There is an animation break. You wouldn't understand because you play an archer. Before you assume they are doing fine, ask them " hey how many times does your attack break animation and your attacks do not land.
It happens you guys are starting to sound like the people who claimed no lag existed in this game when doing titan.
deal with the cc effecs how dude 1 100 second cc removal if ur halers on getting crapped on and has time to dispel you? everyone has full gear and materia right now right? u play a caster u dont know about animation lockout i used to play pvp in another mmo and did quite well with an underpowered class. but you a run of the mill elitist who really does need to die in the real world in a horrible way
I did Wolf's Den on MNK, PLD, DRG and BRD, stop crying, learn to communicate with your teammate, dont tunnel vision. Oh wait, I have 3 meeles, and I am perfectly awware of animation lock. Everyone plays PvP in antoher MMO, you are not special. If you dont like Sleep and refuse to deal with it, dont play

I will say that as a monk I went 40-3 yesterday in PvP. Black mages give me no trouble at all. Every loss I had was to a team that had 1-2 summoners on it. I should also say the games I won were in SPITE of the animation lock, which needs to be fixed. As a melee, here are some steps you can take to win more games.
-Get 1 point in weapon throw, use it as soon as an enemy tries to sprint away.
-Get purify
-Get Fetter ward and know when to use it.
-Have a healer on VOIP that you can communicate with to tell when to Esuna you.
-As Monk, use Fists of Wind, not Fists of Fire(this is because fists of wind gives increased movement speed.)
-Use sprint and then invigorate at the proper times to keep up with the enemy.
-If you get enliven, you can do another sprint and use that to restore your TP.
In short, the PvP skills help melee greatly. Weapon throw, purify, fetter ward, and enliven.
Oh please I've partied with them and win games more than partying with a black mage. I may be using archer as main on forums but I have a dragoon at 50 as well. I know about attacks breaking but hey, I also know how to prevent that.
Some players are good, some are bad. The people having trouble are probably not that good to begin with. Nothing wrong with that, but atleast admit that you're actually not that good and live with it.
I saw another thread about people complaining summoners are terrible in pvp but my team's been destroyed by summoners plenty of times. They were just better player than us. End of story
Server character positional checks have literally nothing to do with skill. You can be ON TOP of someone and not hit them due to a system error that is beyond player control - no matter how good or bad they are. This is the cause for why most melee players may be frustrated and it does need to be fixed. That being said, I disagree with the idea that 'Melee Sucks'. WAR / PLD / MNK / DRG are potentially solid PvP choices.
Well, I just had to. I play with Japanese people (being on a Japanese server) almost 100% of the time and it's frustrating to see people sit through a whole duration of sleep...
That being said, I don't believe melee are truley gimped but some of the classes outside of Monk can use a bit of tweaking.
just tried PVP (granted DFing) and 2 things happened on my jobs..
SCH - i died pretty much instantly.. i was kiting, getting slowed stunned.. blah blah
WAR - everyone died but me..
its PVH (player vs healer) not PVP and really wasnt fun.. as i said to a friend its not even a sore loser attitude i pvp'd on Dark Souls and losses just taught me how to play better and i enjoyed it.. this is just ridiculous
Melees in general are fine, the pvp is based on teams so if you get too much sleep or debuffs you can ask your healer to remove them.
The only real issue I find seriously annoying as a melee is that our skills get canceled if our opponent is jumping, its ridiculous that you can't even hit someone if he is jumping in circles around his place, they not even have to sprint or do anything, just spam jump to cancel 9/10 of your hits. Now every caster uses this tactic to get rid of melees and we are powerless against it. If they fix this I won't find any other problem as a melee in PvP, and if they don't then I probably wont go to pvp.
I've run about 71 matches, won about 52 of them all on SMN, and I'm having fun, but I can see why melee may not be. Healers: you guys are brave yo. I've met some awesome Scholars and White Mages holding their shiz together the entire match. I'm less tired of the tactics and more tired of the map. Even if they had two other maps, if it was a random assignment to one each time it'd keep things a little fresher. Hopefully in the future they'll add more.
As for dealing with sleep, #1 ability you need to get first is Purify. It'll get you out of one sleep quick enough. After that, you'll at least have resistance built for it to only last 15 seconds. And learn any heavy/bind abilities you can. SMN can wreck parties with Miasma/MiasmaII because of the weight/healing reducting, but plenty of good players have caught up to me and blasted me down in a matter of seconds because of smart use of that.
I have done 70 something matches and to all of you saying things are fine as it is.. don't.
A caster team is just ridiculous(and i have won against them more than once) cc everywhere, sleep in particular is insane, 30s cd you use purify - 15s ok you wait it out,
come some other 30s or so after that -> sleep 30s again, this is balanced to you, really?!
All the other ccs are just fine right now, and don't start with materia and stuff because pvp shouldn't be balanced just at the top.
Asides from that the whole mechanic of it needs work right now its just cc cc cc kite kite kite kite cc cc cc kite kite kite(you get the idea). Probably remove sprint and let casters not get interrupted on every single attack, more like 50% or 70% chance of cast going through.
I'm having fun, but i can understand that some people aren't.
