Saw someone post they were on WT this week, at work so I can't confirm.
They are, two lanes.
Ok thanks. Wonder if there are gonna be other wAys of getting them. I've heard you can get grade 6 from convert lvl 70 crafting gathering gear and from mutamix. If wt is the only other way I may be in trouble. I haven't gotten any lines in over a month but haven't been shuffling either. Just letting them fall wherever.
From what I remember they also drop in hunts. So I'm assuming this is SE's way of allowing Battle classes find ways to make income.
Those are clusters, not crystals...
So battle classes get easy ways to get grade VI of their choice and gatherers/crafters have to either RNG gamble grade V materia,RNG spirit bond/convert gear, or do BATTLE content to have a CHANCE at cracked crystals from Wonderous TAils for grade VI of their choice...WTH? PLEASE ADD GRADE VI FOR THE CURRENTLY USELESS YELLOW SCRIPTS?!?!?
At least you don't actually need Grade VI yet per say - but still horribly unbalanced not sure why crafters/gatherers are getting screwed. It's fine to have those as alternative methods, but not as the sole means when we have the scrip system.
Why cant they just give us a weekly for one? Or do something along the lines of "5% chance on crafting a 1 star Item to create a random TVI crafting materia". That percent obviously could be lower maybe I dunno.
you really dont need the lvl 6 materia to reach the currently stats.

No I'm fully aware of the difference. There were however rumors going around at the time you got BOTH from hunts. Crystals are for Non combat and Clusters are for combat. I told them if they DID have the Crystals also drop from hunts then it would make it interesting that battle classes would find a way to sell due to luck.
They really should've added more custom delivery NPCs like Zhloe that could reward yellow scrips and Cracked Crystals. Melding is punishing enough as it is, at least give us something good for the guaranteed slots.
If they did make them drop from hunts, it would actually give an incentive to pull a hunt ASAP to keep the number of crystals down and thus inflate the price. We don't need this, it is already hard enough to get to a hunt before someone pulls it. (Not saying they don't have a right to pull it early just saying.)
It wouldn't matter since I believe SE would make other ways for people to also get crystals. That being said, non combat materia was always a bit harder. I don't think they want crafters to faceroll, they need to have an economy somewhere. Tier 6 is pretty much end game
No it wouldn't. People who pull immediately with hunts are always going to because they don't care. They aren't even doing it for gil, they just want to kill the mob fast and move on to the next one. Adding Cracked Clusters wouldn't change that, it'd just plummet the prices.
You pretty much just made the exact same case I did. Instant pullers currently do it because they can and because they want to move on with their lives. Adding an actual incentive to pull early, AKA the cracked crystals in order to limit how many people get them from that particular kill to keep market low, would add an ACTUAL incentive. This would lead to people who didn't previously pull instantly to start doing so do to an actual economic incentive.
How. The early pullers don't care that much about the crystal market. They care more about the mount and getting as much hunts as possible for their battle classes. They aren't deviously twirling mustaches about the crafting market. A crystal drop is RNG, it doesn't go to the guy who pulled early.
Clusters will drop, crystals will rise. Oh and I get a cluster everytime I do lvl roulette as a guaranteed drop (Mostly for tanks only). Wheres the crafter one? Maybe we make too much gil already. I dont know
If anything, I think GATHERERS have it harder than Crafters. Crafters are going to look to getting the crystals for their gear first, gatherers are more of a "middle class" that have to overmeld to get an HQ chance for Folkore (though it seems on the crafting side HQ folklore isn't even extremely necessary)...I just find that weird.
(side note
3* crafts I'm thinking will require 1580 Craft 1460 CTRL. )
Again my point exactly. CURRENTLY!!!!!!! they are doing it for the mount and what not. HOWEVER, if there is an economic value to purposefully limiting the number of people that have the chance to obtain a certain item, in this case these cracked crystals people are talking about, the not only would the CURRENT insta pullers keep pulling early, but a NEW set of people doing it for economic reasons would emerge.
Gatherer melding is just as easy if not easier than crafter right now... here are my melds http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/118MZ super cheap and easy
You really don't need cracked crystals. VI are easy to get. Go spend 30 minutes harvesting twincoon and 10 minutes mining effervescent water. Go get spirit Bonding potions and trade some seals to buy moonstones to get better crowned pie. Slap on a set of twinthread gear with some cheap crappy materia attached and quicksynth your your way to millions. Or 2* melds.
Easy (and time consuming) to spriitbond gear, yes I agree. BUT - Are grade Vi's guaranteed? No. If you do get a Grade VI are you guaranteed to get the one's you need? No. Cracked Crystals and/or buying for Yellow scrips solves the RNG aspect of Spiritbonding. Buying scratch off lottery tickets is easy...winning a million dollars from those tickets is not. How DoW/M get grade VI vs DoH/L is grossly unbalanced.
That's WITH FOOD.
You can pentameld Crafting sets and do 1 star w/o food but you don't need tier VI. I wanted to get to 1200 perception w/o food, what is the best meld for that?
True, but I still would like to be able to hit 1200. Just thought the threshold was weird this time.
If the grade VI is from luck or 2 lines in WT this week, this is a pain vs getting battle material from hunts. I have 2,000 yellow scrips that are useless, The gear you get from them is useless for the effort. I am surprised they did not add a way for us to spend yellow scrips on grade VI material. So I have 2,000 yellow scrips and nothing to use them on. slow clap.
With how many materials scrips requires- yes we should absolutely be able to turn them in crafting/gathering VI materia. There really is no excuse they can give me as to why they didnt.
Even if it was something as absurd (and it would be) as 1000 yellow for ONE VI materia. Perfectly fair for the amount of work/gil to craft them all.
That isn't a fact though, it's an opinion. I am not being insulting, just correcting your logic here. Crafting will lever be the same as battle and should not as I explained in this thread
Your crafting gear spiritbonds rather quickly if you craft a lot. It's a reward system for using the gear for its purpose. The default tier is V for 70 gear, but it has a chance of giving you VI, the meld rate is quicker with a pot from ALC HQ only need one materia melded to spiritbond faster (which most of the left side has 2 slots save for belt) and 2 for NQ gear.
I do agree that Yellow scrips should be a used as a reward for Tier 6 but only at a high cost. As much as I hate token bloat, but making it so that you need something like 6000 scrips for a tier 6 would cost about the same (due to mat consumption) as buying it off the marketboard as it goes now. (This tier and probably other ones) Yellow scrip gear was not intended for an omnicrafter, but those who needed to get some kind of gear and not worry about the melds. Or people who wanted to glamour.
For those of you ready to crash the market here is the guide to spiritbonding for profit.

And https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...tbond/dkkzbzk/
So basically it's saying do what you're intended to do - craft items and you will get materia. With the new spiritbond potions and items this isn't as bad as before. If you can't afford to be making HQ gear each time, buy NQ items from the vendor and add 2 materia instead and it will spiritbond at the same rate as 1 HQ gear and 1 materia.
Hope this brings complaints down on materia accessibility and we'll probably see complaints that materia is too easy to get now. ;)
its a figure of speech but anyway...
I'm not saying that they are the same, but I am making the comparison of crafters / gatherers to battle classes because of how battle classes seem to be gifted free materia if they run certain dungeons and not to mention how much easier it is to obtain cracked clusters, even if it is biased towards tanks mostly and sometimes healers.
that was the logic that you were trying to correct.
basically crafters and gatherers should be given the ability to pick up free materia too through some sort of game mechanic which is biased towards rank 5 materia but also has the chance for rank 6 too.
There is still more content and changes to come, so we will have to see what happens next.
Goodness. I'll restate again since you didn't read it.
The main focus of this game is battle. You can't really craft end game until you get to 70 in a battle class.
It's "easier" because the main goal is to BATTLE, with other players. You fight to get clusters. Be this in a 4 man dungeon, partnering up with other people to do hunts to get a higher score on hunt seals. You work with others.
More people do BATTLE content, so the reward is BATTLE materia. And of course it is biased towards healers and tanks because there's more people playing as a DPS (though depending on the server sometimes DPS can get the bonus as well).
Your main goal as a crafter is to CRAFT. Your main goal as a GATHERER is to GATHER. You can do this without being in a party, or raid group. Your gear doesn't require high level matera, unlike a raid where some won't let you in unless you have tier 6 melds on your gear. Your reward for crafting and gathering is materia. That means you do red scrips turn ins, Zhloe to get more red scrips, or spiritbond.
Since melding spiritbonds items faster, and you can get Better Crowned Pie, and Spiritbonding potions these stack. You are guaranteed tier V from the 70 gear and 20% chance of it being tier 6. You do NOT need HQ gear to spiritbond. Keep your original set if you don't want to re-meld, and buy NQ gear from the vendors and put in 2 junk materia, it spiritbonds at the same rate as HQ with one materia. If you don't want to do the main goal of crafting/gathering to get materia which is rewarded when you do it. You can't complain that the system is unfair.
The same time it took to wait for a dungeon due to DPS queues, I spiritbonded the left side of my gear and got more materia than running a battle class dungeon :P
*you can also gamble the more "useless" materia with Mutamix.
Sorry, I'll start screaming about crafting needing human sacrifices, expecting dogs and cats to live together and engage in mass hysteria ;)
That said. Found some great crafts that are for grinding during a spiritbond the prices of these items (the crafted result) tend to be pretty good as well/
The only one that is kinda screwed on this is Culinarian and (probably Leatherworker if you don't have ALC) but considering food is always needed it's not horrible.
WVR: Twinthread. This is excellent for spiritbonding because its just Twincoon and Effervescent Water. In addition, you can also turn the silks into Cloth.
CRP: Zelkova Lumber. You don't need anything else and you can use it later to craft more right side gear. Great win.
LTW: Marid or Gazelle, if you don't have ALC or need to farm the skins not as great because you need the Persimmon Tannin.
ALC: Persimmon Tannin good stuff, helps a lot of LTW out and gives it in batches of 3. Great stuff
ARM/BSM: Molybdenum Ingot. It's needed end game anyways so get your cobalt and molybdenum on.
If you have a gatherer, may as well do the same for their gear as you farm the mats.
