Makes things get old fast. Why out date gear with every new patch or release of content? What happen to an item being worth getting that will last till the max level? Now it's higher level = automatic upgrade, it makes everything lame. Whats the point in DH or stronghold gear when crafted crap > it?

As far as current itemization, it didn't even exist prior to 1.19. Now it's in growing pains. You can't draw conclusions from any of that.
We could try to analyze some of the stuff though. If legendary items are 'seasonal', that means they will stay relevant for a year or two at time. So as such the same should apply to other gear, in general. -

That said we really dont know what the plan is for items, the gear we had got oudated more because the game was drastically changing, than any concrete plan. Also building materia peices will probably last you a very long time, even if some new gear comes out tmr, and its slighty better than your base item, the +3 with 3 materia on it is worth more and more useful until you can make/find a similiarly hqed or materia'd item.
And to be perfectly honest a heavily materiad item is more unlikely, and takes more resources than any other item out (including ifrits weapons which are no probably fairly common in ul dah) -

Btw... not all U/U gear is worthless. Sipahi Turban / Gloves, Sentinel gear, Hex mask, etc.... all drop from Stronghold coffers and they are highly sought after.
Darkhold gear is semi-worthless but only because you can't materia bind them. I recall them saying they would look into the possibility of melding materia to U/U gear. -

I did try t o farm them but i never got the drop on the rare times when i actually got the pull. But overall it was bad design. Not all stronghold gear is bad. The Mask of the Mortal Hex has +20 Attack Magic Potency, which you can't get without attaching 3 INT materia onto a headpiece. I want it so much.

See im confused, because on one side you say you want gear that will last a long time, on the other side you say you ll end up wearing your materia slotted gear forever.
in any case, it wont be forvever, whenever new slotted gear comes out thats basic stats are better, or more tailored to you liking, people will start to try to create 2x materiad versions of it. but their old gear will last them until they can finally create the slightly better version. It will still have value, because even if it isnt the best, its still better than anything you could easily obtain without massive monetary investment, or time investment.
Rare ex gear could only be slotted by a self crafter at this point, so its not that important yet regardless. Probably what they should do is re evaluate some of the lower class rare ex drops and put them as meldable, but things like ifrit weapons, cant would far outclass things if they had the same materia abilities.
they said they were thinking about it though, so i wouldnt say its impossible to imagine that they will allow it, or make the rare ex gears at least materializable, with some of them having special materia coming from them.
But i would imagine it would not be the best gear in game even so. If they allow great gear to be destroyable, and put in the loot system people want, then people will be competing for the same gears even when someone has gotten in 4 or 5 times. it will just make the elite that more elite, even within their own groups. -

Idk what you're rambling on about. The whole gear system as it is right now is lame, they need to add in gear swaps, stat mods for weapon skills, and make ACC ACTUALLY MEAN SOMETHING and as mentioned before allow materia with same % to meld as +3 items or higher on U/U items. By doing that you will increase the number of players out in SH's and increase the materia market and overall fun in playingQuote:

What they need to address is how HQ armor doesn't affect the stats of the gear besides defense. At least give the bonus stats another point or so. If you see what people list HQ ingredients for in the market wards, it makes no sense to buy them just to try to make something with higher defense and to give a slightly better chance at attaching more materia.
