Considering that they got angry at player feedback during the whole Stormblood lilies drama, why should we automatically assume that they're happily taking our feedback after they so publicly rejected it?

Also, I don't think I need to remind you, but the game also grew in population from ARR to HW and from HW to SB. If those job kits were so hated by this nebulous, unknown, silent majority, surely those expansions should've flopped hard?

In a moment of weakness in my ambition to get the Level 100 mount as soon as possible, I decided to queue as Sage into the 95 dungeon for quicker levelling - shouldn't be too bad right? I'm immediately greeted with a WAR who never needs any healing, a melee DPS who bloodbaths everything, and a pictomancer who knows the mechanics. Any unavoidable AOE is immediately mitigated and healed by the WAR as well with their ''shake it off/nascent flash'' abilities.

I didn't even put kardia on anyone, or have to heal anything. I literally just mashed one button for 90% of the encounter and left the dungeon. The WAR being a literal healer and replacing me isn't even the biggest problem, it's that this role just has nothing going for it outside high-end prog. No fun, nothing stimulating, no rotation of DPS buttons or mechanics to do that literally every other role gets to have. I had to put on a youtube video on a second monitor to keep me from falling asleep, how the fuck is this acceptable design for a 5th consecutive year? I just refuse to do it - the healers will be levelled with beast tribes, frontline, and books.

Small rant about my 20 minute experience of being yet again, shocked at how abysmal healing has become and how the developers have had 5 years to fix or improve on this, and instead triple down.

I'd argue absolutely. I know I tolerated ShB only as well as I did because the story was actually great. The side content wasn't as plentiful as previous expansions but that was fine for me since I just liked the story elements of the expansion. EW however, was terrible and I had even unsubbed for a year because I couldn't give a damn about any of it; The job designs had somehow gotten worse, fight encounters were mid at best (with some exceptions), the side content had 0 longevity, there was literally nothing to keep me playing. With DT's story falling even flatter and job design still falling down a crapshoot, unless the 7.X content is godly to make up for everything thus far (like SB did) than I just don't see how this is even a question or see why anyone would keep an active sub instead of just subbing to play every patch or so.

Hey I hope you guys are right, but end of the day I still do content as healers, and playing the game. I hope this garners the change people want. I also miss old healers I was one of those crazy people that enjoyed cleric stance.

I did not touch WHM, I remember lilies being lackluster and people asking for a slight buff or something. If SE got upset with the community for the feedback fair. I do not recall this.

No they would not have flopped because the game still had a fanbase, but we cannot deny the growth the game has had since SB, more people are playing. I would argue SB had the perfect balance for the content, not to hard that it turns people off but not to boring that it also pushed people away. That said I know many people that did not enjoy it.

Unfort I hate admit it but I know more people that want to get rid of things like positional skills, dots, aggro management, find GNB too "busy". As I have said many times I hope you guys get the change you want cause I also miss old healers but I am sorry from what I can tell as someone that runs content on the causal side people seem to still engage with the content as is. I just don't think most people care the way people think they do.

SE is in a weird spot cause any change to healers or tanks in how they play at this stage risk alienating a larger base. They were able to do this thing like rework how tanks tank and healer kits because to be frank the base that was playing those roles were smaller. With the influx of players the base is larger. I know many people that play tank because they are just easier melee DPS, and I know healers that now player healer that did not before because it is easier and have less to worry about.

At times I do wonder if the game is for me anymore, idk I play for my friends and I do still enjoy some of the jobs still. Maybe the game is not meant for people that want more outside of certain patch cycles. IDK

Somebody in this forum has eloquently put out a better word before: “FFXIV is like a cheap cafe. Service are… acceptable. Foods & drinks may be average or below average. But it’s a tolerable—even a nice place IF you have friends to hang around together.”

It's all anecdotal in the end. You say you see people picking up the role, while I see tanks and healers who were in the role for years dropping it entirely.

We'll just have to wait for the next luckybancho census to have a rough idea of how the population levels are going.

We do at least know that healer population has been bleeding from ShB onwards though. Perhaps it will reach a critical point in DT, perhaps not.
