Low level market seems to be dead

A casual reminder to any of our new players logging in: don't be a "problem", grind dungeons and dailies. The same ones again and again and again....

But true in a way is it not? Lol. At this point im sure there's a hell of a lot of people from 1.0 twitching and trying not to punch thier screen at the dev response to crafting.

I'll be honest, I personally would like to demand to see a roadmap for the next year to two to see what exactly their vision for this game is outside of repeating primal fights, doing more primal fights etc etc. Are crafters completely boned from now on? Because if im reading the response correctly, they just have it in just so people sink time into it for no reason which that imo is shady as hell.

We'll see though.. *shrugs* Whole situation gives me a headache.

The development team needs to figure out how to make crafting relevant in the game again. It was one of the few highlights in version 1.0 and is now looking like a great disappointment in version 2.0. They don't want crafted to be equal to or better than end game because it'll make RMT popular. We get that, but then SE needs to reexamine what crafting can be. That means the entire systems needs a Realm Reborn overhaul:

• Materia needs to be on end game gear and Job specific materia needs to come into play. People have been begging for more gear tailored to their classes and this is how you do it.
• Vanity is coming in 2.2. If this is the case we need free ran to make really cool looking outfits that people want to wear.
• Chocobo Barding and mount customization. Give us the ability to change the appearance of not only chocobo but the reward mounts too.
• Actually armor and weapon appearance customization. Let's take the DL Tank armor for example. Give us the ability to change the shoulder, helm, add different back pieces like capes, different belts, even the emblem on the front. You have this system for housing so it's not a stretch to add to crafting.
• An actually system that requires DoL and DoH in the game. A decay system for the world around us that requires upkeep. I honestly believe people want to feel like Eorzea is a living, breathing world and we can't have that if everything is static. That is where the next evolution of MMOs is going to be. DoH needs to repair towns, both player and npc. DoL needs to maintain the environment.

Dailies, dungeons, and guildhests. It's a triathlon every day, tee-hee! :p

most low level gear can be bought at vendors or people have already made a set for themselves. hq gear will sell, I had some extra materials left over from weaving and put some lv25 hq gear up for 3k each and they all sold. not too bad since at level 50 hqing them is no problem.

vanity equipment will require requests from DoHs.

Have you seen most of the gear DoH makes? While some of it is unique looking, the majority isn't, more so if you're talking Plate armors, the dungeons sets though are pretty spiffy looking.

Sorry to barge in on the thread like this, but I just re-read this reply and am bothered by it.

What is the point of having any crafting classes at all other than for food?

The game was designed so that dungeon gear is better than crafted gear.
Quests hand out gear like it's candy on Halloween.
Vendors sell gear.

Other chances to use low-level/crafted gear...
Materia..... to put on what? Dungeon gear doesn't let you meld.
Second Class......What about all the other gear I've collected from dungeons, this really isn't a great option.

So, again, I have to ask the question, why do they still have crafting in the game if it serves no purpose?

apparently to make unwanted furniture for houses that people don't have, and can make themselves anyway.

FFXIV focus on endgame, no reason for ppl to spend time/money on low level when you can level to 10 within an hour and to 50 in 2 weeks.
Simply not effective, especially when you can level with "ok" gears, why spend time on hunting/crafting gear when leveling only take least amount of time.
1-50 is supposed to be tutorial for the job, as SE planned, at the end it's about player skills, that's why lots of battle require practice.

it's up to SE to design a system where the parts function properly, whatever the battle content may be is no excuse for the piss poor sorry excuse of a economic system they've put in place.

I fully agree on this.

You know, I started to play Eve Online and had a look at the "Elder Scrolls Online" closed beta last week, and what I experienced in both games adjusted my way of thinking about XIV in many ways. It was practically shocking. At the moment, XIV is in a worse state than ESO ( for example: open world, no server crashes even on day 1, dialogue system in quests instead of walls of text, fully voiced in a manner which does not resemble the quality of a dubbed porn movie, support of more platforms, no silly instancing, etc.), but most of all: Eve Online is a wonderful example how a market system should look like (and not to mention the UI). Heck, it is even a schoolbook for how to fend of RMT. My main experience has been that XIV is one of the most expensive games out there, but also the most unfinished.

Let's see how the market develops. If not, /goodbye. Other parents have nice kids, too.
