Endgame Healer Gear Comparison

So I've been talking with this buddy in my office about how to start gearing for endgame, at least to an adequate level until a good mix of Relic/Darklight/Allagan gear becomes feasible. Essentially the bare minimums needed to get into Titan and Coil groups. So then I started thinking, what is a good set? It started getting all jumbled in my head, clicking around from screen to screen, re-hovering over different items to figure out their stats, trying to commit it to memory 6-7 times as I compare everything

So I made it simple and organized it ALL out.

Below are charts separating each slot of gear and listing each bonus associated with the gear. We don't have an easy way of comparing each and every piece above lvl50, so this really should help everyone as they are getting on their feet. While we are at it though, what do you think everyone should be focusing on as priority?

Disclaimer: I haven't included relic+1 weapons as these are obviously the best and "easiest" (compared to their Allagan counterpart) upgrades for any healer, and it really just comes down to when you should get it, instead of if.

Synthed items are denoted by a *, and have two numbers under a category, denoting NQ-HQ. These synergy items are further elaborated in the hidden box with their Materia caps (work in progress)

Added in the Allagan pieces and I'm glad I did. A lot of these are actually piece for piece recreations, and a lot of them are actually downgrades as far as SCH is concerned. I think in a few cases, Allagan will be the first piece to get until you can afford enough Mythology tokens to get the Heros or Argute set. Allagan is typically well tailored to WHM though, as I see a lot more DET and SSpeed than I do CRIT.

Going from a full DL set, I would recommend Relic body first, then either of the 90 head pieces. If you don't have either of them when you upgrade then downgrade to Warlock's hat from WP. Both of them together are still an upgrade from DL cowl. I myself am skipping the cowl entirely and going straight up from AF to Argute starting next week. Accursed 300 weekly cap...

DL hands, legs, and feet are good for a while, though upgrade the hands to Allagan when you get the chance.

Concerning Accessories, I would aim for full Hero's set. That CRIT man... If your CRIT gets too unbalanced with your DET though, you may want to look into some Allagan to compensate.

Just my personal opinion. Naturally do not neglect shooting for the Omnilex +1, as that too requires three weeks of Mythology farming but will make the biggest gains. The only problem is what do you do while you wait for a half decent group to finally finish titan...

I started with the relic+1 because I had bought the items before I even started Titan so once I got the relic I made the +1 straight away
But I wanted to get the body next but though you needed to get the hat as well as I though the AK/WP head would be a downgrade from the DL cowl

If you have the cowl I wouldn't get the AF body or head very quickly unless you can do both - you don't get a lot of benefit replacing just one of them over DL.

If you haven't bought the cowl (perfectly possible to get through Titan w/o it) the body is a good upgrade even with an AK hat. Then get a Vanya hat to round it out.

Did some work for my fellow healers. Replaced Relic section in Head, Body, Hands, Legs, and Feet with Argute (SCH) and Cleric (WHM). WHMs should be able to more adequately compare their gear as well.

Interesting thing I noticed: VIT, MND, and PIE are all iLV based stats and are set accordingly on each of the i90 pieces. Exceptions you will notice are a +5 bonus to PIE on Cleric's Circlet and Argute Boots. DET, CRIT, and SSp are (aside from the aforementioned exceptions) are your determining factors when comparing your i90 load out. Accessories too have this standard in VIT and MND, while PIE will alternate favor between the two options.

Just throwing it out there for factorage, Rose Gold accessories have a Mind cap of 7.

(Can verify with a cheap 250ish gil Mind III, then get ready to meld the second Mind III, it will cap its benefits off at 7. Went to Mutamix afterward to remove).

It is definitely a close race and you can't go wrong with either (assuming the materia stat caps are equivalent for each, I do not have this knowledge).

Honestly I think the RG Circlet is better, simply because SCHs have little need for PIE, and DET will increase our curing potency, if only so much. Honestly, It comes down to where the stats cap at, and what materia you plan on linking. Of note though, there is no difference between NQ and HQ CRIT on the circlet, so you are down 2 CRIT assuming HQ for both. Again, it all comes down to the materia cap.

Both need 9 items from the tomes but the visor needed for the circlet can also be found on a mob (4% drop) so it could be easier to make

For melding I have no clue what is better out of the 2 yet. Need something I can take to the coil, that's for sure.

having trouble deciding on my next upgrade

i've got my +1, gloves dropped for me last week, and bought my heros ring

i was leaving the body as long as possible incase it dropped in coil, but if that doesn't come this week maybe that should be my next?

if i craft astral accessories how much vit. materia can i meld to it?

It's fairly simple - to get into Coil you need Relic+DL and that's it. That will get you through T4.

From there, Twintania is a coordination, HP, and DPS check. As such in order to pass you must several pieces of EQ with the AF2 level of vitality.

If you are a scholar, pick up your AF2 pants first (Allagan is a T5 drop). I personally picked up the AF2 helm and chest as well. The helm is the same as the Allagan version and I want the critical rate on the chest as opposed to Determination from the Allagan chest.

Picked up my relic body and it is an upgrade of over 200hp bouncing up from AF body. Definitely a great piece. Not quite the difference in curing potential compared to going from Garuda's book to Relic +1, but it gives me a little more room for error when doing DF Titan runs.

So it seems most of the Allagan Pieces have Determination, where the Relic pieces have Spell Speed or Crit. What do you guys think would be more beneficial? How much determination equals 1 point of mind? I was thinking crit would probably be more beneficial than Determination, though i don't know how much determination you need to make a difference. So i'd like to see some info one that, as well as everyone else's opinion! :D

Added on hidden boxes for stat caps for materia melding. It is a difficult thing to do on ones own to test the stat caps for each item single-handedly, so if you have insight on where the stat caps are I appreciate the contribution.

It was recommended to me by an IMO very strong WHM to go this order for myth:

Relic+1 > pants > boots > gloves > ring > body (if not gotten from BC yet) > whatever you want at this point, based on BC drops

How does this sound?

I'd go so far to say it doesn't matter at all. You can pass turn 4 with relic+DL. Anything else is just buffer, which while helpful - is still buffer and not necessary.

Could you pass turn 4 with less, yes but I don't think it's viable to have the entire party at such a low gear level.

The discussion isn't about what is needed to complete endgame content, but rather what the optimum upgrade order is, given where gear drops come from. The order you upgrade does matter when you consider that pants and weapon only drop from T5 which is going to take anyone a good amount of time/practice to win. You'd be wasting tomes if your first purchased item was something that dropped in T1 or T2.

It's a silly discussion, min/maxing in this game basically doesn't matter. Get the ilevel gear and clear content.

Food buffs and potions do more than some "optimal" gear puchasing. However, I agree pants should be early due to the difficulty in obtaining them. Despite that, the rest of the rotation completely depends on the drop RNG. Sorry to say, but that is going to jack up anyone's BIS and purchasing rotations.

I would suggest upgrading things as soon as you can not simply waiting for a drop.

I'm sorry that you think a discussion about how to not waste mythology tomes is silly. Nobody is suggesting to stockpile myth tomes and wait for a specific drop. The only discussion is about what items you are most likely to get via drops due to the number of times that you clear T1/T2 while you are proggressing in T4/T5. I'm not sure why you are confused by this.

You can not get Relic+1, and buy totally random ilevel 90 gear and be just fine through Turn 4. If you think you'll clear coil faster, you will LESSEN chance of doubling up drops by getting the pants. Not because you need them, but because of RNG.

The thing none of this takes into account is that your chance of getting what you want when you want it, is really small. As such, trying to prioritize every little thing is just a crapshoot. Don't delay buying myth gear because you are waiting for some Allagan item. Buy it, improve yourself now, don't wait for something simply because someone told you it's best to follow some static order. The only one you can guarantee is the pant/weap because its Turn 5. *But you don't have to do that.*

Suppose this is a good enough place to ask. For my WHM I have to choose between the Moogle weapon or the Garuda weapon. Which should I use? They're both ilvl 70 and have the same stats overall but Garuda has 9PIE, 21 Spell SPD and 9 Wind Resistance (lol), Moogle has 13PIE, 14 Critical Hit Rate.

My gut says to go with Moogle but I haven't found much info on Spell SPD worth when it comes to healing.

Edit: Just noticed Cast and Recast times are updated on the skills when you equip SpSPD/SkSPD gear (so cool). Looks like I'd have to cast 100 spells consecutively for any actual benefit from Garuda's with my current gear (gives me .02 cast reduction and .01 recast reduction). Critical rate seems to be the better stat in this case then, am I right in this?

Spell Speed in general is just lackluster except in high quantities, same as DET. For WHM, much of your CRIT will be cures in excess unless you habitually keep your tank under 90%. I'm honestly uncertain if CRIT chance is factored per tick, if so then more CRIT would be quite nice for Regen.

I guess your best answer depends on if you habitually gear for more spell speed (go with Garuda), or if you are more DET or CRIT focused (go with moogle).
