Gilgamesh... you guys think he will come in a FATE?

In my opinion, Gilgamesh probably will come as FATE(maybe a battle like hydra) but if it come in a FATE... we wil lost all the fun because it will be a very fast fight for a great boss >.< so what do you guys think? it will be a fate or a battle like chimera?

I'm kind of hoping he comes as a Trial to be honest. Would be nice and challenging. Some interaction with Odin would be cool too :D

I hope Gilgamesh is given ANYTHING but please please please not another silly FATE. Because the Odin and Behemoth FATEs are really, really lame. I wish those were transplanted and given seperate Trials (maybe 24-person?) to battle them to make them feel more epic and not just zergfests.

Considering that storyline so far, it seems headed that way. That said, I just can't see an open world Gilgamesh that pops every 30 minutes. Would seem wrong.

Simple Answer. NO

The battle is part of a story quest line. (Hildibrand.) So it would be pointless to make it a FATE that pops without quest progression.

They already have that for Hildibrand though, so you can't say they wouldn't.

He might be a FATE for the first fight, but at the end of the FATE he could run away and we get a duty/instance where we fight him solo or in a party. That's how I'd like it anyway.

Battle on the big bridge fate, then duty/instance like a primal fight against him, possibly also on the big bridge =p

Seeing as how fun the Hildebrand questline was, it would really be a shame if it just ended with just a F.A.T.E.
I think they'll put a little more effort into it than they do for the seasonal events.

He will come as rare 24hr spawn, who gets claim + kill gets the drops.

I so wish Odin was a primal/trial fight instead of a horrible fate battle. He is one of the coolest (in my opinion THE coolest) summon/primal in the FF franchise and would have been an awesome 8 man encounter. Please no more fate battles.

I have a feeling he's going to be part of a FATE or an instanced battle like the ones that were common throughout the main storyline/class&job quests since Hildibrand is a side-quest and doesn't require additional people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they created a fight for him later on through the Minstrel for a full on 8 person battle though.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Odin has pretty important ties to the main story that and we'll eventually get an instanced fight for him. One can hope at least. It's bad enough he never spawns when I'm online and I dig the music they made for him.

How to destroy a FF character? Use it in FATE.

I think they should consider making all event fates and Behemoth/Odin and possibly gilgamesh into a fate encounter where you talk to an NPC to engage it.

For Odin/Behemoth there could be a timer in which people can engage in the encounter like let's say players only have 10 minutes to setup a party, get to the area and talk to the person to engage in the instance. The instance would set up in a unique manner in which up to 24 would be able to take part within each instance and they would keep making instances til the timer ran out, but a cooldown would also be placed on players to prevent them from entering another instance if they were to finish behemoth before others.

At least in this concept players could actually enjoy the mechanics of the fight, have a challenge to it and receive gold for the battle rather than silver or worse bronze.

For future events involving Fates, they could have 2 locations for these fates, one in which it takes place in the open world for ease of access for other players and one in which you talk to an NPC to enter an instance with a party allowing those who want a challenge to take up the challenge of the fate and enjoy the mechanics of said encounter.

Because honestly, they take the time to make these mechanics for the fate, but there is no worry of dying or losing the encounter because way to many people are involved within the encounter to bring about any sense of risk of dying.

Instead of instance, why not make it open-world with Odin/Behemouth reserved to the party? Like Leves.
Do it that the NPC show up at random times in random places. The party who speak first to him can attack Odin (20 minutes time to find and kill him). All other people need to wait until the NPC show up again.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be another fate. I'm hoping and praying it isn't, I hope it isn't a instance either.

I'd rather he be an instances trial instead of FATE or open world spawn. Open world and FATE means he will have to be so badly undertuned it will not be a fun encounter. It will be a zergfest with zero accomplishment at the end. Even if he was made tough for open world a nerf would soon come. Too many people will complain he isn't beatable by your typical rag-tag group and be for hardcore only. Which will in turn bring about a whole new era of casual vs hardcore QQ on the forums and in-game alike.

Best way to play it safe to make him a tough encounter is make a hard mode (story mode) and an extreme mode (trial).

It largely depends. If a Gilgamesh instance drops Gilgamesh-themed stuff (Genji Equipment, Gilgamesh Minion, Enkidu Mount/Barding), then that's fine. Though I think they'll handle it like Odin/Behemoth FATEs. Which I am okay with.

So water it down for a few people? That's no fun :< The trials in this game are boring, you just que up and bam there's the boss in this tiny annoying ring. No mini bosses or trash or anything.

So do you think they are never going to make open world bosses? :<

I hope not. FATE serging is stupid and not entertain to do.

Open world means it has to be easy since it's easily accessible by the players. In a trial it can be tuned to be more difficult without the premise that open world will enevitably be under tuned to appeal to the masses. Not once (except old MMO's) have there been very difficult open world bosses. New MMOs make them easy zergfest for easy loot.

I mean look what they did to Odin. They nerfed his Zantetsuken because people couldn't kill him fast enough. Now he's an utter joke that takes no skill the beat. It's fucking Odin. He's not meant to be face-rolled. He kills things just because they get in his way. Not to just stand there like a derp and do aoe's that don't even hurt you as he stands here letting you beating him to death. That's not fun. That's insulting.

What happened to Odin will be what happens to anything open world. Gilgamesh deserves better than that. A LOT BETTER.

The only way I would accept Gilgamesh in a FATE is if you first encounter him in one as part of a quest line. He then runs away where he can be truely fought to the death. How they did it in FFXII was amazing.

All open world bosses deserve to be stronger. a LOT stronger. Odin, Behemonth and which seems to most probable, Gilgamesh, they all deserve to be hundred of times stronger.

I miss old good games when if certain world boss was UP, you could not make it through that area alone, nor even in a small party, and whole guilds had to come to defeat the threat... That was immersive!

I think we are basically doomed to having all interesting events in this game be a thing where we roll up to the appropriate FATE on patch day and try our damndest to tab target and instant cast spells for any semblance of participation credit while 200+ people zerg down the enemy we would love to actually see for more than 15 seconds. FATEs suck for these events.

The Gilgamesh fight itself will be a solo instance I think (at least for the time being.) There will most likely be a FATE thrown into the mix of quests somewhere though.

I think Gilgamesh will come in a cutscene and we wont fight him at all, but certain gentleman will.

So no, it will not be a FATE.... I hope not at least.

I reckon it could be Both Fate and Trial Boss.

In FFXII Gilgamesh had to be fought twice, the second time he was noticably harder.

So a FATE Gilgamesh could be:

1. Gilgamesh in his two armed form

2. Gilgamesh not really trying but he can be dangerous, especially if he comes with Ekindu (His Dog)

3. Ekindu that upon defeat retreats to the "area" where Gilgamesh is (Quest > FATE > Trial)

4. Raid Rare Encounter (Least likely)

I honestly hope they won't butcher Gilgamesh with a 24hour FATE. But if they do happen to go the same path as Behemot and Odin, then I want to be able to trade his tokens for Nael his Gunhalberd! So many times that weapon has been in hands reach only to be dropped/lost. XD

I'm honestly joking about the gunhalberd. I'd prefer the iconic weapon to remain unreachable for the player.

Remember, there is Highbridge near Drybone after all (or is it Horizon?) So there's already a 'big bridge' they can dump a FATE on for it. I think what depresses me the most is for as much flak as FFXIII gets, XIII-2 did encounters so much better than XIV has so far when it comes to "bringing in" other FF elements. What further depresses me is that XIII-2 and/or XII's Gilgamesh will still be the definitive fight.

All in the name of "accessibility" since people would cry if it was gated in any way.

Of course it will be a FATE. SQE's track record for the past few months has shown that if they're going to add anything to the game, it must have a FATE component in it. Hildebrand's quest already had a FATE in it, Crystal Tower needs a FATE to start it off, every seasonal event requires a FATE, even the beastmen dailies require a FATE in some of them.

So yeah.. SQE is going to shove the failed and uninspired FATE system in our face whenever they can because it's easier than designing something interesting.
