Someone in my FC has stated that upgrade parts are, yet again, gated behind hunts.
You're just going to get people mad AGAIN at the hunts, SE.
Just stick glamour stuff into hunts and call it a day, PLEASE.
Don't make it essential.

Just make your daily/weekly hunt and get then from Void Ark/Explorations instead. It's not that bad.
They're also available through a Void Ark weekly thing.
Hunt zerging is definitely going to become a thing again, though. If you're interested in getting it as fast as possible, that's the way to go. But if you're not then there's more casual options, like doing your daily/weekly bills and doing the Void Ark weekly.
They are also (still) available through Alex Savage, also locked to once a week per level.
I am not sure you are seeing the point. Or at least what I believe the point is. We can all hate the fact inventory and housing has been designed horribly. But with current resources they are unwilling to redo it. So we can live with it. The only reason to do this is to justify a bad idea and keep it running. Instead of hunts it might as well be the one day bonus for adventurer in need on some roulettes. That would add more then hunts do.
Unless you play on a decent server where they have no problems. Balmung at least has one tool yelling at someone angrily in a zone.
They aren't gated behind hunts, they are simply now available in other places besides savage, ala hunts and void ark.
Gated behind hunts would mean you could ONLY get those upgrades from hunts.
If you don't want to hunt, don't.
My only issue with hunts are early pullers and late/non callers. Salty players over shout I don't care about since that's easily ignorable. Still, I wish hunts weren't executed so poorly. When they were announced, I thought we were getting something similar to like let's say Monster Hunter where simply sacking a monster is going to get you murdered and tons of team work would be required.
Apparently earning anything by playing the game means it's gated. Huh.
Gated is not a proper word. You get get them a few other ways. Did you know this, or are you intentionally creating false drama?
Wednesday is going to be crazy.
I don't understand why you use word "gated"?
Many people already have full 210 sets, so how can the upgrade items be "gated"?
Also you can get the upgrade items for Void Ark too.
Hunts aren't the only way to get the items. If you don't like hunts, just stick to the Void Ark and upgrade slowly.
I am kinda glad about hunts, because I use it as some casual time killer, just running around maps and waiting for spawns in party while watching films. Unfortunately I have already upgraded everything I wanted.
They're wrong. The upgrade parts that are being added originally drop from Alexander: Gordias (Savage). Now they'll be added to Centurio Hunts and Void Ark's reward system. They will not be gated behind Hunts. Please do not spread misinformation out of reaction.
Or you can just do the daily/weekly bills and only do Elite Marks if they're nearby or you just feel like it. Doing hunts after the initial zergs die down is actually relaxing and enjoyable.
And make the process of catching up a tedious chore? Sounds like a plan.
This is funny because it's not. Hunting is simply just one method out of few to get upgrade materials. Nothing more.
As other people have already said, no, they haven't gated them behind hunts. You will be able to upgrade all your Esoterics armor and accessories (but not weapon) without ever doing a single hunt.
Hunts will probably be the fastest way to garner multiple upgrade items though, with both Alexander Savage and Void Ark being much more limited than hunts in how much you can feasibly acquire in a given week.
Right now, the checklist looks like this: 1) Do weekly's, 2) Hunt as much as possible
I just really wish I could actually avoid hunts without feeling like I'm falling behind, like I'm dragging my feet when everyone else in the group is putting up with hunts to progress through the content. But, I guess I've gotten used to the hunt funneling cycle they keep bringing back. A little depressing, really.
Not they havent, run savage if you dont wanna hunt. NOTHING is "gated" behind hunts. Should be happy non raiders even get a chance at anything "but i dont wanna run sav or hunt" sounds self inflicted to me then doesnt it?
Like everyone else has said, they are NOT gated by Hunts. They're going to be available in Void Ark and are already available through Savage. Not to mention the fact, that the item available through Hunts is accessories only.
You mean savage? Because I'm running savage, but, besides the time it takes before you can actually start clearing it, we have to share all the upgrades that are dropping. And it's not like you can catch up with savage even now since the weekly lockout is still in place.
I'm not even talking about keeping up with the general populace (many of which haven't been doing any of the savage stuff, so I'm already ahead of them) but keeping up with my own group. To do that, I would need to hunt if they're going to hunt or I'll lag behind (as I have every time the upgrades have been capped everywhere but through hunts).
Settle down. My point is that for the content you run say expert roulette you are at max ilvl for that, but as we know you can be paired with people who have full raid gear, and they're not going to drop the gear to match yours, but you can't match theirs. So you're not necessarily behind you are on par with the content. But now atleast I'll have a chance to upgrade the gear to just stay on par and not get yelled at because they want me to pull 5 mobs at a time and AOE them to death with full raid gear. I mean if you're running ilvl 130, in expert, yeah I'd say you are behind but if you're over 190, you're doing just fine.
Void Ark = one per week, no weapon upgrades available yet
Savage Alex = limited numbers each week shared between a group of 8 regulars
Hunts = potential for unlimited upgrades in a single week
If you don't see this as being a formula for burnout, server drama, and stress for raiders who aren't full 210 yet, then you need glasses. New content is immediately trivialized for people seeking progression, because only hunts provide the uncapped access to upgrades they need for raid.
At least 210 gear from airship exploration has the potential to deflate Hunts this time, if those random stats have the possibility of being BiS over the upgrade Esoteric gear.
Hunts needed something to help revitalize them. People still do S ranks occasionally, but it's gotten hard to find enough people to take down an A rank. Hopefully this should help get people interested again, so we can get back to having some social interactive open world content again. I'm really looking forward to that.
For those who don't like it, there's the solo daily/weekly ones, and the Void Ark thing, so I don't really see why they should begrudge those of us who want the chance to do the hunts from getting something for them.
I wouldn't really call doing hunts for (previously) raid only upgrade items "playing the game". Hunts take absolutely 0 skill to do.
They should be adding stuff to purchase with hunt marks that doesn't have an impact on the raiding scene. Upgrade items bring out some of the worst players and makes for a very crappy scene when things get heated in the various zones. The draw for hunts should be glamour items, mounts, minions, etc. Things that don't have a direct impact on gameplay and progression.
