If you are a WHM without Swiftcast, you are holding back your team at endgame

Haha gosh people who refuse to level their cross-class are precious. Yoshida has literally said that content is designed with cross-class abilities in mind, you're simply not playing your class right.

If people aren't putting out 110% for hard content regardless of what other players are doing then your attitude sucks.

That means that your playstyle needs a whm with swiftcast/raise because you are not able to do anything without dieing all the time. Grats, blame the whm's.

I just finished watching the MrHappy Titan vid and noticed their dragoon took a bomb at one point. If one of you guys were healing that fight you would of spat the dummy and said they're too bad to heal, rather than reacting to it and pulling a very skilled team through for a win. Everyone makes mistakes so give yourself a margin for error.

Swiftcast is absolutely there for the unexpected situations where you can't afford to wait for a cast, raise is a bad example to cherry pick. More often it's used on more minor errors. You can save a wipe with swiftcast, but if you decide not to and instead assign blame then your attitude is a liability to groups.

Why just WHM? IMHO, if you are any DoM without Swiftcast, you are holding back yourself and your party.

It is quite clearly one of the universally most useful CC skills for Disciples of Magic, don't even try to find excuses for not having it. Level 26 THM is a drip in the bucket, go and get it now if you don't already.

Swiftcast is very useful and as a WHM I have it. However, if it was VITAL to our class then it would be one of our core skills to begin with and not a cross-class skill. If our having a cross skill is the difference in win/lose, then you have bigger problems.

No, you had one problem, which became a bigger problem because a potential safety net was not in place. Refer to my previous post not everyone is perfect. Also someone quoted this before but snipped out a part.

So no, it is not strictly required but it is balanced for it, so in other words you're not bringing everything you could to the table. I leveled all my cross-class abilities, so did everyone else in my static. How disrespectful is it to other people who put in the time to not do the same yourself, and then blame them for wipes? Good groups are about mutual trust and respect, the other players sometimes makes mistakes and trust the healers to have their back, while the healers trust that the other members do their best to avoid taking unnecessary damage, and know the limits of healing and the negative impact straining healers can have on a group.

If I was to order what was the biggest problem in a wipe, and this healer starts mouthing off about not having swiftcast because we should be too good for it, that healer and their attitude is certainly the biggest problem in the group. They essentially admitted that they are not doing the best job they could and are willing to pass blame to people who probably were trying their best.

Guess why people die? Because they stand in aoe or the healers weren't good enough to keep them up. And almost all fights (barring titan) allow enough (idk about coil though) for a dd or tank or even healer to stand in at least one aoe or even two and survive.... so yeah

I don't know anything about WHM but I assume the OP is correct.

Paying attention to scripts with blatant ranges given to you in red is too difficult so u should rez me asap cause I'm super important even tho I can't follow scripts. Signed bad/lazy DPS/OT

You should not be healing endgame with a WHM at all until you learn Swiftcast. If you don't know this ability, you are holding back your team. Does anybody else agree? Is Swiftcast a vitally important ability for a White Mage to have? What are your thoughts?

Your reasoning is pretty terrible. You forcing the WHM to cast Raise is the reason why you're wiping. Not the WHM's inability to cover your mistakes fast enough to stop the rest of your teammates from dying.

I do agree that it's too important an ability to not have endgame though.

Honestly if you *can't* raise asap then you're a bad/lazy healer/smn... if you want to go that route.

If in a bad group, Swiftcast Raise is great
If in a good group, Swiftcast aoe heals can be great

Either way if you are a healer without Swiftcast you need to get it

Swiftcast seems to be a good skill to have. Whm have presence of mind which increases spell speed, but has a very ling cool down (5min I think)

I am leveling a thm to 26 just to get it.

Swiftcast isn't absolutely necessary for endgame, however i don't see a reason NOT to get it other than laziness or an extreme lack of time. THM to 26 is stupid easy. ACN to 34 for e4e is a tad more annoying i must admit.

Well, of course it applies to SCH too. Swiftcast Eos/Selene, Swiftcast Resurrection, etc. Can you image re-casting your pet without swiftcast during fights like Twintania, T4 or Titan? lol.

I'd say for WHM it's great, but for SCH it's basically required. Losing your fairy for any length of time is a major hamstring on your healing.

done all game content except for t5 without swiftcast with no problem with the right groups of course, even for t5 wasnt vital. Today we killed t5 with my static, both healers took turns in dying so we resed each other, but silly mistakes happened and since we all mastered the fight even if we wiped and done the fight again we would still win at the end. Also resing is still possible without swiftcast done it in about every end game except t4, even helps to communicate with tank so they can put in cd if necessary, however still can be done if you know the pattern of bosses and know where a time in the fight you can cast raise.

I think it makes sense to get to level 50 before getting Swiftcast. However, I agree with the OP that you should have it for endgame stuff. I won't expect healers doing dungeons like WP to have Swiftcast but for AK and beyond, there's certainly no excuse.

All the unavoidable AOE damages has intervals and fixed patterns. Thus, you can just predict it and pre-cast heals, use damage mitigation skills, or ready emergency heals like Lustrate and Benediction for key members.

If Swiftcast is required, something already went wrong. Also, wasting Swiftcast on Raise or Ressurection is a complete waste since revival debuff is already affecting the raised person. Especially on hard fights, it is better to restart.

1000 characters, and so many points to make...

1) WHM should HAVE Swiftcast, for insta-raise but ALSO for instant Stoneskin/Medica I&II/Cure II&III. I'm looking at you, four airship crashing phase of Ultima's Bane while ten magitek bits are locking on to me, or Siren debuff with 1 second left.

2) Shit happens in a fight, and even people who are otherwise really good can make mistakes and die. However, DPS should NOT use a WHM not having Swiftcast as the reason a run failed -- you're the idiot who got hit.

3) Also, why the hell is it "WHM without Swiftcast"? Last I checked, at least SCH/SMN should be included too. Hell, why isn't SMN the FIRST choice for insta-rezzing here -- it's not like you CARE about mana, but as your healer, I HAVE TO CARE ABOUT MINE. Stop waving your damage meter epeen around, give up a single Ruin, and raise somebody for the group's (i.e. yours too) sake.

Good thing nothing ever goes wrong ever right? You can recover from deaths even on EX primals, I've seen it done but with that attitude you have eliminated any chance of it, and potentially been the real cause of a wipe. It's a quitter attitude and it isn't a good attitude to have. If there is something you could of done then by the love of god do it and be a better person than the dead people who aren't doing their job.

I love these "get good" people. Funny that so many server first Twintannia/primals feature a player being insta raised.

Oh and the world first video for Twintania... yeah those guys suck so much that two of them got raised.

Agreed, BG should of given up and called it a wipe. Those healers aren't playing right, they swiftcast raised. They should of instead given the others a lecture about dodging stuff.

Maybe something did go wrong but sometimes things do and swiftcast can mean the difference between a recovery and a restart.

While I won't pose the statement the way the OP did, I do have to point out the
great utility of a swiftcast raise. So what if some one dies, jsut swift cast raise and
theyre up, and you're free to go about your job. I even have it set on my SMN because
its just that dang useful.

It has other uses besides an "instant Resurrection." It helps when you need to instantly cast Stoneskin, Holy, Medica II, Protect, etc...during long battles, I found it's a must. I certainly don't want to be DPS'ing that primal by myself ><

lol at all the excuse's lazy people are making to not lvl thm to 26, you guys realize that in a good fate pt you can get 26 in a few hours on thm right? thm is probably the single easiest class to lvl on fate's due to their aoe's. sure you could survive without swiftcast, but why? is it really that hard to step outside your comfort zone for a few hours to make your character that much better?

at the end of the day, it doesnt matter who gets hit, why they get hit, or if they could have avoided it. you are a healer, its your job to fix people when they make mistakes, if you want to take some high horse attitude about who or what should be healed and how much time you should devote to healing them then im afraid you have chosen the wrong job.

a good healer understands that mistakes happens and prepares themselves to encounter them all. having swiftcast at the ready will not make you a better healer, knowing when to use it and how to save your pt's ass with it will


quick edit::: also, one more thing i'd like to add. having swiftcast is great for your PT, but, think of yourselves too. having swiftcast can also take a lot of stress off the healer, even in non-emergency situations swiftcast is an awesome tool to have. ive used to get my pets back into the fight quickly, or even just to buff fast at the start of the fight after a wipe so we can get back into the action quicker. swiftcast is just as much of an "oh sh** someone goofed" button as it is a "damn my life is just a little bit easier" button

You're absolutely right, if a smn has swiftcast, they should be the ones to raise (or even if they don't have it they should, unless a boss is really low or something needs to be dps'd down asap). But the thing is, not every run is going to have a smn. Every run is guaranteed to have a healer though.

Swiftcast is more useful for sch/smn than whm, for insta-cast on our pets which AI still stinks. However, all caster should have it at their disposal if not for a swift-cast raise but for other oh shit moments where an on demand insta cast aoe heal is needed. I use that quite often in Titan on jump. Bubble then swift cast succor. A swiftcast medica would be helpful so you can heal the party up and get into position still.
