You have plenty of craft and CP already, but you do need a bit more control. At this rate, looks like you can't really get away from using Seafood Stew HQ.

Don't go too crazy on the tools though, since they're class-specific. Personally, I have only maxed CP on them.

I'm alright with using Seafood Stew lol, I think I still have lots of the materials for it stockpiled since HW. Was using Tempura Platter HQ before. Thank you!

So this might have been asked already but the 2.5** by Tayler that you posted is a bit too high in crafting for me since I'm at 1502/1373/475 before food. Would you happen to have modified Tony's into a 3 part macro that you could post since it seems to align better with my current stats. Also if it is only at 1500 craftsmanship, Should I have sea food stew instead to help with the control?

Well, you can simply break that into 3 parts yourself -- just move the Ingenuity step and the rest of the macro to a 3rd macro, and you're done! :)

I just checked using the simulator whether your stats are truly compatible with Tony's rotation. Yes, they are, provided you eat a HQ tempura.

It's cutting REALLY close though with craftsmanship.... 6384/6377.... Remember, the simulator is not 100% accurate. So if you have 6378/6377, you will likely botch it. 6384/6377 may be ok.

Thank you very much! If I'm leveling my gatherers up as well, do I need them to able to get HQ matts or will I be able to go off of other stuff as HQ and just gear up my gatherer to just get the NQ nodes so I don't have to invest as much into the gear for it.

Always try to HQ as much as possible, it really does help allot all you need when starting to gather is make sure you are able to reach the perception needed to get HQ, you can crafter and gather same time, so you can craft your HQ gather gear. That is what I did and always craft more than one set, 3 sets maybe one set you use and sb and the other you sell on MB, that way you are making Gil as you level.

I am sure Caimie Tsukino's wonderfull guide will help you out with most of your questions.

I'm currently sitting at 1481/1343/474 on non-specialists and have made several of the new master book VI items without a problem (with macros). I didn't want to meld using any VIs, so I use seafood stew + cp tea, and have to be a specialist for the stats (and well, HQ a bunch of mats to be safe). My accessories also are not very optimally melded. I built up a lot of crafter souls from using custom deliveries for yellow scripts, so I don't mind planning carefully and swapping souls to be safe. I don't like going hardcore on spirit bonding + melding until the final all usable set of crafting gear (as it tends to last a year instead of 6 months).

You can remove your materia, so it should not be a problem with melds tbh! only VI's is a high risk of loosing it.

It's not about the gear itself but the penta-melding. I already spent a lot of gil on melding my crafter set and you can't hit the new perception without a lot of melding into the gathering set as well which is why I was wondering how much of the components we can get away with being NQ for 2.5** and 3*** crafts since it's a lot easier to just hit the base NQ for the new nodes as opposed to penta-melding to hit the perception number.

Hello Camie and others I hope you don't mind me popping in to ask for some help I have just finished melding my gear. Went from 6mil to 2mil ( brought some housing items in between) but yeah it was a lot of blood sweat and tears LOL my stats is looking around Craftmanship: 1524 Control:1436 and CP 470. Without food or medicine.

I've realized that I'm having a very hard time crafting the level 35 items. Do you know of any good macros based upon my stats I could use for that? If it means I'd have to switch out specialists every other day I'll do that as well! I've been trying non spec macros though ( I'm not good crafting manually unless it's following a layout) but perhaps that's where I'm going wrong?

I have recently added a new chapter in my crafting guide:
Ch68: Master Recipe Books VI and 3 Star Recipes in Stormblood

In that chapter, I have listed two macros - one for specialists (from VisuviusFire), one for non-specialists (from S'yahn Tias).
I tested your stats on the specialist macro using the simulator, and here's the result:

As you can see, it works really well... just shy of 2474 quality. So if you use 1 HQ mat, it'll be pretty close to 100%. Alternatively, even if you use pure NQ mats, 84% HQ rate isn't bad either. After all, you don't need all HQ mats to craft 3 star 70 durab final products. So you can totally afford to gamble at 80-ish % HQ rate without any problem. (oh, this is a rotation that uses specialist skills, so it assumes you have the soul stone, but I didn't add the extra 20 craft and 20 control to the stats before I ran this result.)

Btw, if you can add just 1 more CP to your gear, you can use an NQ cunning tea instead of HQ. Because you just need 535 CP for the above rotation.

I have not tried testing your stats on non-specialists rotation yet. But you can do it yourself easily. A wild guess from me would be that you may need 1 HQ mat to bring the final HQ rate from 30-ish to 70-ish % (<-- pure speculation).

If you know your HQ progress with your current gears/melds and skill rotations using the crafting optimizer, you can calculate how many HQ mats you need to reach 100% HQ rate in your crafting progress (I posted the formula a few posts back). It's safe to say you need to reach 50% HQ progress minimum and use all HQ mats if you want to reach 100% HQ rate. Some recipes cannot reach 100% HQ rate if your HQ progress is 50% because some mats don't have HQ like Gyr Abanian Alchemic or those demimaterias.

As for gathering, the high 1350 perception is just that you can have better chance of getting the 42% proc, still it's not every node when you gather. So I guess the only way around for you is to use your gathering skills to increase the chance. You still need the minimum 1220 gathering stat for the 85% gather on 4.2 nodes. What I do here is use sharp vision II/field mastery II for the 15% increase gather, unearth III/leaf turn III for 30%-100% HQ chance then bountiful yield II/bountiful harvest II as many times as your GP allows. Also If you get the +1 gather attempt, then you can use deep vigor/brunt force to make your last gather 100% HQ (Save 100 GP till the end for bountiful yield II/bountiful harvest II for this last gather).

This usually gives me at least 30% HQ chance or higher if your perception is high and sometimes lucky a proc of roughly 12% from node. I usually do this when I didn't get the 42% HQ proc with my 1350 perception.

Thanks. The HQ mat initial quality calculation thingy is more of a basic crafting concept/mechanics... and would fit better in my original crafting guide for ARR. I'll try to fit it in there later.

You're welcome. Well, your spec has 20 extra craft, 20 extra control and access to some super skills like Reflect, right? Non-spec is supposedly weaker, so it makes perfect sense for non-spec to accomplish the same (or even less) by making use of more CP.

Anyways, I was looking at your OP melds from 4.1 and tbh, they are a little pricy for me atm. I just resubbed after a years hiatus and just bought a mansion (which I love as much as crafting). It was a real "Sophies Choice" but in the end the Large in Mist won. So I am on a budget until I can get into the swing of the changes in SB crafting. In the meantime What stats/(melds) would you recommend for someone who can only reasonably afford Vs IVs and IIIs in terms of materia but wants to get his foot in the door of the real money makers...and more difficult recipes.

Hi Garret! Thanks for your kind support!

The first "margin" that you need to reach is the 1330 craft / 1220 control / near-max CP stats which allows you to deal with 1 star, 2 star and special 2 star crafting. You should be able to reach this amount of stats by melding Vs and IVs on i290 gear. However, since the endgame BiS gear currently is i320/i325, it is probably best to acquire these gear first before you do any heavy melds. Since you're unlikely to have the stats to craft these i320/i325 items, I suggest you find someone to do it for you. Then you can lightly meld them with Vs and IVs at the moment. DO NOT go crazy overmelds yet. It is better to wait until you have some VIs in hand, and get them into the slots of i320 before you start going heavy overmelds with Vs and IVs. You should be able to reach the minimum stats for 1 star, 2 star and special 2 stars without any problem using Vs and IVs. Keep in mind that IVs can be retrieved any time and Vs can be retrieved at 80% success rate. So you can do "temporarily melds" nowadays, which is a luxury that we didn't have 2 patches ago.

To acquire the mats needed for i320, you will need yellow scrips. And yellow scrip grind is expensive. Thus, you should rely mostly on weekly Custom Delivery to obtain your yellow scrips (because it's the cheapest way!). Use these scrips to buy Gyr Abanian Alchemic, which are useful for making i325 tools and i320 gear. Once you have collected all the mats, send them out to a friend who can help you with the i320/i325. In the meanwhile, you should be able to craft yourself the HQ i290 gear, and you can freely do any in-slot melds with IVs. After any of these gear are spiritbonded to max, retrieve the materia which you melded, and then converting them into materia. You will have a small chance of getting VIs.

i290 accessories/belt and i290 offhands are currently still BiS, but all of us are anticipating new accessories/belt and offhands to be coming soon in the next patch, so I won't do any crazy melds on them. Try to do something that is affordable and retrievable.

I'm sitting at Craftsmanship: 1514, Control: 1445, CP: 474 without food or tea, but I'm having trouble finding anything reliable. Anyone have any success with them since the new patch dropped?

Although it takes a long while, and may take HQ mats to get a decent ending percentage chance, the old Rath’s Rotation is still a fairly solid, if very long, option. Although it is possible to make a Specialist variant (mainly by using the double Byregot’s at the end, for a ton of CP) its still quite feasible to use it in the older, non-Specialist versions.

Might be worth noting, but I've found for the 3 star Macro 35 Durability Rotation by Visuvius Fire you have in your guide, if you take the early Great Strides out you can save a lot of CP without a huge quality loss.

If you then replace Ingen1 in the quality phase with Ingen2, replace Tempura HQ with Seafood Stew HQ and take Commanding Tea instead of Cunning, you can manage the synth with 461 base CP and actually get better quality than the original. Handy for budget crafters like me who were stingy on maxing CP.

Your best bet is probably a standard Makers Mark rotation. (https://i.imgur.com/xDwIrsY.png)
Sub the specialist finisher for SH2 -> Ingen2 -> Inno -> Touch -> Strides -> Brygots. Should be overkill with your stats. Makers Mark is a bit long winded but it'll save you switching stones around as much.

For the easier 2 star materials I'm quite fond of Evian's

Tested results here:
The original Visuvius need 535 CP. I can squeeze out 18161 quality at 1458 control.
Your version needs only 511 CP. I can squeeze out 17425 quality at 1458 control.

I would take Liam_Harper's suggestion, and just modify the MaMa rotation (in Chapter 60)'s finisher with a Blessing instead of the double Byregot. With your high stats, you should have absolutely no problem with it. The MaMa rotation is a very reliable rotation, and I haven't NQ-ed anything using it yet.

I love the guide, I’ve used it like crazy, but one part is nagging at me. The miracle/blessing combo relies on RNG for the blessing right?

It seems that the steady hand wears off right before it. I get it if people are macroing and the 90% chance for an extra 3k quality is worth the risk. Am I missing something?

Okay......self-edit upon double checking before I post. I totally misread the combo and it’s miracle/brow, not miracle/blessing. Hence the 100% fidelity and I’ve been needlessly scratching my head for three days and created the account just so I could pose this question. Yay me. The Miracle+Brow combo was written for Specialists. If you're not a specialist, you won't even have Miracle available in the first place. And if you are a specialist, then Brow is 100% fidelity instead of 70%.

The rotation was written when these recipes were "specialist recipes". At the moment, since they are no longer specialist-only recipes, we can just use the regular blessing approach if you're doing it with a non-specialist, since you won't have the miracle available at all.

Holy crap, tried it out last night. Got 19k quality off the combo. Definitely overkill with my stats but it was fun just to do it. Will come in handy in the future I’m sure, although I will still probably needlessly do it all the time now so I can watch the big numbers.

On page 150 there is an error in the table. Starting at Inner Quite stack 8 Miracle is 10% too high.

Apparently, the page numbers of yours are very different from mine. Can you please screenshot the errors you see or let me know which chapter the errors are under? OR even copy and paste here, so I know which part you are referring to?

Also, I totally thought the 35/70 durability crafts were because I was lower level/stats for some reason. This might change things.

I would just stick to Hasty Touch until level 66. You need Manip2 (lv 65) and Prudent Touch (lv 66) to move out of Hasty Touch spam.

Hm. Yeah. My CP's still pretty low for most rotations. Food and more CP melds would help, but probably not totally worth it.

So, gear-wise, what am I looking forward to as I get stuck at the end of HW before I actually make it to SB? The gear section of the guide felt a little unfinished. I don't see any Ironworks there, but that also sorta looks like more work than I should bother with now that 60 isn't cap. Easiest to just work up to the Augmented __Keep's gear? The i170 accessories look like a lot as well. Not sure that's something I can aim for without going the full penta-melded route, is it?

You might be able to get away with just riding the 58-60(white) set until you hit 61, then upgrade to that set and skip all the 60 upgrades. The higher end recipes would be a challenge, but you can get through 60 without actually diving into the deep end if you dont want to.

Augmented Keep's gear is rather close in stats to HQ level 65 gear, all but the accessories. While the level 60 scrip accessories have the same cp as the current best level 70 accessories, they lack the materia slot that makes them outclassed by a single cp+6 materia in the HQ level 63 accessories.

If you would like you can technically go for Ironworks, but as you said it's not current and it's rather close in stats to HQ level 61 gear which is much easier to make.

I guess it all depends, do you want to grind for red scrips? Like, 2650 red scrips? Then 2000 red scrips for every single other class? If so, go for that keep set. If not, I'd recommend waiting until level 61 and making or buying a set.
Do try and go for that handmaster's belt though, it's outclassed only at 66 (only beaten at 63 with overmelding)
