They need to fix the EXP levels for alliance roulette so it's worth our time to do the much longer and more challenging Ivalice raids. MSQ roulette is at least tuned so that Prae gives a ton of EXP in exchange for sitting through 50 minutes of cutscenes. Right now high level players just looking for EXP/tomes may even dodge Ivalice entirely by putting on low ilevel gear. If I get Orbonne and someone leaves at the beginning, I will also leave because better that then getting all the way to Cid, wiping once and voting abandon after 40 minutes (yes, this happened :().

I'm new to tanking and so with my DRK, I'm running low leveling roulettes to get the hang of it. I have to say I really enjoy it! With all the venting, I wanted to share a fun story. We're in Sastasha and 'm feeling out my healer to see how big I can pull. I pulled big before the final boss, and watched my hp tick down to 30 (eek!), even with Rampart. All of a sudden, I'm healed back up. I didn't say anything, but the healer chimed in with "sorry, I was watching the sunset and got distracted". Both of the dps and I got a good laugh out of that! :) We cleared the rest quickly, and cheered each other on. I love groups like that. If you're the healer, I'd love to watch that sunset! :)

So, I always groan inside when I get Orbonne, because it always seem there's a particular group (usually Alliance C, for some reason) that will wipe the group at least once (if not repeatedly) on Thunder God. Further, even if they don't, it's almost always twice as long as any other AR roulette.

Got Orbonne the other day and voiced this concern, had somebody go "nah, man, people got this, it won't happen, if you think it's hard it's probably that you don't know how to play." ...after another party in the alliance wiped us 5 times...they ate their words. (Granted, to prove I'm not always right...it was Alliance A that wiped us those times during that run, not Alliance C. Alliance C did just fine.)

AR raid got vote-abandoned after an hour of bad attempts, and I actually got the same guy who was talking crap to me in the new AR raid (this time it was Rabanastre). He opened up in /shout with 'At least it isn't Orbonne.'

I laughed, and then said 'hi' back to him. :P

Booo Orbonne is an amazing raid!

Yeah, but a lot of people are bad at it.

Also, a lot of the voice clips still cut off, and it's really annoying. As if them never shutting up wasn't bad enough.

Ever since ShB started, I've been joining a lot and I mean A LOT of in-prog Orbonne. It's come to a point where I bet myself every time i see the timer for alliance queue. If I see 24+mins have passed, 9/10 times it's Orbonne (and I'm usually right). It's even worse when you learn that people bailed on the first wipe. There have been some runs I've asked how was it up to Cid--because it's usually the part where people bail--and the responses have been mixed. Some runs apparently, people were wiping or struggling right up to Cid, other runs, every thing was fine up to Cid.

As for when I get Orbonne from the get-go rather than in-prog, I've started asking myself if I should just take the penalty immediately if people are just gonna bail after a single wipe.

Orbonne is fun, and I wish I got it more for Alliance Roulette(heck, last night an FC member asked for DPS to queue in progress for it...there were at one point 8 DPS queued for it and that member kept saying that none have been joining, went on for 15min of me trying to get in to help them out)

I had a bit of a derp moment in the Twinning earlier. Final boss, LB2 popped and I may have been a little too quick to hit it... The boss decided to drop two lasers on top of me while the LB was casting. Both exploded and wiped the group. Oops!

Hey healer, if i'm down to less than 5% HP, maybe heal me instead of asking "Tank why you die?" when i drop to the next auto attack in E2s.

Or leaving me at below 20k HP when the tankbuster comes out and then asking "Tank why you die?"

Or not healing the party between Quietus casts at the end and then asking "Why we wipe?" when everyone except the tanks drop dead.

E2s is nasty enough as is without DPS only healers adding to it.

Still no clear this week, to think that subsequent weeks would be just as bad as the initial clear...You'd think the second time around would be easier...

While not exactly Duty Finder, I did have a "OH SHIT PLEASE DON'T DIE" moment doing Zonureskin maps. During one of the rooms, the Mandragoras(numbered 1-5) spawned. Number 5 spawned right next to me, just as I finished Technical Finish and pushed the button for that sweet damage....I think it had less than 50 HP when the skill went off because I couldn't see a pixel of HP bar remaining...but it was still alive.

Honestly I'll take Orbonne any day of the week, even if it's a wipefest. I am soooooo sick of seeing Labyrinth and Tower, day after day for the last two months. Who knows? Maybe if people didn't drop their i-lvl to actively try and avoid Orbonne, we'd all see it a lot more, and therefore the community would be more competent at running it. Definitely needs an adjustment like MSQ roulette, though. Spending an hour in that place versus fifteen minutes in Syrcus Tower deserves apt compensation.

Looks like I finally get to join in on the trend of people queuing into content without proper gear!

What happened? I decide to level Warrior and get Holminster Switch in Leveling Roulette. Cool! More experience. No one says anything and I go about the first big pull—the one with only the single bear. I notice right away despite rotating CDs... I'm not getting healed. Or at the very least, said heals aren't doing much. Blow through Vengeance, Rampart, Shake and was grudgingly going to hit Equilibrium (I really wanted something for the next pull) but die before I can. No biggy. We softened 'em up, right? Just to be a little safe, I only pull the bear before grabbing what remained after. I straight up explode this time even with Vengeance. I'm pretty sure the Astro outright didn't heal. She immediately bails afterwards. So I look at her lodestone while we wait on a healer. What do I find? Level 60 accessories. She had on gear 11 levels below the dungeon...

Not like that 300+ Mind would help keep me alive or anything. Nah! It's totes okay cause she held grade IV melded in them.

I rather just run the lower-level ones that take 15 min or less, I just don't find for the time or aggravation the Ivalice raids to be worth it. Most people at this point just want their tomes, so they get on auto-pilot and mechanics go out the window. This does NOT work in Orbonne or any of the Ivalice raids for that matter. What's crazy to me is the Thunder God mechanics aren't all the difficult to understand, yet it creates the most problems.

Had a few strange runs in leveling dungeons lately. First in Dohn Mheg there was this dragoon sprinting ahead of everyone into the bossroom, jumping at the boss straight away. DRG died before the tank and healer even crossed the blue line, then complained that 'this is clearly not a speed run' (whoever told them that?). When the DRG came back the DRG got frogged and kept standing in AOEs and failing mechanics, prolonging the self-intended 'speed run' even longer.

Then I went in Sohm Al as WHM, the tank (GNB) ran off, pulled everything until the first wall and nearly dropped death. I popped Benediction right before he popped Superbolide and I healed him back up. Next he pulled big again and.. died nearly instantly. He was dropping down faster then I could ever heal [Benediction still on CD and a swiftcasted Cure III was not enough] and I was like 'What the...?' His gear was all ilevel 270 (maybe broken?) but he never used a cooldown. We start over, reached the boss... where he used them all at the same time, right at the beginning of the fight. It went better after the first boss as he pulled smaller, but still...

In Holminster Switch I again had a tank who never used (or used them all at once) cooldowns but this time the DPS was also bad as the DDs didn't AOE much, so I had the feeling I need to do everything by myself, spamming holy between healing the tank and even managing positions by using rescue more then once on a clueless BRD who kept standing where noone should be standing in. Even had to solo-break the chain on the last boss, because noone cared about their captured teammate. Wiped once too but in the end we pulled through somehow..

If you aren't the first one leaving, I'm fairly sure you don't get a penalty. Also you can lower your item level before queuing and then change right back and BOOM, no Orbonne.

I got kicked from an alliance roulette, Dun Scaith. Haven't done it in eons because let's face it, when do you ever get it in roulette. So ofc, everyone's struggling as most don't know the fight. Get to the final boss and I've been spending CDs like a mofo. I'm busy healing 98% of the time as WHM. I rez the tank at one point, he immediately dies after because I don't have a single instant cast to get him up and only can hard cast cure. He dies in the mean time and proceeds to bitch me out for it. "You have full mp you're just not healing". They then proceed to kick me after we wipe because the tank cleaved the party. (The same tank stood /WAY/ outside my range on the first boss and I had to somehow weave between mechanics and getting close enough to top him off.) Amazing. Thanks co-healer, who I had to work round the clock purging doom on everyone including yourself and rezzing almost everyone. Jesus christ.

Problem is Orbonne's (and all of the Ivalice raids, and Dun Scaith from Mhach) amount of time spent isn't worth the exp. When LotA and ST offer the same amount of exp for 1/4th the time of Orbonne you know there's a balancing issue. I'm an absolute advocate for Mhach, Dun Scaith, and Orbonne popping up in rous. I love them so much as they actually require a working brain and isn't just a simple burn. Problem is when people drop because they know it's going to be a time waste it makes everyone else drop.

I actually had Orbonne yesterday on my lunch break (about two hours) and one alliance kept wiping on Cid three times in a row. We explained the mechs, we showed them how it works, yet a bard in another alliance kept Caustic Biting him and we had to keep going through it on the fly.

Fact is I want to do these raids in alliance rou, but the majority of people are either not in for the investment, or can't handle simple mechanics that lead to a wipe. I pray when we hit the Nier series this will be less of an issue as everyone will be bringing their A-game (I hope).

Sounds about right, these are the kind of kicks that make me personally mad. You should have kicked the tank. The group almost always clicks yes in alliance roulette on whatever kick is in front of them.

The only time people will want to do any kind of raid that requires the higher time investment is when they get relevant drops. However, expect even more people failing those mechanics because of it. It's a double edged sword. People who are uninterested in learning to play properly will not change, they will expect to get carried for their drops. One or two people isn't too bad, but in an alliance raid this seems to be a large amount of people.

Just in case someone has just come from completing a Raba raid like, maybe 30mins ago and noticed a Hrothgar afking within the first 5 seconds of the first boss fight in Aether...

That was me. Got family aggro, which spiraled into something else. Couldn't even get back into my computer to take the penalty. Sorry about that.

Just ran a dungeon with someone named “Butt Nut” ������

Ran Expert roulette with one of my friends/FC member earlier, we got The Twinning, which is all good with me, I like the music and the dungeon. I'm tanking, my friend is a RDM. We get to the first trash mob, and everything goes as standard procedure, I use my AoEs, keep aggro of the enemies. But as I'm AoE'ing, every so often, I'm glancing at my HP bar, and I'm noticing I'm dipping below 40k at times, which makes me wonder if the healer is healing. We get through the first mob, move on to the next area, and again, it happens. I'm dipping below 40k HP again, which makes me REALLY wonder if the healer is healing me at all.

We reach the first boss, and this is where everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Healer gives me the minimal heals every time I get smacked by an attack, spends more time DPS'ing, uses their panic heals when they realize I'm at 4 digit HP, while the other DPS plants the marker attacks either smack dab in the middle of the arena, or right beside the glass cages, unleashing an add. Needless to say, with me only being healed enough to keep me alive or have panic heals used on me, we wipe, and the healer immediately leaves. A second healer comes along, and they're much better, but in the process of trying to keep me healed, they break a glass cage, and the other DPS is still doing his thing of planting everything in inconvenient places. As much as I felt for the healer, since they did their best, I ended up leaving after wiping, because the DPS was making the first boss fight 10x harder than it really is.

I have so many horror stories from DF as tank/DPS during this expansion.

Did a dungeon today where the tank and healer were actively battling to see who could be the biggest jerk, then they called each other out after we cleared the last boss. That was fun...

Im in the "Sepulture is a fun fight" camp(though it took me a couple weeks to get there). I ran it blind the first week, cleared with minimal hassle(maybe 1 wipe, 3ish personal deaths). Didnt remember the mechanics correctly the following week and absolutely sucked(again, sorry to the people on my team that week - i was awful... but we cleared without wiping and i got my drop, so my 8ish personal deaths were just an embarrasment). The following week i watched a vid to refresh myself on the parts id forgotten and cleared twice with only one death per run(once due to being greedy on an extra cast, once to standing in a bad spot). Clear the week after was almost perfect(no deaths, only one dodge missed). My problem was that i got 2 of the attacks backwards in my head that i did mostly right the first time, so the second time they killed me repeatedly.

I wont bother with all the names, but he has a variety of roomwide attacks. None of these is a super big deal, just a normal healthrough. I forget the name of the tankbuster, but you know how to deal with a tankbuster. The rest of his attacks are dodgeable. Most of them have telegraphs - dont stand in the bad should be common sense. The 2 attacks he got me on dont have an initial telegraph, just a secondary one. Massive Landslide and Fault Zone. For Massive Landslide you stand in front of him to dodge the first attack(standing to the side is big damage and a big knockback), then move to either side for the aftershock. For Fault Zone you want to stand to his side - specifically on the wide side of the platform(its a 4 by 4 and this attack always starts in line 2 or 3). In front of him for that attack is death, standing to the side has a knockback so you want to be on the wide side so as not to be knocked off - then dodge aftershocks as they appear on screen. So obviously, the week i dodged Massive on the side and Fault in front lead to a lot of deaths. Usually with me realizing what id done about half a second too late to move to the right spot.

So yeah, fun fight. Not too much to dread.

Had the worst healer of my (only a few months long, admittedly) FFXIV life today. Shisui of the Violet Tides on my DRK, pulled the first two groups and my health keeps going lower and lower.... no heals. Pop my DCDs, still die because no heals. Notice the WHM is just standing there doing nothing! Get a res while the poor DPS get rekt. Die again. Healer chimes in and says they forgot the dungeon is only level 64, didn't realize they were missing a certain ability. I'm a little annoyed but whatever it's no big deal we've probably all done it before.
But they still continue to just... not heal. Every trash pack went mostly the same - they sit there for 2-3 GCDs doing nothing, then cast Holy once or twice. I'll be low on HP, everyone else is full, they cast.... Medica 2! Every. Trash. Pull! Medica 2 on single target!
There's no more wipes but oh my goodness. By level 64 you should know how to play your class. Even a job skip is no valid excuse - I admit I job skipped DRK (to 60) and BLM (to 70, and it's now my first and only level 80 <3) since I despised them at low level - but I spent full hours learning how to play them before jumping into ANY content, even baby dungeons. BLM's rotation and skill descriptions are etched into my brain at this point.

Just... ugh. This is why I'm going to spam trusts to level my tanks. DF healers are so inconsistent.

Well I guess there's a first time for everything. Healing The Twinning as a SCH and the tank murdered me by running to my safe spot on the second boss (we both had markers). I was near the edge so naturally I have to run forward about 1/4 of the arena to the nearest open spot. Tank doesn't run left, no, he beelines straight for the other spot closest to him (mine) and stands there. No hesitation whatsoever and didn't budge. Had I anticipated that I might've healed myself up to eat it.

Just had a SCH decide that they were the only person in the party. They healed nothing, waited for no one, and left corpses of allies to rot. But they did find time to complain in the chat about how bored they were a few times? Maybe a role player who took the douchebag roleplay to heart?

I was struggling on my first run, but the description someone gave in party chart turned it into a trivial fight in an instant:
He goes Mega Man: Stand in front, then sidestep
He goes Mario Cart: Stand on side with 2 tiles

That's literally all you need to remember, the other mechanics are self explanatory as soon as you see them.

Tale 1: I join another FC member in cwpt for 50/60 dungeons (Yes, it was a long time ago). We get Quarn Hard, everyone is properly geared & begin. Good? Not.
Tooks us 110 minutes to finish it because the Shire geared WHM went full floor tanking from every boss mechanic.

Tale 2: Keeper of the Lake with Warrior not in Defiance (Yes, this was also a long time ago). Eng speaker, was told multiple times to use it, not a single response. We had enough & kicked it before the last boss. Was it a pricky move? Yes. Was it justified? It was for me.

Tale 3: Copperbell mines Hard. Tank decides to go full Jerkins & pulls Literally everything inside the Boss rooms. The 2 DPS were not any better throwing some auto translates like [Full Thrust] [Rear] [Inner Release]. We wiped around 6 times because of that kind of "playstyle". I threw a kick vote for Harrassment, it failed. Instead, I was kicked before the final boss. I wasn't mad, but I did regret not leaving on my own way earlier.

Tale 4: Haukke Manor Normal. Oh wait, I have 2 tales for this dungeon.
a) The Healer has a lvl1 Glamour chest equipped & only that. When they were told to change their equipment they replied "Yeah, not happening". I don't remember if it was kicked or left on their own.
b) The run goes steadily. Until we reach the 1st boss which takes way longer than usual (like 5~7 minutes long). Out of curiosity I checked everyone's equipment. All of them had pieces variying from lvl5 to 25 with some, let's call them "wrong" class equipment for variety. [Nope] I thought & instantly left.

Tale 5: Queue time pops & before the dungeon even loads, I go the bathroom. It took me barely a minute to return only to see the Tank having pulled almost everything except like 3~5 mobs until the 1st boss. Needless to say, we wiped & then the tank started complaining about me being afk & not saying anything. 1) How am I supposed to write Afk while being afk before the pt even forms is beyond me. 2) You see I'm not moving (so you can at least assume I'm afk), why the hell do you sprint & pull everything?

That was me! xP Eden is a lot easier than Commence Airstrike.

Commence Airstrike tries to trick you into killing yourself. It's a peculiar and cruelly designed mechanic. The way to dodge it runs counter to what your instincts tell you. There are three ways to survive it, and all three are pretty obtuse.

But nothing lies to you in Eden. It's all very obvious.

I haven't healed Eden, but based on what I've seen, it seems its biggest issue is other people dying to Landslide.

Edit: For Eden, E1, 2, and 3 are all really self-explanatory. E4's Massive Landslide and Fault Zone mechanics are the ones that kill people, so study these closely. Once you've mastered the "run to the corner" mechanic of E1, the "don't stand here" mechanics of E2 and E3, and Massive Landslide/Fault Zone, you'll be perfect.

So I decided to jump on an alt and get her GNB closer to 70 so she could start the ShB MSQ. Queue into Alliance Roulette and I get Dun Scaith (I’m shocked it wasn’t LotA or ST). Well, the MT died to both Scathach and Diabolos (both forms), so I pick up the boss because idk what the third tank was doing. And the healers heal me at first, and then just stop. I died 3 times to Diabolos Hollow after rotating everything I had (including Superbolide) to his tankbusters. I was near death during his vanilla autoattacks. Idk what they were doing—probably raising the two BLMs that refused to move out of the middle and were pingponged around by the floating orbs—but I was starting to get a little annoyed when I began dying to straight auto-attacks.

I did catch one just casting Stone III as I was literally on the brink of death after a tankbuster. I’m guessing the regular MT was experiencing similar issues with healing, since they died during Diabolos Hollow’s auto-crit attacks (Awareness, wherefore art thou). Unlike LotA and ST, you can’t just ignore tanks in Dun Scaith, healers. So please, heal them.

This happened to me in Susano. Actually happens to me more than it should. It's making me want to go back to PLD, honestly.

Just did an Amaurot run.
Group is a GNB, SAM, DNC with myself as WHM. I believe the DNC was new to the dungeon so I could forgive their mistakes on boss mechanics but they clearly didn't know how to play their class either, same with the SAM as the lack of much AoE from either was very noticeable throughout the run. 1-2 Standard step for the entire dungeon and I didn't seem much AoE from the SAM either.

We slosh thru the dungeon until the last boss. Now, I already acknowledged the DNC as new when they died ro the meteor during the 1st boss so they had an excuse but the SAM was what got me during this fight. Both he and the DNC decided to eat Apocalypse, TWICE. The 1st time they were both literally 2 feet from the safety platform and decide not to even bother getting on, resulting in me spamming cure 3 on them, which worked but rip my MP. 2nd time, I couldn't and they both ended up eating pavement. I rezzed them both and they finally go the memo to move for Apocalypse but between them eating head lazers and getting hit by AoEs, it was an absolute nightmare to heal them. Used all my oGCDs/lilies, and was pretty much at 1/4 MP by the time we finished the boss.

Tank was cool about it all, complimented me for carrying the 2 dead weights and we all left. He had some words for the DPS as well that weren't flattering but I felt better at least, knowing I wasn't the only one noticing their screw ups.

Why would you use cure 3 and not cure 2 followed up with either a lilly or a regen?

but yeah next time you get a group like that.. medica swiftcast medica II if they insist on staying in the bad rescue one to safety let the other die slowcast res so the other one you saved gets the point then switch off to the other if they dont.

More than likely he was reserving cure 2 and lilies for the tank and himself. I've yet to get into ShB (I've been grinding my dps classes up), though from the sounds of things the dps and the tank and healer were spread out or clustered on the other side of the room. Cure 3 might've made more sense, but it would've been wiser to pop regens, unless the two dps weren't that terribly bright.

I'm assuming due to the AOE nature of the spell, and that there were two of them standing in the bad. If the run was as bad as it sounds, there's a good chance there were no instant-cast spells available at the time.

We're on a Amaurot run. Group seems pretty competent and I'm keeping up with the heals.

Until the last leg when the DRK pulls deep. I don't like long hard pulls on these because of all the AE's - makes it harder for me to do my job and get extra dps out. In fact, it seems like more work than it's worth - kinda like that last leg of The Burn.

At any rate, I do my best to keep up, but it doesn't work out. He goes down, but I keep the DPS up. But I end up digging deep in my bag of trips to do so including eating the fairy to do so (long ass cooldown just spent there).

So what's the DRK do when he's back up and we've cleared the group. Pulls the same number of mobs again.

I don't have my big cooldown available for that - so we wipe.

Look, I don't care if that trick worked for you in a previous group. But if it doesn't work in the current group you're in, adjust and pull slower ffs. We wasted so much time on those two wipes when we could of been done and over with that run by just pulling one group less per pull.

I (PLD) and someone from my static (AST) got Shisui in leveling roulette today. We both noticed that I was losing HP fast, but with good CD management we were still able to do big pulls so we didn't think more of it.

During the trash pull after the second boss I noticed this:

Turns out I forgot to update my gear set after some trust dungeons this morning and had thrown away the old gear. The final group of trash and boss went far smoother after I reequipped everything.

Just had a Bardam Mettle where the tank wanted to go all princess mode because he tried to pull that giant Eagle with the next pack and dropped quickly, despite the healer going nuts and trying to keep him up. Queue up the insults and name calling mixed with lack of rolling for items, had to sneak in that lovely kick right after the DDR fight. People worry to much about waiting for a replacement tank, had a new one 5 seconds later. Really need to stop rewarding people for their nasty behavior.
