Featherfoot for WAR - actually good in 3.0?

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I believe the way fixed evasion skills (Featherfoot and the evasion portion of Dark Arts on Dark Dance) has changed in 3.0.

In 2.0 they just added to the level-based formula to calculate your dodge, which meant in high end raids they never worked and thus Featherfoot was a completely worthless crossclass for warriors outside of 4man content.

In 3.0 though, along with a slight nerf from 20% to 12%... I believe featherfoot and Dark Dance actually work fully in raids? Certainly we've been seeing Dodges in various content.

Is this just because it's entry level stuff, or is it confirmed that Featherfoot will always be a full 12% chance to dodge even in the nastiest of raids? If so, doesnt that make Featherfoot one of the strongest Warrior crossclasses now, and worth taking over Awareness/Second Wind? Even spells can be dodged, so whilst it's unreliable it feels like a noticeable cooldown to use.

Raid boss accuracy is so high as to render miss and non-existent, so while its useful for AOE packs in dungeons, thats really about it.

I don't believe I have dodged at all even in alexander NM. Granted I'm talking on a base level, its possible the Evasion boost increases your evasion stat so its then possible to evade but it's unlikely they're worth it atm.DA Dark dance would be the easiest way of checking to see if there is any potential at all for fleetfoot. If one never gets an evade on DA Dark dance, then theres definitely no way fleetfoot wil lboost your evasion over their accuracy. You might as well take Mantra if you want a general replacement for Awareness.

I haven't evaded anything as far as raid content goes, with a DA Dark Dance. The chance could maybe be there at some abysmally low rate, and I just haven't seen it though because it's not worth wasting a Dark Arts on Dark Dance anyway.

Just as it's likely not worth taking Featherfoot over something like Second Wind.

Well apparently our DRK has evaded some attacks from the Manipulator in Alex 4 and Blinding Blades in Ravana Ex (which seemed to result in the full damage going onto the MT), though I'm not sure if it's an abysmally low rate or closer to the 12%. Maybe more testing is needed, or maybe it's just because these encounters are still entry level so boss accuracy isnt high enough to totally negate it yet.

I'll do some tests over the coming days. Something was telling me that Featherfoot is now a 12% fixed amount of evasion regardless of encounter but it's so hard to get concrete facts on a lot of FF mechanics without empirical tests.

Your dark knight didn't get in front of the blinding blade in time, lol. That's why the MT took full damage.

He is using a flimsy excuse to avoid culpability.

Let's see... MP is a renewable resource. DA sits on a 5-second cooldown and is oGCD. The cooldown for Dark Dance is a bit long. Either I take reduced damage or ignore it completely. I guess it's alright to push the skill to its maximum potential. There is more to DRK than dmg. As for WAR, I've been a healer to a WAR with FF and it was a very smooth run where I was able to sit in CS for an extended amount of time.

nope featherfoot is still useless since WAR has no access to blind outside of potions and other party members. WAR is a self reliant tank and that spot is better spent on either mantra or Second wind.

i have yet to dodge any attacks in endgame content with DA+DD. not from any of the standard alex raid bosses, nor from ravana.

In fairness, latency can make Blinding Blade hits look really janky. I've had a few times where I thought I'd run in front in time (before the animation even began) and instead watched the MT crumple. The hit detection seems to occur about half a second before the animation even begins - it's easy to see if you have Sheltron up.

That's true, but any tank main will know when he messed up and when the big words in white pop up saying dodge. Their tank is either bad enough to not realise what he did, or trying to avoid culpability for his own mistake.

I don't know which is worse. Honestly, we all make mistakes, we don't all try to hide them.

Probably not, I MT Ravana and I remember seeing a Blinding Blade hit and wondering why I was still full HP with the OT, a DRK in full DPS gear without grit on, not dead. Either the healers had amazing timing with heals or something else happened.

So... maybe?

He wasn't there. The ot has to be there, within range, for the hit to split and affect him. It's a very simple concept.

No, he took damage. Maybe about half of his life bar or so. I, the MT, was the one who took no damage. The Blinding Blade was shared or else he would've been 1 shot. So it was either that I took the damage and was instantly healed so fast that I didn't see the visual drop of my HP bar or that it was dodged.

I have yet to dodge anything in Alex normal or savage with featherfoot. Removed it from my bar for now.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but:

I've always been told that raid bosses cant miss. It doesn't matter how much dodge you have, raid bosses have a 100% hit rate. (Block and parry don't count, because it's still a "hit," it's just mitigated).

I've never seen featherfoot allow me to dodge anything by a raid boss in T1-T8 (I took it off my bars at that point).

This makes Featherfoot completely useless for any endgame boss content. I've never put this back on my bars for this exact reason.

Blind may make a difference, but as I dont have a pld, I cannot test this. My guess would be no. Aren't a lot of bosses are immune to the effect?

You could have just mitigated it completely. That kind of thing can happen, especially as a Paladin. If the Drk ate the full blow, he'd have been left with closer to 10% of his HP left, not half. Drk doesn't have that good physical mitigation at all.

Then you were healed. You certainly didn't dodge it, and unlike the other person you aren't claiming the other tank took full damage. Case solved, onwards Watson!

I did dodge autoattacks with it in A1S. Still not sure if its worth the slot.

This wasn't true in ARR at least, because Perfect Dodge could allow you to dodge raid boss attacks, so if your evasion was 100%, they could miss. It's possible it's been changed now, though (and we can't really test it since they changed the way Perfect Dodge works).

I'm not sure Perfect Dodge counts though, as I think not so much of a boost to your evasion stat, and more of a "you will not be hit by the next physical attack" ability.

I have a 60 WAR though. I'll equip Featherfoot and see if I can get anything conclusive.
