Are you telling me a game with housing, card games, cat girl avatars, dress up, an emphasis on story, and sometimes boss fights attract a more feminine playerbase? I see. To be fair, most games now a days tend to attract that crowd for better or worse. I'm so happy I have a backlog of games to burn through before I have to really start thinking about playing most modern games. Elden Ring is pretty good though.
After 30+ years of predominantly masc centric game design in just about everything, yeah its a good thing.
People tend to conflate the idea of femininity with being passive and masculinity with being aggressive and those are stereotypes I don't agree with at all. Nor are they true in the real world. Some if not most of the weakest people I've met have been men. Some of the strongest have been women. I think most people playing these games are more drawn to what they want to be rather than who they are.
What a low quality bait thread.
i take my estrogen before i hell's egress into the wall every reset night
Hmm, depends on who you ask, I do think a lot of the animations tend to fall between the feminine or anime pretty boy range, like half of midlander's /cpose or BLM /cpose for instance. I do wish the game had more of a compromise between extra macho and skinny anime guy however, the choices available for men so far are malnourished twink or body builder.
I know this is most likely a troll thread but I do find people's perspective in this regard interesting; Cultural norms are different from place to place, I wouldn't say FFXIV is exceptionally "feminine" by japanese game standards and things that we would consider feminine traits aren't necessarily read that way in Japan.
Likewise there are western cultural norms for men that the Japanese read as being hypermasculine and therefore associated with homosexual men.
It all depends on perspective and personally I see FFXIV's appeal to women and the LGBT community as a net postive for the environment of the game and it's long term health and longevity.
I don't know. I was at a speed dating event last night and everyone I talked to was a guy XD. Here I was hoping to find someone and see how things went
Serious answer: I think FFXIV is just one of those games that appeals to both men and women. Possibly for different reasons. When I used to raid, I was often the sole female, but in a roleplay community I'm in the majority are overwhelmingly female, even though the characters are 50/50.
Yes! Give these poor dudes some eyebrows PLEASE!
I‘m also hoping for some handsome face options added for them with a future character creation update.
Imagine highlanders with face options akin to snow‘s or sonon‘s - they‘d be more popular in an instant if you ask me.
Bara is more of a Western appealing power fantasy/style and not that popular in the east outside of a fringe population. Male Viera are also well... easier to glam than Male Miqo while still giving the same "pretty boy" look, which is much more popular in the East than the West. Male Viera are also easier to look feminine than male Miqote, imo.
Fellas, is it gay to play critically-acclaimed Final Fantasy XIV?
I’m bi and want to wrap tails with both G’raha Tia and Runar.

Lost Ark PR managers are getting on another level I tell you
I wish that absolutely none of the clothing in this game was designed to be gender-specific in the first place. Anything that gets introduced should be designed for all gender options or none at all. Any clothes in society can be worn by someone of any gender, and that shouldn’t be treated as a bad thing or systemically perpetuated by behind-the-times design decisions for a fantasy video game.
ffxiv makes you submissive and breed-able
I think its more or less a lot of us Millennials are getting older, and we're not as aggressive like we were back in the olden MMO days.
Also the Zoomers are pretty chill.
IMO, of course.
there's nothing more manly than two dudes making love, if you think about it
Actually his Twitter post said that he named all his retainers after Latin words, which is true. The word “name” in question means black. But most people on the internet nowadays just look for things to take them out of context and go on a leftist crusade, not because they really care but because they think they can raise their own status by doing it.
And that’s coming from the japanese, what hypocrisy. Meanwhile their comedy shows still go full on foreigners, their hosts still say “gaijin” even tho japanese media has guidance to use “gaikokujin” since over 10 years.
I’m bi and like to play as a buff Hrothgar since I’m furry trash; many male furries I know went from being a Miqo’te to Hrothgar like me too.
And you better believe that there’s already a lot of really cute same-sex Hrothgar couples art scattered across the internet.
That said, I hope we see more updates on the female Hrothgar soon! I have furry friends who want to play as them but sadly can’t yet.
I never said that there was.
There's a difference between having a preference and between HATING something tho.
Especially to the point that you feel the need to shove your hate in everyones face every opportunity that you get.
Like I think there's a difference between for example seeing art on reddit that you don't like and simple keep scrolling, and with downvoting and taking to the comment section to make rude comments.
The latter reeks of narcissism and is just weird.
If you don't like women in revealing clothes that's fine, but it doesn't entitle you to dictate what other people do and when you act like it or feel like you need to shove your views on it in everyones face constantly then it basically comes across like you're trying to pressure people and dictate what they do.
And it's cringe and often times founded in insecurity, a normal person doesn't do that and doesn't obsess over what others do.
You can have a preference without being a constant source of irritation and also be an adult and recognize that you're not entitled to never see things that you might dislike and tell others what to do.
Limsa 20g is 20g kupo :D
