Glaring problem with cooking. SE please address. Everyone please support this cause.

Sorry if you read this duplication in General Discussion thought I was posting it in this one so I re-posted here in the correct section.

Currently as cooking stands the upper tier food goods are practically worthless to make in terms of stat bonus they provide and difficulty in crafting compared to lower level ranged foods in the 40-50's.

This goes to show what is the point in crafting the single or double star foods? Currently not much as I will demonstrate below.

Finger Sandwich Double Star LvL 50 item.

Lets consider HQ as it has the highest % and Max cap for the food stuffs in question. So with the above item (tank food lets call it) to hit the caps for the Finger sandwich I would need somewhere along the lines of (27/4)*100 = 675 Parry, (19/3)*100 = 633 Vitality, and (11/2)*100 = 550 accuracy.

Now let us look at the Toast using the same style equations as above. To max out I would be looking for 460 Parry, 350 Vitality, and 450 Accuracy.

Now let us put this into practice. My iLvL 90 warrior with full strength build is sitting around 472 parry, 443 vitality, and 497 accuracy. Full vitality I would be at 514 parry, 518 vitality, and 508 accuracy.

So lets us use the highest stats of either build that would allow us to maximize the caps for the foods above and compare. Where stats are capped will be in blue.

Finger Sandwich:
Parry: [20.6 / 27 vit] 18.9 / 27 str
Vitality: [15.5 / 19 vit] 13.3 / 19 str
Accuracy: [10.2 / 11 vit] 9.9 / 11 str *Of note here this stat could be considered null as already at the cap needed for coil 5 content aka above 480 accuracy in both builds pre-food.*

La Noscean Toast:
Parry: [25.7 (23) / 23 vit] 23.6 (23) / 23 str
Vitality: [20.7 (14) / 14 vit] 17.7 (14) / 14 str
Accuracy: [10.2 (9) / 9 vit] 9.9 (9) / 9 str

So looking back at the stats and the highest placements for finger sandwich and toast let us compare.

Sandwich~~vs.~~Toast
20.6 parry vs 23 in both str and vit builds on toast
15.5 vitality vs 14 in both builds
10.2 accuracy vs 9 in both builds



Summary: In short I feel that the effects of food buffs need to be revisited in order to adjust upwards the potency of the food items as the inferior crafted items give superior stats. To address the argument of "Those double stars were added in to account for future stat growth" I can't take this comment seriously as it assumes cooking would never get any new recipes and if they did the new items with higher caps would again over shadow the 50 double stars with a jump from LvL 40-50 items to the new 50+ foods.

Bonus: This isn't just on one food in case you would like to check the math I will post a few other food items and their primary stat below so you can get an idea of what I mean. All of these will be based off NQ but for HQ just increase the % by +1 so 3% goes to 4% as well as the max amount increasing. Keep in mind as with shown above most LvL 40-50 verison of the below foods have NQ 4% and HQ 5% with a max higher than what would be gained via the 4% from the foods below. The gap is further evident when comparing HQ foods.

You have the wrong idea as to what the problem is. Or, perhaps, just the wrong presentation, giving the impression you have the wrong idea what the problem is.

The problem is that for most people, they do not achieve the same level of benefit using the 2 star food that they would with the under 50 foods. The stat requirements to obtain the maximum benefit is a moot point. What matters is the transition point, the point at which the 2 star food *starts* to be better than the lower level food. Lets look at the foods you listed at the end, one at a time, shall we?

"Lava Toad Legs~~~~~Acc +3% (Max 22) 733 to hit cap vs. Stuffed Cabbage +4% (Max 17) 425 to cap"

In order for the Lava Toad Legs to provide a greater benefit (and I'm going to assume the game is rounding down) you have to get 18 points of Accuracy, or more. That means you need to be at 600 accuracy in order for the Accuracy gain to be better on the 2 star food compared to the lower level food. 18 / 0.03 = 600.

"Black Truffle Risotto~~Det +3% (Max 14) 466 to hit cap vs. Buttons in a Blanket +4% (Max 13) 325 to cap"

Here, because the difference is only one point, the 466 "cap" is indeed the point where you derive a greater benefit from the Risotto than you do from the Buttons. The difference between the two stat points is as large as it is due to the difference in the percentages.

"Pineapple Juice~~~~~Pie +3% (Max 14) 466 to hit cap vs. Mulled Tea +4% (Max 11) 275 to cap"

Just like the Lava Toad Legs and the Stuffed Cabbage, the issue is the point at which the Pineapple Juice starts to be better than the Mulled Tea. In this case, you need to get 12 points of Piety ... or at least 400 Piety.

"Pineapple Ponzcake~~Spell Speed +3% (Max 22) 733 to hit cap vs Pastry Fish +4% (Max 14) 233 to cap *no food in-between this LvL 40 one and the LvL 50 double star version*"

You need 500 Spell Speed for the Pineapple Ponzecake to pull ahead of the Pastry Fish.

"Sauteed Coeurl~~~~~Skill Speed +4% (Max 22) 550 to hit cap vs Eft Steak +4% (Max 21) 425 to cap 525"

Another case where, due to the one point difference in the food caps, it takes maxing out the effect for the 2 star food to be better. However, unlike the Risotto vs Buttons, the percentages here are the same, resulting in a much smaller stat increase required to allow the 2 star food to give a larger benefit.

"Apkallu Omelette~~~~Crit Hit Rate +3% (Max 22) 733 to hit cap vs. Deviled Eggs +4% (Max 19) 475 to cap"

It takes a 20 point Crit Hit Rate gain for the Apkallu Omelette to be better than the Deviled Eggs. 667 will see the 2 star food providing a bigger benefit.

Its not that stats required to cap the 2 star foods are set so high - its that the floors at which they become more effective than the lower level foods are set so high. If you had a max level food that boosted Vitality by 4%, and capped at 1000 Vitality, I do not think that you would be complaining that you cannot reach the 25,000 Vitality required to "cap" the food - you'd be happy enough that you get to go over the gain from the other Vitality foods. And that makes sense, that the highest level foods would provide the biggest benefit.

The problem with the 2 star foods, though, is they are set too low in their percentages. All of the foods of a given type (as defined by matching sets of stats, such as the La Noscean Toast and the Finger Sandwich both having Parry, Vitality, and Accuracy, so they would be the same type, but a food that offers Determination, Vitality, and Accuracy would be a different type) should, depending on their level, have different maximum stat gains, but should all have the same percentages for their stats.

In fact, if you look carefully at it, you will see that the HQ La Noscean Toast has the same percentages as the NQ Finger Sandwiches, with about two-thirds the actual stat caps. The two foods, IMO, should not look like this :
Finger Sandwich 2 star food.
NQ: Parry +3% (Max 22), Vitality +2% (Max 15), Accuracy +2% (Max 9)
HQ: Parry +4% (Max 27), Vitality +3% (Max 19), Accuracy +2% (Max 11)

Part of the reason I feel they should be this way is that, for the most part, the limiting factor is going to be the actual hard cap on the gain from the food, rather than the percentage. Sure, if you are level 5 in your Class and are looking at a level 47 food, you should not expect to reach the caps on it. But at the max level, it should be clear which foods are the best, and having varying percentage modifiers confuses things too much.

You are basically just arguing my point against my point. I never said the Max caps where too high I was saying the %'s were too low to meet and be beneficial. For instance using your examples for the foods to become more viable than their 40-50 equivalent you would need up obtainable or simply un-viable amounts of stats such as 600 accuracy. If I had 600 acc why would I even need an extra 18? I'm over the recommended amount by nearly 100 points without the food. Same as is the case with the other examples and as my last paragraph explained the gaps grow larger in the case of HQ foods as the majority of the ones you referenced were taken from the NQ stat range not HQ.

Not saying you are more correct or I am more correct but I'm saying you assumed I meant something I didn't. I was showing the example of the magnitude of stats needed for 50 double stars to even come close to the stats you could obtain with their 40-50 versions.

Also for your suggestion you would need 550 to get the full 22 on the HQ and 450 to get the 18 on the NQ. I don't know about you but as a tank with full iLvL 90 gear and vit speced the max parry I have 514 base. Meaning the most I can obtain with either set at 4% is 20.6. Again this just proves the point I was trying to make I can get the 21/22 on the HQ Toast because why waste higher mats on 50 double star items that again I would never see an increase in gains since the % is too low. The viable amount you could obtain would never be achieved even if the max cap on the 50's were 5,000,000. You would still only get 4% of your base which would be 20.

I appreciate your well thought out response to my issue I present but again I think you may have missed my point in that I was showing how the % of the food items being lower than their 40-50 versions means stat caps aside as it doesn't matter I will still see more stats from the lower level item as I get more % from it. Its not about min/maxing out the food cap its about when I use a food with 5% max 23 I get all 23 points but with one at 4% max 27 because the 1% difference I miss out on 3 points of parry / spell speeds/ etc... on a higher tier food item which should not happen.

Again why does the higher tier items 50 double star foods have a lower % that makes them always give less stats than their higher % lower cap 40-50 versions. The 50's could have 4% max 300 and I will still always get more stats from the 5% 23 as I can get a theoretical max of 5.14 * 5 = 25.7 [vs] 5.14 * 4 = 20.6.

25.7/23 gives me 23 and 20.6/300 will only give me 20.6. I would rather take the 40-50 food with the 23 over the 20.6.

Now all things being equal even if they set the 50's at the same % rates as the lower tiers i.e. 4% NQ and 5% HQ THEN I could obtain a few more stats but not much as with my gear I have at max 25.7 I could get with the 5% and 20.7 with the 4%. This means even with the increase %, unless they go to something like 5% NQ 6% HQ I would still only get, [20.6/22] and [25.7/27].

So the item I could NQ quick synth all day and that doesn't eat clusters but crystals or shards would still give me only 3 parry points less, of 530 or so mind you, both on NQ and HQ. I would rather save the time in that case. Again I think the MAJOR problem is the lower % rate and the secondary is the stat gain difference is so marginal its laughable unless they increase the % on the double stars by like 2-3% and set them to maybe like 5%/6% or even 6%/7%.

It really does not matter that it takes 215 more points of Parry to cap out the 2 star food than it takes to cap out the level 45 food. What matters is the point at which you are able to obtain more Parry from the 2 star food than you are from the level 45 food. And the other stats on the food, as well.

I am not saying that the idea behind your argument is wrong - the percentages on the i70 food are too low - merely that you are arguing it with meaningless caps.

I figure 2 star foods won't be an issue once they release better gear (i95+). The concern then is "Will they will release 3+ star food with the same problem?" With the way things are, CUL will always be one step behind.

Why not just state this problem simply? Cooking is penalized because their 2-star items are useless due to the lack of ability to reach the caps given. There.

Even the 1-star food, which is all just for crafting, is unnecessary to guarantee hq's from nq mats.

You aren't understanding the argument I am making. The caps are pointless as I said earlier. It could be 5,000,000. The fact is the % is too low on the double stars taking your exact argument into account via the point in which double star food gives the same if not more than the 40-50 version would mean I have to have unobtainable amounts of stats or in the case of acc food if I have 500 acc already, 20 over the recommended needed for coil T5, what is the point of adding another 20? It would make sense to have something like 6% with cap at 25 so if I had 450 lets say I would get 25 of 25 and be at 475 aka within 5 of the recommended cap.

As Alistaire put it, and sorry I refrained from using a over simplified statement like that in order to show the math and reason behind my argument to justify my claim, the 50 double star items are useless as they currently stand.

Also to address your comment Lyrinn I understand that iLvL will increase and there by stats will but the stats needed would be at ridiculous levels to incentives them over the 40-50 foods. And as you say if they add in 50+++ food with the same problem it would only get worse or they would be reconsidered and then people would just bypass the 50++ and once again why even have them in the game at that point?

The problem is two fold.

1) 40-50 foods are superior because the higher % means you get more stats regardless of them being capped to a lower maximum stat gain. In short the capped 23 is better than the none capped 20 I get from 50++ foods. Doesn't matter that with the 40-50 that I am hitting the cap that isn't the important part. The important part is that the higher % makes that food better than the higher level crafted food, so then why even bother having them exists since they are inferior to their lower equivalent.

2) Even if the iLvL gear does progress lets say and they never add any new cooking recipes while everyone else gets new stuff; At the point where I would have enough stats to = or gain more from the 50++ food I would be at such astronomical ranges already I wouldn't have need for the food in the first place.

Regardless we are straying away from the point. As we all have different views on how the problem should be addressed or changed we all can agree at least that there is a problem in the fact that the 50++ food needs to be revisited and changed some way. This is the main cause of this thread to bring attention and movement behind this as I feel since not enough people are being vocal about it this subject gets over looked as other crafts prosper. Please let us agree that at least something should be done and get SE's attention to make the change, whatever it may be, in as swift a manor as possible.

I actually made a post about this on my FC forums, Cocytus. I really do hope gear arrives that helps us make use of the maximum potential of the food or they adjust the %'s.

Thank you and I agree but I feel that they have two options at the moment. They can hold off on adding any new recipes till we obtain those stat amounts but that means no new recipes for cooks for awhile. T_T I feel that would be the biggest slap in the face to the class as a DoH. Hey everyone else gets new stuff except.... you dirty little piece of sh*t cooks.

Or they need to own up to the fact the numbers themselves need to be revisited as even with people hitting maxed out iLvL they aren't anywhere near an amount for the food to work. I don't think both hands were talking to each other on this one meaning the team designing the stat and level progression caps obviously didn't talk to the guys that wrote the math on the food item buffs for the 50++'s. It just feels like they honestly didn't even take the time to cross check their math on the buffs to make sure they would work.

Yes, it is the case that 2-star foods are inferior to lower level foods at the moment. While they have higher potential, those potentials are often difficult or impossible to reach with gear currently available in the game. As others have mentioned, I see this as a deliberate move on SE's part: They predicted that better equipment would be added to the game before new, higher-level recipes will be added to Culinarian.

As such, I doubt they'll be revisiting, as the food is Working As Intended. In the meantime, CULs should not craft it, and no one should eat it, simple as that. If you do craft them, it might be worth hanging onto them until better equipment makes the stats viable.

(As for why folks are buying them NOW - I chalk that one up to folks just not having the patience or ability to do the math, and just grab food with the highest stat caps. Their loss!)

That is precisely why there is a problem with CUL. CUL might as well not even have 2 star crafts. Presumably, higher level crafts will be added when higher level gear is added, and if this trend continues, CUL will always be behind by one tier. Why does it have to be that way?

Higher level crafts will NOT be added when higher level gear is added - that's exactly the point I was trying to make. Adding higher level recipes will likely not happen until there is an increase in the level cap - but new, more powerful gear can be added at any time.

That, I think, was what SE was prepping for: they want existing food to be viable up until they decide to increase the level cap, and so the food needs to be useful for gear that doesn't exist yet that will be added before the level cap increase. Was it the best way to do things? Perhaps not - but it was not an oversight or an accident, it was deliberately planned this way, and it is not "broken".

I don't understand this mentality per say. So what you are trying to say is the reason the high tier food isn't worth a damned compared to the 40-50 ones is because they are for the next tier of iLvL equipment correct? Then the cap will increase and with the a new tier of food will be add that will be useless to the new iLvL gear but will be for the next next iLvL increase. So lets say in 2.2 iLvL goes to 100 and finally some how 50++ food fits it now but also with 2.2 we get say 50+++ food that is useless till iLvL would be increased to 120 or something which would be the next iLvL increase.

So the top tier food should always be 1 step "ahead" and thereby be 1 step behind in usefulness? To what end? Why not make the top tier food match what the top tier iLvL for that patch section would be?

Everyone is making the assumption that we won't get higher iLvl equipment until the level cap raises. Why is that? We already have equipment FAR higher than the current level cap. I was already bemused to learn that folks could equip level 90 gear at level 50; it wouldn't shock me to see gear go all the way up to iLvl 200 before the first true level cap increase ever comes about - and we won't see new recipes until that true level cap increase happens. At this point, character levels are barely a formality, serving the sole purpose of allowing characters to have new job abilities and slightly higher stats.

I believe that either equipment appropriate to double-star food will be added well before the level cap increases, OR SE planned to and backed out for whatever reason. Either way, SE decided that it would be easier to have the food available from the start than it would be to try to shoehorn in the new recipes later once a need for them developed.

So again we are getting recipes before an actual level cap increase and this is verified via the Live Letter instead of based on personal speculation. Worst case scenario the newer food would be just as bad or worse than the 50++ in which case why use anything above 40-50 because you still won't hit higher stats with the lower % even with the incoming new iLvL equipment.

I agree the issue can be looked into. I'd hope we are getting some different gear at some point, so things should be okay in the future if they watch things with care.

Shameful self-bump because I really don't want this topic to get brushed under the table yet again and not get addressed or fixed. Can a developer or someone please acknowledge this complaint or at least look into it and give a response?

While i agree with the "usefullness" arguement i have amassed a fortune on 2Star foods. Profiting over other players lack of knowledge.

I'd like to get your thoughts on another potential problem: the materials of these new 3star items. I'm assuming that Shards will be useless to most engame DOH's in 2.2 with the introduction of thes 3star recipes. Crystals and Clusters will become the new "shards". That being said. I find that 1Star foods currently have more issues than the 2Star foods given that they are solely for the Crafting classes. Essentially rendering Crystals (for cooking) somewhat usless as it stands (asside from cooking Boullabaisse).

The introduction of 1Star DOW/DOM food may be the solution you where looking for assuming the stats where slightly better than the 40-50 dishes we have availalbe to us atm. While not a permanent solution, there could be some potential here.

I personally hope they add new 1star recipes for DOW classes. This would also provide a use for Crystals instead of rendering them absolete as i suspect shards will become in the near future. ATM Fire/Water Crystals are the cheapest on the MB (10-14gil each) and there is no mystery here. The reason for this is the lack of usefullness in 1star Food.

At the moment I would love to see a complete stat over haul of the food items with tweaks to the recipes included. They should have food give buffs not able to be gained otherwise such as mp refresh or increased tp regen or haste even not just stat addition which would be impossible to balance with stat progression.

For the crystal issue I'm not entirely sure why they don't require many food items to use them. I would prefer the 5-6 crystals per synthesis to the 11 shards as for whatever reason they removed alchemy from busting clusters into crystals into shards and you gain shards and crystals and clusters at the same rate off DoL nodes. I would even prefer the 1-2 clusters per synthesis as I can get 15 of those per unspoiled and make 7-15 food items from 1 harvest instead of 1-2.

I just don't understand why they make the material pay in for the food items no were near a payoff in terms of buffs provided by the foods themselves. Lets get some originality SE.

Make the cooks be able to synthesis the base item with the primary and secondary stats on it then flavor/season "cooking meld with spices; the spice used determines the stat or effect placed" the food to get a personal desired third trait.

We are getting higher ilvl gear with higher stats we will be able to get full benefit of 2 star food eventually.

So with the new higher gears and recipes cooks should just get the pass on any new items because their food stat % aren't coded to meet their current end game levels appropriately? Its either that or the new food recipes would either by-pass the 50 double stars or be worse than them which wouldn't make any sense.

I think we can stop using the excuse of they were put in for future gear stat growth now since this would assume that while all the other crafts progress cooking wouldn't until that "future stat growth" matched the food items we have currently. Why put something into the game now that won't be useful until later when then you add in more items that won't be useful until even later still. Wouldn't make any sense even from a progression stand point. You may as well just hold them off until they can be added in with the gear that has the stats in which they would be optimized.

I thank everyone for their input but keeping this thread in-line with the topic, putting what sells or doesn't sell aside or whom cooks or doesn't, I would really like to see more momentum behind fixing these number and math errors from continuing in the game.

SE please listen to your player base. Take the flat stat addition off consumables and add interesting effects to be gained instead. They don't have to be OP to make food necessary but the flat stat bonuses will be impossible to scale into the future of stat growth without invalidating previous generations of consumables.

Gives us things like haste, regen, refresh, increased tp, etc...

One example could be eating spicy curry gives you fire spikes that deals 2% your total HP in damage on hit to enemy. This would roughly be 100-150 damage per hit or upper end tanks at the current iLvL 90 range. If that is the only effect than the food is now worth using since it gives a unique effect without making it overly powerful. This isn't enough damage to tip the scales one way or another in a fight like Titan yet could be valuable for instances in which you tank multiple weaker monsters such as Manor Hard mode or clearing groups of mobs faster in dungeons.

Give us interesting effects not just flat stats on food items. The current double star food items are ineffective as I've already shown rework them with better unique effects.

If you won't add new effects to the current foods then just adjust them and allow cooks to "meld" food with spices and flavoring to place certain other effects into the base stats at the expense of reducing others depends on the effect added.

Ex: Base food cookie: Gives +5% mp refresh
Season with sugar icing>>

1st Success= +5% mp refresh / +20 mind -10 piety
2nd Success= +5% mp refresh / +30 mind -25 piety
3rd Success= +5% mp refresh / +35 mind -45 piety
Failure= Burnt cookie food is destroyed.

Or something to that extent. Maybe instead of sugar icing you can use some other flavoring to give a different sub stat like +vit -crit (paladin food) or +parry -block (warrior food).

This should be easy as you can rework the current foods to hold their primary stat and let us decide which unique flavor effect like regen, refresh, hp stolen per hit, mp stolen per hit, tp stolen per hit, chance on killing blow to survive with 1 hp, etc to add in with the melding aka seasoning system. The effects can start off weak and increase in potency with each addition of the same seasoning or mix and match effects.

Five melds with only five seasonings to pick from would increase the number of unique food items at minimum 5 fold if using 1 of each seasoning. If you mix and match the potency meaning 3 of this one 2 of that you are looking at over 3125 combinations PER base food.

Finger Sandwich: +parry and I choose to season with Garlean Pickles to add +10 tp stolen on hit then put spicy mustard for +1% total hp fire spikes -10 defense.

Mix it up SE or better yet make it so that we can mix it up. You could even sneak some cooking trickery in on use making certain seasons added to certain foods have negative effects such as if I added curry to my pineapple ponzcake instead of getting the fire spikes since that would taste terrible in real life instead it adds on hit I take +2% total hp in damage instead of dealing it back to the monster. That will teach me not to cook terrible tasting food for people. ;)

If you don't I predict this game will become as stale as your recipes and people will avoid them just the same.

This is exactly why I wish they would add a food melding "seasoning" system where the base food holds the flat stats and we can add in unique food effects like hp/mp/tp increased regeneration, hp/tp/mp steal on hit, fire/frost/stone/wind/shock spikes, % Damage taken converted to mp/tp, etc...

The unique effects list could be limited only by their creativity and if they set it up that the initial seasoning would be weak and each sequential addition of that same seasoning increases the potency or addition of a different on adds that unique effect too the possibilities would be limitless. Plus food would be again something players would WANT to use but not necessarily need to use. They don't need to overhaul it to make it OP just interesting.

I'll see if I can come up with some ideas. You know SE listens to everything I say...

I definitely like your idea of having unique qualities of food other than just the same old stat increases all the time. (Just as they ought to add that type of unique "flavour" to materia melding as well, IMO.)

One question, however... Would that kind of "seasoning melding" be done /per item/ or /per stack/? Melding with a static item (equipment) is one thing, but melding with consumables... It would need to be very carefully thought out and implemented to avoid becoming too unbalanced. I.e. if you have to meld a stack of 99 cookies one by one, each of them five times, it's going to be far too time consuming for many to have the patience for it. If you can meld the entire stack in one go, and you'd fail it, rendering all cookies worthless would be agonizing considering you'd most likely have crafted them one by one. Both versions could quite possibly drive up the prices of successfully seasoned food to the point where you'd almost have to ask yourself if it was worth the investment to use them all up ^^; (At least I know I would...)

I would have it set on seasoning the stack but here's the kicker you don't have to use full 99 stacks. If you have 99 break them into 3 x 33 stacks. Sure you have to do the melds 15 times but if you lose 2 of the 3 and get one with all 5 melds, which no reason you couldn't stop at 2 melds or 1 even, that's 33 food items at 990 minuets of playtime. The whole point of this rework is to add some for of economy back into the game without forcing it back in meaning making things players WANT but don't HAVE to use.

Yoshi already said last night on the live letter they are planning a rework for the materia system eventually in the future, so who know maybe they will be going that route with materia as well. I would like to see this type of system put in for cooking especially as it is the only class that doesn't have melding of any kind at all. Even alchemy has the books and staffs.

Side note would love to see a cooking minion being a walking cookie or something. LOL

This while not maximized with the current end game gear of iLvL 90 is so close I can see it being maximized for the stats of the new end sets of iLvL 110. Thank you SE. :)

Now get to work on my food melding idea of seasoning foods with spices and I'll be as happy as a fat chocobo in a gysahl greens processing plant. XD

It was a huge buff. Now if you can cap on the 4X food, you're already better off using 2 star. Cap stats for 2 star are much lower also, so people may be hitting those even before getting full i110.

This WOULD be the case... expect the new stat caps needed for T6-9 won't be the previous 480 acc or whatever. You could probably expect the new cap to be somewhere near 540-560ish is my best guess at this point if not higher.

Now if we could only find the Master Craft book for Culinarian, and scrape the info for any new recipes out of it
