1. Just pointing it out since your post implied being upset about it. Otherwise you wouldn’t have tried to spin it as if the disconnect wasn’t legitimate with quotations around “DC’r” and implying they were AFK instead.

I doubt kicking you was even crossing their minds until you made your snarky comment. After it was made, I can’t blame them from removing you—and that wouldn’t count as abuse if all 3 of them agreed they were better off without you. Vote Kick abuse is something more like conspiring to kick you before the last boss and bringing in their friend for easy roulette/dungeon experience with you doing little to provoke them. In this instance, you provoked them and they chose to remove you. Not abuse.

I’m sorry, but I’m having a hard time feeling sympathy for you based on what you wrote.

Like Hash Browns, I was with you until that tank comment. While tanks pull, the party dictates the pace. You had three people—a majority—wanting to explore the dungeon yet got mad they didn't want to adhere to your preference. They are well within their right to eject you. And no, it isn't an abuse of the kick system. GMs always default to "difference of playstyle." If they had kicked you at the last boss to sneak their friend in for an easy run, you may get a GM's attention. This? Unlikely anything comes of it.

They dismissed you because you tried to threaten them with a screenshot and (implied) reporting them if they kicked you. Did you share that chat log message with the GM or was it omitted from your report?

I would have dismissed you as well if you’d said something like that to me in a run. I don’t have time for that kind of nonsense; and, frankly, I have no interest to run with someone who feels like they have to act as you did. Being the tank doesn’t mean you’re allowed to blackmail a party into keeping you with them.

Majority rules in situations like this. The other three obviously wanted to “full clear” the dungeon while you wanted to “speedrun” it. They’re allowed to dismiss someone who disagrees with majority objective: difference in playstyle. Unless you can prove a definitive abuse in using the vote dismissal system (e.g., planning to dismiss you from the party with no reason), then they won’t be punished.

I understand them very well. I’d say you’re the one who doesn’t understand what an abuse of the vote dismissal system is, though. If a vote is justified, it’s not an abuse of the system. And I think they were justified in removing you given the attitude you had and the comments you made in your post.


That’s said, if you think the forums are a “carebear club”, it’s obvious you’re very new around here.

Sounds about right. I don't know about abusing the kick system, but you definitely dodged a bullet by them kicking you. Those are the kind that will make the dungeon take centuries by doing optional mobs on their own.

When he first realized that he was the minority in the situation and that the other 3 members of the group wanted to explore the optional paths of the dungeon, he should have dropped group if he didn't want to stick it out.

I can verifiably tell you from own experience being kicked as a tank and queueing immediately after has gotten me good results in the end. These groups take too long and waste time on trash (literally). Being kicked is the most optimal solution to this problem. You don't have to have a 30 minute timer, and can hop right back in to a (hopefully) better group.

Leaving only punishes you, then you have 30 minutes plus the time wasted with them. Optimally, you wouldn't get kicked at all, you would kick the people going and doing random trash, but sometimes you just gotta take what you can get.

Considering the other group would have had to wait on another tank to que, load, and catch up to the group only to be forced in to clearing every room, I'm fairly confident the next group that skipped all that nonsense easily finished before the slow af group.

Optimally you would queue with a pre-made group to avoid playing with a group whose choices you can't dictate or coerce. Instead, when you queue into a random dungeon group you accept what the party overall wishes to do. If you can't then you'll either have to leave, do your own thing without the group or hope they take pity on you and kick you.

To be fair, the rest of the group should have communicated their intentions before entering battle without the tank. A simple: "I need exp, can we clear everything?" at the beginning would have avoided all these problems.

Call me crazy, but i kinda doubt the guy insisting that him alone as the tank "dictates" what the group does - you know, the same one whos made more then half a dozen posts arguing/defending his position in the last 5 hours - i kinda doubt that guy would have acted any differently then he did here with a more communicative group. The type of guy who gets(justifiably) kicked from a group, goes online to complain about it, then calls everyone who disagrees with him a "carebear club" just doesnt seem likely to react reasonably.

It might not have avoided all the problems - depending on the people involved, but it is true that a little communication goes a long way.

More than once I have asked "Is it okay if we do a full clear?" at the beginning of a dungeon with optional rooms - and more often than not the rest of the group has been okay with that.

Truth be told, I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume the room you're talking about is this one:

You can access it before or after the first boss, and their is a very good reason someone, or a group might want to go in there. Fine Wax is an item only dropped in Haukke Manor, and ONLY in a chest in that room. It's (i'm pretty sure) 50/50 that either someone will get 3 pots of Fine Wax from the chest in that room, or will get 1 potion. Each wax is +20k each on my server because they are used specifically to make the manor housing items, which can range from 50k all the way up to 200k each.

But really, none of that matters because tanks aren't the party leaders, and don't control the entire group. It's a group choice to clear the room, and you went for the "I'm the leader" approach, and tried to hold 3 other people hostage. You got kicked because you weren't playing to be part of the group. Grow up. Tanks are a dime a dozen. You aren't special.

It isn't the tanks job to dictate if the group gets to enter side rooms or not. If everyone is entering them, then he was the outlier here. When you go into a dungeon, you accommodate the majority. If 3/4 want to clear every room. You clear every room. If 3/4 people want to pull small, you pull small. If 3/4 people want to pull wall-to-wall, you pull wall to wall.

This is so backwards tho. Let them finish the run ... all leave ... run in ... tag chest ... get loot ... die ... leave.

Everything is yours if you are alone and chests dont depop. If a chest is "forgotten" and i think it could be good ill pick it up for myself after.

Why run back when you can just tag it along the way?
Honestly, if it's as he says and it was 3 people together then if it dropped they were most likely gonna get the wax. The wax might have also been a weird after thought as well, since if you really wanted it, you could just queue unsynced, grab it, leave, and come back.

Either way, grabbing it did no harm to anyone, until snarky comments were made, followed by threats.

I have done that sometimes but it's actually better to do it alone after people have left so you get it if it drops, or you can just cheat and use undersized option.

You misunderstand the problem. The issue isn't the chest; we're making theories as to where and why the group deviated from The Path. Regardless of whether or not they went to that room to get that specific chest, three of the four party members split from the tank, who decided that his ego was more important than the group, demanded that they follow his lead, then threatened them when they didn't "fall in line".

Yes, they could have let the tank know they would be doing the side rooms, that would have been courteous. However, in the given situation the tank clearly wasn't paying attention to the group and just continued on forward while the rest of the group stopped at the optional room and went in. When he noticed he moved on by himself he then tried to coerce the other 3 party members to continue on with him "because he dictates the dungeon as tank".

There wasn't a problem in the first place until he made one. There's no absolute requirement that you have to follow the quickest path from boss to boss, and in a place like Haukke that has goodies and lots of experience for lower levels, people may want to clear more than the absolute minimum. The problem began when this tank couldn't keep his ego in check and threatened the other players because they didn't fall in line behind him like good greens and reds. The tank may dictate the pacing but they are ultimately part of the group, and if the group wants to do more then that's the way of it. Blackmailing the party because they tell you to stick with the group puts you squarely, 100% in the wrong.

He caused the issue when he got snippy with the rest of the party.

Let's lighten the mood, shall we?

I've always hated Aurum Vale. Not that it's hard, but it's just annoying. Go into leveling roulette as a white mage and end up getting it. I sigh, but roll my sleeves up, put on my big girl pants, and get ready to speed through.

Except.

The tank was a gladiator. Not a paladin. A gladiator. And ran into the first room without Iron Will on, spamming single target. Did so until I kept asking them to use Full Eclipse.
The black mage used fire until their mana was empty. Then...did nothing.
The bard I swear wasn't using their songs or dots.

It took us 10 minutes and three wipes to get to the first boss. No one moved out of AoE. No one got their fruits to clear stacks. Everyone was spread out. And when we got back from the inevitable wipes, instead of letting me recover MP, tank just pulled as soon as they got through the gate. I had an unfortunate DC for a second or two, and when I came back, the tank and BLM were gone, with the bard dropping soon after. I wait for a new party, we get going, and I have never been more thankful to have a tank in tank stance in my life.

Just did a MSQ Roullete and ended up with Castrum Meridianum. Everything went as normal, cleared up to the Iron Giants right before Livia without any hiccups. However, no one wanted to kill the Iron Giants and so everyone started the boss encounter instead leaving me as a GNB with the giants. Went meh to that and warped in. Phase one went by as normal but then when phase two hit the other 2 giants entered the fray along with the one that spawns during the fight. Not sure what clicked in the party's minds or what but rather than just burn Livia before the giants could do much of anything they went full panic mode. DRK started kiting Livia like she was diseased while the rest of the group burned down the giants and I just kept on Livia confused as to what was even going on with them.

A couple nights ago I queued up for MSQ roulette and landed in an in-progress party. Their progress up to that point? They were fighting Livia when I joined. Shortest run of MSQ roulette I've ever had lol. I didn't have much to do as tank, so I just whaled on Livia as best I could til it was over about a minute later.

Running Mt Gulg. Had a tank doing weird pulls. He'd pull a group. Wait til there was one left and almost dead and run to the next group. Or he'd pull a group wait a bit and then keep pulling. And I had no idea when it was safe to start attacking. The weirdest was after the second boss. He pulled that mob and pulled them to the chest and stopped. So we started attacking. He pulled them to the top of the stairs and stopped. Then he pulled them to the other set of stairs and stopped. And then he pulled that second group of giant monsters. And he was doing kind of the same thing with them. Just pulling them a couple of feet and stopping. I don't think he was trolling because other than that he was a good tank.

There is no requirement, but the assumption that the group will be doing the dungeon the normal way IS valid. If the group wants to do something else, they have the responsibility to communicate that.

I already said the tank could have handled it better, but can we at least agree that communicating the desire to do a non-standard run is common courtesy?

Went into Frontlines Seal Rock for the first time since HW. Ended up in Twin Adders.

- I asked the Alliance to attack Immortal Flames holding two nodes instead of half the Alliance attacking Maelstrom in the middle of nowhere. Someone asked me if I was high because we were flames. I had to check if I was blind for about a minute before we figured out that, yes, we were indeed Twin Adders.
- Later, the Flames held three nodes while the Malestrom was in 3rd place and we were 1st place. Yet for some reason half the alliance was still messing around with the Maelstrom, so we redoubled our efforts into trying to direct the Alliance to attack the Flames again. It worked, though we did end up in a pincer attack that we managed to get out of relatively unscathed, while Flames fell to 3rd place despite having control of those 3 nodes for most of the confrontation. Someone berated me for suggesting to leave Maelstrom alone, apparently not recognizing that I said that a whole 2 minutes earlier.

We still won, but eh.

Everything's been relatively uneventful, but something happened today that left me scratching my head. My friend and I sign up together for leveling, her as tank and me as healer. We get Aurum Vale. No biggie.
She's pulling carefully along the left wall, we attract some extra adds but nothing we can't handle, overall the whole dungeon goes without a hitch really. Everything dies relatively quickly and we finish the last boss smoothly too.
I want to type my goodbyes and the Sprout Ninja pipes up by dropping "rushing sc*m" (uncesored) in chat and we type a quick "huh?/what?" but they leave without us having any clue what this was about.

We didn't do any of the extra adds that we could avoid in the first big room, so did they want that cleared for the extra exp? I don't know, but nothing else was said all run so it left me wondering if this message was even meant for us.

Per the carebears, you should have pulled every add in every room.

When you get that DPS in Copied Factory that has on 3! level 70 pieces, dies to mechanics, and then complains about not getting raised during the first boss when myself and my co-healer are busy hard raising the DPS that actually bothered to upgrade their gear before they queued into level 80 content.

Considering Totally-Not-Gerolt gives you free i430 gear, there is zero excuse to be in level 80 content wearing gear from last expansion.
