4.4 but at the rate they are going I doubt I'll renew.

Few corrections. Savage will release at the same time as 4.4 proper. They have only delayed it two weeks after an expansion launch. And 4.45 will come in 5-6 weeks, which will bring us Pyros (hold your applauds lol) and then in roughly fourteen weeks 4.5 releases. My estimated date is January 8th. The six month lull will come here since there won't be anything left except the expansion. Unless those leaks about Blue Mage turn out to be true.

Your point still stands though, and it's something that needs to change come 5.0. Someone in one of my discord's asks, "What new things have they done with Stormblood?" And honestly? Three things can be considered "new." Ultimate, Perform and Rival Wings. Of those three things, only one has remained relevant beyond a month. Too bad it's content only for top tier raiders. When the best content you release is an extremely difficult raid very few people can or even want to clear, your expansion isn't going very well. Everything else has been copy/paste in some form or another. Given how stubborn they have been regarding Eureka, it makes me think the bulk of their budget went into it and they're desperately trying to get people in there because they have nothing else until 5.0.
