Summoner is a Final Fantasy 14 summoner (not a warlock wow clone)

I am personally happy with new summoner. being a dot mage was never fulfilling. your pets where ugly had long list of problems. new fresh looking summoner is how summoner is so post to be.

million dollar jeopardy question. what is a summoner?

A. Summons someone who summons things help them fight
B. Warlock clone from world of warcraft. (ew) with mind you very ugly pets

If anyone has paid attention to this franchises long list of summons, party member summoners then you know answer is A

and no those chicken nugget floating things are not summons. they remade summoner. so later they can summon Shiva and Leviathan even Ramah. yay a mage can utilize all elements in the game

over all feel of summoner so much better then old. summoner has smaller and yet more awesome rotation. let me remind you all current summoner rotation is in fact quote massive. being biggiest in game 35-40 button rotation. new one is solid. 22 button rotation making job feel good is right direction.

Besides Bio/Maisma are more nercomancer spells or some other cast they bring in thats more dedicated to dots or just buff bard to be dots dps of the whole game

But we have final fantasy canonical summoners who cast Black Magic DoTs. You're so eager to hate WoW that you don't even know the series' history.

Rydia's Bio spell is largely outclassed by the summon magic she learns later on in the game. The point of a summoner is to use summon magic. Not poisons. You will never cast a dot when you can summon Bahamut. So yeah, good riddance to affliction warlock smn.

I present to you this ancient meme that was relevant up till recently. These egis were an eyesore and the fact that most of summoner's damage came from poison spells instead of -summons- who looked terrible were some of the top complaints the devs addressed in this rework.


Bahamut and Phoenix took forever to build up to and the rest of the time we had to look at a flying chicken nugget. That wasn't cool, that was pathetic. Now that we are summoning one being after another with trance spells in between, we finally have the class fantasy that we always wanted. So yeah, in the context of the entire FF series, affliction warlock was by far the worst iteration of summoner.

Thank you for admitting that your express purpose is to try and bring everyone's mood down. Misery loves company it seems. In any case you've largely been unsuccessful in convincing most people that the new summoner is bad, so why not do something more productive with your time than trying to turn back time to go back to the affliction warlock days now that the devs have said that "Yeah, we're absolutely done with this design?"

Except it isn't, since initially the class gets to use elemental carbuncles for its early levels to do the same one-off attacks that the egis will proceed to do. They go in, and then get off my screen. We do not have to look at the ugly egi models for more than 2 seconds, and then we get to use cool looking elemental magic. Then once we have Bahamut he sticks around along with Phoenix during their respective trances. Now at 90 and beyond we will no longer have to look at the egis at all, and certainly not at all during the eventual 90-100 levelling during 7.0, and so on for future expansions.

The foundation they've given us is meant to last far longer than just the expansions of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark era. We will continue growing in strength and gaining new abilities but for now we have the base of some really great things coming in the future during the next 10 years. I would hardly consider that a tiny portion of the game. At the moment we do not have specific details as to whether we can glam the egis into carbuncles but it wouldn't surprise me that they retained this option in game and that it wasn't available in the media tour because they didn't flag the characters as having completed the egi glamour quest (or the quest to even be able to dye gear for that matter).

Again, I implore you to do something more productive with your time than trying to convince those of us who are excited for this rework that we should be sad over the loss of a mechanically and visually unimpressive job in favor of everything some of us have been asking for the past 8 years.

Then what you were looking for was Time Mage or Necromancer, not Summoner. If dark poison magic was your thing then Summoner was not the class to co-opt to fulfill these desires. The point of Summoner is to summon beings for cool looking powerful attacks. Not to be a cheaper version of Affliction Warlock with mechanics that felt awful and worked so badly that the devs had to redesign the job.

We will not miss visually unattractive pets who did not even do what you told them to do and whose best attacks hit like wet noodles. One thing is controlling your summons like Yuna did, another is having to micromanage an ugly pet that doesn't know what it's doing. In any case, summons that appear to do their attack and disappear afterwards is how summon magic has worked throughout most numbered FF titles. This issue absolutely mattered because the beings we were summoning most of the time in this game were useless.

Yes, poisons, and other dark magic of that nature is often associated with Necromancy. Such magic doesn't have a place being part of Summoner's kit, seeing as the job is supposed to revolve around summoning iconic gods/entities and not reviving corpses/inflicting diseases on people. Carried it all the way through a rework every single expansion until they finally got rid of the problem that was created by turning Summoner into a warlock because most people ran in the opposite direction whenever the job was mentioned. People overwhelmingly disliked the fact that class was a clunky mess whose summon magic was an afterthought.

Making Summoner into a pure Summoner only angered people who were more married to the warlock aspects of the class than being an actual Summoner. The arguments they've given in this and other threads make me chuckle, because the more they double down on dots and poison magic the more it is strikingly apparent they don't understand what the job is really about. Me and many others tried this affliction warlock and abandoned it for reasons that are obvious to most.

And we will gladly come in droves to replace any lost warlocks come 6.0 when new summoner releases.

I have a used clown wig but you definitely needs it more than me.

Yuna quick attack outclass any of her summons. Except Yojimbo but he's not a summon in XIV and I'm not spending my gils.
Therefore SMN should have Quick book smack.

The point of Yuna is to cast auto raise, quick attack and summon aeons to tank ennemies overdrive.
You'll never summon Bahamut when you can cast Quick Attack.

BONUS: Rydia doesn't have access to healing or res during the "later" part.

FFXIV Summoner was FFXIV Summoner and notusual FF Summoner. FFXIV Summoner included DoTs.

New SMN looks hype, yes I am a little sad about the DoTs, but anyway... I can't stand people claiming SMN wasn't a Summoner before. It was, only in a new FFXIV style.

Okay, question... Summoner summoned things even before the rework. So a Summoner that uses the time between the Summons is no longer a Summoner? Someone that is more active during it all seems more like a skilled Summoner to me than decorative waiting Yuna.

Quit picking words that pleases you out of their context, any 10 year old can do that as well.
Also using metrics in ways that only pleases you. That's an anti-vaxx logic.
Also ignoring facts and logic to disprove your arguments.

XIV SMN has a raise, so is it supposed to be Rydia or Yuna?
Actually why should it be an exact copy of Rydia or Yuna?

Why not... gasp!! Doing something different like every FF iterations did before?

It's like the summoner from XI: Summon big dude, do something, release. Rinse and repeat.
