Death is more punishing to the player now than it ever has been. It is only LESS punishing for the healers that used to have to try to do extra shielding due to lowered HP from weakness.
Dying now is a more significant main stat damage loss than it was in the past, so I would argue that it would make no difference. You don't WANT to die, obviously, but deaths happen even in the best of groups. Also, Titan EX was where if you fell off it was over, and THAT was the challenge. Notice how in Sophia onward falling off respawns your dead body on the platform. This represents a paradigm shift TOWARDS the value of recovery rather than "harsh punishment for mistakes" in my eyes.
Lore-wise a Raise skill would make sense on MNK (just like Lore-wise it would make sense on PLD) but ROLE-WISE, which is what I've been arguing about in ALL of these threads this entire time, it makes no sense for these two to have it, but it DOES make sense for BLM.
The problem is that the caster role is off-balance, and since groups take one caster (or they SHOULD be, if we could upheave the physical meta), it is brother against brother. And quite plainly, the odds are stacked against BLM heavily.
