aww... poor babies, you gotta pay a 5% surcharge that caps at 4k just to use your precious AH, you won your precious AH and STILL aren't satisfied. (why am I not surprised?) SE decided to put in a realistic surcharge for using a service ingame, it is a gil sink in a game that currently is quite limited in that dept.
Isn't the cap to get it from the AH only at a 4k cap? Don't know how it is on other servers, but 4k is next to nothing.
post for awesomeness
Lol @ tag cloud "Trolls Trolling Trolls" lmao
but that gil isnt lost
only the "tax" the wards charged for selling the materia or items if they werent all self made is
the gil is only transfered to other players
imposing a tax for laziness(which is what this is) will take out that much more gil that much quicker
cuz lets face facts, people are lazy
i for one will still run to the npcs, but most people wont
Help me understand that a bit more lol. Yes the gil is simply transferred, but technically I would be carrying, (let's say materia) valued at that amount. I lose it in an attempt to forbidden materia and then that item is gone from existence and that value is gone from the economy. This is sincere Thev.
there is 100mil gil in the economy
you have 10mil, other players have 90mil
you buy 10 materias for 10mil gil total
10mil gil is NOT removed from the economy, only transfered to other players(minus the 5% tax on their sales, so lets say 500k was removed)
so you may value your materia at a certain ammount, but your materia is not actual gil
the other players do however have your gil minus that tax
so by spending 10mil gil, you lost 10mil, but only 500k was actualy removed from the economy
True but how does this take money out of the game? You are purchasing gear/materia from another player (or gathering materials needed to make the original item). Someone is getting rich, even if you break during forbidden materia. It drains gil from an individual, but not from the game itself. Raw Materials are removed from the game through forbidden materia failures.
I sort of understand that lol. Where I'm getting confused is I understand buying a item for X amount and losing a certain amount to the tax. I have that item though and can sell it when done with it. The forbidden materia example is where I need some convincing, that's gil paid, and when attempted and lost is gone for good. I know longer hold an item of value. Every item that can be sold holds some gil value. Whether or not I drop it, sell it, npc it is up to me. Btw this topic has gone all over the place lol.
forbidden materia is still gil paid to ANOTHER PLAYER
as i said, it doesnt remove the gil from the game, only from your inventory, into another players
items in the economy isnt the issue, its gil itself people are looking at
if you want to count gil value of items, then its value is only what it can be vendored for. so you lost those materia and those items, which you paid 2mil for it, you really only removed 40k gil from taxes when you did so, and maybe 20k more gil from the value of the items to a vendor(which really doesnt count)
Right it does remove an item(s) from the game but gil itself is not removed. The actual amount of gil that item is worth is not removed from the game when that item is destroyed. You see a personal loss of assets but no actual gil is lost. Materia requires no money to make, no money to slot and no money to trade (selling is a different matter). As such it does not require any gil to be removed from the system.
Ah k, got it. I completely understood from the start, the transferring from one to another just got a bit tricky with actual gil and item value. Case closed lol.
And also, this page needs more of that photo.
im for the surcharge. keep it. you pay for convenience, the less steps you have to take to get something, the more it should cost, cuz your saving time, you spend money, how realistic is that? pretty good trade off. you dont like it. go find it. or make/gather it yourself.
and no one else noticed how they slashed our crystal/shard usage? thats money saved right there ;p
Only thing to take away from this thread is that images will be removed just like video tag was >.>
I'm actually a little surprised this thread hasn't been shutdown for being off-topic.
Fun fact: Adblocker works on any image. Which is why I don't see a gyrating Lord Voldemort in these forums anymore. Of course, the image has been seared into my brain so I can never truly unsee it. *shutters*
I don't mind the sales tax since it isn't taxing the merchant. It's taxing the consumers. At the moment there is 0% tax on the consumers. You just pay whatever is listed.
However, if you include both taxes, it totals up to 10% or less, which is the same as bazaar tax on players selling. Although, player bazaar tax doesn't have a upper cap limit, so purchasing from MW still saves more gil.
If 4000gil or less is breaking your budget, then you still have the option of going down and picking up the item. Keyword there is option.
Not to bothered about this , i will probley go directly to the npc to save gil as i know based on past experiences that people will start charging more for items they sell as the game gets nearer 2.0
It seems backwards..shouldn't the person putting it up get the charge..like in FFXI? This also discourages people from overpricing stuff by paying % fee. o.O; Either way looks like I'll still be running to get my items..oh well lol.
Did you read the part where it caps at 4k?
Honestly people...
With how cheap some people are apparently, I'm honestly surprised we didn't get people complaining about retainers listing gear with values above 0 at the end to denote materia value or HQ level. All those extra gils going down the drain.
People seem to forget FFXI had AH fees, it was towards the merchant not the consumer but none the less...bitches gonna bitch.
The only problem I have with the implementation is that transaction history resets at maintenance, though I'm sure this is a server side issue that may be remedied in the future.
