Too many just take it all too personally, the game it's self is actually cheaper than most unless you buy CE, hell I wonder how many of these people have wasted that much money on things infinitely more pointless than a game they can't always log-in to easily for a few hours a day.

Square haven't handled everything perfectly and it's quite clear they underestimated things severely, though at the same time it's logical to assume that the remake of a failed MMO is not about to go breaking records for number of players logging in (people can argue all they want, it's simple business logic, you don't need to know jack to understand that much), they do need to fix things quickly and unless this goes on for like a month without progress, we have no reason to assume they aren't doing everything they can, the game hasn't even been out a week.

I would have thought, with how many people in this game that are actually adults, there would be significantly more understanding throughout the community and less pointless rage.

Don't be obtuse. Weeks ago the game had not been released, and many had not paid money for a service. You can't just ignore these facts, Berani and Xiraiya, among others. If you do it renders your arguments moot. Factor these very significant events (launch and the purchasing of a product) into your rebuttals.

I haven't forgotten, but in which context are you referring to the events? As in number of players during them? Well according to them, the Beta's weren't a good enough indication for how many players they could expect to be playing. The only real complaints I have over all are with the useless help staff, but that's a different story.

I think for people, the most frustrating part isn't the login issue, that came afterwards. The most frustrating part is the fact that the people who play gets booted while from doing instances and quests, yet the afkers stay in the game and doesn't get booted, causing players that wants to play become unable to login.
It's true that most new games would have server congestion issues, but then again, FFXIV ARR is hardly new...it's a remake. However bad FFXIV did, Yoshida P and his SE team should have seen some similar numbers coming a long long way.

Whats to be fed up for? Everything is working perfectly. Didnt you guys pay $39.99 for the 1 song soundtrack when you start the game? As far as I see it, everything is working perfect for me. Just wait until you have to pay $12.99 a month. Oh boy some kick ass soundtrack there.

While I understand launches are often rough I simply would like to get on the game and play for more than an hour. It's the first off day I've had since the launch to really actually play so I've sat with my laptop all day and out of that time I played for about an hour the rest of the time is error this and that but hey nothings perfect. I'm not mad cuz I got to play and it'll be fixed soon enough just gotta wait it out. This happens far too often for people to rage out all the time.

i played many MMOs from the first day of game and they all had the same problem, some got fixed by adding an afk timer (ex: if a player is afk for 2h he will auto log off) simple things can fix major problems really - at least the log in process in this case -, every time i visit a place like Horizon i can see at least 12 people afk and im only talking about one out of many places around the server with afk people, however i do agree with this post that people tend to take things to far and i can assure you that this will be fixed.

dont forget the cost of the actual game, not just the subscription fee. also 60 bucks is a once time payment, while the 14 bucks is recurring. 14x12 =168, thats 168 bucks a year, where that "bad console game" is still 60 bucks.

the end result is this, they are slacking in providing the service that they sold. no ifs about it. all of the apologies in the world are not getting anyone in any faster. and the slow speed of their reaction (over a week to get servers in) is absurd. technology these days allows for rapid deployment of servers, wether they are virtual servers to help with the server load, or rentals. the business world accomodates many types of technologies and im sure they could have "rented" the servers to accomodate the launch day blues. the ball was dropped and dropped hard by SE.

and i do love the game, the game is awesome, great job devs and Yoshi P in making it, their tech personnel in charge of the data centers definately need to go back to school learn what they obiously dont know.

While I agree that people need to relax a little bit I can certainly understand why they are upset. I for one have been lucky as I have been on graveyard shifts and can play in the middle of the night and I don't have any problems getting online. That being said when I try to log on pretty much anytime after 9am PST all the way till about 10:00pm PST I can't....

I do have friends that play during the day time and for the most part they are stuck there spamming the 0 key trying to get in over and over for usually anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour before they get on.

I for one have a better idea then most as to what goes into setting up and maintaining a server on this magnitude as my field and profession has me in a data center every day at work. That being said I don't really believe that they couldn't have seen this coming. While it is possible that they could have received a lot more people then expected after launch due to people just picking the game up after release, the number of people that pre-ordered was probably evident in the weeks leading up to the pre-launch access event. I signed up for and got into the last beta phase only to be met with full server messages the entire time and I was never able to actually get into the game. I am not the type of person that is content to just sit there for an hour spamming the login screen trying over and over and over and over until finally the game gives in and lets you through, if I can't get in within the first few minutes I just move onto another game. While I am not sitting here losing my mind and screaming bloody murder it is a little aggravating when I can not access a game that I did have to buy albeit I am getting the first 30 days on the house.

I am a strong supporter of an AFK checker, and for the life of me can't figure out why it hasn't been implemented yet but I can only hope it is coming. While I don't think it will fix the problem with a snap of the fingers it is pretty hard to argue that it won't help. I just logged off after playing for a few hours and it did not matter where I went , there are a TON of people just afk in the sanctuaries that have not moved for the entire time I was on. I would run past and sure enough the same people are just chillin......I for one don't understand it. If I have to go to the bathroom ok I won't log out...if I am going to bed, why the hell would I stay logged in ?

I was around for the WoW launch and the SWTOR launch and lets be fair...they didn't fair any better, and in some cases faired a lot worse, WoW was a mess when it launched. SWTOR had a similar overcrowsing issue but when the caved in and added a bunch of new servers they faced a new problem...the game didn't do as well as they had hoped and when people left they were left with a bunch of low pop servers with no one using them which just ends up in more people complaining because their server is dead.

My advise to everyone who is really upset is to give it some time....aside from the people who are missing their free 30 days for whatever reason or another , you have 30 days to play for free to see if it gets any better. If it does not get any better well then that sucks and at that point I would probably be seeking a refund myself , but I would not be surprised to see at least some of the issues be alleviated somewhat and have the play experience be improved when logins decrease a bit.

b)this is the only way for them to ensure that they wont have to deal with log in problems - for pc its not a problem to run constantly for 2 weeks - untill something will be done about it they will continiue doin so cause htey are not idiots - douchebags maybe but they think , they read the same forums and see this is only way to ensure they game play so they think - f%^$ everybody my time is more precious to me then anonymus joe - this is why we have this problem ><

and about people saying wait patiently - people have 5.4 launch in WoW in less then 2 weeks - many are trying to get to play some time now cause for next month/2 months they will spend clearing new raid there -_-

I know its totally subjective and all, but to be honest if the game didn't suck so hard it might have retained a playerbase, SW:tor had nothing on Galaxies, when the bar is set so high in a previous franchise they really need to step up to the mark if they dare try even an unrelated game.

not being able to play since launch.. crappy. even more crappy is how my main character got moved from US realm (leviathan) to jp realm atomos AT NO REQUEST OF MINE after beta concluded. now, i can only see jp realms half the time and since the US tards are invading it now because of errors on US servers, JP servers are suffering now.

Now see I do not mind waiting for this kinda thing however, what about my game time... you know the game time i payed for. They can take as long as they want if they credit us with the time it took for them to fix this error. I have only played the game twice since the early release came out and its forever error 17.

Dear SE,

What did you fix during the long outage? It appears that you didn't fix anything, since I cannot log in to my character's server again. Also, where is the update log for the extended downtime? Outages are fine, if things get fixed, but from my end, it appears that nothing was upgraded, which is very disappointing. I understand that problems come up, but they should not take hours and hours of downtime to fix. Thanks - I feel better now that I have complained. This still sucks though...

because they dont - they are a friking huge company and it takes them what week to set up new servers ? if u worked in this pace in a normal company u would got fired after a week - its not liek they are doin eveyrthing from a scratch - they have ready modules etc ready for implementation - unless they are not planing to put out any new servers only will "extend" existing ones which will end up just horribly ><

You act as if these people are eating donuts and watching TV. I think you forget that SE is no stranger to firing their employees. They would fix it quickly if it was so easy.

I'm sure they are trying to find a solution so they can keep their jobs.

I still like like my solution of pulling down all the servers until they get things fixed up. Then we don't have to waste our time trying to log in (when you have to cross your fingers, sacrifice a stuffed sheep, and get out your lucky troll doll to even have a chance to get in), they wouldn't have to deal with all the complaints they are getting about this that or the other thing, because no one should be able to complain about anything other than that the servers are offline.

HOWEVER, sadly, I did notice the flaw in my solution. We'd not have the petitions for the afk kicker, we'd not have the one for the queue requests, as well as some small things that I've overlooked. This is almost like an extended closed beta test. :/

I won't say I'm confident about them fixing things to MY liking by Wed, namely removing character creation restrictions (specifically on the realm I want). But, eventually it hopefully will get sorted out, sooner rather than later. I do think that they may have to go back to Stats 101, Econ 101 and Customer Service 101, as I don't know how well they will be coming out of this fiasco. However, since I haven't bothered to play FF (and I don't play any other SE titles, I think!) since X-2 (for lack of the system for it), other than this, I can't say that I'm all that concerned where they end up!

I still see the same complaint over and over again; and I still see the same defense over and over again. This thread has been running steadily with a near perfect split. Half the posters want square to fix the servers and are pissed the problems happened in the first place. The other half want square to fix the server problems and are all too happy to wait patiently for them to be fixed. You both keep making the same argument from a different point of view. Obviously if you are posting about the issue here, it is because you can't log in and play the game. The "white knight fan boyz" are equally as pissed as the "irrational selfish complainers" but they are willing to wait longer. I agree with both sides because both make the same valid point. What I haven't seen is a response from an actual dev on here giving a timeframe (a legit timeframe) for implementation of these fixes. To be honest, if I did I'd be pissed they were posting here and not fixing the issue. Either way nothing is going to satisfy me until the problem is resolved. Square knows this which is why they are working diligently on the problem to fix it instead of posting guestimate fix times on here. Either way you look at it, Square is a big company and knows what they are doing. They know that there is a problem and they know you paid for this service. They will fix it in time so you don't stop paying them monies. On the other hand, Square is a big company and knows what they are doing. I could keep going around and around in circles but it doesn't matter because I'm not at Square headquarters and I can't build their servers for them.

The very fact that we have to wait till Wednesday is unacceptable, they should have been able to put in some sort of stop gap solution or take servers down all together.

Trying your best isnt enough. Maybe if you are a SE fanboy or dont know how real life works you could forgive SE. But in real life, even if you did your best and still failed you will get yourself fired. I can tell you from personal experience, if you own a movie theater, you can't sell more tickets than you have seats. Period. They knew exactly how many people each server can hold. They knew exactly how many servers they have, and they kept selling digital copies significantly beyond that number.

This wasn't the result of what the producer said (a pleasant surprise). They saw this happening, and they let it continue because people were giving them money.

If you are one of the people complaining about the current state of the game and you need to stop and think about aone simple fact... they posted everything we need to know. There is a sticky from yoshi P on how they are fixing the servers when the new hardware should be in place and when we can expect to see restrictions lifted, also a post about how they are giving us free time to make up for this week of down time for "SOME" people. So either stop being a baby and wait till the supposed fix is in place.. or get a refund.

For example. You buy a video card doesnt work you call the manufacture up the warranty requires RMA so you have to ship it out and get it fixed and they ship it back. If you dont want wait to have it fixed you can get a refund from the store you bought it at. This is the same thing here. Tomany people purchased digital copies of the game and FAR more legacy people returned then expected. So data centers could not hold the load.... its not a 20min fix to upgrade the servers. Its a company they have to get approvals for the expense of purchasing new hardware, then they have to purchase and have the new hardware shipped, then installed, then loaded with the game data, then internally tested for stability. This isnt something thats gonna be done in just a few days.... Grow up and relax till its fixed or get a refund your choice.

I am okay with waiting until Wednesday this week as I will not start getting billed until Saturday. It's not the first time MMORPGs have had difficulties with servers in the first couple of weeks. This is pretty mild in comparison to some. Do you remember WoW/Anarchy Online/ Diablo 3/ Aion? Some of those games NO one could play for days.

I allowed to say I hated FFXIV 1.0 - but the second I say I don't mind waiting for them to fix the servers for FFXIV:ARR, I'm labeled a crazy SE fanatic. I would rather have server issues for a bit than a bad game.

I don't care about the server caps I would like to just make it past the log in need to kick afkers

At first I really didn't care cause I play on a legacy server so it didn't really affect me (yeah, selfish), but now that the japanese servers are broken it really its grating.

I work for a company headquartered in Japan. Whenever there is an issue, the response is always the same. "We are very sorry for the trouble it has caused; we are doing everything we can to rectify the issue." or "We are looking into the issue and will take your suggestions under advisement." These all translate into, "Yeah, we know about the problem. STFU and let us figure out how to solve it. We would've come to the same conclusions as you eventually anyway, so why can't you wait?"
I hate to say it, but their answers are patronizing and condescending. Experience has shown that the over-politeness is really a cover for their true feelings. I'm sure they are sitting over their working as hard as they can thinking how stupid we are for disrespecting their perfect vision. The game is exactly the way they intended it to be and we peons should be happy they even made a game that they allowed us to purchase. We need to wait for them; and if the peons complain, then we will save face and apologize. It is the same rhetoric over and over again. "Please understand, this is Square-Enix."
