yeah.. especially when Elusana_Celah didn't say WHY they couldn't find a group (in their case, they were not searching particularly hard, which doesn't help)
You realize your attitude is part of the problem right? You just essentially asserted that all good players capable of doing those fights are elitists. You're wrong, and you have a crappy attitude about it if that's what you think. It's just as bad as the actual elitists you don't like. Just because players are skilled and coordinated enough to complete fights does not automatically make them elitists. The ability to do those fights is a skill. Elitism is an attitude. They are not mutually exclusive. There are plenty of people out there with the skill that don't have the elitist attitude. If this is the attitude you have I'm glad you don't do those fights. It's always the player like you who causes the most drama in the tougher fights because they throw little temper tantrums when things get tough. Then they blame it on all the "elitists" and storm off. I never have those issues with the "elitists."

Hildibrand lives forever.
I love Hildy and hope to see him in 3.0! :D
*manderville posing in 2.5 and beyond* <3
Hildibrand follows exactly what a Final Fantasy game is. If you don't like it, then you must play something else or ignore the quests o_o;
We want Hildi.
*ahem* Let me tell you a thing. My Static bloody well jumps at the chance to do Ultros or Gilgamesh fight. We have a lot of new players in our Linkshell, and Gilgamesh fight. Everyone's like, "I FKN LOVE THE MUSIC." And turns it up. And don't get me started on the Ultros fight.
We're all excited about stealing the Highlander Males /pose too.
I greatly enjoy Hildibrand's Quest line and I'm always severely disappointed when he's NOT in the patch notes. It's light hearted and fun. Make's me laugh and I understand that some of you disapprove of it. And for that, I apologise.
More Hildibrand and Godbert for everyone.
hahahhahahahahahha
keep dreaming, a MMO can survive without the hardcore few if it can appeal to the casual masses.
Also, way to miss a point, Chocoferu never said a thing about hard content not being in MMOs or anything, just Hildibrand following FF's spirit. Stop your blind crusade and try to actually read what you're commenting
Could every raider here calm down and not act like we won't get any new hard content if Hildibrand content keeps coming out? Thanks.
Posting in a troll thread.
Is this a troll thread?
I swear to god this is a troll thread, you guys.
welcome in a forum, where quoting someone actually means you either agree (but you would have said so) or disagree with the post. Also your point was bad. Of course elite players want elite content. That's a given. That's not what the OP asked for so you missed an other point by a far margin. Way to go.
Also, without the "hardcore people" that you are thinking about, the game would just be a better place with people playing primarily for fun, with no stress and pressure about results. It doesn't mean there can't be difficult content however. Or that people wouldn't be dedicated.
And the OF won't miss an elitist like you are, don't let the door hit you on the way back.
You might want to learn what irony is. It would have served you well there.
And relief (after beating one's head against the walls for hours) =/= fun. But you might not want to hear that. You're not what you think you are. Your kind of people seek challenge (no pun intended) above fun. Yes you find having a challenge fun, but once it stops being a challenge you lose interest in it (oh look at the post you linked here, my point being proved..).
You're implying hardcore players are not "playing primarily for fun" there, yes? I'll break it to you, yes we play for fun even if it means we have to play with stress and pressure about results. The end result is even better. But that I doubt you can comprehend.
If you want to talk about missing points, I invite you going back to this thread and to look back at your post, where you absolutely missed my entire point. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2664156
It's like your sole existence is restricted to looking like a total moron on forums no one cares about. Hence, this will be the last time I reply to you. Good evening. :)
(and no, blaming it on irony won't make your point look valid all of a sudden, you're still a retard that's shitposted 2,250 times solely in the past year, way to go)
I don't get all the hate going on here. Don't get me wrong, I cannot stand the Hildebrand quests, I've hated the guy since 1.0, the only effect it has on me though is I can't queue for Trial Roulette. Any trial I NEED to get done other people doing the roulette end up with me. Requiring me to have it done just hurts other people, really, since I'll never end up in their queue. Would I prefer not to have the requirement? sure! but the small bonus for doing them just isn't compelling enough to do content I hate. If people enjoy him, let people enjoy him. If you don't, then stay away. There's better/faster ways to get the roulette rewards anyway. I just feel bad for the increased queue times for really low level trials that are in there, who end up waiting longer because of it.
I pretty much won't congregate with anyone who doesn't like Hildibrand. They are simply not appreciative of art in its highest form. I bet most don't even know what "dada" is. Charlatans!
Oy more dumb us vs them. The community won't magically become all unicorns and rainbows if there's no raiding scene. There are tons of MMOs now and in the past with very light or no serious endgame. Communities suck there too. It's a terrible misnomer that driving away endgame will automagically make people stop being dicks. I'm pretty sure elitists arent the reason hunts are still a whiney shoutfest, or ct is full of trolls, or 80% of the population can't beat t5. No specific sub group of players is the cause of all community problems in this game. A holes are the reason for crappy community and anyone from a weekend warrior to Collision members can be a holes.
on topic, I personally don't care for hildy or savage coil. Just don't bundle different sets of optional content together. Give players the freedom to choose what they want to do without being hamstrung. And before the 50th person says trial roulette and hildy are both optional so it doesn't matter! Flip the script. Golden saucer is optional, coil is optional. So no one would care if coil gates saucer right? See how dumb that logic is? There's no harm in just keeping it separate. I don't see why there's a big push back to untie it from duty roulette or untie it from saucer. Why is that so unpalatable exactly?
As some one that likes FF games, and knows that the humor of hildy lines up with much content throughout
FF (ultros, I'm looking at you) I don't see why this is still going. It is classic. It breaks up the seriousness.
I'm not asking to make less hardcore content in favor of more hildy. But I will take a stance if people want
less hildy in favor of more hardcore. There is a reason there are separate teams working on these. Its
so content comes out for both crowds. Its cool you dont like it. But they do have to please everyone, and
outreach more to the larger crowds.
EDIT-> we should be avoiding this us vs them casual vs hardcore nonsense, as long as they make content
for both camps, they can get money from both camps and continue to provide both groups good conent.
personally im in the middle road, i love crystal tower large raids and pvp.
There's at least a couple reasons why Coil is separate from everything else though. I would hope you'd be able to figure out what they are. You're literally thinking of things that are irrelevant to each other simply because of the "optional" word being thrown around. It's not a strong argument on your end by doing that, since it ignores any legitimate causes for why things are this way. Pause for a second and consider that there are reasons why things are the way they are. I'll start you off by emphasizing how popular Hildibrand is, who the target audience is, how enjoyable the Greg (and Ultros) fight was for the majority of the player base, and that those fights are mandatory to progress through this popular quest chain.
I'd like for the main scenario cuscenes to have as much....animation as the Hildebrand. Granted, Hildebrand is over the top and the main story is really just alot of talk. Still, it'll be nice to have more action scenes in the main story
my fc's scholar can solo heal most of the ex primals and is up to T13.
Elitist is the one thing he is NOT.
So i agree with Tiggy, your attitude is whats bad Elusana, and you won't find the party, fc, server, civilisation that will want to carry you through content by maintaining it.
Check your attitude, and then you will find people who are great at the game, that actually want to play with you.
Single worst thread I've ever seen on the official forums.
Unironic accusations of 'demanding carries' tend to be the first and last indicator that someone's mindset is, in fact, rooted in elitism. Especially when all the poster you're talking to said is "I don't enjoy this content or the company of the type of people who play it so I don't engage in it."
Jussayin'.
we need more Hildibrand quests and some Godbert quests
Not signing the petition either.
I love Hildibrand! The storyline is rather heavy handed, and Hildibrand is the much needed comical note for me.
Bumping for support. Please sign the petition if you agree with my sentiments.
I thought it was clear by now that almost noone agree with you
actually, many of us agreed that maybe we could have something else. However, asking for something as restrictive as FCoB savage mode in place of "all can do" content is plain dumb. And well, yeah, noone came with a better idea than hildi yet :/
I think Hildebrand is great and all, but I do agree that production time could be better spent elsewhere... Not necessarily Savage Final coil, because well, that is content that appeals to very few people. But at this point i am a bit over Hildebrand, the humor and all the silliness is great, but maybe his story needs to come to, at least, a temporary end. I'd prefer something with better play value, perhaps with Golden Saucer coming out the time that's currently being spent on Hildebrand could be spent on coming out with new games, things that have actual replay value and are fun. Instead of the constant "Grind this dungeon" or "Bash your head against coil for x amount of hours"
I agree with the basis of the OP, perhaps some of you guys should stop the fanboy freak out and actually contemplate the idea.
I agree, Hildebrand dev time needs to be given to something else.
Give it to Godbert or Hildy's Mom! Or introduce another new character that is a fun side quest of things to do for side story. We need more fun solo content like this in the game, I loved how they manipulated the character models to do things outside the normal parameters of the game, like giving Hildy the Troll face or Godbert suplexing Hildy, and the speedy running thing they did. Made me think of Inspector Gadget and the terrible but fun Saturday Morning Cartoons we used to have growing up.
I'd love to see come Cait'Sith and his mounted Moogle Doll become a character like this, now that we are getting the Golden Saucer!
"Savage" raids should never happen again unless there is physical reward for doing them.
Even gear that is 5 item levels higher would be fine. Don't make it so pointless that less than 1% of the playerbase even attempts it.
