Well, no matter what reasons could added for this or that type of viera devs will not necessarily follow those.

Shorter then female is pretty okay but having them looking like kids while they are supposed to mate with in game female viera seems a bit hard to digest.

I personally dislike a lot the sexual dimorphism of au ra, I'd prefer they made one of the 2 clans taller and the other smaller if something.
About male viera my preference would go for tall athletic bodies without being bulky and I see it fitting with the descriptions of what kind of life male vieras experience.

Took another look at Fran while playing last night.... not counting her ears, she's only about as tall as a midlander male, which made me think, the shorter-average athletic build male isn't really a thing in the game as-is. You have the muscle slider on the midlander, but even set to max, they still look pretty twink. I think they could fill a missing role of build to have the max height of the male midlander (to satisfy those who don't want them crazy short) with a min height of the miquote or au ra female (for those who do want them shorter) with the muscle slider giving more definition than it currently does for the midlanders.

You can't really do a tall version of men and a short version because that basically is the same work for modeling armor as creating two entirely different races, and that work is the reason they didn't make male viera in the first place. If they ask for player feedback, they're likely to go with some middle ground, or make up their own concept of what they think it should be independent of our opinions.

I admit, was my fault for actually not wording things right here. I guess people saying they want small, young and basically underaged Viera (like alphinaud) started this whole subject. And it indeed is weird that even people bring up sexual subjects in these terms whenever people want small or feminine males. I guess this is sort of sexism as well?

Edit: to be fair, when I hear shota-loli I do not think of paedophile, but rather the genre they appear in the japanese popculture. Either way, got nothing more to add here.

This is partly the reason female lalas sometimes scare me. If done "wrong" you can turn them into major lolis. Thankfully, those cases are few and far between. Males are a little easier to work with, they either look like cute young boys, or cute old men. Females however have a finer line. But all this aside. I would like another shorter race option. I'd like to have knees again, lol.

I think this is a point people forget. Also, isn't it a thing in a lot of eastern animated media where you'd have a guy who was like 20 or 30 something but drawn looking like he was 16? (Think Captain Levi.) And also, aren't there irl dudes who look younger? (I'm going on 27 and still get carded. I have a friend who's 30 and also still gets carded. Another guy I used to work with was also pushing 30 and legit looked like a kid.)

i don't think female au ra look younger than alisaie at all, they look a bit innocent, but nowhere as childish as her.
also i don't understand why people want a small thin male viera. male miqo'tes are already cute, small (second smaller race after lalas) and thin. why want the exact same thing all over again? i've always pictured viera as long athletic and slender, like most of the artowrks of them, males and females.

I get carded too! I'm also much smaller than the average for my age. BUT there is a HUGE difference between a young man and a child.

Levi is a handsome young man! just because he is small, doesn't make him look like a child. I would love a race with the bodytype of levi! Why not?

In either case, I'm not too keen on having a short character myself, as I'm more or less average height. Also, Levi could have been written as a teenager. There are anime characters who are teens but look old enough to be his father. Would we have an issue with people wanting to look like them too?

It seems kind of moot anyway, as Yoshida just confirmed how they would most likely look in an interview today. Slim, Elegant and Handsome - like the elven race with bunny ears. Most likely they'll be using the adult elf model to adapt from.

The issue with comparing this to anime is that it is extremely polarizing on the looks. In -most- anime, people look like they're in their late teens until they suddenly look like they're 60+. it's not really a good base of comparison based on, say, something that is 3D and more detailed. FFXIV has an 'animeish look' but it's nowhere near as polarized.

And no. Alphinaud does not look like he could pass as 20. When I saw him and his sister the very first time, I said '13 at oldest'. When they said he was 16 I literally snorted thinking 'yeah, no way'. They haven't changed at all, save for new VA's.

Anyone I introduce to the game, too, asks 'who are these two infants/children/other synonyms for very young people?'

He does not look 20. Not even close. And almost anyone who first sees him does not even guess 16. Most guess even younger.

Also, I get carded all the time as well despite being well over 18. I 'look young' and I definitely don't want an avatar to 'represent that' in game. I get enough people creepin' as it is.

While the height is still up for dispute. I've never really described small as 'elegant' - it seems to be more linked to 'tall' individuals - rather than small. And wasn't there some issues where they didn't want anyone to have a childlike model like Alphy's or the Padaj? I might be remembering something incorrectly.

Anyway, seems like they'd be similar to the females.

well he compared them to elezen. so i think probably tall and elegant - which is more than perfect and would fit male viera as a good counterpart to female viera, which are also tall, elegant and slim.

Elezen age a little slower than humans - about 10-20% as an estimate. They reach adult height around age 20.

That would put Alphinaud physically equivalent to a human around 13-14.

I'm so happy with Yoshi P's description of how male viera might look. As long as they keep them slim instead of buff, I'll be happy! Bonus points if max height male viera is a little shorter than max height female. Would really love it if male viera had the body type of omega m. The devs did a really good job with the female models, so I'm sure they'll do a good job with the males too. I hope we don't get the giraffe neck treatment.

Tharion's physique seems to fit into both camps very well, all we'd need is a height slider that can go to same height or below the female Viera and from peoples descriptions, it seems people would be relatively pleased?

Can the male Viera look like loner archers/hunters? Slender, not to tall, for sure no where near popoto short. I would say right in the middle of the tallest elezen male and the shortest Au'Ra female, for the middle height of the male Viera. Give them a muscle slider to make people happy and be done with it.

I was playing with my Elezen character just now and found someone wearing Omega gear, so I tried it on. It definitely looks slimmer than the shirt he's wearing in the screenshot I posted earlier. So it's worth having a look at those for yourself.
