There's a pretty good YouTube video showing all of them, and AST is the first. Definitely watch it. The LB 3 itself: the AST floats up and the cards all swirl around. The sky fills with stars (like in CO) and constellations appear all over. Then everyone sparkles and gets their heal/raise. Really beautiful.
Like so many others in this thread, I deliberately avoid cleansing Pacification off of WARs who use a "Berserk wearing off" macro
ETA: Also, if that macro in question is a countdown macro (i.e. "Pacification in 3 / 2 / 1"), then that WAR had better be popping his cooldowns like clockwork and/or loaded up with VIT, cause I am not even going to drop Cleric Stance until I've finished casting all my DoTs. Not going to (deliberately) not heal him, just make him sweat a little /fakeinnocentsmile
When I heal, 9/10 i'm watching YouTube because after playing whack-o-mole with HP bars for over 11 years...You can heal in your sleep.
Also when a tank decides to be a dick and act like im not a person and just rushes into things while I only have like 100 mana left...yeah. Someone is going to die. A lot.
Sometimes I like to knock a mob back just to watch them congo line back to said mob lol dance puppets dance.
I hate rolled on an item in void Ark so my co-healer (who was little to no help during the whole dungeon) wouldn't get it.
Even though I already had a better item equipped.
As WHM, if a dps was doing good and then derped, I would say "please don't die" as the cure was being cast.
As AST, if a dps was doing good but then derped, I say "no! Not the enhanced card I gave you!" and hope I have a benefic 2 proc, just for a more immediate peace of mind. No pun intended.
-At one point, I never used Celestial opposition (even though I've been AST-ing more than WHM-ing as of recent) in the assumption that it was just a stun.
I didn't read the whole description, ages ago when I first got it.
-I remember going into Void Ark on WHM, with an AST co-healer, seeing them use Celestial Opp for seemingly no reason/at random and I remember thinking to myself, "lawl must have been a miss-click?", as I never see ASTs use it
-Some weeks-ish later, I was reading posts in one of the posts in here and realized.... it added +5 seconds to everything (buffs, HoTs, etc).... and remembering that AST from VA... and realizing I've been the derp for ignoring CO's existence.
Now I always use it.... and wonder if people think I'm being derpy/don't know everything that it does :(
-I still google a chunk of skill names, every time I mention them in posts, because I remember the icons more than the actual skill names >_>
-Several times I'll roll into Bismark, etc in trial roul, and forget I still have malefic I in my main attack spot (instead of Malefic II, which I have off to the side for when it's sync'd out). Then cry because Malefic II is so highly visible when I suddenly do switch it, mid-way, that it looks like I wasn't helping DPS the chiton/etc...
Once again, I'm amazed how evil the seemingly most helpful players in the game are xD
My most recent confession:
After raging for months about how much I despise lazy healers who only heal and refuse to dps (especially SCHs, who can let the fairy do 95% of the work!) on the forums, I decided to conduct an experiment.
I once said "I don't even understand HOW they can do that. I'd be super bored just standing there for several seconds or minutes without doing anything!" so I wanted to test if I could actually keep myself from touching CS and my attack skills.
Since I was leveling SCH at the time, I went into low lvl roulette, put out Eos (I normally use Selene), set her on doing all her skills by herself, put myself on auto-follow and.....realized I could go watch a movie, get all the exp, finish the dungeon without ever having touched any button, and even getting all the commendations too xD
Naturally, I proceeded to do the whole thing 3 more times until I got my level up and had finished watching my movie.
I have since stopped, because what's the point of playing a game if you aren't actually playing? But tbh, I now slightly do understand why some healers rather go for the lazy healer route..
To the tank in Sohm Al that I was with yesterday:
Sorry for letting you die to the same huge pull near the start twice. I am not even sure what happened to me there to have that happen TWICE IN A ROW (and then have you give up on me afterwards, can't say I blame you).
...
*sobs in a corner*
That's not really how it goes. I've noticed that, unless someone has played a healer class before, they really don't do anything to make our jobs easier. I've had runs where DPS would stand in AoE's AND DoTs, tanks would make massive pulls and use no CDs, etc. The same players often run outside of healing range and bring their AoEs and tethers to me. It's the inconsiderate players that we'll sometimes let die, sometimes for our own good, not players that "don't do their jobs" well. I personally don't care how low your DPS is or how squishy my tank is; so long as they do their part in staying alive and not creating chaos by ignore mechanics, we're fine.
I'm guilty of "I'm not going run over to your lazy butt to give you a cure, because you can show some situational awareness, too." part. I ignored a dying DPS (who died eventually and didnt get a rezz) just because he was waaaaaaaaaaay over the far end of where our party was throughout the entire raid. It really reduced the time I needed to run back and forth, and stressing out to locate said player.
I simply do not understand how anyone fails on THE most basic rule of sticking with your party. It is extra astonishing to see this at end-game too.
sigh, im really sure where to post this. i play astro as my alt. there is something that annoys me alot, it seems that there is a stigma attached to Astro unfortunately. maybe only in my server. im not sure.
but every Thordan ex farm pt they have a permanent spot for WHM. and the second healing spot for SCH/AST. which forces me to play a Nocturnal Sect astro, something i dont like or enjoy to do.
i have healed in both sects, and from experience i think Astro can do both. Diaurnal is more optimal i would say. and fun ; ;
im not sure if other astros prefer one sect over the other. or are they forced to play one (just like how every thordan ex farm pt refuse to take an astro instead of whm, due to bad rep? stigma?)
I admit I make a point of sitting down while everyone's topped off during DPS mechanics if people whine at me for DPSing. My, that bomb is getting AWFULLY close to blowing up, could just take a little bit of extra damage to push it over... eh, you guys just work harder to do it, after all, I'm not supposed to be DPSing apparently :P
^ All of that
The times I 'let' a person die is if they're indirectly putting the rest of the group in danger by splitting my attention, causing me to run back and forth at bad times, or they're literally a waste of mp (and I don't mean that in an insulting way... I mean that in a "I'm running out of mp curing/raising you because you don't want to move" way). Even if it's a genuine mistake - decisions must be made.
I will not kill the many, just because the one refuses to cooperate or be more attentive to their surroundings.
Even if that means letting a person die so I can transplant them where they NEED to be, because no one else, in a raid of 4-5 other healers, is obviously going to help/helping them >_> *Ala pagan knot area of Void Ark...*
There are at some points where my patience is gone - I do take it upon myself to ignore their HP for a short time to teach them that I won't be walked on/their personal heal monkey when I've the rest to worry about, as well. But this all depends on what I've observed them doing, or saying, or acting, too. Being an ass puts them on my lowest list to help.... >_> If they're notably getting D/C symbol every now and then, prior to their oopsies, I hold nothing against them and assume it's lag. If it's a person with a bad/rude disposition and pulling ahead of the tank, etc.... well, I'll only prioritize healing them through it if it means it keeps the others safe. I won't pretend to be a goodiegoodie and heal everyone equally for players with poor attitudes that don't deserve it. Personal skill is not in the equation - you can just tell when someone is being lazy.
I had a SMN that did the same thing. She stood on the other side of the arena from the other 7/8 of us and bitched in /p from time to time about not getting any heals. Look, it's not my fault that you chose to stand 3 freakin miles away during the one part of Void Ark that actually requires the healers to be semi-awake (3rd boss). If you're out of range, I'm sure as hell not going to go chase you down. People that repeatedly stand in the stupid end up at my fairy's mercy. If you're too lazy to move, I'm too lazy to click and heal you.
I may or may not have accidentally done this while trying to Miasma II the Remedy bomb to slow it. >.>
Confession:
When the dungeon starts if you don't wait the 3 seconds it takes me to swiftcast Stoneskin II and slowcast Protect, you aren't going to get Protect from me at all (unless you are the tank, then I MIGHT protect you before the first boss because you probably don't know how to use buffs either).
It happened in Expert Roulette to me the other day.
I have really slow net, so sometimes it takes me a couple minutes to connect to the dungeon. But when I did I pushed my Swiftcast key and then Stoneskin II and began casting Protect. Only myself and one of the DPS got Protect and the tank hadn't even bothered to wait on Stoneskin at all.
Annoyed, I caught up to this half-dead tank, Bene'd, and helped DPS mobs. After we finished, I Swiftcasted Stoneskin II and they were off again with the impatient DPS in toe (the 2nd DPS stuck beside me when those two ran ahead, bless him).
The tank didn't wait before or after the first boss either, they just kept chugging along. But after the 1st boss the tank pulls the turtle and the 2 caterpillars down to the ants and proceeds to stand in every AoE (because they were typing), "If you're not going to bother putting Protect on me, I'm not popping anymore buffs for you."
And then they dragged those 6 mobs over to the honeycomb and, yes, proceeded to not pop any buffs. >.>
The things we put up with, I swear. Smh.
when a tank forget his CDs, or plain ignore them rather then forget, I ask after a pull of a 9999999999999999 mobs if he could do something to lower the damage intake. The asnwers I receive are just baffling, it ranges from...*you are there to heal, do your job*, *I dont have CDs to lower damage*, *I use them only if I must* and * you are a bad healer, if you were a good healer I shouldnt need to use CDs*, rarely an answer I got from nice people * I will see what I can do* this last answer is the difference between a wipe and a clear often.
I stopped loooonngg ago worrying about these things, especially when they are warned that I am wellll undergeared and proceed to pulll not one room but two, yep...even that
Reached 60 whm yesterday and got my grandmaster title, looking forward to trying out whm in pvp.
Currently my cleric stance is broken, I have more mind with cleric turnt on lmao
Dps whm ftw
(Cleric doesn't work in pvp so I have had to acquire a hybrid set)
Are there any belts with both mnd and int stats at all around i150?
Speaking of job if a DPS steals lets say 4+ mobs from tank and tank only holds a weaker mob who should healer try to heal?
from many times I have seen in the past is if DPS steals tank agro it should heal its self yet a few times healer steals tank agro what do healers say then?
tank please tank or no worry's I can self heal?
It really does depend, healers have varing ideas to how they behave. Some tanks and healers adopt the you pull it you tank it route, some just heal regardless.
Before you blame the tank there are things to consider
Tank
Is the tank in his/her tank stance? Is the tank using aoe enmity control? are they undergeared compared to the dps? Are they marking targets and dps are following?
Dps
Do they give enough time for the tank to establish a lead in hate Ie shield lob } flash before going all hammer and tongs? Are they severly overgearing the tank? Are they allowing the tank to at least begin aoe enmity before hitting their aoe rotations? Are they switching targets if they are building hate too rapidly on current target?
Healer
Are you spamming high enmity spells like medica? Are you relentlessly spamming cure II on a tank that's lost 100 hp? Are you using regen pre pull or before the tank has chance to flash?
If however you see a tank focusing one mob in a 5 plus pull as you said I would proritise the dps over tank as they clearly don't know what they are doing.
In example 2 yes if you doing everything right and still have mobs whacking on you the tank is at fault.
My confession:
While a lot of people praise my healing skills at Lv58, deep down I don't think I deserve it because I cannot multitask being a healer and dps. Outside of the Swiftcast+Holy, I refuse to do any other damage because after my second Stone III, the tanks has less than half his HP. This is with Stoneskin, Protect, and a Divine Sealed Regen and Medica II, as well as Asylum.
Haven't healed for a while and forgot that DPS take damage too if the tank doesn't hold hate. Only realized when I heard the sound of someone returning to the start... was confused for a second before I understood what had happened.
Hullbreaker isle is my antithesis it seems as all my mess ups occur here.
Pld pulls an unusually large group of mobs(i dont think he expected that many..) So im spam healing.
The critical mistake i made was casting medica 2. Hard to explain but rate of incoming damage didnt allow room for long casting spells(sc was down). So he died pretty swiftly. I should have kept with cure 2 we were ok til i got fancy. Never again.
Stood around on my AST in Void Ark fixing my near broken gear on Chuchulainn. The other rather undergeared healer was BARELY able to keep about 3/4th of the party alive. No shame.
Also I've run Nisi into a bad group on A4.
I let my tank die to Final Sting on the big pull at the second Arboretum honeycomb today because they seemed to be doing well with their defensive cooldowns and I had Asylum+Regen+Medica 2 on them, so I instead focused on getting the wall down rather than playing cautiously and keeping Cure II ready.
This has happened more often than I'd like to admit.
WHM confession: To this day I'm constantly forgetting that I have Eye for an Eye on my hotbar. I blame the fact that I had WHM through endgame for a long time before I got ACN up to the level where I had it, so I'm still used to it not being there.
Any time I heal in cleric stance :( I feel like the biggest doof.
I will admit, I've seen people either not dodge, ignore mechanics and complain to the others, in a very harsh way, or just giving a new person a hard time...or a DPS who feels they should pull for the tank who didn't ask them to. Suddenly my controller dies and I go grab a beer.
Though sometimes when I'm running the vault I look at how nice everything is and people...have..died. "What a pretty sunset..Oh $%#$!"
I'll admit that I'm never fully paying attention to what's going on on the screen. I mean, when you're farming for something, things get pretty tediously boring so I keep myself entertained by watching YouTube videos on the side while spamming Cure I hoping that the tank knows what he's doing so I don't have to keep glancing back in order to whip out the big heals. Needless to say, that has caused more than one wipe before. I can't blame anyone but myself on those occasions! Though, I do try to be a bit more attentive when in a group I've noticed aren't doing too well or the run is going particularly slow.
My biggest sin as a healer is downgrading myself to 100% healbot if a tank is rude or doesn't let me buff the party for a boss. For example, I once had to slowcast Stoneskin II (previous pull got messy, therefore no Swiftcast) before the last boss of Neverreap, and at the last second, the tank pulls the boss, interrupting my cast. So I decide to just stand there, throwing out the occasional cure and letting the battle drag on and on. Yes, I am very petty, but if you want me to dps, don't interrupt me!
Knowing a tank is about to die, but the dps [who's gonna live the next hit and I know] has an add on them, so I let the tank die to keep the dps up and rev the tank after.
So like.... sometimes I just forget all sense of healing
A poem.
*AST in a party.*
So much damage,
So much pain.
A click of the Light Speed,
a spam of the helios...
one would assume it would soothe all's fears.
Confusion appears,
and a new nightmare ensues.
Cleric Stance.
