Post Your Solution For Gil Generation

I have 50 Armourer and 50 Blacksmith. I have made over 500k gil making large amounts of Darksteel Nuggets. I buy the Ore needed to make the Nuggets and I make as many Nuggets as I can. My Profitable gain becomes greater and greater every time I do this as I invest all of my batch profits to my next bigger batch. The only issues I have ever had with this method is the notorious Under-Cutters.

I don't want to craft or gather Give it to me, i want it now why should i have to craft i like sitting on my mount all day it's not fair why should i have to work in a mmo to earn gil what a crock of crap.

if square enix gives in to these people I will cancel my sub and so will all my friends i brought with me from other mmo's if you can't take the time to craft to earn some money then don't complain and don't play mmo's.

In WoW i crafted AND made Tons of Gold
In FFxi i crafted and made tons of Gil
In Swtor i crafted and made tons of credits


stop acting like a spoiled rich kid and get off your arse and get a tradeskill this is not a welfare system game.

The steps to making gil

hit level 10 choose a trade/field craft in the nation you are currently in once you get airship pass get the other trades does not mean you have to do them but why not you might like them the benefits of doing trades lv 20/25 and up you can meld and repair your own gear that saves you a ton of money play smart and you will enjoy game more in the long run.

I think you missed the point entirely. Whether or not someone crafts/gathers to increase their personal wealth is not the issue at stake here. The only way to GENERATE gil by crafting is either completing leves (ok) or npc-ing the products (bad). Selling wares on the market board only moves gil from one person to the next (and actually REMOVES gil from the economy via tax).

Why are we still excluding the market board from Gil generation? Every MMO uses the market as the best means of generating currency (from the players stand point). Yes, you using the market board will not add anything to the economy, but you alone also don't need to make all the Gil that you plan to use in the economy either. The market board is a way to simplify the flow of currency across the servers economy as a whole.

The amount of currency generated by those who level is the defining feature of what fuels the market. Ignoring the new currency from new characters is ignoring the basis of the economy. Your basically ignoring this entire flow of Gil by excluding the market boards entirely.

Unless someone can flat out show that the total amount of Gil gained by all players leveling and doing Leve's is less then what goes to the Gil sinks, then I can't see why there would be a short flow of Gil.

This thread should just be re-named to "How can I make Gil on a dead server?".

And, if your really concerned about a specific servers market, then you can just make a new character!

Nobody's ignoring how to make personal gil. But that's the point you're refusing to understand. Market Board-generated gil is PERSONAL gil.

What this thread is about isn't about making personal gil. It's about ensuring that the economy has a healthy revenue on a macro level. It's absurd to insult people when you don't understand what this thread is really about. Hint: the majority of people in here who are concerned about the overall gil generation for the game aren't people who have ANY problems with personal gil generation.

Edit: It's the height of irony that you call out "lazy players" while being so intellectually lazy that you not only refuse to understand the problem people are talking about but also refuse to even grasp the most basic of economic terms when explained clearly.

Every person in my blackballed gil seller page needs to loose all their money and have it passed over to all of us, collectively.

Remember, they wouldn't be there unless people bought their money, they wouldn't need to buy their money if people would have normal prices for normal items. Materia 3 & 4 for gladiator. 700,000 gil? My current, gil 63,000 from quests and fates.
Cause and effect.

The likelyhood of me starting or finishing relic's from purchased gil or any other artificial bs method 0%.

They just need to increase gil gained from levequests signifigantly. Since they are time based and cannot be spammed, so it will never become an issue.

apologies if these has be mentioned before, but here's my ideas:

1) mercenary work, get hired to kill/capture some kind of crazy hard boss ( or NM ) ... can only be you and another **only you and a healer I guess?** and make decent gil when the job is done...
2) gamble, being able to take the little gil you do have and give it up for a small chance to double to triple it, etc.... a casino as it were
3) being able to sell most of your drops from AK or the like, I know it probably won't sell for much with so many people spamming AK all the time, but at least it's something..
4) bring back anima as you FIRST means of travel, then spend gil when you have to...
5) being able to beat up people and take their money.... <<< lol. I'm kidding, I'm kidding.. or I am? ... crafters beware!!! ^^

It's not a dev posting. It's a posted link to an interview, and you can find it yourself. Further, you're entitled to hold any opinion you wish. The facts are, however, that gil generation in general is too low (particularly owing to the fact that the only reason it's not a negative flow already is because of the influx from folks finishing their one-offs from quests).

Simple solution give us more quests... Maybe make some repeatable... Or Reset the quest log when you change jobs.

Imo, the amount of gil generated is good enough.

In the last mmo, easily 1 billion coins were being injected in the market easily. That's still happening, and guess what happened? Everything is more expensive, some people have almost no coins, and others are like in-game versions of Bill Gates.

Atm, we get money though leves, and quest. That's more than enough. Why do we need to have 1 million coins if our buying power is going to be the same anyway. If you want to make money, go gather mats, or craft and sell.

Simple solution.. Gil leves.. only available at 50 .. make them semi difficult but make gil rewards comparable to xp u would obtain. . could even reward allgan instead of actual gold .. that's my suggestion

You're all complaining about nothing.

If you farm materials, spiritbond/convert, craft, or gather, sell tomb materials, you will make plenty of gil.
I make minimum 100K a day.
Spiritbonding/converting level 49-50 jewelry set gives me 5 level III materia which I sell on market for 8K each minimum and can be done from just running dungeons. - Usually 50-80K a set.
Gathering materials through a gathering class like fishing, botany or mining works perfectly as some crafters would rather pay instead of gather themselves. - 100K+ per day
Farm materials like diremite web, fleece, snurble tufts etc - this leads to minimum 40K a stack, time varies for stack depending on competition.
Crafting - turn those raw materials you've gathered into base materials eg. Flax into linen yarn then sell on linen yarn on market - 50K per stack minimum
Sell Tomb Materials - You can use tombs to buy potash and other high end materials and they sell for 30K+ each and cost 125 tombs I believe.

Anyone complaining is just a sook and wants to just run AK constantly forever and still make millions fast.

I think it should be fun not boring to make money ... how bet a betting system on choco races .. or u can bet on pvp fights wager if u win

they arent complaining about being able to make cash from market board. They are concerned about the fall of the economy since the amount of gil sink outweigh the games ability to PRODUCE gil into the game.. I just wish there were more things we could use with our Seals once we reach Second [Company name here] Lieutenant, specially in the accessories department. Right now I am sitting on 30k+ Seals and i have no idea what to do with them besides dumping everything on the Chocobo chick with a helmet or lower level items. This argument ignores that with work one can cover their "bills". Some people just don't want to do the work which was an inevitable mindset for players when the game was set to easy mode. I don't want to do the work, either. I don't want to spam battle leves or even more FATES than I already have to. So what did I do? I crafted. Even just the craft leves are far superior to battles for gil payout.

This whole thing started a few weeks ago as "I'm a DoW/M and I can't make no real money to pay my bills unless I take a timeout and farm it! Help me!" and turned into "You should help me because I'm not naturally earning enough gil through normal play to pay my repair bills! See it's a problem of gil creation vs termination." Clever, but if there's anyone who will make you work for it, it's SE.

I realize the purpose of gear repairs, but it's meaningless if they sparingly hand out gil to people. If they insist on NPC price nerfs to combat RMT which is doing no good whatsoever for the record and only hurts us, they should simply remove gear repairs. That alone would solve everyone's so called problem with this issue. Either remove gear repairs, or remove the NPC price limitations. One or the other. People need to be able to make gil when they want, not when SE says they can via leves. Gear repairs for a price doesn't work in a world that was designed for battling RMT in mind.

Personally, I'll make two new characters and level them to 50 as well. That will give me another 500k Gil just from leveling plus another 12 leve's per day which is 36-60k extra income. Just because the rush of launch players finishes doesn't mean no one will level up anymore. All I hear is just people wanting a way to make Gil that's "Convenient" for them. From what I've read, SE is planning to add this with 2.1 along with a whole new set of Gil sinks so it will all remain balanced out anyways.

Working to cover your bills isn't the problem at hand. Character Maintenance costs and market board taxes are taking away more gil than the game generates. FATEs don't really generate a lot per FATE, and Leves might give gil but not really a lot to cover repair costs on gear during production for some players unless you do the crafting Leves and turn in HQ results. Right now repair costs are my major gil-sink and I could offset that by repairing it myself, but then I'd have to level like 4 crafts to repair the AF I'm using.

My opinion is that gil has too high a value in this game. There's a reason why you never get inundated with gil-seller spam in WoW and you're slammed daily on this game. Gold in WoW isn't a highly weighted currency because it generates fast and isn't the primary source of gear and day-to-day necessities. Gil still defines all market prices, repairs, relics, etc. I stopped using the market board a long time ago and started hoarding what little gil I can (~210k and I'm almost poor by the game's standards) when I tried to buy a level 20 shield that was priced for 200k. One food for tanking: 8k. A Ring: 20k. Prices aren't in sync with the actual amounts people can afford at the proper level, and I'm thinking gil-buying became a go-to for a lot of people because of that causing the rampant inflation and large influx of gil. The perpetual prices they shout went from $3 per 1M to over $30, and I find it hard to believe that no one bought a lot of gil at that price before they banned all those accounts and that massive amount of gil.

lol really you run badboy thats why you don't get tells from gold farmers but they are there yes and they sell gold because people buy it and yes people craft in wow and make gold just like people craft in ffxiv so please lets not go there and act like uh it dont happen on other mmo's bullcrap!

and gear on wow is expensive i play on one of the highest populated servers to date and i can tell you yes they exist and yes the ah market is high and people do make money from crafting the nice thing you can repair your own gear in this game if you just do the damn tradeskills.....

by the way the gear sets look like crap in wow since mop and repairs are cheap its the mats that are expensive and you have to do raids to get many of the higher level mats and patterns...

The answer to this question, and the real elephant in the room, is that the game's biggest gil sink to date (i.e. housing) is getting introduced with patch 2.1, and VERY few have anywhere near the gil that's going to be required. That's why has those of use who have no real problems generating PERSONAL gil are alarmed: while we have enough to buy these gil sinks, it's going to dramatically hurt the economy and slow down the market boards when those gil sinks come online if something isn't fixed before that happens.

It's simple, keep playing the game. I haven't made it to 50 yet but I've doubled the money I had starting from version 1.0 and I didn't use the AH. There are plently of ways to generate gil directly or other resources (GC or crafting) that are equivalent. You just aren't spoonfed like in other MMO's.

Turning in high quality items for crafting guild leves is pretty rewarding. Especially if you grab a few from different class. If you run it yourself, you don't have to worry about teleport fees, though I think the time saved porting might make up for the cost.

I disagree. It does not matter to the average player whether you have 5 million gil in your bank account, or just spent 5 million gil on a new house; the money is not in circulation in either case.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The truth is that no one on these forums know the true balance of gil in vs gil out for the entire economy. Only SE has these numbers, and although they are not letting them out, it is in their best interest to maintain a proper, low inflationary balance. Since this is the case, then it really does not matter in the grand scheme of things how new the gil that is in any individual player's account is. If you don't want to make new gil, get the gil from other players, and don't worry about it.

Not to be jerky, just wanting to make a point. So I've had 50 GSM for a while now, and spent the last 10 levels turning in mostly HQs for the XP. The highest I ever saw given for a single levequest was 1600 gil.

Now, not to put to fine a point on it, but 1600 gil BARELY covers the transportation costs associated with that HQ leve, much less the repairs after a few of those. So to make the spurious argument that "guild leves [are] pretty rewarding" is fairly disingenuous.

Considering that I can make at least 5 times that amount for crafting the exact same item and selling it on the Market Ward, one has to question your awareness about endgame when you make a claim like

If that person is also farming the mats and crafting the recipes themselves, then the costs are usually around 1k for travel and 3k for repairs at most. It's a profit of 26k per day.

Doesn't change the fact that for the same items, I can turn around and sell them at 5x that amount in the same time frame.

I stand by what I said before: it's pretty disingenuous to state that crafting leves are all that rewarding. To be "rewarding" it should generate at least similar (i.e. 3/4ths or higher) what you can get off the market ward, if not more.

Unless your selling the items to vender NPC's for more then you get from leve's, I'm not seeing the problem here.

So are you suggesting that NPC's should over value items based off playesr supply/demand? Seems rather insane to expect NPC's to compete with the player market but some how I feel just completely lost as to what your looking at.

Also, they did hint that they are increasing the ability for players to obtain Gil for the support of player housing. It's still a bit early to cry about that one.

Second, and I am surprised you don't make this connection: the dev team is increasing player gil because the gil generation is too low, because the in-game gil sinks CURRENTLY in the game are too high, much less with housing coming down the pike.

It's not "crying" to accept Yoshi's quote that he finds there simply isn't enough gil getting generated. It still boggles my mind how you don't accept that or see that, and try to call people "crying" or "lazy" who do.

My viewpoint simply stands that the issue at this point in time is not really an issue. Plenty of people are still exploiting the fact that tons of players are still leveling. The transition that will cause a problem, takes place at patch 2.1 and It's been announced that changes will happen (for better or worse). All of which is completely unpredictable to the players right now.

So, I ask, in the mean time (between now and 2.1) what is the problem with the economy? Is the economy really crashing? Are people broke from repairs? is the market dried up from mass Supply?

I stand by the idea that it's all just a concern, a wait and see what happens kind of problem.

If you can still sell it to others for so much more, that only tells me that the amount of gil generated elsewhere in the economy is too great for generating gil via leves to be efficient. Prices have to fall considerably, beyond mere supply differences; in particular, you have to see generator prices plummet. I still made 200k gil on HQ hi-pots while leveling ALC, selling them to other players. People have the gil to be willing to invest that much. It's not going to go the other way, either. Basically, there's still too much going in for what's going out to make a difference. From an overall standpoint, gil is still accumulating, and that's bad. Yoshi is adding more gil generation because people whine that nobody gifted them 10,000,000,000 gil per day for being soawsum50. He knows damn well that will wreck the economy, and will price houses at probably 5-10 mil to make it work while he readies more sinks.
