Dunno about all the Twitter stuff, but they put it out there making it worse. As far as the work they did, they're awful at voice acting. That's one of the main annoyances of Wuk...that damn annoying voice...and in nearly every scene. It's terrible.

Most of the harassment Sena is getting is far more likely to do with the fact that they go out of their way to post incendiary things on social media than it is to do with their voice acting. The 'trolls' just use the voice acting as a point of attack because it's clearly a sore point for Sena. I guarantee that if Sena just stopped openly crying about being harassed and stopped posting incendiary things most of the harassment would go away. But I doubt they would ever do that because they seem to like the attention.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with HighlanderClone. While we likely have very different ideas about what is wrong with FFXIV, the voice acting is a very small part of the issue. Show all the screaming Germans you want, it's still bad writing.

I didn't like Wuk's voice personally. It wasn't awful per say, but it was not good. I was able to tolerate it, just like I did the character. A lot of things Wuk said just sounded bland or hollow. Moments when it seems there should've been a lot of emotion into the dialogue either didn't have the expected impact, like Wuk screaming Papa for the 3rd time at Gulool Ja Ja's death which to me sounded like she was doing a soft yell and trying not to wake a baby up in the other room, or was, as some people put it, screamed in lower case, like the good ol "Sphene, listen to me!" during the final trial which lacked any sort of impact.
At the same time though, I don't want to just join the dogpile and go "Wuk's VA was 110% complete dogwater" because to me personally it felt the same way for some of the other voices as well in Dawntrail. Somethings just overall sounded...off. It's like the devs didn't bother doing much, or any, quality control with most of the lines. Like they just went "Good enough" and just rolled with what was given and didn't bother to give the VA's direction for some of these moments.
... You know people have already pointed out why she sounds bad, right? Not just here but also on other post/threads.
> it's fine within the limits of the character as it was written (which was cringy)
That doesn't help her case at all.
Damn, you want us to post all of her lines? :p
(half)joke aside, just listen whenever Wuk tried to yell or have emotional dialogue. They fall really flat and forced.
How can I say this? Because my voice is very flat and monotone as well, and I'm shit at acting. And unfortunately listening to Wuk Lamat feels exactly like listening to me talking and trying to act.
(Though in my defense, I can definitely yell better than her)
Seriously, you need to play other games where the VAs are killing it and compare them to DT. Take BG3 for example, it has top notch voice acting.
There is no reason to doubt her.
People did send death threads and doxxed people for really petty and dumb stuff on the internet.
Heck people did that just because they were unhappy with the Skin Quality of a specific skin in league of legends, that champion had a very...passionate fanbase and some very bad actors.
And as additional example poor Jocat got harrased and targeted because of small fun video. He luckily recovered but peopel can be really vile.
There are people on the internet that do that for completly unimportant stuff like a botched VA Job or being hypocritical on the internet.
And yes Wildheaven i think its better to risk it and show empathy for someone who could aswell fake it then risk the chance to deny it someone who suffered under it.
There have been various posters that have pointed that her "hispanic" sound it's fake. Me included.
My source being the fact that I am south american, I live here, and I often hear south american people speaking english. I also hear Spanish people speaking english.
The inflections she uses are nothing like the ones that are common for us. Not to mention, we're perfectly capable of pronouncing the sound of "ph" syllables because the letter f which has the closest sound, exists in our alphabet.
Not to say she's the only one guilty of this, because at times Koana's VA seems to be channeling Antonio Banderas, but the difference between, say, Galool JaJa's VA accent which seems closer to authentic, and her, it's very noticeable.
The fact that that was her "authentic" accent, and that the director said "yeah, that sounds legit to me", makes it mind boggling on both sides.
I mean...for that metaphor she would need to claim it constantly and would need to be proven wrong, which isnt really doable.
And i know enough similar cases of harassment that it has a good chance to be true. Something brought her into the spotlight and some attack happy people desent on the poor person. :/
Besides that the story with the Wolf that cried wold ends with the tragedy that nobody came when the wolves appear. Which would support my original approach that its better to show kindness than regret it at the end.
And we saw enough "Wolves" in this very Thread so no i have no doubt that she gets harrased.
Nothing productive comes from Twitter, it seems like most people are just there for attention seeking, or to be a Drama Queen. If you're really recieving death threats why don't you do something like maybe... Report it to the police? Back it up with evidence? Stop giving your harassers the spotlight to let them know they got to you. Did nobody learn how to deal with this kind of crap with bullies in school? The true motivation behind this is probably just to farm out attention for pity and clout points, and to put themselves out there for future employers to notice.
And yes, the voice acting in this expansion sucked. Thats not even up for debate. Is anyone going to tell me the flat delivery of lines, awful fake accents, and embarassing dialogue is deserving of praise? It's not. Go replay the cutscenes in Shaaloni and tell me the American accents there were great. Go tell me that Cahciua (Or however tf you spell her name) didn't have some of the weakest voice acting in this entire expansion. Whose fault is it? I don't care. I'm the end consumer, and its not my job to dissect the inner workings of CBU 3 or the Localization teams. Vote with your wallet if it really matters to you that much.
There's a lot of posts in these pages of actual valid critique of Sena's performance, and I appreciate those. For the few people who insist on misgendering her, though, it really kills all credibility of your criticism. I can dislike her VA work and also think her twitter posts are super cringe and don't make her look like a pleasant person to be around without misgendering her. It's just going to get yet another thread locked. It's rude. Don't do it.
The fact that when she post and show exemple of the ''bullying'' she just show a normal criticism that while being harsh, it don't insult her or her character personally. Like for someone who claim they get targeted daily by tons of bully, she don't even show a post that just an clear attack on her.

The VA is as problematic as a person than as the character.
Ofcourse you did...

Honestly if this is real just go to the relevant authorities and take a step back from the internet. This is not difficult regardless of your gender, viewpoints and etc...
In regards to the VA...The person behind the job what their gender is, their viewpoints are or what they believe in most people couldn't care less including myself. There are plenty of VA's who do excellent work bringing to life characters that are their opposite gender.
However Wuk Lamat had almost no range and if you start comparing it to the VA of different languages it becomes so painfully obvious it's not even remotely funny. It was not good work. It's really that simple.
If you want to share your opinions, viewpoints and your personal beliefs that is completely fine but always remember this is the internet.
Nobody is obligated to agree with you.
Lastly just let your work speak for yourself.
People on the social media have a tendency to claim receiving death threats in order to score victim points after they meet with unexpected pushback caused by none other than their incendiary posts spitting fire and venom towards innocent people. Sena exhibits the same pattern. Small wonder people take her claims with a grain of salt, and I don’t think it’s related to her identity, but her behavior.
So is she getting interwebs death threats, or real death threats, or imaginary death threats?
She's a terrible person, and Wuk Lamat is a terrible character. I'll continue to criticize both.
There is no problem with criticing someone elses work or pointing out hypocrisy. All a matter of tone and choice of words.
Most of the social rules in FF14 work around being polite and friendly, so that should be no problem to use nice and constructive language :)
Maybe yes, or maybe this.

Okay but its a Union Strike for better condition and against AI stuff.
Even if one dislikes her as person and her work.
That is still a good cause to stand on the side of Voice Actors :o
What has that to do with the online harassment?
I confess it could be read that way but i think its just meant as what the text says "We only win if we stand together and they aint". It certainly could lead that over eager supporters do act bad.
This one also suggest that she aint for such things.

No no no, turn off the mental gymnastics. We clearly see these words, no double meanings behind it.
And not to mention the harassment and pointfinger towards the voice actor of Bridget.
Ofc she aint for such thing, she avoids any responsibility like an ordinary school bully.
Did she harrase the voice actress of Bridget?
I know she would have liked a Trans-Woman playing a Trans Character, i found the tweet. :O
(please dont start debate if she is trans, the long time producer did already directly said she is)
https://i.gyazo.com/4a28487f42a5fc00...9e8c609748.png
Do you mean that one?
Because she didnt even mentioned the voice actress of her or harrassed anyone in that one.
For clarity i used did a quick google search to find the tweet. So Sena might posted a worse thing later hence my ask.
Daisuke Ishiwatari ,the creator of Guilty Gear, about that
"We’ve received many inquiries about Bridget’s gender. After the events of Bridget’s story in Arcade Mode, she self-identifies as a woman.
So, as to whether “he” or “she” would be the correct pronoun for Bridget, the answer would be “she.”
As mentioned in her character profile, Bridget was born as the younger twin son and then raised as a girl by her parents to protect her from a village superstition.
Despite their intentions to protect Bridget, it pained her parents to do so as they felt they were forcing her to live a certain way.
Bridget, realizing this, attempted to bring wealth to the village while behaving like a man, thus overturning the village superstition, as a way to free her parents from their guilt.
As a result, the superstition faded, and nothing remained to restrict how both Bridget and her parents lived.
After this, Bridget tries living as a man, but it doesn’t feel right.
This is where the Arcade Mode story begins. After her exchanges with Goldlewis and Ky, Bridget faces parts of herself she has tried to ignore, and makes a big decision for herself.
I hope that all of you will watch over her path after her courageous choice to stay true to her own feelings."
So you disregard the one who creates the game, who also acts as designer for character, story and music.
Because you dislike her being Trans. :)
Or on what basis do you think you reasonable can claim your opinion over the very direct confirmation made be the person who made the character?
