Unable to Complete Version Check [30410][30607][10009][19900][12057]

Like many people, I am getting the dreaded unable to complete version check. However, in my case, this occurred after playing. I use the macOS client, and after about an hour of play, my computer suddenly froze up and restarted. After I logged back in, I started getting this issue. Resetting the game's config through the launcher doesn't work, and I can't find client to download. I know the usual steps are to change your DNS server, but I tried that to no avail. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yeah, I did and a lot of other people too. DO NOT REINSTALL THE GAME, it was a totally mess to reinstall it and I just ended up at the same issue.

Confirmed, also having this error. Mac client, following a full system kernal panic while playing. client has worked perfectly fine for months prior to this with little to no issue. This occurred only after patch 3.57. Tried reinstallation of the launcher, no effect. Tried reinstalling the entire client, no effect.

Yeah, so I think it something that got messed up with Mac connections :( Because other people have had no issue after the maintenance. SIGHHH

Try changing DNS server to 209.244.0.3 primary and 208.244.0.4 secondary. This worked for me, the Google ones that other people posted did not. (I am on PS4, though it doesn't seem to matter)

No luck. Also tried 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, no change, same error. It does appear to be an issue specifically with the mac client's launcher. Tried a router and system reboot (again), still not working. I've tried talking to the chat customer service people, they just told me to reboot my router and didn't listen to anything I said. I've escalated to email CS.

We are having this issue as well, please let us know if any Mac users get this resolved...

contacted SE chat, didn't solve it. Emailed SE, didn't solve it. I guess all I can do is just wait.... no hope T.T

Okay this fix is NOT for the weak of heart but it did fix the problem for me. DO NOT TRY THIS if you aren't sure what I'm talking about or what I'm doing here. This is NOT a quick fix. This is very much the definition of a LONG fix. This is a "I'm desperate" fix. This is a POWER USER solution, not an everyday user solution. Also... this is a Mac OS X client fix... not a Windows or PS4 client fix, sorry guys. Do not use this solution if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. Do not use this solution if your arm smells like your mother. Do not use this solution standing on your head. blah blah blah blah blah you get the picture...

One more warning: You WILL lose all your GUI settings.

Here's what I did:

1. Using the unix command line under Mac OS X, under the //Applications folder, I did a 'sudo rm -rf "FINAL FANTASY XIV.app" '
2. Using the unix command line under Mac OS X, under the //Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/ folder and did a 'sudo rm -rf "FINAL FANTASY XIV" '
3. Reinstalled the game from the original .dmg file
4. Login worked normally.

My best guess is that there is something in the preferences files the came caches under the application support folder that says where the launcher gets it's patch data from and it's pointed to the wrong place. Perhaps a URL that DNS hasn't updated. Perhaps a cache purge of some kind might fix this? Don't know, but this worked for me.

I use MacBook Pro and I am having the same issue. I was able to log in yesterday (the 18th) until 19th around 2-3 am, then I went to sleep for a few hours while i was still logged in. This morning around 7am, I realized I got kicked out from the game. I got the same exact errors every time I tried to launch the game.

I tried changing the DNS, resetting my router, and reinstalled the game (I got the mac version on SE store, so I re-downloaded the client from their site)... nothing worked. I haven't tried Mitha's suggestion, I am not sure if I want to mess with the files since I am not familar with them.

Please let us know if there're other solutions. Thank you.

Where is the client download? I can never find it.

My computer crashed while running the game. Upon trying to launch the game and logon again, I get this error.

I have cleared my cache, done what mitha suggested, rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled, reset routers, just about everything I can think of. Nothing so far has worked.

Really frustrated, hope this can be fixed soon! :(

Try this if you are a mac user! this worked for me :3

1.Drag your FFXIV game app to app cleaner.
2.only select the folder with the address saying /Library/Application Support/FINAL FANTASY XIV/
3.DELETE
4.relaunch the app and it will start downloading after you are done with the SE agreements

Just use app cleaner and the folder will show up on the lists with the address "/Library/Application Support/FINAL FANTASY XIV/".

Does running ffxiv normally push your mac into a kernal panic? I just started playing a few days ago and it's happened to mine a few times. I don't think it happened before the patch though. Just wondering if this is going to be a reoccurring thing.

Yes, this has happened a few times. You play for a bit and then the machine crashes and restarts.

Hey fellow Mac users,

Early is morning, I uninstalled and re-installed the game again (2nd time). This time, I completely removed the game with App Cleaner, I didn't remove the partial file like nomnomnom suggested above. Then I re-installed the game via SE store, where I purchased the game. The launcher was able to update everything and I am able to login again!

Currently doing this now and looks promising, sadly going to take hours to redownload all updates, but it's doing something so I feel better at least xD..

I need you to explain to me what you did. Did you mainly just delete that Application folder? If yes, I've done that and it didn't work.

Tried this 4 times and it didn't work.

I managed to resolve this issue. The underlying cause is that FFXIV's boot configuration becomes corrupted and needs to be rebuilt. What I did was to open a terminal window, type in "sudo rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Final\ Fantasy\ XIV", and the relaunch the game. This removes the local boot configuration and forces the launcher to rebuild it. This has the unfortunate side effect of removing your hot bars and GUI settings, so I recommend you export those first. I don't have a fix for the kernel panics and subsequent restart, but I think it's related to the DirectX issues the Windows client is experiencing.

One important thing to note is that the path is ~/Library and NOT /Library. I don't think FFXIV writes to the root library folder.

Sigh.. I was slightly excited to see that someone came up with another idea. This didn't work for me. It's exactly the same as deleting the application folder..(which doesn't work either). I'm still getting the same problem.

Are you get the same error codes?

The following worked for me (no deleting required):

Open the file /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/FINAL FANTASY XIV/p_drive/User/My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/FFXIV_BOOT.cfg
Change "BootVersionCheckMode 0" to "BootVersionCheckMode 1".

Once that's done, restart your launcher if it's already running and log in.

i was able to fix the problem and keep all of my ui settings by doing the following:
make a copy of your FFXIV app folder on your desktop..located here:

/Users/<Your User Account>/Library/Application Support/FINAL FANTASY XIV

now delete that folder and restart your client

you'll have to go through some of the basic setup. Log in and then exit.

now head to this directory in the copy on your desktop and in the library

/Users/<Your User Account>/Library/Application Support/FINAL FANTASY XIV/p_drive/User/My Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn/

you should have a Character folder and a downloads folder...copy them into your new library.

your UI will be intact and you can log in...there are some basic settings you may need to change (full screen vs windowed, resolution, etc)...but at least you can play and your macros and UI are good.

***if you can't find your "Library" directory you may need to allow viewing of it in your finder. ***

PC side had same issue after rebooting Main PC today. I tried everything suggested, Change DNS, reset router, deleted files, change boot config from 0 to 1.....Nothing...Until I stumbled on a suggestion to use a Mobile hotspot with unlimited data. (did that Nothing and 1MBs speeds for 15 gigs left would have been FML) However I just switched from wired to wireless for my connection and it solved the issue.

I figured I would share how I fixed mine just in case. This issue seems to have many different solutions based on what each persons computer might be getting stuck on.

Suldimar you are a genius. This worked for me. Try this out… Don’t uninstall everything if you don’t have to. Good luck everyone!!

This is excessive -- you only need to reset the system preferences: Delete the file under //Users/ and you're set. Worked beautifully for me. (Mac Mini Late 2014, OS 10.12.4). The total fix took under 3 minutes. Yes, you lose all your configuration settings, but it's easy enough to restore them.

EDIT: OK, now that I'm actually in and doing it all, it IS an immense PITA: I didn't lose just my UI settings, I also lost all my gear sets and action bars. So listen to Suldimar -- do some backup before you delete...

For those having the kernel panic/reboot issues -- I have bluetooth sound speakers (Creative Labs). If my iMac is connected to those speakers via bluetooth, I get the kernel panic/reboot when FFXIV is running. If I make sure the speakers are NOT connected (use your bluetooth prefs to remove the speakers completely; you can always add them back in later), the game runs fine.

I had a similar issue with WoW a few years back, until they did something that patched the issue. Something about trying to use bluetooth for sound just wreaks havoc with some games, I guess.

(edit: thank you, Suldimar! your solution fixed the "version check" issue for me, too!)

Hi guys, I have this error for the first time 4 days ago, did what Suldimar said and worked!:D But i keep having this error everysingle day: computer crashes, i go and try to log back in the game, error comes out, do Suldimar solution, works for the rest of the day, but i will have it again the next day. Its crashes so randomly too, sometimes just when i log in the game, others after a few hours, or when i log back in at the end of the day.

Is this error recurring for you too or you have it solved?

Same issue here. I attempted to reinstall and have the same issue. Hope Square Enid fixes it soon. I wish they would develop a true Mac client.

I've noticed this only seems to pop up when I restart my computer; if I just leave it running or put it to sleep, it doesn't glitch out.

It was working fine this morning and this afternoon and then when I went to get dinner. It wouldn't login in and would you know! It's the same error message that everyone's been posting about recently! I'm a Mac user as well. This is unreal.

Happened to me as well, after one of those insufferable random kernel panics SE still isn't fixing.
Suldimar's solution worked, but it always asks me to set a new password for my account because of "suspicious activity".

Today, played a bit after servers going back up... New kernel panic as I dared click another app. And now Suldi's solution doesn't work anymore : I get the error log even as I just deleted the folder in my library. This is unreal. How are we supposed to get help from SE since we Mac players are pretty much second class citizens ?

EDIT : Nevermind. It still does work. I just got the general FINAL FANTASY XIV folder confused with the smaller one that's inside /My Games/etc... Make sure you delete the big one.
