Either SMN and RDM should lose their Raise or BLM should get a Raise.

Also @Remedi what they said in July can still change based on new information/opinions, so here we are discussing it again. If they aren't interested in removing rez dispenser or raise on SMN then the correct thing to do is balance the role, and they will (hopefully) now realize that.

A fine ideal, but no. This is an MMORPG. Playability always in first place.

That isn't to say that the lore doesn't or can't enrich the experience, but the developers' first concern will always be "Is this fun for players?" since that question goes hand-in-hand with "Are people eager to pay for this?" Players subscribe to play a game they enjoy, not to tithe to the shrine of FF lore.

All that being said, I'm still on the nope wagon as far as BLM raise goes. I can imagine at least a few viable ways to introduce it (from a lore perspective) without trying very hard, but I just don't want it.

They did a good move with Bahamut: one big heavy visualized hit like we used to know...

Neela, legit you're drunk, go home. This thread is a raise discussion with regards to BLM, there's another thread for SMN QoL, I've been watching it as well.

@Cynfael: once again, I only want it because I don't want to be stuck playing SMN/RDM for progression again. Raise is an indispensable progression tool and to attempt raid prog without it is very illogical no matter which way you slice it. If the caster role is supposed to compete on this front, then BLM should have access to it, period. If they would rather remove it from SMN/RDM, then so be it, but the issue bringing to light is imbalance.


As a raider who fills the caster role, it is my duty to bring the most to my group that I can, and raise is just another consideration in that equation. Please tell me that this at least makes sense.

So what? Where is BLM unplayable? You guys keep saying that -BLM needs damage, or raise or whatever- sure it does need more damage, but you gotta consider how braindead is 4.0 BLM's rotation and how clearly this game works on rewarded jobs.
Another thing, BLM survived 4 years without a raise.
For those who don't remember, BLM was always taken over smn until creator. All the other fights, savage coil, the coils on their own, gordias AND midas had a BLM in their party and yes, I'm talking about world 1st, 2nd and so on... BLM was at 70% of the casters base UNTIL END OF MIDAS. So please for those saying that blm isn't desired on progression, please stop. It wasn't a problem before and it isn't a problem now.

Remi 2 pages ago I said I would leave him his opinion and hope that 4.2 makes him happy. It’s not me who continued to attack an opposite opinion now he’s even trying to roll me out cause he lacks in any more arguments but well I don’t wanna fight it’s just funny how he tries to get company in you to shut me down ^^

Not that I like the sentence but that was exactly what Blm threw on our heads back at 4.0 just before they locked us out in pfs. Now people realize those words can hurt hm? : /

If you don't know where BLM is currently unplayable (by which I mean fulfills its role as strongest damage lowest utility), then you don't play it and you probably shouldn't be voicing your uninformed opinion in this thread, because the answer is: literally everywhere.

Everything you just listed off was pre-rez dispenser where there was no precedent for the caster role and raising in such a way. Your only choices were SMN or BLM, so SMN having it and BLM not having it really was "unique". So, NOW Raise on BLM has become an issue since 4.0 since 2/3 of the caster role has it and 1/3 does not. See how that works?



Also Neela I haven't "gotten any company" to shut you down, I don't mind control the people in this thread. Your remarks just have nothing to do with the topic (bahamut size, egis, etc).

He doesn't get the concept of people understanding and plainly disagreeing with his arguments/proposals etc.

This is the problem when a class is this bad people don't even know what they want because everything sucks so much that anything could be an improvement, I don't want res because I think we can be balanced without it, but at this point I'd accept anything, ppl who don't realise how bad BLM is should read Sfia's OP on the Black Mage Megathread, and it's not recently it has been since the beggining of this expansion and it hurts when classes like MCH, WAR and SMN got buffed when they were already much better than us...
