Yoshi-P making a big mistake with what yall doing the housing

It is not fair that people that saved money can't get a house because of your team decides that yall want free companies to have first pick. People want there own houses. Free company shouldn't be aloud to get first choice but the players need to be able to get themselves a house before free companies do.

So why can't yall just give the players what they want by letting them get there own houses and let free companies go first?

Because 1 FC house can benefit more than just the one person who likely won't even share their own house with tennants? Also FC rooms are cheaper than apartments so there's also a boon in that

It's totally not because FC Factories are a thing *cough* Airships/Submarines*cough*, and they originally screwed up housing when it first came out with what they originally said.

Let the FCs have their housing first. Hell, you're in an FC that doesn't have a house. You'd think people like that would be a bit more happy they have a better chance to get a place. You could even make your own jump puzzles with housing items.

Life isnt fair. And the housing system certainly isnt "fair" or "good" either.
But letting FCs have first pick is the right choice - there is special FC-content gated behind housing. There are FC-rooms and apartments for individuals.

SE apparently cant give us what we want - unlimited housing - because of the way their system is set up. And they've made it very clear that thats not gonna change - even though they're apparently looking into medium and large apartments, so basically instances houses and mansions. Right now its not possible for everyone to have a house - and no matter how much we cry and complain about it, it wont magically change tomorrow. They're working on it. Being asked to be patient sucks, I know that. But this horse is dead. We dont need a new thread beating it everyday...

I wish they'd just make the wards FC only, give everyone with a personal house in the wards a free instanced house and open up unlimited instanced housing for the rest of the pop. But then the servers would probably explode.

I suppose I can't deny I'm biased because I have a personal house already, but I think it's fair to allow Free Companies to have access to housing before individual users.

While I enjoy having my house, and I'm sure many others do, the primary functions of a house are definitely geared towards Free Companies. There are so many FCs that aren't able to acquire a house because there are too many personal estates out there. That said, I do wish the regulations were a bit stricter. I feel like the size of the plot an FC is purchasing should be a direct correlation the amount of active members in their respective FCs. I don't like the idea of an FC with less than a couple dozen active members owning a mansion, for example.

Why not? A smaller FC somehow has less right to an abundance of gardening? A smaller FC is perfectly capable of utilizing an FC house in the same way as any other FC. Their members can work just as hard at workshop tasks and decorating. They can have just as meaningful gatherings or FC business meetings as any larger FC. You're basically saying the idea of being a "legitimate" FC is based only on numbers.

They did originally promise personal housing would be a different system...

And even on systems like this, other MMOs manage to implement things like automatically adding wards when existing ones get 80% full or so.

Ah, I did forget about the gardening plot size restrictions, you're right about that.

Still, I'm just thinking of it in a logical manner. An FC that has a lot of members would need a bigger house than one with fewer. I don't feel it right for an FC with few people to own a mansion and potentially cost an FC with many members from having access to housing that would be suited for their needs in terms of players. Of course that's presumptive since there are a lot of players out there who don't really have anything to do with their respective FC's housing. As for the "legitimate" comment, I have no idea how what I said makes you think that. How many members your FC has or doesn't have has nothing to do with the legitimacy of an FC, and I said nothing to the contrary.

Honestly, this type of housing should have never been opened up as personal housing in the first place, the systems were promised to be different and then as we've gone SE has just dug their grave of mistakes deeper and deeper. I do hope they're working to fix the system, and I am fine with FCs having first grabs.

Personal Housing should've been separate from the get go.

Originally only FCs were allowed to buy houses. Then they opened it up to everyone and then people got extremely greedy and acted like the Donald Trump of their server. You're going to have to deal with the pain of them fixing the mistakes they shouldn't have made in the first place.

This makes sense and should've stayed this way since housing was introduced. That's all there is to it.

As much fun as it is to gripe and moan about what SE has done to the detriment of housing, how about providing solutions like....

....making FC-exclusive wards, because the major issue that devs seem to be focused on is that some players own multiple houses on a server while up-and-coming FCs can't get a single one. By making wards with plots that only FCs can get, this would not only allow for a qualitative expansion of housing, but it would also enable an increased potential for communications opening up between FCs on a server. The other alternative for expanding FC housing would be....

....banning individuals from buying mansions, which I know is a bit harsh to those with way more money than they know what to do with, but this would be another means of allowing FCs better access to housing. The only problem with it would be getting individuals with mansions to give those up, which wouldn't likely happen unless....

....players could get reimbursed for voluntarily surrendering their housing plot rather than letting it sit there and wait until that timer runs out, which is amazing because can you remember the last time that demolition timer wasn't stopped or stalled for some reason? Me neither. Anyway, by providing greater incentives for people who, for example, own multiple houses to surrender a plot or a just taking a break from a game to give up their sole housing plot, that would also open up housing for both FCs AND individual active players to take up. 70% of the plot price sounds like a fair enough of a reward for those who surrender their plots either manually or by running the demo timer out (might need to be less of a reward there), and if there is any reason why SE would wish to stop that timer, they can instead just increase that reward to 100% of the plot and permit price while being able to keep the timer going.

I'm sure there are better ideas, but I'd much rather figure out what SE can do now rather than whine about what they've already done.

Personally I wouldn't care if they allowed cross gardening in an apartment. Thats the only thing I miss about having a house. Giving that to FC is very unbalanced. FC don't give access to the garden to the members and alot of those benefits become only accessible to the guild leader...

That's been happening for years. The FC chest is a major boon to guild farmers/sellers as it allows them to congregate the money the bots are making into one big pile. If any of them are doing it for the house I'd be amazed.

The main thing that really rubs me the wrong way about the whole housing thing is that people who privately own a house are free to relocate, even to a larger house. So after all this, previous owners are likely going to be the only ones who can even own a large, or maybe medium depending on server, privately. The rich get richer and those without a private house are up the creek.

I really do hope they allow players who don't own houses to garden. If they start allowing players to garden without houses some of the problems will be solved. Hopefully they learn to not gate so much content behind such a limited resource..

I can't like this enough. Gardening, airships, and now they added submarines. I get they want to encourage people to be in FCs, but even FCs can't access it if they don't have a house

A obvious solution would been to have wards for FC only or instanced but that will probably never happen.

That's what i am planing to do, move from my medium to large. I do feel bad for the people who don't own a house currently and are frustrated at SE for locking out any of you who do not own a house and don't have same benefits.

A solution would been added workshop/airship/subs as a instanced zone from idk GC or something. Then housing wouldnt be a gated reason for FC's.

nah mansions shouldn't be fc only, me and my friends are making a great mansion and half the fcs we see let it go empty. personalty i think fc's should be limited to smalls because half the time they get a mansion and dont even allow there members to do jack with the house. until they remove that little button that says you cannot do this with housing in an fc. then no. i like decorating, i like collecting housing items and i like crafting them, dont like it oh well.

I totally agree. If I look in just my wards where i have both my personal house and my fc house its d-e-a-d and nothing decorated.

Guess that what you get when you play on a 6 month old server and everyone moved here to grab a house and then do nothing with it.

Then you're in the wrong FCs. I let any of my members use the gardens all they have to do is ask. Mind you only one person has the ability to use them at a time to prevent trolls griefing ( removing ) / stealing plants. Finding the right FC can take time. Most FC leaders & officers are greedy when it comes to gardens/workshops when there is no need to be. So I don't disagree that most FCs are indeed exactly like what you've stated.

There is alot of selfish FC out there (like you also are saying), which was the point i was trying to make.

Unless you're part of the FC when it's first made, or KNOW someone high up in it, and they aren't using the garden constantly, then odds are you won't get access to it, and especially won't get access to any of the project room stuffs.

Big thing I have an issue with now is the fact that an alt of mine can't get a house now. I THOUGHT they were going to make it so that if you have a main with a house, the alts can use it like your main could. I guess not. That's gonna go over REAL well when they start booting people from their excess housing.

Which is probably why they aren't booting those who already have more than the 2 per world.

i think a way that the housing can be helped is to look at one of the reason why it was implemented in the first place. it was made as a gil sink. something large individuals and FC's can get that give them some features but removes gil from the game. but the price of housing to my knowledge hasn't gone up since 2.0, but we are making more gil, and earning it hand over fist now. for a 1st class large it's still just 50 million gil. for someone who is diligent, that's not hard to make. the black market housing was right in how they managed to sell the houses but the problem was that gil wasn't removed from the system. I feel houses should be sold as a silent auction. the houses would go to the wealthy, and the money spent is removed from the game. not going to make someone else richer. you will still see smalls go for 10, 20, or even 30 million gil, but at least that money that is being removed from the market helping divert inflation.

I completely lost confidence in the housing so spent a good chunk of my gil and only have 12mil on me now :/

I don't think it was never confirmed, but i really hope they look into fixing that. I have houses on my alts and they being grandfathered so i'm okey but i would probably prefer just able to share to my 'main'.

You know...

Originally, the current 'housing' was FC only.
And was meant to stay that way, with an alternate, cheaper, housing system for individuals.

Like the apartments are now.
The apartments should have been made way back when.
Back when SE was implementing personal housing, saying that they would be cheaper...

But, they went with the quick and easy implementation of just allowing individuals to purchase FC housing.

And that design mistake has haunted the housing system ever since.
And can not be rectified.

These limitations are a great step forward in making housing fairer for more players overall.



Personally, I don't own a plot.
I just have an apartment.

My only real complaint is that I can't properly garden.
