I use which ever is up and weave them in between gcd.
Hello, long time reader first time poster.
Thank you for making this topic and thanks to everyone posting in here. The dragoon community is so strong! I originally picked dragoon because I felt it was the cloest thing I could get to as my samurai in XI and I am having a lot of fun with it despite the bad stigma it seems to have. It always feels good to impress people with my dragoon because of all the hate it gets and it just makes me want to play it more and become better.
When I first hit 50 I had no idea and was kind of doing my own thing which was ok, but as soon as I started following this topic I feel like I've become so much better and have learned a lot.
Super excited for 2.3 and how the gear will effect DRG, I think a lot of it will replace astrum, and it looks pretty badass too!
My static is still getting their weapons, I'll take some non-SS i100 left-side in the meantime, /shrug. Hell, it's possible for i100 to outweigh i110 due to secondary stats, right? There were a couple CT1 pieces that had higher stat weights than their i90 counterparts.
It's such a long road to BiS in 2.2+ with all these sands and oils, in between gear seems more relevant.
It would be really nice if CT2 gear was upgradable to i110, too. Since I'm sure we'll be limited to 1 drop per week, and you can also get sands/oil in CT2, it really doesn't affect the rate at which you'd be able to increase your ilvl. Probably won't happen.. but it would be sweet!
So I am the homing missle and brain-jacked guy for T8, I feel the bard should at least do brain jacked? I'm doing about 340 to 360 dps on pulls while doing both jobs. Input? Got T8 to below 10% a few times.

There's not much reason for DRG to do either of those mechanics, BRD can survive very easily (I assume the survivability is why they forced you to do them) and lose virtually no DPS while doing both mechanics. If there's a survivability issue for your BRD doing those mechanics, it's an issue outside of the fact it's BRD doing them and may lie in your tower order or healers.
I recommend asking your group to switch now before you've got it on farm, when people may be more reluctant to change a successful strategy around.
Slight differences, I'll elaborate on my current starting rotation.
PS->HT-->BFB->ID-->IR->Dis-->X-pot->CT-->Jump->PB-->SSD->TT-->Sweep->VT-->LS->FT-->DFD->HT-->Potent Poisoning Potion
- You can Power Surge as you are running in right before you hit with HT
- Power Surge will finish nearly just after Chaos Thrust ends (tight timing)
- BFB will last till 2nd HT hits
- IR will last till VT ends so there's no stacking of IR and LS
@Butcherboy I wouldn't put 2 OGCD together CT->Sweep->PS->Phleb->

Want the spear/scythe.
Eh, I fell neutral about it.
holy shit does that looks awesome.
I take it that's the ramuh weapon, thunderbolt? what about the armour, in particular the chest piece? never seen that before, but want it almost as much as i want dat spear.
EDIT: never mind, all i had to do was use my brain and the site lol
I personally handle homing/brainjack as a DRG and have 99%+ uptime usually. I can hit all positionals (yes even during Brainjack without turning boss) and usually pull about 390dps with i103 w/ Liberator and dat skillspeed. This includes being TP starved for a bit towards end (avg 30-seconds). This is also with a 10 minute kill time so it would be a bit higher if the rest of group could reliably break 330 dps, but they don't besides the monk.
Yes the BRD can do the job with 100% uptime, but he can also do every other role with 100% uptime too.
It's kind of disappointing to see the stat allocation for the Thunderbolt :/
The CT2 gear looks pretty nice though, loaded with DET in almost every piece, but at the expense of ACC.
both chest and legs have det and acc.
plus, they look awesome
Man I was really looking forward to replacing some of my crafted armor pieces for my DRG with CT gear while I endlessly hope for High Allagan drops. Did the math and every single one of my over-melded pieces of gear is better than their CT counterparts. Now perhaps other people already knew this and I'm late to the party but man what a waste CT is if there were literally 3 different ways to get better gear prior to 2.3. I'll still be doing CT picking up Tomestones and Oils and or whatever else drops but it definitely made me a little sad this morning.
Not sure about overmelded gear since I'm not into that -melding the Novus seems to be gil-consuming enough as it is; however I get the feeling that a lot of the ST gear is going to be a good upgrade pre-T9. Body+Legs [x] provide more DPS weight than Soldiery and even boost Accuracy better, thus giving more space for zero accuracy stuff like Novus full Det-Crit/High Allagan spear/New Ramuh ring. Any thoughts on this?
@Butcherboy I wouldn't put 2 OGCD together CT->Sweep->PS->Phleb->[/QUOTE]
Yeah my bad just look at it meant to type phlebotomize/ps
How do we feel about doing less single target damage than BLMs now?
I'm hearing rumors that the Syrcus tower legs are actually BiS over high allagan and unweathered legs, and im also seeing that the belt is BiS until you can get the belt from t9 or so.
Also 1 more question. Are any of the unweathered soldiery pieces BiS regardless of t9 kill or not, trying to find something to upgrade with sands.
Anyone else feeling a bit miffed about farming hunts enabling people to get lots of sands/oils per week? Most of my static team are gonna be full BiS in a couple weeks yet drg is mostly high allagan so we are gonna drag behind..waiting weeks (if the HA even drops) for our BiS gear.. doesn't seem very fair to me. What do we need...like two sands and one oil for our post t9 493 acc set? Think this needs to be a bit more balanced..
Dude i always see you in here posting about drg being low dps and that one finally made me post. You need to learn how to play drg if the blm buff made them do more than you. Maybe ill link my stream next time i do coil so you can see how much dps a real drg can do. Ive seen you say before monk plus bard is better then drg plus bard, maybe you just need a good drg to show you thats not true, now im sure this is going cause you to throw a fit and cause a huge discussion but im tired of everyone downing drgs. I crush the dps on drg and ill be damned if a blm ever beats me, drg is the better melee of the 2 for ever turn as well xcept t8. Now learn to maximize and compete before you come inhere with the blm does more than drg single target, the way you should have said that is blm does more damage than YOU single target.
MNK is 8% more damage than DRG on average, and bard buff with disembowel is 7% since it doesn't affect dots. Therefore, MNK+BRD>DRG+BRD. DRGs only do more when there's 2 bards in the raid. I mean, BLMs who know what they're doing can do 430-440 on T8 pre patch, which gave them a 10% damage buff. This would lead them to around 470-48x. Forgive me for not being a real DRG but the most I can do in t8 is probably 460, and that's if I don't do any mechanics or LB.
Maybe you just play with awful MNKs and BLMs.
Also, not once have I said that DRGs are not viable or that I want any buff besides a cut in elusive jump cd. You're just uninformed about numbers or something if you think that DRGs can pull similar dps as MNKs, or DRGs are better than MNKs at t6, t7, and t9. Assuming the same mechanics, at best it'd probably be a wash.

Seriously, though, just play a different job if you have such an issue.
Got my Guardian's Body of Maiming. It looks soooo bad...but the stats are soooo good
Also, that Ramuh Ring is definitely something we need as DRG. 17Crit/9DET in exchange for 13SS and 2 STR (the High Allagan). Sure, use the HA ring when you need it (Turn 8/9) but everywhere else...
Hey guys i'll be a dragoon in a couple levels and hopefully will someday understand what this threads about. But in the mean time, later on I want to be pretty good at pvp, will that be something a dragoon is capable of?
