Again, i'm not saying the WHM was even decent. I'm just pointing out some issues that were not exclusively their fault. Being new shouldn't mean the AST was exempt from anything. I'm sure the WHM didn't sign up to solo heal when theres another healer. Copied Factory isn't that difficult to the point where they would be dying constantly. It just requires situational awareness.


A medica 2 after a raidwide should be more than sufficient to keep everyone fine for a while unless theres another one coming up. And again, there's another healer to finish up the top offs if needed. If swiftcast is coming off cooldown, it may be better to do some damage and wait for it instead of just hard raising everyone you see. Or as there was apparently a RDM in the party let them spend 1 GCD resing instead of them losing 4. Also, if the AST was dying a lot, they may have thought they weren't worth the raise.

No excuse for the LB thing but, like I said, I never said they were good.

Yeah, it used to stun and extend buff durations. Now it heals or places shields depending on the AST's current sect.

Was changed in 5.0.

It did, one of the many useful parts of AST they decided to rip away from us. They should have at least moved Stun to Gravity so that it mirrors Holy... but alas... here we are

The advantage with Gravity is you don't have to be dancing around in melee range to use it. You can use it from range which frees you up to be more mobile during your dps phases.

I wouldn't mind if there was some kind of debuff attached to it that helped with incoming damage. Someone suggested a blind and that'd probably be pretty useful. But let's not pretend it has NO advantage vs Holy.

The cards just make the job so busy now. Other card system was very straightforward and simple, and should be brought back. Instead of making every single card the balance and getting rid of royal road, they should have just got rid of the balance, as it was the only card people were constantly fishing for.

Daily "expert" run. Got Amaurot.
Healer says "I'm new to healing"... forgot to mention they are new at all mechanics in the game.

Every boss is an epic race to kill before the healer dies from a simple mistake and we can't burn cooldowns to survive unavoidable damage. They die to the 1st bosses meteor 3 times in a row. Then to the falling building 2 times since they're healing instead of dodging.
Healer is running away from the focused trash mobs and not healing so the tank dies, then we die.

Finally make it to the last boss about 40 minutes in. First try, "Wow shadow wreck does a lot of damage" after we all die from it, apparently they thought we could live with 1/4th health.
Next 4 tries various combinations of him actually running off the side to avoid damage or dying to "deathly ray" from full health, just standing in it.

Last try and he lets the 2nd DPS lay dead for half the encounter, I'm burning as fast as I can because he's finally learned not to just fall off the side. Literally kill it at the last second: Boss doing Apokalypsis, no sides to run to, Damage ticking down.

Parting comment from the healer "Wow, that's exciting."

For sure, I'm not argueing that Gravity doesn't have it's own benefits. Not being stuck in the thick of it is very helpful, plus lightspeed makes it mobile and instant which is amazing. If it had a "slow" or heavy effect it would be something. I still think CO should have the stun, would make it far more versatile and wouldn't give Gravity a leg up on Holy as it would be attached to another skill.

I didn't even level ast from 70 to 80 yet(but a friend did) and i keep saying that CO should get their stun back.
Sch has enough mitigation and whm has godlike mitigation in dungeons with holy. It's ridiculous.
Ast obviously has some too, but i do not see the harm in CO getting its stun back. It doesn't even need to do much damage, just the stun.

Frankly, it sounds like you're making excuses because you think that not healing someone who takes avoidable damage is somehow good healing. Adding another bad healer to the list.

Did you even read any of what that WHM was doing? It was the entire point of the story. Defending that just makes you look like a bad healer. They were bad. Period.

Me, multiple times: that WHM did a terrible job but honestly so did the AST and they shouldnt be defended just cause they're new. also, if you see the healer just not healing for whatever reason, you should probably make a stronger effort to not eat avoidable damage.

After some tales of end content, let us go back a while to the basics.

Running Leveling as CNJ, got Tam-tara, along with Zeta glamoured (or not) PLD, a PGL and a RDM.

First pull, immediately realized PLD is pulling single mob. I am like "ok, maybe our combination might not be good for AOE." Still the mobs burn down slowly, even if I put Aero and start throwing stones. Then I found out.... the RDM is afking at the entrance.

Vote Dismiss, dungeon forbid in the name of 5 minutes, oh well.

Almost until the first orb, the RDM rush to our location, and start doing some jolt spam and maybe double cast or whatever... then afk again when that bat/diablo thingy miniboss spawned. However, as soon as boss died, RDM might realized people (or me) are starting to notice, and pick up the pace in mid dungeon...

And then proceed to afk again at the pendant altar area. Also because of loot mechanics (when rolling loot, cannot vote dismiss), the RDM is still in the party until final boss.

By that time, I give up. Do my bare minimum of cure > aero boss > moogledance.

Suffice to say the PGL got my comm, because I am not sure whether PLD is selecting his pace based on 2 basic class or to cater that red fella.

I got one! I finally got one! I have been hearing about Shire tanks getting destroyed in Castrum Abania, and finally got to experience it for myself. It still wasn't that bad. We got through without wiping at all, but the tank most certainly got destroyed. I usually don't check gear unless things aren't going right, and when the tank's health went from hero to zero in a blink of eye, I knew something wasn't right. Checked his gear and lo and behold... a full shire set and a proto ultima ring to round out his 270-ness. It was augmented though \o/

When we got to the final boss, I told him that Katsu Slash would hit me for close to 50% unmitigated in good gear when I first did the dungeon as tank, so don't get mad at me if it's a one shotter. A DPS commented at the end of the dungeon, "Thank Gawd he had a good healer." That and a round of comms definitely made me feel good, but I always have more fun when I have to use GCDs to heal. That hardly ever happens in dungeons unless the tank is made out of cardboard.

Doing Shisui to level up my DNC. My DPS partner is an RDM who... literally refuses to use any AoEs. I'm literally watching their rotation and it's jolt 2 -> verfire/verstone -> rinse and repeat until melee phase. Thanks but things are dying slowly, maybe read the tooltips of your abilities! You have multiple aoes you can make use of.

Anyways I gave up on them and gave closed position to the tank.

Eehhh that still probably wouldn't really fix it. Remove Balance? Now you're fishing for Spears (or maybe Spires, if those got the DH buff that people were expecting with the removal of TP). People will fish for the highest damage option if there is one, and one will exist so long as the cards are different. And if there isn't one - well that's where we are at now, needing the additional system of Divination to make the blander cards more interesting. As long as that system (the old one) exists, it'll have its problems. It'll just be the problem card that changes.
Of course, the new system isn't perfect either. Both have their own positives and negatives, but if I have to lean one way, personally I'll go with the new. At least this way it's less swingy and we don't have to sit around for ages pre-pull while waiting for the right card to pop up.

Leveling roulette into Sastasha, got a triple decker of German greatness. I'm almost starting to consider resigning from mentorship just from how many of the people who need help I can't help due to language barriers. TT_TT
DRK in mage robes, no CDs.
Benefic/Helios-spam Astro who did a grand total of 0 damage. Had Eng also ticked in search info, did not react to notions of maybe using a damage spell instead of Benefic with the tank at 100%.
Level 72 Black Mage who was single-targeting any group bigger than 2, but using AoE on 2 enemies. Actually listened to some autotranslates, and corrected that!

Yup, hopefully they won't :). If they don't hots will take them up to a decent level and then they can be topped up for the next raidwide. That way I wouldn't have to do something silly like spam aoe heals when hots are rolling.

It's a bigger DPS loss for a Red Mage to cast Verraise than for any of the healers. Refusing to hard raise just makes you a bad healer unless Swift is close to coming off CD or that one person just keeps dying.

To the healers getting me in Grand Cosmos: I'm sorry. I'm being super selfish and placing more of a burden on you. I'm going to try to be more considerate. Haha. xP

Weird how i said "if swift is coming off cooldown" and "if the AST was dying a lot, they may not have been worth the raise."

Also outside of very specific circumstances one RDM GCDs isn't worth losing 4 healer dps GCDs.

That's not very good math. if a healer is rezzing with out swift it costs both them and the dead person 3 gcds. Unless the rdm is in their melee combo or the healer has swift cast available within the next couple of gcds the rdm verraising is always the lower dps loss.

I'll raise someone if I have to, but it costs me a gcd swiftcast. If that person(s) keeps dying I won't raise them anymore, complete waste of MP as well. Same goes for playing white mage too.

I was in a Copied Factory where the BRD in my party had all their equipment broken by the third boss due to repeated deaths. It came to a point where they would raise with 11K HP. Eventually me (playing AST) and my SCH partner opted to just leave them face planted on the ground because it wasn't worth the MP to bring them back when they invariably died to every avoidable mechanic possible.

Sorry BRD :/ Wish there was more we could do for ya as it's your first time running the instance but it's hard for me to keep my party healthy already when most of them are eating vuln stacks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

That dead person is getting a 25% penalty. Their GCDs aren't worth much. You're also not accounting for RDM having weak MP sustainability nor their GCDs being worth more. That isn't to say they shouldn't ever use Verraise but healers should be expected to hard raise. More often than not, you'll see them refuse to do so without Swift. Which is the problem.

Admittedly, it'd be better to say expecting the RDM to continuously Verraise is where the DPS loss becomes a bigger factor.

Haukke Manor, I'm tank. We load in and I start running forward to pull. Just as i'm beginning to pull 2 group, someone says that someone DC'd (they didn't), so I bring the pack back and 3 of us kill em. The "DC'r" returns (so he was afk) and we continue. I pull the 2 floating chicks and the group at the locked door, a pretty easy pull under most circumstances, we wipe. I start slow pulling and continue on past the first locked door and head down the hallway to the first boss, pulling 1 floating chick and 1 group, turn back to find that the other 3 weren't there... they were in the optional locked room, tanking and dpsing the mobs from that room without me. I asked them to stay with the tank to which I was met with a snarky "stay with the group". I responded with "last I checked, tank dictates the direction and pace. Screenshot taken incase you guys try and abuse the kick system." Was met with a bunch of vitriol and then the healer stopped healing me (they were from the same server so I assume they were with each other.) They eventually kicked me and I instaqued right back up and likely finished the dungeon before the other group. I did report them for kick system abuse and the GM seemed like he was going to bring the hammer down. Hope those a-holes got their accounts suspended for abusing kick system. Good times.

The person dc-ing could have been momentarily lagging/pokeballing without actually being kicked out of the game. Seen it happen loads of times.

That said, can’t really blame them for kicking you. I would have kicked you for your attitude and attempted blackmail.

May also want to edit out the profanity—just like in game, it’s an easy way to get your forum account suspended.

Last I checked, Tanks DO run the group. If they wanted to 100% clear the dungeon, they can roll a tank. I can play the waiting game just as much as them, but it still doesn't warrant them abusing the kick system and the GM agreed. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it law.

Yeah, I'd kick you too. You were rude and threatening. And it is common sense to stay with the group and not sprint away. Even and especially as a tank.

I wasn't rude, nor threatening. You too would have abused the system and been reported. The system isn't there for people to kick just because they don't like what the other person says. I wasn't "AFK", I wasn't "Harrassing" anyone, I wasn't "Disconnected". Can't remember what the fourth option was, but I wasn't that either. Regardless of what you think, there are rules to the kick system, and if you use those options to kick people because you don't like them or their opinion, IT'S STILL ABUSING THE SYSTEM, and there's no argument against that.
