Yeah............ I think they will be just fine :3
Can you speak japanese? You know translations aren't just straight translations. You know why she had to fumble with some of the ability names? Because what we see as Spread is Keep. The english-Japanese name of abilities aren't direct translations so when the time comes to say japanese word for peanut, but in reality when it's japanese word for peanut we say nugget instead. So she has to take that into account she can't say "well the ability to peanut is a very important one." Instead she has to check her notes to make sure the same word is used and if not she has to be certain to say nugget and not peanut. It's not as easy as it sounds.
I'm just glad they had a translator, even if she did fumble with quite a few of the in game terminology, it was way better than trying to just watch the live letter in Japanese and trying to figure out what is going on based on pictures and in game video.
why rip? you get more skills. they will do the same thing as before + more...how is that rip?
she said that sharp cast for blm, would apply proc as an effect, and that would be helpful.......proc isn't an effect.....she was bad cause she doesn't know game terminology.
it ensures crit, if i heard correctly from Yoshi talking.
Astro can use cards of bluff and stack another card on top of that card. They have heal cards, attack cards,TRAPcards, Credit Cards, Greetings Cards, Get Well Cards, etc...
HELL, they probably have Poker Cards to keep teammates occupied while waiting for AFK members!
While Schs and Whms wait around in DF, Astros are out handing out Business Cards! They hold all the Cards man... The other heals have no chance!
The stances are a concern....Basically they are saying a healer stance (WHM) and a defensive stance (SCH).. if the potency of the heals are good, this will DEFINITELY cause double stacking of Astrogians... as they seem to be able to buff/dps as well.
or you could bring a sch and a whm....2 astro wouldn't be able to do more than any other combo.
it's like saying lets stack all smn, cause they can DPS, and res, and tank.
also they buffed whm dps, and allowed for more passive healing...so they can dps/heal. sch can buff/dps/heal, so lets stack 2 sch then...or just go with whatever.
I don't think it changes much, although the thought of "sacrificing" Eos for more potent cures makes me feel sad :<
Just imagine immediately resummoning her and getting chewed out for that move, ala Tinkerbell.
I was wondering.
New action: Emergency Tactics
Instead of adding a barrier effect to Adloquium, this action will give addition healing power for the amount of the effect of the barrier.
This basically makes an Adlo a worse Cure II. What's the point?
Actually I think it's a great addition to have on SCH because Adlo in general on non-crit IS worse than Cure II. Not to mention as SCH is right now, whenever heavy healing is needed, SCH are forced into using Lustrate in combination with their healing which can be dangerous from a progression prospect and making Adlo able to sub as a near Cure II like spell is a good substitute.
As for me I'm really looking forward to AST, a WHM/SCH hybrid is all I ever dreamed.
From the looks of things:
WHM is going to excel even further in burst and regen healing than it currently does, especially with basically getting Sacred Prism and its own Lustrate-style instant mini-benediction
SCH is going to remain a powerful shield healer, but is getting some more tools to assist the cases where it needs AoE/Burst healing
AST will be capable of functioning similarly to either. Probably slightly less effective than either in their strong areas, but capable of providing some alternative party buffs
Adlo per se is already worse than Cure II in terms of raw potency. However, the shield part of Adlo pretty much guarantees zero overhealing. This new skill will just convert the shield part to healing, nothing more. I fail to see how this would be useful in ANY situation. Shield IS basically a heal, with the difference that it cannot overheal.
I don't really understand the scholar moves. Ok?
I won't sacrifice my pet, unless its a full heal to everyone and I don't think it will be.
I won't use the adlo buff much because I barely use adlo anyways. WHMs are much better with Cure II. I would rather just switch to WHM.
A heal stance? I hope not. I already have to dance my stances with the DPS stance, now I have to switch stances and go to a healing stance to heal? The hardest healing class has it even harder.
It would of been MUCH better if it was for Succor and not Adlo, that would of been an amazing buff.
I'm sorry, no one ever mentioned scholar was getting a new heal stance. Where are you getting that from?
I even gave you a situation where it's good. Adlo is nice for preventive damage but it's absolutely awful for actual recovery after a big hit or in chain of big hits. SCH always resort to Physick and Lustrate in those situations, making Adlo able to heal for more at the cost of losing its shield makes them able to weave that in occasionally instead of having to use Aetherflow charges on Lustrate. It makes very much sense and will be incredibly useful for progression.
They even pointed out that the SCH changes and new abilities isn't going to help them all that much in light party content and mostly only in endgame 8man content, this Adlo option is one of those things.
You might have been thinking of astrologian. They are getting a healing stance and a barrier stance.
Yeah, but why not just have a WHM do that instead? What will happen is they will use their big heal when you use yours and nothing will happen (due to overheal). A scholar is better at sustained healing, not big heals and regens. With WHMs having 2 regens now they will probably be a lot better.
Turning Adlo into a HUGE shield, I could see that and would LOVE that. But a big heal? Why? Just play WHM.
WHMs OP. Who needs a SCH or AST when WHMs can power heal through all progression? lol #joking...sortof
I don't think AST sounds OP... the RNG to the class isn't very... appealing to me. I'll have to try it out to really judge the class, of course. I'm hoping there's never going to be a point where the AST's RNG-ness causes a wipe because of x, y and z.
More Max HP is amazing, the reason it is useful is because Scholar and White Mage using a big heal at the same time, which they will means that nothing will happen because they overhealed too much. Meanwhile the scholar could of been keeping up its better sustained healing.
People GREATLY underestimate how awesome max HP is.
How do you figure? Say Adloquium heals the target for 1200 hp. That means that the target also gets a 1200 hp shield on top of that, for a total "recovery" of 2400 hp. However, if adloquium crits the target, it heals for say 1800 hp and then the target in turn get a double shield effect which equals 3600 hp.
So what have we learned from this? If a scholar uses Emergency Tactics and does not crit adloquium, it will heal for about 2400 hp tentatively. If a scholar uses Emergency Tactics and crits the target with adloqium, they will receive a 3600+1800 = 5400 heal! That is pretty damn sexy imo, especially when the whm is tied up party healing and aetherflow stacks are gone.
Now if I am misunderstanding how this is gonna work, then I will feel dumb. But so far this is how I understand it. Keep stacking crit scholars!
No, she was correct. It has nothing to do with Crit. It applies the proc effect. Her wording was weird, but if you actually watched the demonstration it was clear what she said did match what happened in game.
New ability: Sharpcast
After using this ability, the next spell you cast will grant you a guaranteed proc. You’ll want to use this when you want to get a proc with Thunder or Fire. The timing of this ability will also be important.

What if you are solo-healing? Or there is mechanics that ignore Galvanize/Stoneskin similar to Convert? Or what if there are mechanics that work based on current HP % where lower HP means bad things?
Raw Healing and Shield Healing are NOT the same. They are drastically different and have different uses. Adloquium and Succor often suffer greatly for having half their potency tied to the shield (more on Succor than Adlo because of the crit effect on Adlo) but being able to OPTIONALLY turn Adloquium into a stronger raw means you can heal heavy damage more reliably without having to resort to weaving in Lustrate and use up excessive Aetherflow charges you might want to use on something else such as Sacred Soil and Energy Drain or even Bane (or maybe whatever else they'll add that consumes Aetherflow).
Saying "WHM/AST can do it" is just really dumb, then you may as well just accept that people rather take WHM+AST in their compositions because SCH are too stubborn to utilize a good optional tool "because the other healer can do it".
I'm surprised nobody mentioned this helping out double scholar comps. Adlos don't stack, afterall.
I almost spit my tea when I see WHM get "Sacret Soil" skill-look-alike lol. But about the sacrificing fairy... I think it's for balancing the MP consumption with WHM's Cure III?
Sorry, >~< I have been having trouble seeing today.
If i'm solo healing there shouldn't be any problems with needing to heal anyone solo, mostly its the group that needs help more then the tank. In which succor would of been a lot better.
http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Medica_II Stacks.
Succor does not.
You "NEVER" want 2 Scholars. You want 1.
Honestly though, the barrier regen, the normal regen, and medica II regen all together looks SEXY and fun.
I don't think the new WHM skill is going to work like Sacred Soil, even though it looks very similar. I am guessing it will be a heal over time for everyone who is in the bubble (vs. a damage reduction like SS).
I am not sure I grasp your reasoning there.
Assuming that the Crit proc of Adlo also applies when Emergency is active (and this is still not confirmed), it will be 1200 heal + 2400 heal (conversion double shield). That is 3600. Not sure where your 5400 comes from.
I would take a 3600 shield over a 3600 heal ANY day. There is no situation where a heal is better than a shield, unless there will be mechanics which ignore shields. In that case, lol, f**k scholar.
Yeah I agree, the skill seems more like Sacred Prism than Sacred Soil.

"There are abilities, such as Asylum, that creates a healing field"
