Post Your Healing Horror Stories.

Get into castrum, spirit bonding i49 gear on scholar. There's a new person bonus (whm and two dps), no blm. I watch in horror and amazement as the whm precasts medica 2 just as the tank runs off, of course to do a fairly complete first pull.. Then watch as the red aggro lines keep flowing back to the whm. It was both beautiful and terrible.

I somehow kept the whm up (yay for lustrate) and no one died, even though it took way too long to clear that mob. I mentioned to the whm to maybe avoid medica 2/regen on pull for the rest of the run and she agreed with me.. Heh.

...and if the archer could cast Protect, why didn't they just do so when they noticed it wasn't coming from you in the first few seconds? O.o Without arguing? Grats on the card though =D

(I'd probably just have said "sorry, don't have access to it right now; anyone else have it?" but that's me. I also tend to do low roulette when levelling as the class (only have archer and lancer left now o.o), just so I can cast protect if I end up with a scholar in one of the first couple of dungeons, before you can have two crossclass skills.)

Oh yeah, I really dislike those 'don't move/attack during this' effects. Or those periods of 'boss reflects all damage right now'. Not for the effect, but because there's always that dps who kills themself by continuing to attack -_- Honestly, those people in ST who go back to attacking Glossy Lalaboys right after their mechabot is down but the other two are still up... (Not that said boss ever seems to get to that part these days, but... XD)

Well, at least she agreed with you ^^; I've been in dungeons where the healer kept casting regen or medica 2, and when I pointed out that it's not the smartest move, since that'll draw insta-aggro, they've gone "what? why? D:" *headdesk* And I've had to explain that healing draws aggro just the same as damage does, except on ALL mobs involved in combat.

Yeah the cross class swap was what I was thinking of. If they decide to charge off that's tgeir decision and they must live with the consequences xD no I've never used SCH, I tried to SMN on ps4, could barly control the pet efficiently, decided for the good of mankind that I just stick to WHM healing :P

Yeah. But all the CTs have an aspect where DPS actually need to watch their DPS (Bone Dragon, Glasya [when robos spawn], and Five Headed Dragon). To be fair, DPS should KNOW how to hold their DPS and not rely on their healers to carry them through everything, its a bad habit and it'll be the death of them if they ever attempt the later Coils.

5 seconds of nobody doing any DPS. That's a lot of damage that doesn't get thrown out much more than i can pump out on the boss in that amount of time. Doing DPS apart from adds is kind of pointless. Some classes have a skill they can use to avoid the debuff but they are too dumb to throw it out half the time. If the MT needs more healing than some regens thrown on them for that boss they are probably doing it wrong. If you have problems using 2k MP out of 5k or more at that level then you are probably doing it wrong. I'm hardly starving for mana so I'll buy my party more DPS time throw on SoS and gain most of my MP back. Anything else just feels like a lazy heal bot who just wants to afk half the fight because they have nothing to do. This is why i think a lot of Healers in WoD are a joke they just stand around picking their nose until they can spam heals. Lazy.

This is one I've been seeing more often lately, but this was a particularly egregious example. Amdapour keep HM, first boss. Not a single person hides behind the statues to avoid the damage/debuff LoS attack. I do what I can with Adlo and stoneskin to try and keep them alive, but once there's six stacks I can't keep up. End of the fight, everyone but me has the little 'just raised' debuff, all the statues are still pristine. Survivable, barely, but still so frustrating.

My point still stands. There is no point in wasting 2,128 MP and 22.08 seconds when the whole thing can be handled by a skill that costs 452 MP and takes 2.76 seconds to cast. I was simply stating that it was not necessary for that much overkill. As for doing it wrong? I have yet to see anyone in any of my parties die to heatwave.

I don't really understand your logic in being so elitist over WoD. Not everyone who plays WoD is someone who does t10-13 ever week, not everyone in WoD goes in on a class they main, and not everyone who goes into WoD has cleared it before. True, it is not a hard fight, but nothing in this game is hard once you're used to it. If they're not in your party, and the raid isn't wiping, then it shouldn't really effect you too much what they're doing, chill out.

I'm the type that would rather heal than dps, but especially as a SCH...a lot of these low level dungeons are extremely boring and my fairy can heal all of it by herself...So I normally go CS instead of protect and help with dps. Exactly, and thanks!!! I probably could have switched to Protect, but by the time it would be ready, the tank would have already pulled to the Couerl boss (maybe not that far, but still) and they would have forgotten about it. I just feel like...Protect, no Protect...it wouldn't have made a difference...I can handle it either way, why make a big deal about it?

I had just never seen anyone do a speed run of Sastasha normal. I guess its not that uncommon? Lol. Like I said, I just came back from a long break.

Yep is has become a common occurence now. Sadly people dont seem to understand that raid level WAR use crafted i110 accessories to get both STR and VIT, not just STR :( leads to lots of very quishy DF tanks that have STR only accessories, like the PLD i once got in DF with i90 left side and STR accessories right side, their health pool was abysmally low and their defence practically non-existant O.o.

I DFed Urths for a guildie who needed the clear, tanks had 6-7k hp max, Sangetall laughed at their pitiful excuse for life.

Ran Labyrinth of the Ancients last night for 2 new people in FC. I'm not sure if one of the other groups was trolling or just really bad.... Four skeletons made it to Bone Dragon (they stacked 3 so they all ran together), they didn't bother killing the Allagan Napalm (bomb actually blew up .. never seen that before), didn't deactivate the towers on KB, didn't get to their pad on Phlegethon... We would have wiped on Bone Dragon and KB if the rest of us weren't 110+.
We got to tell our new FC people that they were seeing how to NOT do it.

And of course the obligatory WOD run.. the healers in one of the other parties were dead constantly. They must have missed every mechanic. I was in as summoner and spent my whole time rezzing them while our healers kept everyone else alive.

Well to be fair there are a lot of instant kill mechanics in WoD, and literally noone ever tells anyone about them, or how they work.
I guess everyone with their dozens of runs has forgotten what it was like for them their first few times.

Yes but 2 of the tanks were new so there was alliance-wide discussion of the mechanics for the sake of the tanks at least. I always give an overview of the mechanics if someone asks. One of the healers I had also seen in previous runs.

Last night Stone Vigil normal. I'm still new to that place. But even so. Level 41 tank. Undergeared. Decides to pull a whole room, runs out of sight all the time. Led to a few wipes because Eos and my own heals didn't land because he went out of sight again *sigh*. Say something about it, and the only answer I got was Protect?

As if Protect, Stoneskin and Adloquium will save you. Which they didn't....

And if he didn't have to run around corners it was an Embrace/Physick spam just trying to keep him up. His health bar went up and down like crazy. Pretty sure it would have left my Whitemage out of mana. My Scholar came close once.

I wasn't healing (thank god) but my FC leader was. We went into WoD, wiped on the first trash pack, almost wiped on the first boss, nearly wiped on the 2nd trash pack, wiped on the 2nd boss, disbanded.

I was however attempting to play with 0.02 MBPS up/down and 900 ping because my ISP decided to kill all their hamsters or something. My game was actually registering events that had happened a whole 5-10 minutes behind everyone else.

I remember her screaming, "Discordance is going to cast! No one is killing the heads! It's nearly dead too!" And I said, "Well, on my screen the boss is still at 98% HP, but I'm gonna throw out some Fire II's and pretend I'm helping."

And naturally the raid blamed the healers, and I know she was working her butt off 'cause our other healer and DRG died a lot.

75 minutes of World of Darkness. Probably 75+ casts of Raise.

Tanks fought for hate on Boss #1
Someone pulled boss with Foe's on Boss #2, tank kinda tanked it.... right there
Boss #3 actually went kinda okay
Two wipes on Boss #4 before people realized how to stop giving Cloud stacks during the Dark Cloud/Storm phase.

Fun fun for the whole family. And all I was there for was to try to get the Healing Belt on Boss #2~

Got a short one: I decided to do a high level roulette for the heck of it, got Stone Vigil HM.

Tank takes off and pulls the first two groups, the dragonflies, and the wyvern. I should have just healed through it, knowing that the combination can do a lot of damage on a i110 synced group, but I tried to sneak in a holy out of habit. Tank drops before the holy even goes off. Bard asks me what the matter is, I say that the tank went down like a wet paper bag and that I would play defensively. To be fair, I should have left the "wet paper bag" bit out of it. I think the group took offense.

If they had forgiven me and left it alone, it would have been fine. But then the warrior has the nerve to point out that they are item level 127 and that I should be able to keep them up. That set me off. No, you're not i127. In Stone Vigil HM, you're ilvl 110. I admit I made a lapse in judgment, but the attitude combined with my complete lack of any need for the place compelled me to take off.

Also WAR that dont us defensive cooldowns are so very very very squishy, so that may have also been a problem. Soooo many times do i get WAR who constantly use wrath stacks on steel cyclone all the time instead of Inner Beast.......

I have a feeling this might have been a factor as well, but I didn't include it in the post because I wasn't actually watching his cooldowns at the time where he spontaneously collapsed. I would bet that it was almost certainly true with how reckless he was being, though.

To be fair, the first full pull in SV HM simply deals too much damage on the (synched) tank that you will probably have no time for DPSing as a healer, unless it's a Paladin and he uses HG right away. The Wyvern is not stunnable and will frequently drop the tank's health by a large margin using his deadly drive.

But just because so much can go wrong in the very first pull when running with PUGs, I prefer splitting the pull over the risk of wiping.

Agreed. Remembering past clears, I can recall that the wyvern usually forces me to pay more attention to healing because of that drive, even when the pulls aren't massive. If this particular pull happens again, I won't even bother trying to holy unless I see that HG.

Unfort... I was an accidental horror for our two SCHs in Ultima HM. Went in as bard - we have several new people, so I was doing a load of explaining of the diff parts. Se Garuda, run to her back; see blue whirlwind, go center - it turns brown, go to outside; AoEs appear inside, next will be outside (IE, expect runnign in and out), the tethered orbs explanation and running into them with more than one person, yadda yadda. One of the new people asks, "So we run into the orbs solo?", I correct that, go to add more info and........ loads of screens pop up in my face and off I go, completely blind. All I see is a small portion in the corner of my screen not filled with windows become filled with Ultima.

I didn't hit enter when I started typing and pulled -______- *Epic. facepalm.*

Was in CT. Half the raid hid behind one comet but just as meteor landed the comet died and basically all but one healer wiped. Smart ass tank with no eye balls said in alliance chat 'why is there no heals I died'. There's a reason why healers hate people sometimes.

LOL! Oh god, the days of LotA. I remember when this happened weekly. Watched one whole alliance drop dead because they all hid behind the same rock. Behemoth is such a jerk, lol.

Finally conceded defeat to the DPS queues and swapped back to SCH to try for another Zodiac item drop for my BLM's relic.

I get Dzemael Darkhold, fine. The tank is happy that I'm a SCH because he assumes I will help DPS (and I will), since the last few healers he's had have been WHMs who threw out Regens and stood around, and he's in a hurry to get his own Zodiac item. Ok, off to a friendly start, at least.

First problem is the BLM who casts F3/B3/F3/B3 and automatically attempts to sleep any mob not currently being targeted by a player. /votedismiss. Ok, fixed.

By the mid-point of the dungeon, it becomes clear that this tank somehow hasn't learned how to pull mobs properly in DD and manages to kill us all by not only facepulling the entire ledge full of nixes, hyppos, and revenants, but by darting around corners unnecessarily, causing my casts to break. When I adjust to bring him back into view, he flies back out of his hidey-hole, dragging every AoE-spamming mob into my face, forcing me to disengage again. In the end he can't keep aggro on them all, so we die slowly but surely in the chaos.

In the aftermath I ask him not to break my line of sight and to more or less choose a destination when pulling since we could have survived otherwise, but he responds with a defensive "whatever man". I drop it, let's get this over with.

The last bit was fairly smooth once I'd learned to expect him to pull and move about more or less at random and was ready to account for it. No comms for my long-suffering ordeal, but Horn of the Beast fell into my inventory as I left the dungeon. Naturally it was RNG, but I can imagine that it was a karmic reward.

Amdapor Keep HM begins.

As if time is mercilessly against him, our brave and noble tank decides to speed off faster than a Loony Tunes character at the very moment the duty initiates. He doesn't even bother to wait for buffs or to exchange even the most basic of customary pleasantries. Excellent, I think to myself, it's one of those people. Aren't they fun?

Once the ochu at the beginning is slain, our hero decides that something as trivial as his HP still being at 50-60% and the SCH's still unfinished Adlo spell won't stop him from doing a rapid stack pull of mobs all the way up to the first set of vines. Deeps and I frantically chase after him, like hunters pursuing a succulent game. Our hero decides a grand strategy would be to run past the vines and aggro a few guys on the other side as well. I quickly pop Rouse for Eos and prepare to go crazy with some healing, but the monsters decide to rip him to shreds there and then.

Not deterred from his embarrassing mauling, Sir Galahad revives at the start and bravely lunges head first into the mob again. This time, we actually successfully emerge from it, somewhat battered, but alive. He makes a snarky comment about how "healing isn't that hard", which as a statement isn't too untrue, providing you're in a party without members who decide that a kamikaze strategy can't possibly go wrong. But hey, let us not engage in needless hostilities, I think to myself. We're at the first boss. This dungeon isn't too hard. Let's chalk this up as a minor little incident and carry on. No need for the fracas.

First boss goes by without a hitch.

Next pull (there's a Foxglove and a Demonic Rose in the room). Sir Galahad nobly Leeroy Jenkins his way across the room, once again before I can properly buff him up. He takes everyone far up front, leaving the other three of us to madly sprint after him again. This time, his HP tanks faster than the Greek economy - alarmingly so. Ninja frantically uses Doton on the mob as the Bard does her thing. I'm clenching my butt trying to top off Leeroy's health as much as possible, but it's still dropping like hell even after a series of Physicks, Adlos, Embrace, some Lustrates, Whispering Dawns, an Eye for an Eye, and a Rouse.

It turns out much of his left-side armour has decided to drop to 0% after Anchag. All he has to replace it are some i45-49 stuff he is hoping to Spiritbond. Oh dear God. But at least our hero is no longer Leeroy Jenkins-ing as much as he was.

Second boss (Bogeyman) takes advantage of Sir Leeroy by having the Bloodmoon Sacrifices happily eat his face in, as his squishiness once again quickly outpaces by ability to keep up the healing. But miraculously, we get through! Quite why the Deeps and I are entertaining the idea of carrying on with Mr. Undergeared remains a mystery even to me. I suppose it was because, well, we're near the end. If we can clear the Demon Walls section, we get to Ferdiad.

Ah, Ferdiad. A beautiful comedy of errors ensues.

Ninja is constantly being hit by Ferdiad's scythe swings. So as I intermittently turn to pop him some heals, Leeroy is being quickly annihilated. A wipe happens and he accuses me of not doing enough healing. I had emptied a can of Aetherflow stacks on our hero just for Lustrate in the space of less than a minute! The next attempt, Ninja and I are encased in goop, leaving him and the Bard to get us out in time to kill the Troubadour add. We miserably fail and wipe again.

Leeroy decides to angrily quit, as does the Ninja. I am left with the Bard. We shrug and abandon the duty. Good grief.

This was me when I experienced my very first speedrun, and honestly I still do that now even with better gear ahahaha!

Now this isn't too much of a horror story, but I can say I was definitely not living up to my role as a healer. It happened a while ago, but I queued for hard roulette and got Copperbell Mines. I was already lagging before I even got in, and I told my party so. Tank says it will be a speedrun and pulls everything until we reach an obstruction. Everyone was great on focusing the obstructions and the mobs weren't hitting too hard, but at times, I would lag so badly that my heals wouldn't go through. I think we died once, but the tank was really nice and asked if I was ok. I said I could manage and the tank said he'd manage his cds to help me (which I'm convinced he was already doing). We didn't die on any bosses, but that whole run was a mess for me!

Lag is a killer for Healing especially when it eats your heal >.<. I've had times where I get in the dungeon and the lag is ridiculous to the point every 2 seconds everyone freezes then a few seconds later they unfreeze and zoom away. At those times I just say "I'm sorry I can't heal for you with this lag" and leave there is a point where I can't do my job properly and it's not fair on others.

Had a Shiva HM fight go on for so long that I was able to Healer LB3 to save the party.

After the Diamond Storm, people started to drop due to getting frozen by ice wall then getting hit by Shiva plume stacks, eventually came down to two tanks, healer, and DRG. We build up to two bars of LB but then the DRG dies due to frozen + stacked plumes, and then the MT dies because Shiva had 4 stacks of damage and MT had 4 stacks of vulnerability and I was pretty much running on fumes at that point.

New MT and myself manage to build up 3/4 of the final bar before I was able to raise the dead SCH who then begins to raise the other dead tank. New MT dies due to just too many stacks and I'm running on fumes. I end up tanking Shiva for a bit as the old MT is healed up but 'vokes at a moment where I had to Cure II myself so he couldn't get hate off me and my Shroud's on CD. So, I die, we get LB3 ding in the middle of the SCH Resurrecting me. Run to middle, pop LB3, smash Shiva in the face.

My face is very sore after that little bit.

A week ago I played Dzemael Darkhold with a tank
The tank HP is only like +300HP than me,
His accessories was all DPS accs lo
He was overconfident trying to do speedrun by stacking a lot of mob he couldn't even handle, impossible to heal i tell you

didn't count how many wipe, mostly wipe during the trash mobs phase

And then the Tank tells you what a trashy Healer you are because you can't desperately chain heal them while they get torn apart like paper >.>

it was dead hour on my data center and the queue wont move on and stay 0 tank 1 healer 2 dps for a while. So I guess that guy can't bear any longer and take the role http://i.imgur.com/jMmUhUe.gif

Had what I think was a i120 NIN who was pretty good, and a i105 BLM in-party, and was doing just okay in Satasha HM. BLM Rotation could definitely be better. I kept seeing F1s to build up to Astral Fire instead of F3, but the flares came out when needed on big adds so okay. I don't speak up about rotations unless it's that bad in DF. Although he kept attacking adds only during Captain's shooting rampage though. So we get through it.

WAR gives heads-up he's going for that last big pull before the final boss. Very competent tank, no issues with any pulls before then. So while I'm chain-healing with DS up, the tank is using the "turn-over the keyboard and smash" of cool downs as-expected so I'm able Swift Holy. But the big HP drain doesn't stop and during the cast I'm jamming the Benediction button so it will hit still in-stance. Yet, these mobs are still not dying and MP is getting shot through the river. What do we see: B3/B1/B3/B1. Everyone else is typing where is the flare? WTH. Said he wasn't paying attention. I don't know if he had a convert mishap or what.

Stone Vigil. With my leveling Whitemage, 2 FC DPSes and a random tank. Our FC Ninja mentions that the tank is in his DPS stance and asks the tank to switch to Shield Oath. Which he does not respond to. We do get to the first boss. We do get him killed with me out of mana for having to chaincast Cure 2 basically continuously trying to keep the tank up. Next thing he does he races off to the next group of mobs with me still low on mana, but thank God Shroud of Saints gets off CD at that moment. And we get that group killed.

We have asked repeatedly to the tank to switch to Shield Oath. Now we get an answer "Nah, don't need it Braw. We managed fine so far!!" So I replied with yeah we managed with me Cure 2 spamming your behind. Ninja threatens to kick the tank if he doesn't change stance. Tank goes lol, lol, lol. Pulls next group and leaves halfway through. Which has us wiping...

We get a new tank. This time one who does use Shield Oath and with tank nr. 2 it was smooth sailing till the end.
