This is not animation Lagg , when Ifrit cast's that spell if it appears under u you take damage if not then your are lucky an don't people don't understand that concept.

And after you get the timing down, accounting for server/client lag and managed to best the God of flames; you're hit with the illogical loot system that has been introduced in patch 1.19. In other words, there is no loot system. The rewards just randomly drop directly to the lucky player's inventory. Thus, leaving some players to receive duplicate weapons(destroying it automatically due to re/ex), while others receive grade 5 dark matter for all their hard-fought effort.
Thank you SE for making a fun and exciting fight!... for masochists who enjoy terrible server lag and 0 rewards!
The worse part about the loot system that my shell is encountering is that the people that have been there 85%+ of the time have nothing while some have 2 or more items. Also, we seem to get zero drops (everyone gets DM5) rather frequently, already happened 5 times.
1/24 and counting! And the 1 drop was an Ifrit Blade that went to a r36 GLA.

I understand they wanted to make people not clear this content in a few weeks but they've made it so random it can get extremely frustrating for some people (not even counting the wipes in the process, that adds another layer).
The one thing they should have made is something similar to WoW, where a kill nets you a token, always. Trade x number of tokens for the weapon of your choice.
Yes, I know that they could make it so you'd need like 50 tokens or (most likely) even more, but at least that would lead to the following:
- Not leaving empty handed after each kill. (Good, imo)
- Give some sort of goal to reach. (Good, imo)
- Focus the reward on people who attends and are skillfull to win this fight. (Good, imo)
- Make it possibly much longer to get a drop and split LS ressources because of party restriction and amount of token to get (Bad, imo)
- Make it virtually impossible to PUG those weapons (Bad, imo, as i'm not sure if that fight is even PUG-able)
But then, it might be just me being extremely bitter about being among that 85%+ statistic quoted above...

so its not a lag or somethin like it.. only the lalafell in this vid got hit by ifrits attack.
the other people, standing on the right place are safe (between the 3 circles of fire).
i wouldnt say its a lag. its more that the radius of the attack is a little bigger (at some parts) than the animation is.

Just wanted to add to the pile, this is terrible and the fight needs to be adjusted until it is fixed. Give us a couple more seconds to run from plumes before they go off as well as eruptions.

The animation lock sucks, but the battle difficulty is about right. While animation lock is a weird way of control fight difficulty, if you have trouble beating it you simply need get better.
Learning curve is steep but once you get it down it's fairly easy. Positioning is key to avoid plumes...
All in all, no matter what your opinion on the Ifrit fight is..
using animation lock as a mechanic to add difficulty is a fairly weak move by Square Enix. Considering animation lock and server lag make the fight about 10 times harder.
I think learning new ways of playing is always a good idea for raids. But using faulty mechanics, server issues, poor loot systems to gauge difficulty is wrong.
I am also frustrated about the server lag. Everytime after hellfire there is soo much anamation lagg that the lava pumes im out of it like 100% like 1st post video and i get hit. Since i have all my DOW and DOM all 50 and they and nothing to do but ifrit i quit this game until. How can i fight IFRIT when i cant even do anything with server lagg. SE pls fix this or your gonna lose alot of ppl in the future if futrue raids/instances are like this.
It's not like they did it intentionally. Would you rather have no new content until v2 comes out and the server issues are fixed? It's just something we'll have to live with until then, or stop playing until it's fixed. The key is knowing when to use an action or a spell so that you can move the second you see a crack appear under you. Maybe they could adjust the time given to get off the crack to compensate for the server issues but many linkshells are farming this raid now so it's not broke.
I have beat Ifrit many many times(as kyri sagitta), and i will be step in step with our jp mage and die to cracks while she does not. i feel like a weak link to my team and im done trying this because it makes me feel like its my fault when I know clearly it is not. I love SE/ffxiv and I wont quit, ill pay but this depresses me hugely.
Not to bring in something off point but drops too, half the ls members has 3-6 weapons each, I have yet to have gotten one. the drops here are terribly off if i have beaten this 20+times and seen nothing while others in my group only need one more to complete set.
Hold on a little longer and the lag will be fixed in about 12 months when 2.0 is done =_=
Recently, my LS has defeated Ifrit. I must say, as cool as the fight is, it is heavily flawed and 100% needs to be fixed. This is not a fight against Ifrit, this is a fight against the game itself. When you create a system that requires you moving around a lot and timing yourself, then you need to make it where animation lag does not become an issue. You can sugar coat it all you want, but this is a system we should not have to work with. This really needs some tweaking around.
No I would rather they provide content suitable for the limitations of the server.
Agree, when they reduce the animation lag and remove animation lock (assuming they do) this game could have some really interesting and dynamic fights, but until those two go its just going to add a layer of fake difficulty.
Meanwhile folks, just try to put up with stuff like this!
I don't mind too much, we get by and my LS have beaten ifrit once (cudgel went to someone who could even use it! Fancy that!) but to be honest, it's hard to be motivated when the fight can, at times, be a game of russian roulette...
If I monkey it up and get caught due to animation lock then I accept it's my fault for not paying attention. It's times like this where you just look at the screen though and think "wha...?"
this is what I'm experiencing every single battle.
I know the right pace, and the right time, but i just can not dodge due to lag. Please fix this, this game is not JP only. If you cant make the content fair international to all nations in an international server, then change or dont make this content at all.

Thanks, guys! I know when the Darkhold first came out, if more than one party was already in the dungeon in another instance, the vids would be choppy and we'd randomly lose people to D/C (sometimes 2/3 at the same moment) and after that it was just chaos with the lag. A mob would start casting, we'd make it clean out of range, and still get massacred.
Glad to see we have a place to report such things now.
My latency goes from 4 R to 100+ R as soon as I step into Ifrit. Reboot servers please.
I suffer the same problems as many others in this thread, but I have come up with a work round: I tanked Ifrit :D. This way I am expected to take damage and the heals are directed at me. I managed my first two kills yesterday and on the second run I got my first weapon. After that another player took the tanking duties and the old problem raised its head and I spent more time face down on the ground than hitting Ifrit.
I've pretty much given up on doing the Challenging content until they mend the latency issues. My latency constantly goes red, More frequently when in fights. Not only that, even if it isn't red, moving out of danger zones doesn't always help. I am in one place but the server believes I'm in another. It cant possibly have to wait until the data is moved over to the new servers...
