For those who want to ask Yoshi about FFXI styled endgame content

That's his loss as well as he could learn something, such as having the open world pose a threat, instead of this care bare attitude he has. Wow had the most sales dosent mean that XIV will have the same success. Yoshi wants to appeal to a broad audience therefore he should stand by what he said, and that dose include content that casual players wont be able to do for a while. Also dont forget not everyone will do the content but I am willing to bet that the casuals in XIV right now are wanting more than this easy mode that we have.

You got my 2 thumbs up. I would love to see some stuff from FFXI mainly Sky/Sea.

To the haters in a way Crystal Tower is similar to Nyzul Isle.

We could have a BCNM style thing, There's some stuff up on the market board some type of beastmen coins that could be used to enter.

We could have a Besieged event, Force pop NMs.


CoB and CT cant be the only End Game Content in this game for a year+. 2.1CT, 2.2 CoB Turn6+, 2.3 CT higher floors you get the picture.

Whoa, that's a lot of insinuating what I might want. But with your logic, there's no reason to not do a lot of things. People can argue to put content from any SE or other MMO.. because, as you say, there's no reason not to do or implement it.

And this is coming from someone who is fond of FFXI.

What do you mean from the marketing point of view? It was their most successful game, EVER in terms of money made.

If I wanted FFXI endgame, I'd go resub FFXI. To each their own, but I have no desire for this.

Didn't read all the pages, so sorry if this was already mentioned. But 1.0 seemed to try to shoot for a lot of what FFXI had, and failed (not to say content was the only issue, but it was still not looked on positively). I don't think they will want to try to bring any of that style back just from the backlash they got.

Only thing I miss from 1.0 that could have seemed FFXIsh was Hamlet (kinda like Besieged). But that's only because 1.0 tried to come up with ways to make crafters do events (which I love).

No idea where you got this idea from. One of the major reasons FFXI still gets expansions is because it basically helped SE stay afloat when they took a dive.

In it's hay day, it was one of the most subscribed MMOs out there (obviously WoW was a lot further, but then it was a lot further than everyone, so it's silly to say if they didn't have WoW numbers they weren't successful).

I think people forget just how cheap it is to keep an MMO going once they've gotten an established player base.

UO is still p2p....

1. Nope. FFXI made Square-Enix the most money out of any Final Fantasy game. To put it simple, FFXI was the most financially successful Final Fantasy title to date.
2. That's true, but "drawing inspiration" from XI content isn't necessarily "old"
3. Not true, they do not "compete" against each other.

Ask anyone, ANYONE who hated 1.0 and 95% of them will say: "The combat was slow and it sucked" If you read the big bolded part of my post, we do not want "slow combat" to make a comeback.

It's funny how you say you enjoyed Hamlet (which you said is somewhat like besieged), BUT they took it out of 2.0, when that is EXACTLY the type of content that we're asking to come back in the game.

I'll say again, the problem with 1.0 was the slow paced combat (people really don't like slow strategic combat). 1.0 had NO endgame content that was similar to FFXI at all other than apparently this Hamlet event you mentioned.

I can even think of something like:

- There are certain boss FATEs in the open world that spawn at random but normal FATE intervals.
- Each person participating gets a certain type of "Token" for winning, the amount of Tokens increase depending on Gold, Silver, Copper awards.
- These Tokens are then used for a BCNM type battle, to pop a certain NMS that have "Unique drops"
- Ideas for "Unique drops" Can be crafting items to craft Blue ILv90 Equipment, or ILv80 Equipment. They can be another set of tokens or something to trade in for different sets of gear, vanity items, furniture, etc.

All this would utilize the open world and each item drop would depend on if it was capable of being traded or sold, that would depend on economy and other things.

But it IS possible.

I read your link. It said it also wanted sky, sea, dynamis, etc. None of which I want. Reread my post. The reason I liked Hamlet was because of the crafting aspect, and yes I like town seiges. Sky, Sea, dynamis, are not town seiges.

They had world bosses. And primal fights were similar to BCNMs in that they needed tokens just to enter them.

My only issue with endgame is last time I played WoW and quit was because of this same exact endgame we currently have grind dungeons get points and buy gear.

Doesn't have to be XI type endgame but something other then this dungeon grind we currently have would be better.

If you were to chronologically swap FFXIV 2.0 and FFXI, then FFXI would have been a bigger failure than FFXIV 1.0. It only did well because it came first and was your only option.

Besides this thread is completely useless. We have people asking for MMO expansions for a MMO, but disguise it as "Better FFXI content". No, it is not better FFXI content, it is MMO content. Hundreds of MMOs run these things, they just weren't specifically called Sky, Sea etc.

I swear you'd all have a better success rate at making threads about "more open world" and not "more open world like FFXI", because then you won't include all the years of negative feelings for FFXI in the discussion.
