This. The main issue with Plenary, aside from it hardly ever procing, is that it falls off. By the time you actually want to use the heal, it's gone.
I really don't see why this ability is locked behind so many walls. RNG, single target heals only, multiple stacks and a timer. It's just a heal, it's not even that special.

Because it's an instant free heal you can do every 15 sec. Compared to the others, we have : Tetragrammaton --> 60 sec / Essential Dignity --> 40 sec.
This is a balance question. Now I agree, the inconvenients are too high and this spell don't match the efficiency of Tetra or Essential Dignity.

I don't think fixing Plenary will do anything besides improve our quality of life. Yes it's awful, but even making it less awful of a heal still won't fix the underlying issue.

Astro is king atm because of 20% balance, if you're doing progression raiding you will take an astro; weather it be diurnal or nocturnal for balance. White mage seems appealing atm because scholar got beat with the nerf bat but I sincerely doubt (I may be eating my words in a few days), that they'll let scholar stay the way it is. At that point we go back to 3.4 days.

It's dumb that a nocturnal astro can completely nullify susanoo extremes push back with an instant cast less MP used shield compare to scholar, and that's not even the tip of the iceberg, but that's saved for another post about a different topic. So once scholar gets fixed outside of early progression for a safety net why would you take a white mage? Because you personally enjoy the flavor of the class more than astro? That's perfectly fine if your group is okay with it, but even with your groups consent that doesn't change the fact that you do not have balance so you'll be hindering overall raid DPS and prolonging the fight by not being an astro. True you'll be able to heal damage in less GCD's than an astro and can go back to DPSing quicker but your personal DPS does not outweigh 10% balance on the whole group.

Scholar brings chain stratagem to the group, and astro has resource cards + balance. You could even argue that you could bring another melee DPS or caster and forgo bard/mechanic entirely if you play your cards right if savage omega is as lenient as creator. With double goad and mana shifting going around it may actually end up being viable. Probably not for early progression because bards tactician and refresh are an insane safety net but when everyone knows the fight?

Thin air may be amazing, and our MP management might be great but that doesn't improve raid DPS. If ballad still incurred a damage penalty we could argue that...but not anymore lol. White mage will be viable in all content, it will be able to beat anything and have good MP management. But it will not be competitive in the raid scene unless it gets utility or balance gets reduced to 10%, like in midas days. That's when healer balance (ignoring nocturnal astro), was best imo.

But considering that Yoshi didn't even comment on the state of healers and only talked about tanks/DPS in that forum post maybe all healers being viable is enough for SE. If so, I feel for my scholar brothern and sisters, lol. I hope that train of thought is completely wrong, but we'll see in a few days.

That's why I've been saying this whole time that confessions should be an actual buff that PI extends. We'll buff through healing and extend it through healing.

Of course, that won't happen.

Then don't give us another heal. I mean, it's not like the WHM community has been begging for new heals. If anything, the exact opposite. PI is a totally unnecessary skill for the WHM which makes the fact it's our level 70 skill and so useless all the more disappointing.

After getting White Mage to 70 and using it in some raids, I have some thoughts... :thinking emoji:

Lilies:
I think the current mechanic of the lilies is silly and needs to be re-done.
If not re-done, I think the level 68 trait could at least be changed to effect Spell Speed.
1 Lily: 5% SpS
2 Lilies: 10% SpS
3 Lilies: 15% SpS

Divine Benison:
Because you took Stoneskin away from us, I think this could also use a buff. It's very weak at the moment.
Again, with the Lilies.
1 Lily: 15% Shield
2 Lilies: 20% Shield
3 Lilies: 25% Shield

Plenary Indulgence:
Oh boy, where do I begin.
Please remove the timer on the Confession buff or increase the chance of occurrence. 20% is way too low.
I also think it should be able to proc on Medica and Medica II, we can leave Assize out of that for balance.
With as many fights as there are spitting out AoE left and right, any WHM worth their salt is not going to single target heal all 7 party members. That's just silly and not MP efficient.

We need more incentive to build and maintain lilies. A silly 4%/10%/20% recast reduction on abilities that are already short as it is, is not really a fun mechanic.
White Mage just doesn't feel interactive enough. Though a solid job and healer, it's very boring.

Building lilies to buff up your Spell Speed is nice incentive, then being able to decide whether or not to use them for our other abilities adds strategy to the job. It makes it more interactive.
It's just... silly to build them up just to spend them because they're there. *shrug*

Until SE addresses the underlying issues with WHM then mine will rot at 60 never to be played again.

It's an instant free heal you can do every 15 seconds, assuming you're spamming Cure/Cure 2 enough to get a confession every 15 seconds, assuming the confession is on the target you want to heal with PI, and assuming you need that healing before the confession falls off.

That's an awful lot of assumptions, and that's the problem with PI in a nutshell.

It, litteraly does nothing, even with 3 stacks of buff xD

I'm still on the fence with PI it seems to be designed around the WHM potentially healing more then one person with Cure/Cure2? It's certainly a confusing spell, it does work though, and is a pretty fast heal, but I've only used it in the two level 70 dungeons so far. It would be nicer if it proc'd on the WHM instead and potentially showed up on the Lily Gauge.

As for lily system in all honesty it feels like SE didn't even care, they got everyone else setup with a resource system and got to WHM and was like "meh, this will do". It's not a terrible system, but there is no feeling of lose whenever I run stuff without access to it at all.

-Give a Bonus to having Lilies up, healing/spellspeed or something, potentially have it increase confession procs too.
-Let lilies affect more spells, Presence of Mind, Benidiction, and Thin Air, maybe even role skills if that's not too unbalanced.
-Not lily related but job specific, get rid of Fluid Aura and Repose, give WHM's something else.

SE, pleaaase fix the lily system.

Because by now I have seen an ungodly amount of (other) WHMs pretty much switching their play style from "use AoE heals as needed" to fishing for confessions/lillies with cure 2s, and there were plenty of wipes because of that.

If you design a mechanic all around an action that should ACTUALLY be used only occasionally (a single player needs a major heal with cure 2) you send the wrong message to obviously quite a few players, and this causes BAD playing and -- since we are talking healers here -- wipes.

Many others have said it already: Make confessions stack on the healer and without a timer. Make Benison use only 1 lily. And make lilies proc from everything a white mage SHOULD be using a lot (regen, medica) in addition to cure 2 (and the ridiculously low chance of cure 1 no one uses that often anyway...) so we have a decent supply. Do not send the wrong signal "you should be casting lots of cures".

It is obvious by now that this was designed for PvP, where it makes A LOT of sense, and turns my WHM into the absolute monster-healer. In PvE it is ridiculous.

ETA: And seriously: Stop screwing up our supply of lilies with the use of CDs. Essentially you are "punishing" us that way for using CDs as we should by robbing us of our lilies we need for Benison. Everything else is a bad joke. CDs are used when needed, not when they are down from CD. "Use as soon as back from cooldown" is what DPS do, not what healers do.

According to Live Letter, changes to Cure II and Lilies coming. (not very descriptive...)

Apparently the Cure was mistranslated but it may be P1. I honestly thought more would be changed like Healers Cross Role.
Sch is being changed/buffed.
Astro getting a QoL change.
4.1 Cards, Aetherflow may be added to party list.

Hoping Changes happen To Divine Bension, Whm traits, and P1 is changed to some form of utility. Doubt it though.

Here is my assessment for now. After running dungeons and clearing both ex primals and Omega. I am not expecting savage to be that much different. I am looking at the system at its core
not the damage/heal output those are things that can be tweaked.

Benision... sigh I rarely use it maybe that's my flawed play but the fact it uses up all lilies simply makes it to random for me.
And I feel I am being held at ransom most of the time so I tend to ignore it.
I rather use the lilies for the other skills that are more useful in the long run (Assize, Tetra etc.).

Solution Make it consume 1 Lilly period.
Why? because then it might make it worth weighing your options during a fight and give you the option of using it more often without accidentally locking yourself out of the skill the moment you proc a second Lilly

eg. If your have 3 lilies and/or you have a situation where some raid wide damage is incoming and you see multiple people low on health and/or out of range for a proper aoe heal.
You can either choose to multi shield some people or go for the shorter cd on skills. It would make the class a little more dynamic I think.

Planetary indulgent and confessions.. where to even start with this one.

I thought the vision for stormblood was fixing classes so that they wont have to stare at their buffbars constantly?
So why would you introduce this for the WHM class? If I would try to make proper use of this confession mechanic staring at the party buff bar would take up the majority of the fights I am healing.
Tbh if it would not have been our max lv skill I might have been more lenient towards it but the fact its our max lv skil and added mechanic to our class, the current system is unacceptable tbh.

First I have seen a handful of confessions during raids and even less during dungeons.
Second most of them go on the tanks, not to mention on moments they dont require any additional healing because the actual heal they received that procced the confession already topped them off.
Most of the time the stack drops of again before I actually have use for it. Same for the few confession stacks I managed to get on the DPS. Not to mention the missed procs that I simply dint notice.

current system: when I do see planetary light up I need to look through the tiny buffs on the party frames.
Then find out who it has and if that person needs healing not (because the rate is so low you dont want to waste it) not to mention if there's a other WHM in the party which buff is actually mine on top of that! Its just to distracting.
Right now I am actually considering just ignoring it completely (I have done completely fine without it.)
If I do notice it light up I either just press it if it heals it heals if it doesn't because the person is full health already meh.. no skin of my back )

Don't get me wrong the system has its potential if implemented in a correct way.
Right now I really wished this would have actually been the focus of our new healing System and the WHM hud we have would actually have been build displaying this mechanic next to the current lilly system (more classes have Dual hud elements )

My main problem with this system is that its hard to track actual stacks, on who those stacks are and what the duration is. if they would proc more often and or would not have a timer
then I dont really care on who they are. Overhealing or healing people with full health will happen regardlessy, because that is how you have build this mechanic to begin with.
So that is what I will be ignoring completly in my solution.
If its possible to track the stacks in a normal matter either with or without timer I will be happy If I just have a general idea about the distribution of the amount of stacks across my party.

Solution:
this system can have multiple solutions which range from low change of implementation to high change (rework of the whole system).


Low change
Proc rate needs to go way up if SE is dead set on keeping it proc only off Cure 1 and 2 and keep it on a timer(current system)
or keep it as it is (current proc rate and proc system) but lose the duration of the stacks.

Medium change
Make it proc of all of our healing skills tweak the proc rate appropriately (with regen, medica and medica 2 being a lower rate because they are dots/Aoe) either keep the timer
or decide to remove the timer and introduce a max amount of stacks you can put up on someone.

These 2 options are my least favorable options because they are basically quick fixes of a system that has other core issues and it contradicts the vision you as SE had for Stormblood. eg. people not staring at there buffbars.
But I can understand if its gets implemented. and I will deal with it for SB and hope for a rework in the next exspac.

Complete rework:
Redo the HUD split it up in 2 parts use the current art as base.

Requirements:
Confessions can only be procced in your own party (reason for this ill explain later)
Decide if you keep it on a timer or not
Decide number of max stack (Was thinking about 3 maybe 4max to keep some dynamic element in it) and if you put it on a timer this might be a good amount to get during the timer.
Decide Proc rate and the skills it procs of.
the current lily system (eg reducing CD stays as secondary element) rename it to blessing of the water elemental(or something else creative) (instead of lilies you generate droplets)
(the little droplets are already part of the current artwork as static art they are basically become the second element of our HUD)

example Spit our current art up in 2 separate parts (Similair to the SCH Hud the way they track Aetherstacks)



Basic system

The confession becomes the new lilly system they will be tracked in the new Hud (you can make a design choice to either track them globally or on party member basis)
Confessions proc in different rates -High (Cure, Cure2) -Medium (Cure3, Assize) -Low(Medica, Medica 2, Regen) -Guaranteed(Tetra)

Global tracking
If you track them globally the confession stacks will be on the WHM themselves and the amount of stacks basically represent the range and potency of the heal done (it will basically turn in a glorified medica/Cure3)
eg if you have between 1-3 stacks its has the range of Cure3 but more potent then Cure3.

Possible Ranges:
1-3 Range cure3 Buffed up Cure3
4-6 Range Medica Buffed Medica
7-9 Full Range(like how the confession stacks work now) But buffed Medica2 instead. lower potency or shorter Dot regen then normal Medica2
10 Optional!: Added effect: Group shield aka benison or if you want to get creative little Faith/bravery proc for a couple of seconds) possibilities are endless I guess.
basically if you decide to add the 10th stack it should be something exciting to get it should not be too easy to get but it should be a nice risk/reward thing.

With this option you have the choice of keeping the timer or not.
Because you can add the timer to the hud and because its tracked on the WHM itself you can display this nicely in the hud as well!
eg. reuse of the 3 current lillies (but instead they have 3 phases 1 Bulb - 2 Closed flower - 3 Open flower and because the hud has placement for 3 flowers already it fits nicely with the 1-9 stack system.
If you add the 10th stack the flowers start pulsating or glow)
And you can tweak the procrate based on having a timer and/or if you decided to add the 10th bonus stack.


Individual tracking.
If you track them individually the hud needs to accommodate being able to display 7 confession elements (dont think you can put confessions on yourself so the spot of the 8th element (yourself) stays empty or can be used as a timer element).
(the reason above why I said your only able to proc them in your own group.)
think of the current lilly elements just 7 of them.
There will be a max of 3 stacks. (see above about the flower stages bulb,closed flower, open flower)
Basically every element represent a party member (only big issue I see with this solution? Seeing is its possible to sort your party list in different ways how are you going to display this in the HUD?).
Might be forced by internal allocation based on party list or prio system (eg. tanks always near the top then healer then dps etc)

But personally for me as stated earlier in my post I dont really need to know specific who is who on the HUD as long as I have a good visual on how many stacks are up globally and what the remaining timer is then I would find this acceptable as well.
Like stated before with how this system is implemented you end up over healing or healing people at full health anyway because of the limitations of the timer.


Personally I find the global tracking option the most interesting. Because it becomes our own mechanic of confession building next to the current lillie aka Droplet generation system
during a fight. And the higher let the stacks get the more interesting the skill becomes (eg instant buffed cure3 to buffed instant medica2 or even something more unique like a instant party heal with short buff or even a unique buff)
while the individual tracking is just basically there to deal with the current system and make it manageable.

In terms of the rate of lilies, maybe regen or medica will proc them and veryy vague on Plenary Indulgence change but the notes will be ready in a few days so not much time to wait.

Good luck getting a lily if the tanks, or all other party members, are at full health and not taking any damage. In 4-man content it's practically an off spell in case all your other lily-based procs are on cooldown. And sure, it doesn't have a cast time. But if you're having to cast Cure II just to use it, and this has been said before, you've given it a cast time.

That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying there are times that you can use it. For example I use it constantly during Susan Extreme. Generally I do this: precast Cure II so it lands right as Stormsplitter lands and then cast DB on the tank that just swapped in. I also like to make use of DB during the sword phase by precasting Cure II as the OT grabs the first orb and then drop a DB on them.

Also how do you not give DB a cast time? It requires lilies which can only be gained by using Cure and Cure II, which always have a cast time.

You shouldn't even worry about lilies as of right now they're pretty ignorable. I tend to use Benison on the tank after the last mob in a trash pull dies so I always make sure the tank isn't overhealed to get that lily if I don't have it already. In other cases I just use it before tankbusters or on people who are almost dead before I heal them up if Tetra or Benediction aren't up yet. But I do agree DB could use some minor tweaks like scale off of the lilies instead (15%/20%/25%) so that it feels more impactful.

I'm wanting to be hopeful about the supposed changes, but...i'm waiting on the patch notes to know for sure if it's going to be good. Though, let's be honest...there's any bit of minor changes that would make PI better.....

and plenty of suggestions as to what would improve WHM in this thread alone.

Saying all this would mean that using NIN if you have a bad connection is "unreliable" and "bad". Yes, just like NIN, it's not as GOOD but it's still usable. You have to learn to work with your connection. I had a really bad connection for like 6 years and I learned to deal with it.

This... this literally makes no sense and is not how it would work at all.
Lets say you have a poor connection that gives you a lag of 1 second and I do not.

If I pre-cast Cure II on a tank and it goes off just after they take damage I will get a lily.

How, if you have a 1 second delay due to poor connection, if you start casting at the same time I did in my fight cause the server to think you healed a full-health target? IF, somehow you have an internet connection that is so bad that it somehow causes you to overheal all the time when you pre-cast healing then you should probably either: a. switch servers or b. stop healing because this is a big, BIG deal for healers.

This sounds more like you are pre-casting too early or are coming up with some excuse to make it seem worse than it is. Divine Benison is free, it doesn't matter if you have to cast Cure II before han. If anything it just makes Cure II stronger than it already is.

It makes perfect sense, and is the same reason people still get hit by AoEs despite being clearly out of them on your screen or theirs. So yes it's a problem when Lily generation is based solely on whether or not the target has full HP when the heal hits your target, because even if the heal hits after they have lost health the system still has to confirm it. And if it's in any way slow, and there's not much I can do about that because every data center is an equal distance from my location, your chances of lilies generating is no longer 100%.

And having to cast Cure II to even use Divine Benison makes that argument invalid. It's no longer free if I have to overheal just to use it, regardless of how you word it.

I main WHM, and running with these new skills are quite disappointing.. if only those lilies are consumed just like Aether Flow stacks and not blow them away in an instant with assize or tetragrammaton, make all heals or anything whm do build lilies. Also the fluid aura.. dear god.. why would they remove the damage.. it's part of the rotation poking boss or monsters with water with damage is fun. also the divine benison, what the hell is that it consumes all lilies, they could've somehow make it a group buff instead of a solo buff..

Wish we have unique skills :( other healers are so fancy and shinny as Mr.T's Bling.

Sorry but this is a ridiculous post.

Lillies are in no way PERFECT, we all know that. However, they are manageable.

As for whm not using AOE heals because they are focused on lillies, that's not a problem with the Lillie sistem, it's a problem with the players who don't have half enough of a brain to know that a stacked aoe ability should time Cure III to go off as the ability lands.

I have experienced "got out of AoEs but still got hit" but I have never, ever experienced my heals counting as healing a full-health target when I pre-cast my spells. But again, if this happens to you you may need to not use WHM, or stop healing all together because if it is soooo bad that it makes DB unusable for you then you are not a reliable healer for your team. Also, if you are able to figure out how to work with your connection to deal with mechanics then you should be able to figure out how to pre-cast heals to get them off after the target takes damage.

Anyway, no one said anything about overhealing. You don't need to overheal, or use cure II for that matter, to get DB out.

Take a player who is new to healing. Have the game tell them they should be using Cure and Cure 2 to get lilies. What do you think will happen?

People who already know better won't fall into that trap. Some newbies will.

And this is why I just completely ignore the lily mechanic. Saving those lilies for something but someone needs insta-heal but not bene worth? Well, there they all go because you used tetra. If DB happens to light up, I use it. Otherwise I completely ignore the lily gauge.

Have to watch party bars.
Have to watch focus target.
Have to watch main tank.
Have to watch screen/enemy movement.
Have to watch mechanics.

Now have to watch lily crap.

Hi everyone! I figured I would throw in some ideas that could be fun to implement! All of the numbers and such could be adjusted but the foundation is there.

What I would love to see would be a revamped Lily system that automatically generate lilies over time (say 1 lily every 15 seconds) and can stack to three. The white mage would be given an ability to consume a lily which would then alter the effect of the next spell used.

Keeping the “Pure Healer” idea in mind while trying not to step on other healer’s niches, some examples could included:
Cure I – After 5 seconds the target is healed again for a cure I potency (unable to crit).
Cure II – Puts a short duration shield on the target for 15% of their max hp. (This could replace divine benison)
Cure III – Instant Cast
Medica – Heals targets below 50% of their max hp for 50% more.
Medica II – No mana cost.
Regen – Applies a Nature’s Regen that can stack with a normal regen.

Plenary Indulgence also could be reworked. If I am correct indulgence in this sense is paying to have ones sins absolved so why not make it an AoE heal that consumes all current regen effects (regen, nature’s regen, and medica II) and has a base heal that scales with each regen effect consumed? Thusly you are "paying" your regens to reap a reward!

Certainly unique, but those changes would push both AST and SCH out of the meta. There would be no need for a second healer if WHM could do all that on its own. xD

Edit: One ability I really wanted WHM to get in 4.0 was Pray. It's generally a weak spell, so it wouldn't be a reliable AoE heal, but it would be something free and instant which, as seen in FF games, could also have an additional effect. Whether it's a low MP/TP regen or some kind of buff. It fits in well with WHM and afaik was a pretty iconic ability for them.

Still don't see why scholar got all these changes and we've been complaining for months..

Most of the WHM complaining came before 4.0 was even released. Upon release most people realised that WHMs needed a few tweaks at most, whereas SCH basically needs a rework. Lilies and PI were the biggest complaints, and tbf they are at least looking into that for tomorrow.

We don't know all the changes just yet, but what they listed for SCH isn't even what most SCHs wanted. We wanted to keep our identity as a mitigation healer, and they haven't mentioned any buffs to that yet, and the Faerie is staying at 250 potency, Dissipation unchanged etc etc. So you should probably be happy that WHMs are actually getting changes in the areas they have requested. o/

To be honest, I'd be happy with plenary indulgence having a change and sure give me more lilies. But what I really think we should have is an added effect to asylum adding an MP Regen. Or even a Regen like ability that let's us replenish MP but cast it on others. It would provide utility towards dps.

In b4 that sweet 70 potency, nonspammable Aoe all the gud schs have been asking for. Just the name miasma ii is going to send me into shock ;-;. Ask for a spammable low potency aoe [65 potency to match the ratio of blizzard II] get another dot.... curious about patch notes but i seriously dislike the person guiding SCH.... They seriously still think dissipation is too powerful?? :[

Plenary Indulgence

Party members will no longer be granted a Confession when HP is restored via Cure and Cure II. They will instead be granted a Confession when HP is restored via Medica, Medica II, or Cure III.
The chance of granting party members a Confession has been increased from 20% to 100%.
The duration of the Confession has been reduced from 30 to 10 seconds.
Healing potency based on the number of stacks of Confession has been reduced from 400 for one stack, 500 for two stacks, and 600 for three stacks to 150 for one stack, 300 for two stacks, and 450 for three stacks.
Recast time increased from 15 to 60 seconds.
Confession stacks will now also be granted to the player casting Medica, Medica II, or Cure III.

Okay..i'm fine with a down to Potency...not sure about 60s, and do the Medica 2 ticks count? the 10 seconds...seems...to make them even...less, worse...possibly?

I'm having a hard time thinking of a situation in which I'd use the new PI and feel "this was good; this was better than using another AoE heal". I mean, free healing, yay? And once a minute (if that)? Instead of just casting 1 more Medica and letting the already-cast-Medica II regen everyone up?

Maybe I'm just not that creative at this hour.

IMO, Plenary is still going to be rarely used for me, they really don't know what to do with it.

Confession Timer is on 10 seconds? why change it.
Potency down? well yeah that's fine, it's an AoE heal but still think it's abit too much, it's our 70 skill, it's mean't to be great.
60 Second cooldown? Far too long, 30 seconds maybe? that's pushing it still.

It's great the stacks are now 100% but I don't plan on spamming Medica just to cast a worthless potency heal, especially when I have Assize ready or Medica 2 healing everyone.

Free AOE whenever a single Medica 2 isn't enough to top ppl in time. I'll take that.
