Definitely push more. You dont know what your limit really is if you dont try to stretch yourself a little. So my advice would be to get into Sigma normal. A quick glance at your gear says that you probly only need 2 or 3 upgrades to hit that level. When you cleared Raba you should have gotten a coin, and one of the NPCs in Rhalgrs will trade that for an upgrade material to take one of your 330s(creation pieces only, not raba drops) to 340. And with all the new stuff youve been doing, youre probly swimming in creation tomes. Sigma will let you get your hands on some 350s, and your first mendacity piece(360) shouldnt be too far away. Once you feel your gear is ready, you can look for a learning party for either Sigma savage or an extreme primal and see how you fare. Best of luck!

Edit: Almost forgot. Dont worry about learning from a guide. A lot of people cant do that, and need to try the fights to put the pieces together. You can look at the guides as just a set of things to look out for, and learn by doing if thats what works best for you.

Got bismark hard yesterday.Spotted a sprout and 2 returners.Was another 2 mentors also in the group.Everything went fine till snake phase.They werent tanked properly and dps and healers decided also not to avoid the pockets of wind etc.
Party eventually wiped.Both healers who were mentors left instance immediatly after followed by 2 random dps.The 3 left were yep,The sprout and the returners.So we wait for it to fill up.A few other mentors show up.I explain how to tank the snakes to both the tanks before we start again.Everything goes fine nobody dies.They get their clear and say thanks for explaining.
Im getting sick of seeing people who wear the crown insta rage if they see one fail.

That's really sad. I think it's because most mentors become such not because they actually want to help sprouts, but only for the rewards. And being nice is not really a requirement for becoming mentor, unfortunately (300 comms on 1000 runs are a joke, too, and often you don't need to be helpful to get them).

I don't save SC for just resses. If I see no reason that people should reasonably die within the next minute than I might SC Medica II or something else (Aero III or Holy in pulls for example). Sometimes people stand in bad and die 20 seconds later anyway, but then they have to wait 40 seconds for SC to come back up. >_>

:O I had my first experience of how hard O7 can be for melee. I main DRG here on Thyn'a, but I have taken to running everything as healer (Usually AST) and just gear up my goon.

I think the first day through my group wiped once. So it seemed really simple to me.

Second time through was on my BRD alt, and we wiped a bit, but it still didn't seem THAT bad.

And today I ran it on my tank alt as DRG. There is one aoe around the boss that if you're not moving the split second it pops, it wrecks you. Then we had healers that insisted on taking the closest yellow circles so I had to run across the room to get them. Going in with my main on healer again, I think I will only feel bad for any melee I see. I felt like a BLM, wanting to stand my ground to get in the deeps, but just having to run around like a chicken with my head cut off.

I really liked running O8 though.

Had a rough run of Sigma 4.0 (normal!!!!) last night. Nobody was dodging anything consistently, vulnerability stacks were high and whenever the stack mechanic came up, people insisted on planting themselves in the unsafe portions of the arena, causing partial wipes. I say partial cause I must've thrown out about 20 verraises during the whole ordeal and mana shift/lucid dreaming were almost constantly on cooldown to help the healers continue stumbling through. At one point I was tanking cause the healers let both tanks die! At the end I was the only person who didn't die at least once. It was madness!

Usually I can take these kinds of fights in stride cause hey it's just a game but I was already in a bad mood so this just broke me the night lol

On top of that, no commends at all (maybe the /examineself tilted them?) And no doll which was the bigger crime >:|

I should've posted it days ago; just a shout out to my party for Shinryuu nm clear (put up a PF and got a supportive group)

and to my party earlier for Sephirot nm, who helped me clear it through trial by fire xD sometimes I hate how DR catches me unprepared and throws me in unlocked duties that I had to go through them blind. our DRK was amazing.

Even if you don't save it (perfectly reasonable) would you still use it for something else rather than raise even after people are dead? I'm talking several minutes so it would have been off cd a bunch of times even if used constantly.

Was doing Deltascape 4.0 a few days ago. Healer didn't dispell Doom so one DPS and one tank died. They both got mad. Healer's reasoning behind it? "I didn't want you to have higher DPS than my friend."

Just came out of a painfully slow Skalla run with the BLM and DRG blaming each other for having low dps the whole from the first boss till the end. Had a closer look on the last boss and yeah.

Several minutes? Yeah, that's BS. I would never waste such a valuable CD on something of a lower priority. Raise always come first unless the boss is at like 1-2%.

HOW? How is that possible? How is it possible to do <2k in Skalla and your Foul is only hitting for 12k? I mean, even taking into consideration that maybe they were still in lower ilvl gear (300, as a bare minimum) you should still be able to throw out at least 2.5k in there. That just.. I just.. >:( I'm seeing some really bad black mages these days and I'm no means perfect but my last run through Skalla saw my average dps at 4.3k for the whole run and at one point my aoe rotation was sitting at 13K.

So yeah, they both sucked and the BLM has zero leg to stand on. Not familiar with DRG but BLM.. seriously....

The irony was lost on them as they dropped many GCDs to type up dps arguments probably.

Yeah it's fine to post it without names n what not but shows how much effort people put into simple 4 man dungeons, I honestly just want effort it pains me as a War to see both DPS like in this picture, in total doing 3k DPS when i'm sitting at 3600-3900 on a dungeon boss. Even in Stoa EX I had a Drg and a Brd doing 1.7k DPS each with the monk and me top and the blm just under me barely it's not as shocking to see anymore which is the sad part.

And when we say that the average preformance of the player base is very low people think we are exaggerating and jump to defend.

Jumping in to defend. I've been playing quite awhile, and I've really only had a handful of runs where I'll actually check gear/job levels because things are questionable. Yes, bad players are out there, but so are a lot of decent players who dont' t make it into threads like this as it's easier to remember the bad and more fun to talk about.

Last levelling roulette, Aurum Vale. It's probably the dungeon I hate the most in the whole game, which doesn't help, but this was the worse AV run I've ever had, and I had plenty of horrid ones. Right away, tank runs away without protect, which already for me is a big clue that things are gonna be bad. He aggroes pretty much the entire first area, while we lag behind cause others waited for protect. I manage to heal him but it's a huge pain, especially because at 49 tools are very limited. As for trash pulls he goes on that way the whole dungeon, overaggroing, every single hit he takes ttaking almost the whole HP, and even running to aggro another group while 1-2 of the last are still alive. My mana was crying, which hasn't happened in forever, some dps even died on trash. First boss, as expected was hell. I position myself near the same fruit every time, and I do so as soon as I enter so that everybody can pick one also relatively to that. but nope, the SMN decides to place herself exactly on the other side of the room, to be out of reach from my heals. The tank ofc is taking crazy dmg, as is everybody, and positions are such that not even a medica touches everybody. At some point the tank decides to tank in a corner instead of the middle, and the monk has to run back and forth quite a bit to pick fruits, and me to heal everybody and pick fruits. I've seen in time a lot of problems in this fight, but never ever those. Second boss, not even sure what the tank was doing, but it was probably the first time I've seen that one go horribly. Third boss, oh man. Again the fruits and positions problems ofc, but to add to that, the tank decides the morbol has to be directed towards the group. He waits till 7 stacks before picking a fruit, and again instead of picking a close one he goes all the way to a corner, and there stays, ofc with the morbol facing us, not vice versa. I felt very murderous.
Of course I also checked the tank's gear, since I imagined with how much damage he was taking (and he was using mitigation!!) he had to be undergeared, and I was right. He had two lvl50 blues, but the rest was 30-40 whites and greens, and...lvl 5 whites!!!! At 50+! Sigh.

I'll add another horror story, always of last roulette bunch, but this time I'm the bad one who made me rage. Expert Roulette, Hell's Lid, I was super happy because i love that dungeon in everything but in roulette I almost always end up in Fractal. Lag spikes. Big lag spikes. Suddenly. Had this a few times since patch but never this big. I wasn't able to keep up with tank because at time I'd pretty much had screen stuck for a few seconds, so had to use sprint a lot and quickly make up for being behind on healing. I died once at each of the first two bosses,I don't even know how, luckily there was a RDM who ressed me. I pretty much wanted to kick myself, but the group was very nice and didn't seem to mind my screw ups too much, somehow even got comms. But I feel super shameful, even though lag isn't my fault.

And I think I was also lagging earlier at Syrcus, since when you need to hide behind the ice gaol (sorry, don't know names of bosses or skills there, only ran it a bunch of times) I died while behind it already. Which is yet another mark of shame, RIP me. And that's why I try to run alliance raids as dps.

I do understand where you are coming from. But this is not about having slow runs or wipping in dungeons.

I was referring to the issue in general term. The majority of players are under prefomring. If you think that clearing dungeons with no issues means that you had a good party, you are wrong.
Sometimes it is the tank and healer doing all the job while the dps are being carried. The dps end up believing that they did good but in reality they were out dpsed by tank and healer.

So just because there are no wipes/deaths or anything questionable, it does not mean that the players were preforming well.

I run into these types of players everyday and say nothing to them. I just do my part the best way I can.

It is when we open discussions regarding this matter people jump to defend and point fingers.

Was leveling my alt and had to do Tam-Tara, get in with a DRK who is just... bad. He couldn't hold aggro at all, and on the final few pulls he just gave up and afk'd. We ended up kicking him and just finished the dungeon with the MCH tanking, until I pulled aggro from healing. Easy-peasy.

Parser mentality is basically a way for a player/players to nitpick, it stretches beyond if the run was "smooth" or not, to well what did the dps do, what did the tank do, what did the heals do.

It normally boils down to, oh I did more dps then you, so I am better than you so wtf are you doing in my dungeon run scrub? Git Gud.

Not particularly a response to you, but just the mention of 'parser mentality' and how it came about in this particular discussion is gonna spark a debate if I replied that ...doesn't belong in this particular thread.

Well, this is beyond awful. I was interested and did a quick test:

#1 AFK autoattacking for 2 minutes. No buffs/no Ammo/no CDs/nothing.
- resulted in 1200 DPS without any 350 importants pieces (weapon/etc) and some 330.

#2 Autoattacking with 111111111111111111 Split Shot spamming for 2 minutes. No buffs/no Ammo/no CDs/nothing, just "1111 spam" + autoattack.
- resulted in 2880 DPS in 2 minutes timeframe.

And this is single target ^

Which means those BLM and DRG didn't even press any buttons entire dungeon. Even if you press 1111111111111111, your DPS will be much higher.

TL;DR This is beyond awful.

And people still questioned why Yoshida don't want to implement official parser, i.e. he don't want people to see this.
Many people, when meet an obstacle, don't want to improve/solve the problem and simply quits. (which will directly affect $$$ income)

My only defense would be that people tend to exaggerate(whether consciously or via confirmation bias) how many players are in that bottom tier.

Honestly your gear is probly still too good for this test to be totally accurate. I cant speak for a dragoon(i understand how they work but dont play one), but that BLM is probly scraping the minimum ilvl for the zone(based on the strength of their hardest hit). Id be curious how your numbers would look if you swapped your normal gun for something like the Antiquated Outsider you got from your level 70 quest(keeping your armor should be fine).

They both had just over 35k hp so my rough guess would be at around ilvl 330 for the blm.

Sure, no problem. It's 1080 DPS for the first test and 2529 DPS for second. Everything is the same as in previous post. (overall 10% damage decrease for this test)
That aside, at that point in story people should already use 310 set, with some 330 parts mix. Not to mention, you can buy 320 HQ crafted weapon for 500k or around that, maybe cheaper, depends on server.

p.s. But there's ilvl310min for Hell's Lid, i.e. both DRG and BLM was at or above ilvl310. Doubt they used an i290 weapon.

Hmm, so quite often, I'll remove some gear before queuing in order to avoid certain fights by dropping my iLVL. I did that on my trial this morning, but it wouldn't let me put my actual gear back on - even before the barrier dropped.

There's a glitch/bug right now that won't let you use recommended gear or gear sets while in a dungeon. You would have had to equip each piece individually.
