I like the chair, it's cute!! People gotta stop being offended by everything
Go outside, touch grass, maybe get a job.
I don't know if the game thinks Lalas are children or not. Sometimes they are treated like adults, with specific characters & having jobs, but the emotes and tooltips like the high chair say otherwise. I'm more confused about that aspect. Keep in mind that this is the game that changed the name of "beast tribes" because that is hurtful to npcs. Maybe they should decide what a Lalachild and a Lalaadult actually are.
I personally wouldn't mind either way. Being a cute potatoe :3
It's dyable but still don't fit at my desk /shrug. Where the Loiseaux chair?
The lore says that it's always difficult to tell the age of a Lalafell, so I think that's by design. You could be a cabbage patch kid or a grizzled war veteran, and on the surface, people might not be able to tell the difference. That's part of the fun!
Your character can be as mature or immature as you want, but no matter what you just end up looking like a cute little gremlin.
Why am I not surprised this comes from NA?
If you don't like the item just move on like a normal person. Don't make drama over every minor stuff because you can't take a joke. Or if you really want a non-childish item that's fine but go ask for it without making problems for those who do say they like the item.
Seeing as we're vertically challenged, I appreciate all the help we get.
This is a non-issue. In my five years of playing this game I have not once seen someone mistreat me, or anyone else that plays Lalafell. I saw this chair and laughed so hard I thought I was going to collapse a lung, and then suggested putting one in our FC house so I could sit at the table comfortably with everyone else. It genuinely surprises me that other people dislike this, especially for the reasons given, but then again, I also take no part in the RP side of the community.
That pretty much sums up how I feel about it.
I was joking with a friend and a couple of my FC mates that I was going to craft one (didn't realize at the time it was a purchase item) and was going to place it smack dab in the middle of our living room and was going to be sitting on it whenever I could. XD
You can either let something like this bother you or let it roll off your back and take it in stride. We're all going to feel and react differently to different situation when it comes to that, but I find getting upset over the Lala Lifter is a poor use of your time. Pick your battles better, as it were.
.... Go outside and touch grass, the lot of you.

What a horrible day, sending prayers your way!
I was disappointed that they called this item the Lalafell Lifter when it's far too big for my butt (it's not lallafell furniture like how clothing items use the designation)! It doesn't accurately represent what the item is; this is just a chair and it's not sized for us. There's nothing "Lalafellian" about it, except for maybe the pink which fits in very few builds. On the other hand, the Lalafellian Stool visually fits the size of lalas and fits with the scenery in the game. If the point of this is to put us on a higher seating level like a booster seat (which I would appreciate for photos and the like) then dyes into wood tones to match other chairs would be great. The chair's in a cute chic style that I could see certain lalas using, but the white clashes with most houses, which limits its utility to rooms of its colour palette. I think the name/description would be fine to stay if the chair's utility was increased because it would accurately describe its purpose... but I don't see how you could put this into a build where it didn't match without it looking like, well, a high chair. While I'm not invested in this being offensive, I wish it was actually useful instead of a gag!
Honestly, the chair really isn't the problem. I think it's cute ^^
It's a 'certain' part of the community who can't help but treat players badly based purely on their playable race. The chair didn't harass anyone or call them slurs, but that person in a leveling dungeon definitely did. I'd argue the vast majority of Lalafell players have experienced targeted harassment in-game solely because they played a Lalafell, and that it's a bigger problem than people realise.
FINALLY. SE added a better gaming chair.
Big mood. While the gag part is the biggest grievance, the colors really don't help whatsoever to implement into my house. My entire house is so warmly colored (You can tell a little by my screenshot) in neutral foresty wood that it super sticks out like a sore thumb. I love the lalafellin stool for that exact reason of being able to match the wood color as I see fit.
There have been plenty of responses saying things like "I like it as it is. It doesn't need changing."
You may want to go back through and read them, instead of looking at this from a heavily biased perspective, since it apparently blinded you from seeing them the first time around.
As for my "goal" - stop talking nonsense; I've already said that anybody harassing or being abusive should be reported, blocked, and preferably banned... but that doesn't suit the agenda that you're trying to pin on me, does it?
https://wordsbyallie.files.wordpress...5-conflate.jpg
You did think that.
Try again. I didn't conflate anything. I never said height was the same as age, and the fact that you've quite confidently repeatedly mistaken that point tells me all that I need to know about you and how your perspective doesn't shift despite being shown evidence contradicting your perspective.
Looks like it's you who's conflating words here, don't you think?
Oh the horror.. how could they possibly tell someone that they made a mistake? Jesus Christ. You realise that was nothing more than someone poking a little joke because of this drama, right?
Again, if you don't like it, report it and I will support you in doing so. There's an entire function there for it...
The question still remains... is this item actually being used to cause distress to players or do you just assume it will? Please, show the evidence that this chair is an issue, and that it's not just a handful of players making flawed jokes due to the drama of OP's post.
I don't see any misuse of the chair, so you're going to have to show it to me if you want to justify the name being changed. "I believe it will make some people say mean things" it's really a valid reason by itself, is it?
I am playing the joke baby race and now I'm mad how could this happen to me!?
You know in other languages it says the chair can also be used for babies of other races, it's such a shame english took that out, always so joyless.
As a member of the femroe masterrace I must insist the chair remain. More visibility is key. Do you have any idea how much it costs to clean mashed potatoes off my boots every bloody day?
It's just a chair...
Lala's getting catered to and still find a way to twist it and be miserable. It doesn't look anything like a toddler chair you psycho's and you will still be memed whether it was in the game or not, every race gets memed be it by the devs or by the playerbase.
Now give me a rock to lay on and a sun lamp to warm it up with. Bowl of eggs to snack on too and whatever else. I'd be happy to get anything race related...
..Cant believe people complain about lack of content this patch when this thread is still going.
Also, this is "Website/Companion App Feedback & Suggestion" section, so post something that are related to the website.
Repost this in Gameplay > Housing section
I really don't get why Lalafell players are so upset about this? skimming through I saw two main things people are complaining about, so:
1) It's a joke at how short and child-like the Lalafellin race is. that's it. why is this a hot topic? miqo'te got a scratching post furniture item, how is this chair any different? it's a joke furniture item.
2) I get if it's frustrating to not be able to RP with most folk because you chose the short race with child-like attributes and animations, and to that I do agree it's dumb to be left out of regular RP... However, Lalafellins are designed to be very child-like and saying they aren't is just.. wrong? so many players gatekeep 18+ RP centers from Lalafellins for good reason, everything from the slow walk of the race to the race-specific emotes are designed and animated to be very goofy and child-like. Emotes specifically designed with Lalas in mind, eg. /deride, are child-like. I really don't get why this is a hot button topic and why so many lala players are seemingly angry about this? Everything from the race to, hell, the starter race clothes of the Lalafells are designed to be child-like.
It's because Lalafell players tend to get harassed because of the above. In some cases, they're not even allowed to roleplay in their own venues (a completely reasonable thing to do) without someone trying to start a harassment campaign against them. It's believed that the infantilising effectively 'promotes' the harassment of Lalafell in-game.
Why do you think everything has to be tailor-fit to only your needs? I've seen countless other people, lalafell or not, already say it fits their aesthetic perfectly. Not every item is going to be for every person.
This goes right back to the original crux of this entire thing... if you don't like it, then just don't use it.
Can't tell if this is truly in good faith or not, but I'll explain a little.
1) The fact that it's a joke is only part of the problem. We get it, we love to joke about fates and item descriptions making fun of races lore. There's lots and lots of such things about lalafell getting eaten by whatever, the elven salt lick, etc. Everyone has it in some form or another. But that's where its mainly kept... in descriptors not constantly thrown in a person's face. The scratching post? Not even labeled as specifically a miqote only item. It's just the slightest mention in the description. "Lalafell Lifter" makes it sound as though it is something made for us as an accessibility thing. Which is great! We've been begging for more lalafellin accessibility furniture made with us in mind.
But its been put together in such a way that invites making fun of lalafell characters because of the way it looks. It's not a nice neutral housing item that I can fit in with the others and make it look normal. It looks like an actual toddler high chair, minus the tray. I thought this from a glance. A lot of people did the more they looked at it. And, just like this thread has demonstrated there's many people for a little change, those who like it as is, and those whose only purpose being here is to dunk on our feedback.
2) There's a different between child-like and youthful. It's the same age old meme about dwarves, goblins, halflings, etc. Some of us just like being small because it fits whatever we're going for. Others just want to RP that way. Or we're just going straight up gremlin mode and lalafell fits the best for those type of shenanigans. I'm not going to argue about venues and all that regardless of how dumb I think it is (Like really... it's all fiction regardless, and has been mentioned numerous times they're considered to be just as adult).
The important part is not being demeaned and treated like we're actual toddlers. We get enough harassment as is just for existing. I can't tell you how many times I've simply been standing somewhere or joining a duty and some schmuck throws an absolute fit. We're playing a video game and we're constantly getting accused of being into nasty things like a pedo or whatever. This is just one more thing for us to see on top of everything else, those who love our characters as much as you love yours.
I personally go out of my way to make my lalafell look as adult as possible with the adult options that were given to us. Facial hair, neutral/masculine clothes, etc. Clothes are literally just that: clothes. I'm not going to chide the tiny au'ra girl with the doll face for wearing cute frilly pastel dresses because they want to look youthful, who makes childish little giggles and also throws a temper tantrum stomping the ground emote when she's mad.

No, it's not. No one has ever said traditional, high fantasy dwarves look like children. Nor goblins. Nor even really the vast majority of possible halfling races. You could maybe make the argument for gnomes, but even that is a stretch.
No it doesn't and pressing the issue with others leading to what you want to hear doesn't change this, its clear you don't like it... so just don't use it. No matter how hard you try, you cannot attribute all the 'problems' you face to this 1 item, it is simply a high wooden chair so you are at some kind of eye level with the rest of us. That's it.
Anyone that would be calling it a 'kids chair' would have called you a kid regardless and you harping on about it, trying to get others to see it as a kids chair is showing these people live rent free in your head and that you can only see this chair as a kids chair yourself.
The reason people associate lalafel with being child-like isn't because they are short, it isn't because they have a high chair, it's because their mannerisms in emotes and other movements is childlike. You will never escape that because it is what lalafels are and the only reference we have to these mannerisms in the real world... is children.
If you took a person in a vacuum, have them not play lala, put them on the path through the MSQ and then ask them what they thought of lalafels by the end, it's likely they will just think of them as short people like gnomes or whatever.
Once you put that same person into an environment where players are displaying lalafels emotes and mannerisms that are built into the game they will likely think of them more childlike, then you have them running around acting like grumpy kids if they don't get 'headpats', 'sweets' or sitting on laps and the general consensus becomes "lala's are like children".
So you either move on, don't use the chair, ignore the people calling you a kid. Or you dream up that this chair is the final straw.
It's just a chair
The people who complain about a digital furniture should grow up.
Agreed.
That's an example of when a Lalafell player should be upset. When you are told you cannot participate in the same activities as your peers because your appearance or mannerisms make said peers uncomfortable is the point where those said people need to get over themselves and deal with it.
Likewise however, getting upset over something as innocuous as a random piece of furniture because you think it propagates the stereotypes that effect the aforementioned issue is an exercise in missing the point entirely.
Learn to pick your battles. I'm all for Lalafells "fighting" to be treated better even if I do think the accounts of Lalafell hatred are greatly exaggerated in scope - it does happen. However, there is a time and a place. Getting upset over an in-game item is not one of them especially when it makes you out to be a whiny, entitled player - a stereotype you are trying to fight against.
Agree to disagree. I really wish it was just a chair and that it didn't mean anything to us. I could pretend for a moment that yeah cool a high chair that everyone can use with no stigma attached, it's cute and potentially works for this particular thing-- aaaaand then you got people reporting things like this:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...3792/image.png
Still a joke. Still gonna get harassed. English servers still suck. I've played this game since 2015 and have only now thought to say anything about it while it's a fresh topic. It boils down to still wanting, at the very least, a name change. I get some of your points, I really do, but I'd rather not be associated with something that will just keep piling on.
"can easily change your race"
This is a daft answer and proves my point true, negligence and 2nd-class treatment. Oh just change if you don't like it. Also potions cost money, some have been the same race since they were born for many reasons. Most are not self-aware of their own microaggressions, whether in-game or IRL.
If you don't even know what it means, speak up instead of just being seen as invalidating. I'll even make it more clear, microaggressions are often unintentional, form of prejudice. My first words was at first-glance, they probably didn't realize what they were doing. Did I go on and harp remove this item from the game? No. I think this is something easily correctable, and I didn't come off as dismissing the dissent like many do.
The irony is that screenshot exists not because of the chair, but because of this exact thread that YOU made. It's the Streisand effect. No one would have paid any attention to the stupid chair except that you made this ridiculous thread about it, which then blew up, which caused it to become a meme and resulted in a comment like this.
But the kid jokes are because of what lalafells are presented as by not just the game but the players themselves, not that im trying to justify poor jokes. Let's say that instead of a chair with long legs you instead got a lalafell sized cute bathtub, people would 'joke' asking if you enjoy your paddling-pool. If you had a lalafell sized kitchen, they'd 'joke' if you made anything in your easy-bake.
The bath is just a bath. The kitchen is just a kitchen. The chair is just a chair.
This whole thread has probably done more to promote it being a seat for toddlers than it could ever have done naturally, which is ironic since it was a lalafell that brought that opinion to wider attention.
I get you with people saying things you don't like and over time it can grind you down... but the chair aint it.
Your grievance should be with select people, I've got friends that play lala and I don't think of them as kids but then I see randoms in cities acting like kids, and because I don't interact with these people in any sort of depth, my only impression is 'weird kiddy roleplayers' which just doesn't resonate with me.
I imagine that other players end up seeing and feeling the same way which leads to why people treat lala's like kids. However it doesn't justify targeting every lala for a free punt, but that's fuzzy because some stuff is acceptable and easy to shrug off and some isn't.
I would still love anything race related to aura as a housing item even if it was pure memes, there's plenty of things we get called too which I won't repeat here but you can't let the minority govern your experience. Just move on or report if they don't stop after you've already asked (politely).
Also. What name change does it need, it says lalafell lifter... it doesn't say lalafell high chair or lalafell booster seat.
