Is that Lalafell holding a phone?

Especially since we dont have a daily limit of allowed threads in this forum so a couple of more threads should really not be a big deal. Ignore it if its annoys you, or discuss the points of the OP but just flaming or posting Gifs is just bad. But hey with every post in a thread where you dislike its very existence will just make it stay active for longer.
I think the worst part about the app is the retainer. I thought it would be like a hook to get you to pay - like "pay for the app and get a retainer free" or something. Instead it just allows you to pay for an additional retainer. It's literally pay to pay. Thanks, SE.
This is definitely a Japanese phone app. IMO, it's actually a pretty useless app for the general western audience, unless you do intend to spend money in it (which, I guess, is the point?).
I'm waiting for the day that SE decides to gate a new job or race behind a roulette/gambling type of item from the cash shop, before I unsub for their "business" choices. Their lack of engaging content, even while funds are bolstered by said choices, on the other hand...
I've just unsubbed too because of this.
Stormblood overall has been disappointing to me. We lost dungeon development so SE could do something "never before seen" in an MMO. What I've actually seen happen is less content being developed for the game and instead more and more focus on the cash shop. Eureka was neat, but far from something "never before seen." I actually played the game it was based on for 8 years. I saw it for 8 years. For this we lose 30% of our new dungeons?
And then this companion app business. No. I'm done. I'm tired of paying a subscription to get less content and just more things to subscribe to.
Sigh this game can’t make you DO any thing. It can’t MAKE you unsub. You CHOSE to unsub. I’m really starting to get a little bit tired of so many people posting this. If you want SE to know you unsubbed, then do it - they have the numbers . Don’t be looking for more attention from other players cuz honestly, only your friends care if you still play or not. I personally don’t care
I'm kind of confused how much focus is being put on app features that already exist in game. You can pay microtransactions to list or buy things on the market board, or you can do it for free in game. You can transfer items directly between retainers on the app, but in game you have to transfer it to yourself as an intermediate step. I mean, I don't really see why they'd charge for that either, but it's hardly game-breaking (and doesn't confer any kind of actual advantage to app users). How often do you need to transfer items between retainers or organize their inventory when you're not even logged in?
To be clear, this app seems like a stupidly overpriced service that does almost nothing. If this is really all it does, even I won't pay for it, and I'll buy anything. So let's all just not pay for the stupid thing and move on with our lives.
When you have a lot of items to deal with be it crafting mats, glam gear or a combo of the 2, you take a TON of time trying to sort it. Retainer to retainer should of been in the game in 2.0, they rushed 2.0 out causing them to have to deal with "Spaghetti code"
If you are a near or full time crafter (meaning 80-100% of your play time is devoted to crafting) having an app to undercut someone while you do something else (manage/price change another retainer) is an insane advantage over someone else not doing that. Under NORMAL circumstances you will be correct but the thing is, it is a race to always have your item first listed in this game. The economy of this game is overall bad to begin with and I never liked the idea of having an app to manage the MB in the first place. So when you put a paywall for that kind advantage? don't expect career crafters to be happy. There is something else that only I seen myself to talk about. When you price change though the app, does it take the retainer down, the other 19 items off the MB while you do so? I am guessing the app doesn't force your other items to go off the MB and that just makes it an even bigger advantage to price change though the app.Quote:
is a pejorative phrase for unstructured and difficult to maintain source code, broadly construed. Spaghetti code can be caused by several factors, such as volatile project requirements, lack of programming style rules, and insufficient ability or experience
I spent 2 hours trying to help my SO a few weeks ago sort out inventory for the PURE REASON there was no retainer > retainer exchanges.
I would be ok if monthly fee went up by $2 a month if we got ride of the cash shop items,
I'm lagacy so I'm already saving money.
Should I just Accept and set aside $4 a month for in game items. I would sooner pay the extra every month.
It's why people go on contract for cell phones its easy to pay 75 a month for a phone and plan vs 40 a month and 800 up front for the phone.
Bump.
I want this to stay on the first page for visibility.
Hmmmm 5 dollar and add 2 dollars for an extra slot....-.- what is there to argue, unfair to those who boycott this app? The world is already unfair...it's a business, people get over it. Optional label, micro transactions, does it really matter? In t he end we are the consumer, we have the power, we have choices...don't use it, through a tantrum and rage quit, in the end it means the same...our choice. Life is not fair so make it fair in your own way.
I'd say the MB/retainer/storage part is the part not worth it... I'm going to use the app myself for non gil making reasons like the chat... I think what people should take into consideration when it comes to the app and the "I already pay my sub" argument is that what you're paying for really is remote access to the game... I guess you could track down a psvita and remote play that way (with way more available to you gamewise) for 100+ bucks... personally I can't see paying for 9 retainers (cuz if you use the app for an extra retainer you are already at the retainer cap) and an app and the extra coins just to change prices and items on the MB when youll most likely get undercut by someone who's at home all day anyway... id actually like to see garden tending and chocobo training added to the free version...
I don't see this as a basic game feature and neither does SE, last I checked they are the ones who get to determine what is basic game feature and what is not. YOU calling it a basic game feature does not make it indisputably, factually so.
I have no problem if they STARTED glams and Gold Saucer as a pay feature. It's not like I'm sitting at work everyday, watching the clock saying "Come on 5'oclock!!! I gotta get home and progress my Gold Saucer!!!!!"
If they added features to the game for free, then later blocked them behind a paywall to continue using them, then I'd have issue. But a company, in a free market, deciding what the will and will not charge for. That's their right. Period.
You're right. It is a business, but with that come expectations.
You go into a F2P model game knowing that it's going to be littered with micro transactions. All over the thing.
You go into a subscription based model MMO expecting your sub to pay for most everything the game offers. Like someone said before, you don't expect a subscription within the subscription. That has never happened before and that's why this is so jarring.
Yes with the business comes the expectation that the whole reason this game was even manufacture was to make money. That is the number one reason for a business. It's common sense that business can use different tools at their disposal to make money. So like in many other threads... at the end of the day it's up to us to decide on OPTIONAL services. If it seems unfair..just ask your self these simple questions.
Are they or will they be making money?
Are they doing anything illegal?
Am I trowing a tantrum or being over dramatic being I will probably be a hypocrite and use it anyways? (harsh but true )
IF after these people still can't place two and two together, lets ask something else.
Will the game be effected in a way that I can't participate in it or be excluded from content outside of the main story line or expansion sets? if so how? ( would love to hear this one ) Will not having extra retainers or access outside of my PC / gaming console ruin my chances of enjoying this game or am I just being childish and feel it's unfair because other people can afford it?
We all pay subscriptions, some less than others do to legacy, so we all have the same options in one way or another.
As for subscription over a subscription their are several games that have had this in the past, people just refused to acknowledge it.
At this moment, it is still optional. But, IF we ever get to the point that it isn't optional, you only suffer if you CHOOSE to. Honestly, if the game means so much to an individuals personal worth that they would classify not being able to play the game or something in it as "suffering".................ummm, ok.
They defended them a lot too when the western MMOs started rolling over to those models en masse in about 2007, and tbh it really didn't help them that much either. Probably all the changes to those games on the whole were a net negative; the larger ones would have survived anyways (liek Tor, LOTRO, etc) while the smaller ones died regardless if they converted (Fallen Earth.) It's just now you ended up paying more if you actually liked the game, probably double the monthly sub on average.
And these were western ones, Korean and Chinese MMOs seem to have gone off the deep end. Like no one even talks about the tons of high quality mmos that come here from Korea because usually the wallet warrior aspect is so high they can't retain ppl at endgame.
Then it just solidified with mobile making free + micro the model, and we are where we are. Really sucks, because the F2P games just drive most people out when they hit endgame; you literally can't afford to be competitive.
It doesn't even make sense, either. The whole 'businesses exist to make money' angle. Yes, they do - but that doesn't mean that profit at any cost should be justified. There's a reason why things are regulated heavily - if you cut corners with food, it's a health and sanitation risk. If you cut corners with a paid service, it's going to lead to problems later down the road and dissatisfied customers. If valid complaints are ignored, it may not result in big losses immediately but every scandal is a risk of being the straw that breaks the camel's back for a number of players.
I'd point to CD Projekt as one of the better modern game development studios. The Witcher 3 was a huge, richly detailed game with no dodgy micro-transactions and the DLC was very meaty and well worth the money. Sadly, this is the exception rather than the rule - so many other games have launched with the 'bare bones' and then charge extra for content that should have been there to begin with. FFXV is a glaring example. Key events weren't present in-game...you had to pay money to unlock and play through them later.
Dissidia NT also released in a very bare bones manner. I don't mind spending money on video-games. I do, however, expect it to be handled tastefully - adding more and more optional services when already charging for a subscription fee actually makes it worse than a F2P MMO in some ways, since they tend to be designed to accommodate such an approach from the get go and don't offer up any illusions that they're something that they aren't.
Marketing wise if the app does not work they will email players about the change....not likely being people who complain will comeback on their on. I would love to see the app fee be waived for us Legacy members as an act of good faith their players since v1.0. If not oh well a few bucks won't killme would have spent ot on something stupid anyways.
If you want to tackle the MT problem and use CD project red as an example of beign good please at least don't use the market nomeclature
Hearts of stone and Blood and wine were expansions not DLCs, the DLCs were the little bits that was added post launch of the game for free.
It really triggers me when ppl do this, CD project red always said those were expansions EXACTLY to combat the DLC practice, yet ppl follow it like sheep even when they combat it

ill there what i have to say
That virtual currency is the issue to look out for as it may translate into some terrible P2W services like power ups and what not in the future...but the app is meh lol I didn’t even pay it any attention.
Sorry this is something that made you unsub, but it really isn't that big of a deal to me. *shrugs* I don't need it, don't want it, will still pay for it. Not saying your points are invalid, but I don't see it as 'game breaking' or anything of the sort.
It's not really giving anyone an advantage over another person. Things don't always move that fast on the MB, and I even forget that we have Chocobo saddlebags! I never, ever use them lol.
Ah well, each their own.
There isn't enough popcorn in the world for this ...
Ok, SE, here's what you gotta do:
Make the Phone App apply ONLY to the Japanese market, then wait for the howling from NA/EU because people don't have access to it ...
Thank you.
For me it is out of concept more, ohh look more overpriced mog station items released. Oh sub on top of sub on top of sub (gating last retainer "sub")
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...icial-response.
I refuse to take part in this level of exploitation.
and the date... no response...
and look where we are now.
I wonder what this person would say to 7 paid retainers, app sub, locking an 8th retainer for a total of 36 dollars a month
and yet, they plan to release pay to win in 4.3
Stop whining. You don't need more than two retainers. You don't need the app. Acting like having tons of retainers and a free smartphone app that lets you manage your character while offline is the bog standard for mmos is absurd.
You're also falling into the false belief that because you have made so many topics about a single point of dissension, that your stance is a widely held one.
It is not. This sort of melodramatic overblown attitude towards optional additions has never been, nor will it ever be, held by more than an infinitesimally small minority.
Cry, scream, wail. It won't matter. You've been crying since 3 years ago and mogstation stuff still remains completely unnecessary. You'll continue crying for ages, and you'll undoubtedly be back in May.
Why should SE expand our inventory slots, when its clear as day that people are willing to pay for them. Additional retainers are doing so well they locked the 9th one behind a paywall just to see if people would go for that. Guess what people in Japan cant wait for this app to come out so they can drop 5$ a month on it.
It is a slippery slope. What if the kupo nuts or the other currency from the premium only grants exclusive mounts, hairstyles, emotes and clothing in the future? But its ok because all of that is optional through the app.
If that happens will it still be ok because its optional and doesnt affect combat gameplay?
The app does not make me want to unsubscribe. However it does make me very cautious in the next year and my continuation to support the game through my sub.
