That video is becoming such powerful representation of a game that gets love and attention just for the sake of it! So many stuff you'll see and not even realise it happened in game, and respect it much more.
Now i wanna play XI again ><
I love that video. I still remembering being in awe of first stepping into La Theine after starting in Ronfaure (and seeing that gigantic ram). And then freaking out once I was able to level in the dunes. I do so hope 2.0 will give us those great feelings again.
Also, really making me miss gardening haha! I hope we get a proper garden for our player estates in 2.0
yeah its kinda sad that even though ffxi is soooo much older the world feels sooooo much more alive. flowers, trees and leaves moving in the wind. Birds and butterflies flying around fish in the water. the nature is so much more alive and ffxiv rly needs that too it makes exploring the world so much more fun. Really hope they will breath in the same live into eorzea when 2.0 hits.
My hope for the new year, is that the devs look back at XI and see what made it a great game...despite not having 10mil subscribers...its a game we can all sit and still talk about...not just battles, but storylines (CoP)...mobs...npc's...quests...missions...items...tactics...strategies...locations...there is so much...whether people want to admit it or not...XI has left a profound effect on us...its my hope that the devs look at that and realize where XIV needs to be to accomplish its/their goal. The dev team has my support and my best wishes on getting everything done the way they intend for it. I share the video again...because it is that awesome...not bad for a 10yr old game.

I think i might resub since they doing that offer where you get a discount, so its not too bad at all!
I was thinking about resubbing 11 too. I just don't want to taint the good memories i have of that game... Everytime I go back it just feels different then the last, plus my irl gets raped hard once I get sucked in. When I played 11 it was like I was logging into an actual world. I would never log out if I could help it, because I never wanted to miss anything. Random invites to xp when farming, random invites to do missions when xp'ing, last minute Beseiged before passing out. The community was so strong. The more you played, the more you wanted to play. More people knew who you were, and you didn't have to be on for long before someone asked if you were interested in doing something. If you didn't need help w/ something, your friends more then likely did.
So many sleepless nights and showerless weeks had never felt better
Just ignore Betelgeuzah, as you can see, he doesn't care much for the game and hopes it tries to make it fail, he doesn't appreciate any of this. This stuff made the world feel alive, because a lot of it you would notice, and some you wouldnt, but when you did it made you feel like you was the only one to be aware of it and experience it.
I'm positive we'll have better world, landscapes and houses in 2.0|
Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
Also, yes.
I want this SO BAD!
Thumbs up for the OP's video link.
This might sound like a downer post at first, but I assure you it most certainly isn't.
I just want to say, you will never be able to get those feelings back. XI's closeness to you is something that cannot be recreated because there are so many mental factors that play in why we connect with something like this. A deep seeded connection to an MMO is very similar to a long term relationship or a religion really.
However, in those things when they are lost or left behind we're still able to find it again, but it's different. It's not the same nor will it ever be. I just hope that everyone can let those exact feelings go in order to open up to a new Final Fantasy. With 2.0, I strongly agree with the OP's points and I hope they find their own way to bring that kind of magic to their game.
Just make sure to value FFXIV 2.0 for what it will be and not for what similarities there are to your former love. That's when you start to never give the new part of your life a chance at meaning anything to you!
Sorry to get all deep and stuff, but that's just how I feel about it. :P
Edit: Oh! and since we're handing out things that made us feel so nostalgic this one always gets me.

One... Two... I count three buckets full of sarcasm dripping from your post!
It's the first day of the year and I'm hangover, I blame alcohol for the incompleteness of my previous post!
What I meant was, the game has those little details already but since it was released prematurely they most likely didn't have time to add all of it. Watching those videos, I agree they need to add more of those things to ffxiv. Since they're abandoning the idea of an seamless world (which didnt work anyway) and going back to zones, it's more likely they will be able to add more of it without having to deal with memory issues.
Oh look, the fish even move in the water there. :( In Limsa's aquariums the fish all stand still.
Yaa, They took away some little things like MOB AI, ; ; makes me sad.
Please square! Please make FFXIV something close to FFXI. FFXI was such a memorable game for me, something i'll never forget. I couldn't wait to get to higher levels just to see then new zones and new monsters i'd fight. FFXIV its just lame deserts with the occasional cave...nothing to remember...nothing to want. FFXIV is getting better, but its still holds nothing to FFXI even when FFXI launched to US.
The world, the zones, the monsters, the story, and the music is what makes a Final Fantasy. Please, Adding a moogle fight doesnt make this game Final Fantasy.
I've never played XI and this makes me want to play it. I love everything in that video. Not much in XIV can compare to that other than the beautiful detail put into XIV.
If they could combine the uniqueness and aliveness of XI with the graphical detail of XIV, it would be perfect.
Even better if they fixed the lag >.>
You are asking SE to give you 10 years of your life back, when you were young and everything was fresh and exciting. Look in the mirror and the only one at fault is you getting old.
XI was special, im still subbed but play only casual but still love every bit of it. The music is amazing the old and new areas are so beautiful.
WoW etc are the big boys but no other MMO made me feel so "home" like XI did. Still listening to XI OST while playing XIV :p.
I hope XIV 2.0 can live up to just a little bit.
That video just doesn't cut it. This one should. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBLTZ...rVKheEsiwFU0rt
Ya that was a great fight, but the point was, we want more things to remember eorzea by. I wanna walk around and see a nm that noone has seen before! An area that does something special only during a special time of the year. I want an adventure, not someone serving me the adventure. That would mean they would have to stop telling us where everything is. Though, people would hate that, because they would have to walk around and guess what ADVENTURE! That's why I hate all the stuff they implemented with the aggro sign, mobs bigger(easier to see), ect... First time I went to Bhaflau Thickets with my friend, we didn't know what to expect! All of a sudden, CHIGOES come out of no wear and eats us alive.
But yes that video is great.
Whoah son what is that? If it's Sky related, you gotta post one of the old BG vids with the tacky music.

Look at that pre-reskinned Kirin and old school FFXI swag everyone's wearing AF. I miss this game.
there are a lot of little things in ffxiv, you just dont notice them ^^
OH ya I know ^.^ though not SUPER special
is for it to be FABULOUS!
Lol that made me smile
