Instead of selling those unobtainable items on the cash shop...they could have been prizes for mini games in the gold saucer. Things in the cash shop should have been hairstyles, tattoos, face paints, and the introduction of character accessories (back packs, bandannas, other body piercings, even capes!) If there is anything i learned from the sims is that people would happily spend a large amount of money on vanity items and no one would be upset because none of this has any impact on the game and can't even be held under scrutiny of "withheld content".
SE is missing a HUGE opportunity with this cash shop!

You're right, they're missing a huge opportunity by giving us hairstyles for free. They should put hairstyles and all that other fancy stuff you suggested in the cash shop, and keep the current cash shop items in the cash shop as well. Judging from how happy some people here seem to be to throw their money at SE, they'll make a killing. They don't need a big playerbase, just a few spending happy ones will do.

Some great ideas for the store:
- Tired of grinding FATEs for Atma? no problem....go buy them at the store....hey since you can get them in-game too it's cool to have them at the store. It's just saves time.
- Tired of waiting for a FATE to pop for a book? no problem....go buy a "force X FATE to spawn" item at the store, and then charge people to participate in game before poping it... hey it's cool to have it since you're only saving time.
- Need to meld your scroll? no problem....go buy "materia bundles" from the store.....since you can get those in-game your just saving the time needed to spiritbond an item or the gil to purchase them.

Cash shop should give stuff for people who could get it in-game, but just "can't wait". I think they made a mistake setting it up as it is.
Say I unsubscribed for a month and missed halloween event. "Oh look, I can get the Eerie set for 5$, instead of waiting a year!". That's how it should've worked. In a way, it'd have been similar to the veteran rewards, some can't wait and pay for 90 days to get the next veteran rank immediately. Others, like me, can't afford that, and patiently wait 3 months.
To not find the vendor for the pumpkin heads in today's event was a real disappointment. -

Even minions is fine.. But if they put hairstyles or clothing, especially previous FF character outfits, I might have to flip. That would just be wrong on so many levels. Jandelaine is the only cash shop I need already and breaking game immersion for bucks is NOT okay. If you add things like that and ignore the lore aspect, I will encourage all the hell they'll get.

While I was hoping that more Scion minions would become available through next year's The Rising, I don't have a problem with them selling minions in the shop since technically they already sold minions as bonus items to merchandise. Honestly I'm fine with the general idea of a vanity cash shop, and I've certainly bought plenty of SE merchandise (I have a weak spot for Final Fantasy plushies-- I'd definitely buy the delivery moogle even without the minion) I don't agree, however, that they should offer previous seasonal costumes that they have established tradition of offering from in game vendors both in XIV and XI.Quote:

Its a cash shop for vanity stuff.
If it starts including progression boost stuff then so be it.
The only thing that would be pushing it would be
If you paid like 50$ to get an insta clear of coil ( minus the loot )
But if this game does turn into a F2P / pay to win game, then obvs you can just put the game down and move on. No point of getting pissed as you already experienced the game pre F2P/ P2W so its all good. -

It's a fallacy to believe that if the cash shop didn't exist, this stuff would be given away for free. Rather, the logic SHOULD be: if it weren't for a cash shop, these items wouldn't be available at all. It DOES cost money to implement things, you know. Every single thing has to be tested before it goes out the door to make sure the cactuar earrings don't change your entire head into a cactuar when you put them on.
The cash shop means we'll be getting MORE cosmetic items, not less. Since each and every item's financial loss can be regained by selling it, it means more revenue for the company. Moreover, every single MMO out there and even the vast, VAST majority of single player games these days does exactly this. -

Option 1 got a lot of complaints and still gets complaints (look at the complaints about the TGS 2013 earrings becoming unavailable, as well as all the people sad that they missed the huge number of anniversary events) so it becomes natural to go to option 2.
Now personally I disagree with the precise way they implemented it...the items should still be free DURING the event but should also be for sale all year round. They might actually do this because people are complaining so much (i think the other thread about cash shops is at 75 pages) but I still LIKE the idea of items in the cash shop. -
