What were you thinking SE this isn't a fix

Action Adjustment Heavy Swing TP cost has been reduced from 70 to 60
Skull Sunder Enmity effect has been increased.
Overpower Enmity effect has been increased.

Dark Knight
Action Adjustment Spinning Slash Enmity effect has been increased.
Unleash Enmity effect has been increased.
Bloodspiller Potency has been increased from 380 to 400.
Dark arts potency has been increased from 520 to 540.

Well good job on increasing boodspiller that's about the only real change we got but there needs to be more sweeping changing in drks mitigation kit. And War, are you serious? It's the only tank with zero raid utility it needs to do way more damage to make up for that. Also war has an infinate pool of tp the HS change is unneeded and irrelevant.

Attributes have been adjusted for certain gear. <--- you guys can only hope Lol

4.05 is the major fix after seeing how the raid goes. 4.01 was making some minor adjustments particularly for early tanking.

Wait for 4.05, now its just small tweaks and their main concern is enmity.

Yeah the tank changes aren't super great, and speak to a certain amount of tone-deafness, but like Takamorisan said they're holding the big changes back for 4.05. I'm willing to withhold harsher judgement until then.

enmity is a non factor though lol I had no trouble holding aggro in dungeons leveling all 3 tanks to 70, and we have shirk now for raids/trials so after a powerslash combo neither tank needs to ever go back into tank stance again. I guess ill hold out hope for real balance changes in 4.05, but its concerning that the only thing they touched on was enmity, the least of tanks concerns right now.

My raid group doesn't have either but we do have a war. So that does help me out with the slashing debuff.

hey guys we dont want to tie tank damage to vit because that will cause HP bloat even though we locked all tank stormblood accessories to vit only what in the fu

Yeah that comment was weird to me too. "Tying tank damage to VIT will case HP bloat." except... just... putting more VIT on gear is the only thing that causes HP bloat, and they could curtail that by just adding less VIT to gear?

Sadly, only relevant if there isn't a NIN or a SAM in the party, which is rather unlikely.
SAM is currently too good to pass out in a raid group. Plus every one wants to try to new job.

I think what he means about vit damage scaling is they don't want to tie damage to vit again because it becomes harder to balance because there is more vit on stuff then other stats. Tanks did more damage with the vit damage scaling and got the benefit of having high hp. I think they wanted to go back to tanks doing less damage but having more hp but they didn't think people would use 270 str acc when they went to lock new 4.0 accessories by job.

My best guess is that they're worried that if they wanted to increase tank DPS, then they would have to, necessarily, increase tank HP as well. It seems to me that the obvious solution would be to put STR on Fending accessories.

These posts are good examples of those who dont read the patch note release posts, like the one that says class changes will come in 4.0.5 and that enmity generation was the only quick fix they were really making this patch (aside from brd buff).

tanks are already at 90% dmg when compared to DPS prior to removing vit scaling in 3.5. It's just the usual hindsight that SE has when they design stuff. Previous examples include hard dps checks in savage raids with high magic damage resulting in PLD being unfavorable in 3.0, parry (and possibly tenacity?) being a garbage stat that had such high investment for small gains, rewarding players who push phases rather than do them properly (ZEX dashes), etc.

Adding enmity is good but I want to see what SE will do to bring WAR and DRK up to PLD standards and their contribution to the party as a whole and not just for themselves, be it increased damage, more utility or improved game play among other things.

untill they figure out what to do with accessories and the fact that all other roles have scaling main stats, there will be this enmity boost every time they get a chance. There will be new stronger gear coming out, and in 2 weeks even stronger newer tier of gear, I am glad to see some of you are optimistic for 4.05 changes but they arent going to be an overhaul, we've been through this the entire 3.x series already.

90%? more like 70%
if that dps can only deal 10% more damage than a tank means they're a shitty dps

That's the reason only Savage Blade, Skull Sunder and Spnning Slash got enmity buffs, bc once you get the third step in the enmity combo you stop having enmity problems in single target in stuff like Totorak and Tam-Tara. Right now, Red Mages are giving low-level tanks a headache. It's a good change.

Same applies to Flash, Overpower and Unleash. This is also probably why Unleash got a buff but Abyssal Drain didn't. The changes aren't for endgame, they're just fixes for QoL, much like the Troubadour change.

Huh. I hadn't considered that.

Probably because I've hardly done any low level dungeons since 4.0 dropped. Those changes would make it significantly easier to hold threat in say... copperbell.

I haven't been doing low level content on tank either, but some friends have been levelling tanks and they have been crying blood when they get paired up with RDM or SAM. My boyfriend also levelled RDM through levelling roulette, and he'd effortlessly strip hate from tanks just by doing the Dualcast combo because of RDM's hilariously high potencies in their low level skills. It was a genuine issue, as holding hate in low level was already a pain in the ass even in 3.2 onward after the VIT+STR damage nerf.

But yeah, I think it's evident that this was the intention by looking at what skills got enmity buffs, and actually, I just read this from Yoshida's post in the forum:

I think you'll find Pld is highest single target dps due to garbage aoe dps. War is second because it has moderate aoe dps and Drk is third because it has high aoe dps.

PLD having garbage aoe dps if no longer true. Their aoe dps in much more sustainable than WAR/DRK and they don't have to use single target moves to maintain buffs or replenish mp.

WAR/DRK have better burst aoe but less sustainable.
