So believe me, I've participated in my fair share of content. Maybe even, a wider selection of content than you?

Oh, I never claimed to be high and mighyt, nor do i pretend to be a badass that works at wall street. I don't need your respect either, you obviously don't believe what I have to say despite not having a reason to call me a liar. You say my credibility has been lost because I ventured to speculate that I was the best geared gatherer on my server for a few weeks. Well, it was my honest opinion based on me examining every other gatherer I came across while farming unspoiled resource nodes for hours on end. Believe me, I got a good look at the majority of the early gatherers and I rarely saw one with as much materia in their gear as I had. But look at you, so quick to discredit me and call me a liar because I shared an honest opinion.

So you think I'm a troll because my opinion isn't "official". Okay, well to me, someone looking for an "official source" to justify an opinionated claim over a video game is just as much of a troll as trying to defend the semantic challenge of earning gil on that same game. Look man, all I'm saying is: I've earned XX amount of gil since Early Access, and you could have to. If I have enough to buy a house, then you could have to. Everything else is meaningless. While theoretically correct, trying to imply that everyone could've done so, especially at the same time, could not be more wrong. Everyone on the server could not have made as much money as the top earners, that would require people making more money than exists in the entire system.

It's kinda like the GOP from awhile back saying that if only people would get off their lazy asses, they can all join the 1%, which for anyone who's not mathematically challenged, knows is impossible.

Exactly...and I'm not spending gil...nor is anyone I know in game spending gil on this anytime soon. Why? BECAUSE WE KNOW THE PRICES ARE ABSURDLY HIGH AND NOT WORTH IT. As do you. Because the people SE is trying to drain are sitting on their gil piles looking down on the peasants below laughing...and No Gil is being spent/leaving the economy. So why doesn't SE cut the crap, and START the housing at prices that WILL entice folks like you, me and everyone else to WANT to buy them. All the sudden gil WOULD be spent, and gone...but no, they'd rather tick everyone off, force most people out of either choice,principle or poverty to wait at least another 3 months before they consider investing in this content.

So yeah, if the plan was 'have no one buy a house until at least March 2014...SE's plan worked... if it was as you suggest, to get rid of 'excess server gil' and then allow everyone else their turn...well no one's buying.

I am far from the top earner on my server. Let me tell you about my titan merc ls composed of new players on a legacy server, the leader earned over 20 mil gil just from titan sales in less than a month, and yes, I am telling you - you could have done it too.


Now, to make a more appropriate example: I am not bill gates, which would be considered a top earner on my server right? The richest guy i know has 26 stacks of tier IV CRACKED materia. Think about that. 2600 x 250K = 650,000,000 asset value. I also knew someone in 1.0 who had capped gil and claims to have earned it all back since 2.0 gil devaluation. I know people that bought loads of cracked tier IV materia in 1.0 to poor their gil into before the devaluation that made out like bandits due to the difficulty in obtaining tier IV materia in 2.0 as compared to 1.0

Lets get things straight. These are the Bill Gates' of Eorzea. My wealth pales in comparison to theirs. There is no way you or I could dream to acquire as much as they have. However, I am telling you, that anyone and everyone could have figured out how to make gil since EA without having to spend an absurd amount of time playing. I watched my ls do it, then I watched other titan merc groups form together until the price dropped from 1mil per kil (at first) all the way down to 150K (last night).

You are right about one thing though, it would have been theoretically impossible for everyone to make as much money as the top earners. However, I never said I was a top earner, now did I? you appear to have misinterpreted what I was saying. Also, for your information, I made money by selling food to those top earners whom had so much gil to throw around that they didn't mind buying my overpriced goods because it saved them time.

You can't RMT your AF gear, u can't RMT gear above i70, there is no +10 enchant you need to do, there is no super buff you can purchase, there is no super awesome skills you can only access with paying $, but somehow it need you to do some farming which isn't every other MMO require players to do? You're looking at it solely at the micro-level, which does not translate to the macro level. Think about it for a second, who were buying your titan runs? they're not NPCs. If everyone was selling titan runs - who is going to be your customer?

Sorry, it's one thing if there are enough demand to support that valuation, while that may be the maximum theoretical worth of his asset, in practice you'd be hard pressed to liquidate those assets at that value.

What you don't seem to get is that saying everyone could've had the chance to make money doesn't mean anything here - because in reality it would not be possible for everyone, or even anything approaching a majority to do so, simply because the primary method of wealth accumulation in this game is through gil transfers, not generation.

The problem arises when you introduce a content that's been hyped and touted as a key feature for the entire player base, yet targets the access to said content directly at the extreme minority. Yes, the price will decay - but it will take up to 90 days, and guess what, those who are mega rich will buy it - resetting the timer for everyone else. Really, by the time the masses can realistically access this content, chances are the next patch(or beyond) will already be out.

THIS is the problem, imagine if SE added Coil turn 6-10, but put a gil requirement on it that will prevent the vast majority of the player base from accessing it for 3 months. Because this is what they've effectively done here.

And to call this "supply and demand" is a slap to the face to games like Eve that actually have real supply and demand. You cannot label it as such when the supply and pricing is directly controlled by SE.

Oh yes u can. hint hint. RMT gil traders. Plus i was talking about gil farming. I dont pay a p2p game to farm money.

This means nothing to me I play mmos to kill dragons not to play in a doll house, I agree with the non legacy prices they seem very obtainable. Legacy prices though... are insane I feel so bad for all my friends on hyperion that needs to addressed.

Nice, comparing the casual objective(housing) with the hardcore endgame objective of a game where gear dependency was even higher... I can see all the FCs now pooling rmt like amounts of cash together just to sit in a house where you do nothing.

Over your head again. The method is irrelevant, the important part is that the transactions you're accumulating your wealth on is via money transfer from other players. I merely used titan runs as an example, it can also be selling gear or materia or friggin whoring yourself out with emotes, it doesn't matter.

What you seem to have trouble with is understanding that it has little to do with how people accumulate their wealth, this is actually more so with the presence of RMT bots - they end up picking up some of the initial gil generation.

Again, ask yourself, how did you accumulate your wealth? is it through transfer or generation? and if you had went with generation, how much wealth will you have now?

At least you admit that this point depends on your server, somewhat invalidating the point altogether. That being said, no one ever said housing was going to be "free", actually yoship has intentionall avoided talking about the price of housing for months now so it's no real surprise that they are absurdly high. YOU might not want to purchase a house for 3 months, but YOU aren't EVERYONE, and SOME people might actually have enough gil to light on fire. If they so choose to purchase a house at these absurdly high prices right off the bat, they have the right to, and believe me they will.

Speak for yourself. I have made enough gil and more since Early Access through various means (selling titan runs, gathering, crafting, farming) to purchase a first class, small plot of land on a legacy server. My progress has not been negated as you would have it, and here I am saying I am not even close to rich on my server. Remember, you can make 2-300K just off of quests lvling your first lvl 50 on a new account. Making an example out of a FC that has only saved 100K since Early access towards a house which we all new would be expensive is just a poor example of a FC's failure.

You want to know how much of my money was earned through gil generating activities...? Well, I'm not going to get into the details for obvious reasons but I will make an allusion to 1.0. The reason I entered 2.0 with a high level goldsmith was because in 1.0 there were various means of generating gil, including, but not limited to, npcing electrum accessories (made with AH bought materials) at a profit. I knew players that had been doing this for two years on multiple accounts. They capped out gil on their mains and retainers, by generating it. What you fail to understand is that these means have not disappeared from the game. Just because you haven't figured out how to generate large sums of gil over long periods of time does not mean others haven't.

Also, I might add your response was a classic. You attempt to bolster your arguments by focussing on all of the flaws in my own. However, when I make a valid point it is completely omitted from your response. I don't expect you to acknowledge my analogy between a coil group requirement of 8 players to participate in the content and a housing gil requirement of 4 mil (cheapest server) to participate. You are just deluding yourself in the long term if you think you will have any effect on the outcome of this patch.

Why push out content that no one will use in the near term? Why waste dev time on something that wont be used, when they could have just released some detailed notes/info on the pricing structure and let it out 9 months from now.

Guess I am backwards then. Halfway at least. I DO thank a local business if they give me good customer service. If they don;t I never go there again. Wal Mart I will never go to again - they do not get my thanks but they also do not get my business because they sell nothing worthy of buying as far as quality goes, and their staff just suck.

So as for gaming for me - no different. I buy a product - if I get something I want, AND they treat me right, I thank them for it while they thank me back for me patronage. Yeah, yeah, sure, they are automated emails, but at least they thanked me when I subscribed for my patronage, so if I see something about the product I like I thank them in return. I just don;t use the forums to do it. I send them an email. And usually they respond with a "Thank you, also" note.

OH! I am also that guy that rates people I buy from on Ebay. That offends you (and do not try to say it doesn't after your post LOL). I am sorry to see that it offends you, but ah well. I have no problem thanking or rating someone good if I get good service.

No, this is not defending the OP in any way. I still think the way he "thanked" the devs was very trolling, with the instigating remarks about the "whiners" and such. It was very condescending to his supposed peers. But you are no better in saying such a silly remark like that.

I own my own business IRL - yes I thank them for their business - even the grouchy ones - and even the unappreciative ones like you - but damn it feels so good to get thanked for my product as well and told that someone likes my service. It's motivating. Devs are people, too. So are store owners. You will never see that, of course, which is why this post is aimed at the general readers and not necessarily you directly. However for those readers out there that DO have an open mind - yes it is good to give a pat on the back sometimes if you get something you like.

Just . . . don't do it in a condescending, trolling way like the OP of this thread did. If someone walked into my store and said "Thank you for not listening to that idiot who just walked out who said that you need more stuff in the windows" . . . uh, sure, thanks for the thanks, but that guy you just hated on is also my customer, and I'll listen to him just as much as I listen to you as long as he is spending money and helping put a roof over my head by his business. I may not PERSONALLY like some of the suggestions I get, but if I notice a trend in what people want, even if it makes others less happy, I'll go with the majority and make it happen. It's business. And then if those customers say "Thank you" for listening to them, AWESOME!!!! That feels SO good to hear. As long as they say "Thank you" and leave it at that without bashing the other half of my customer base.

What on earth are you talking about? How long did it take for people to finally down turn 5? I didn't see a lot of rage posts about making coil easier. People are pretty satisfied with justified challenging content and in fact want more fights like coil/HM titan. Its idiotic to turn content that mostly the casual folks are looking forward to and turn it into "hardcore" content instead of releasing more progressive raiding content for that purpose.

Nothing about this is a fair challenge to 2.0+ FCs on legacy servers. 20 Million Gil for an FC on Balmung for the smallest plot house isn't fair in the slightest. But you don't care at all, because this is a troll thread.

Yep grinding out gil for three months because Yoshi priced it so high is a super challenge. its not like its only priced that high because Square can't buy servers that could actually support more than 15 houses
