Play other games :)

With all due respect, I don't believe we've ever interacted prior to this exchange so I have my doubts that you can reduce my feedback over the years to 'complaining solely about venue goers'. I've made a few posts referring to them from time to time as an increasing demographic that is actively being catered to at the expense of other demographics within the game. It's not the controversial take that you seem to be desperately trying to portray it as and it certainly isn't the only aspect of the game or community that I've brought up.

I've tried to clarify my point and you've doubled down, so I see no further reason for either of us to interact again. The ignore function exists for a reason and perhaps it is best we both make use of it. Especially when you're referring to posting on the forums with the intention of leaving feedback as 'stalking the forums'.

I don't need to have a personal stake in something to make light of the intellectual laziness inherent in grabbing a group that generally minds its own business and probably doesn't post on these forums and pinning the blame on them. XVII may be an MMO. If so, the trend is 2 single player FFs, then one multiplayer FF.

I doubt they or anyone foreseen the WoW rush which pushed XIV on the juggernaut WoW's throne temporarily.

My guess, they were pre-producing another online title....maybe XVII. WoW happen, they pushed it back & began full steam ahead on XVI. Not to say XVI was not going to be a priority anyway.....

Really not much more they can do with XIV, and we are seeing it in real time.

XI was once the most profitable FF game of all-time....and they moved on from it.....

.....XIV failed, and they still went full steam ahead on XIV after the fact while dumping the most profitable FF title. SoA was released due to XIV's failure imo.

Go play other games, I think that means XVI.

Just wait for the PC port like I will. I will wait 8 months or so for the Steam Version. Then 6 more for the biggest bugs to be out and then 8 more for a huge discount :)
Thankfully other game studios make great games for PC. Just like back in 06 when times between FF mainline releases became too huge, i like to thank SE for making me try out a large variety of different games from different developers :)

There is one major exception, of course, and that's with a lack of Bozja-esque content.

All other things they could improve, but there's no way I can conceive of where they can do that this expansion, so in that sense, everyone who digs that seems kind of SoL until at least like 7.2-7.3. I've made some few remarks that maybe they could get rid of Variants and instead make the locations some sort of mini-exploratory zone with FATEs while keeping Criterion its own thing (albeit adjusted to be more like it was intended to be) but I don't know how viable that is. Alternatively, they can add mild battle content to the Island Sanctuaries, where you have to fight and subdue minibosses you find on there for rewards. And FYI that entire experience with crafting tinctures and food doesn't stop until you clear the tier and get everything you want from it.

I think they're legitimately afraid that if we don't hit above Endwalker release numbers (which we won't), people will start to see that it's not actually a popular game and move on. That and there's almost nothing exciting about ending the MSQ arc the way it did.

I'm comfortable with XIV not being popular, always have been. I just want it to stop sucking.

I have no clue what this imaginary fan base is that kickwars mentioned is. People are just laid back when playing this game because it is (or at least was) pretty easy and simple to just log in and do stuff. No one is under any disillusionment that the way endwalker ended made sense, but I also don't take RPG stories all that seriously to begin with. I mean we basically went through an entire expansion that alluded to time travel being very bad, then had this over the top insane warp to the past that would have assured the world would no longer be the same that we came from. But predestination is apparently a thing now so I guess the whole concept of free will is now being put to question?

Also going to point out that FFXIV has forever had a pattern of feast and famine with the content. The beginning of the expansion is where most of the content ends up dropping, and then they drip feed bits and pieces going forward to hopefully keep the entire thing from withering into the grave. When they moved to longer patch cycles it made the famine portion of the cycle more pronounced, so people are burning out faster from getting stuck on the perpetual grind content. Sticking a small piece of lore at the end of a weeks long artificially bloated grind does not a game make. Arcades mostly had difficulty spikes to make people pay more money to get through the content. In this game we just have time gated weekly allowances that require players to cap something every week like a part-time job. Well, that and savage which is really an artificially elongated amalgamation of difficulty road bumps and crafting / gathering grinding to the floor.

I mean, who can blame you? The Golden Sun games were fantastic. So fantastic, in fact, that I'm concerned someone will try to remake them at some point. I say concerned because I do not believe for one second the gaming industry as it is now could be trusted to simply upgrade them to modern times with better graphics and voice acting. They would try to change those games, and that would be a real tragedy.

I picked up Stranger of Paradise today despite my better judgement on PS5. Oddly enough, I don't think the game is going to be a meme fest though. I get the feeling the devs were playing it fairly straight, and the marketing made it more of a edgelord fest than it actually is. (ok, it's edgy, no mistake, but not THAT edgy)

I played old Sims game (Not Sims 4 because it sucks) like Sims 3 and Sims 1 :)

Alot of nostalgia and funny stuff.

I got my husband the Advance Wars remaster, he burned through both games really fast but he was really excited for it. I think he took a break before tackling the extra missions in the second game though lol. But hey, GS is a great game too!

It's goofy as hell in the story department due to Jack alone, but it does start to get a lot more serious the closer you get to the end. Insanely fun game though, especially with 2 other friends. Nothing quite like the entire group getting destroyed by a boss at the same time, especially when you all start laughing about how you just got wrecked.

Never played any Breath of Fire games as a kid. Now that i have played one (the third), i can say that minigames existing is fine but having them as a requirement to progress is a chore and a bore.
Well, at least you got to punch god to death. Again, apparently.

I used to jump back into WoW when things got slow here, but Blizzard killed my target closest enemy macro, and I'm not returning until it's fixed.

I just finished Evil Within 2 and learned all abilities and I'm just a couple away from maxing out all my weapons.

I'm thinking...Far Cry 5 next? I do dig being stealthy and only using a knife or a hunting bow.

Def check out FFXI if you're an FF fan and haven't yet. Who knows, you might really enjoy the adventure.

They also have a free trial, though it's not as robust as XIV's, but it gives enough of a taste of what Vana'diel is like. It's definitely not for everyone, but it's fun to see what was essentially Proto XIV 1.0 in action... or just FF2-2 since the stat system is just FF2's system.

There's a reason I no longer played MMORPGs create during the late 1990s into the early 2000s: World of Warcraft.

If you enjoyed games from that era, you'll probably enjoy it, if only for the sake of nostalgia. Then again, I understand both EverQuest and EverQuest II are still up-and-running as well. Both are free to play, and the portal access is way better than PlayOnline, which I found extremely clunky on PC.

It's clunky because it's a PS2 game, but it's not the same game as it was when it released. Just as WoW now isn't the same as Classic.

Have you played it recently, or are you making the assumption that it plays like an old MMO?

If you truly enjoy Final Fantasy, I wouldn't look past it. Because it feels like a mainline that's open world, not an 'Old MMO'.

I have ps+ for ps5, so I'm going to try out Just Cause 4 reloaded tonight, see if it's any fun.

I don't know why when I played it should matter, as FFXI is an old-style MMO with a clunky interface on PC, and played pretty much like one. But ...

My last login appears to have been 5 years ago. My first login was about 8 years ago.

Do I enjoy Final Fantasy? Well, I'm certainly of an age to have played the first game when it released in the United States, but, quite frankly, aside from purchasing the pixel remake for FFI through FFVI when it came out, and FFX a few years before that, I haven't played a single Final Fantasy game all the way through. Pretty much the same as "I never played Warcraft or Diablo II" but still enjoyed playing through World of Warcraft and Diablo III for a number of years.

I'd hardly characterize any MMO produced before 2004 'mainline'. That's just me though. You can have all the fun you want in FFXI, just don't expect me to be enthusiastic about the game.

They've cut down some of the grind, and the xp boost has been nice :) You can get some decent trusts, unlock Escha, and have your levels up to cap in about 30 minutes. I think at max level, I have max Merits out of there in about 20, depending how hard I chain. You can also pop NMs now as well, assuming you have the item to do it, from the Survival Guides or whatever. A lot of their QoL over the years has been real nice. I play every so often when I get the itch. I just don't enjoy the limited inv space lol.

Not sure what kinda response you want. It's not out yet? I leveled all classes in Beta. I'm very hype.
June 2nd - Basically my whole FC / Friend list will be on that for a bit.

Remember, you can play and root for more than 1 franchise. :o

I do technically prefer FF, but that's just because it has a wider variety of stories. So easier to connect with. lol
