Well Male Viera might not be playable now.
SE needs to stop Limiting things and just make them fully playable. Guess same as BLU Limited by "incompatible gameplay" Male Viera gonna be limited by "incompatible Lore".
Welcome to 2019 my friends, SE gonna limit everything.
I'm 99% sure we'll get male Viera. I think the only reason we only saw the female version of a single clan was because Fran was done already because she was in Return to Ivalice and the rest are still being worked on.
This thread needs a bump.
Never let the BLU dream die!
#FreeBLU
They should have made blue like wow druid and once they got the abilitys they chould choice a role 2 q as
Considering how BLU is relegated as a caster, it would be too squishy as a tank, healer maybe but that would require a far more fleshed out healer kit, White Wind restrictions and such.
The best thing would be to have the Learning mechanic as is, heavily increase rate of learning and needing certain skills to do the Job quest to gain access to dungeons (sorta like how they already do now).
I want Blue in party finder as a dps, tank, and healer.
But BLU being a true support caster is actually a niche that isn't filled by any caster, having access to tons of cc, debuffs and having buffs and a versatile move pool. Considering how easy RDM is to play, I don't see any reason why BLU could get more moves to expand into a rotation (like it currently has one now) and be its own flavour.
But for other roles, at level 50 they barely have more than 5k HP, and even with Mighty Guard a simple sneeze from a Primal, including HM only will kill them. Diamondback? Eats your MP like crazy plus you can't do anything during the duration.
BLU as a Healer? Needs a far heavier kit for Healing, White Wind drains MP if spammed, and still runs dry, HP gain tied to current HP, no raise, no access to healer role actions.
The only truly broken things (massive amounts of cc, percentile damage and an instant kill) are that many bosses are immune to it.
It's still Limited of choosing a role by it needing to fit in the role system, which makes it doubly ironic that it's limited by its own limitation.
So I've avoided commenting on BLU or any other class because I'm still new to the game and barely know the franchise outside of a few elements. But of what I've skimmed, couldn't they somehow integrate the monster skills with BLU's spells? Like maybe make a lot of their magic work by mimicking enemy moves in some way?
For example, if you get hit by a "Fire" attack from a Fire Sprite, then maybe it changes one of your spells to copy that move or something. Their entire skill set could be based on copying monsters, which would if I'm understanding all of this correctly, keep the overall flavor of the class while still allowing it to function well with the rest of the game. They don't necessarily need to use the same exact moves verbatim but have their moves modified based on them.
I could be missing something though. I'll probably play BLU to understand it a bit better, but for me, as someone who doesn't care that much about classes as long as there's something fun for me to play, I wouldn't want to play a class I could only use like it's some kind of mini-game.
Something I don't get about the excuses we get regarding BLU is his DPS power.
Yes, he can learn abilities from Primals, and ? Just nerf the potency to the one of a regular DPS and BLU won't be cheated.
Or just, you know. Give them an actual skill tree that can be used that doesn't include OP status effects? Just have them switch around a job stone to an NPC whenever they want to switch back and forth - you know, like souls of the crafter except not be penalised for doing it. No timers, no having to buy the stone. Etc.
I've never shelved content so fast in my life. I've still not played blu since its first week of release as there is just nothing to do on it. Even as just a stopgap till later they should let it queue for 50/60 roulletes and alliance, its not like that content matters anyway, they are plowed through with reckless abandon in like 10-20 mins, having BLU there wouldn't break anything in its current form.
I agree a lot, especially as for "unbalanced content" they sure do seem to of balanced BLU as equal to other level 50s and without the OP Boss destroyibg skills as well.
Yes, that is how some BLUs in the series learn attacks, by being hit by them in order to copy (which the trailer sorta seemed to referenced, by eating the skills and firing them back at the enemies).
But that is what Blue mage is, learning abd using enemy skills. But they're essentially a mini game with a overglorified weekly roulette for poetics and allied seals to use their skills in (and still enemies in Masked Carnival are immune to the really broken stuff barring a few exceptions like what the sense really?).
Imagine if this system stays, what more jobs are up to the chopping board to be deemed limited? What other fan favourites that has been requested that has yet to be Limited?
The current implementation of BLU and the continuation of it just makes Limited job sound more like a death sentence.
No job should ever become Limited, it breaks jobs people want and makes them dead and unusable. They're perfectly content to keep going with it out of either laziness/spite and force more work later rather than taking the time to overhaul now.
Lets keep the thread going strong! The more people that comment in support, the more awareness that's created, more likely and sooner we can get Limites jobs scrapped and BLU made into a full job.
There were no new healers or tanks added in 4.0 so they could focus on the current ones, yet WHM and DRK still need to wait until 5.0 for adjustments. BLM/SAM only got properly buffed at the end of the expansion and that was potency changes. Time and resources should be diverted to BLU so there can be a fourth caster DPS? You'd still have players unsatisfied. Either BLU is broken and 1-2 of the other casters complain about being irrelevant, or it's weak and is met with "BLU DOA lol". MCH is a full job yet hardly anyone plays it and just like WHM and DRK needs to wait until 5.0 for adjustments. You can't say BLU wouldn't be designed in the same off-putting manner.
Yeah I'd like BLU to be a full job, but I'd also like twice as many EX trials and savage to be extended to 10 floors while having the same amount of content they normally do.
Would love it if they completely overhauled Blue Mage and made it a normal job at this point. It's just not enjoyable after you reach a certain point. Not being able to play through the main quest due to the level cap is also something that pissed me off. I left Blue Mage at level 37, and it's going to stay that way until I see it changes for the better.
So in that case no new tanks + healers? I mean, we'll have 4 tanks come ShB, do we really need that according to you?
Guess what, no job in SB is broken, both DRK and WHM were part of Ultimate worlds first. For SAM + BLM, they just need potency buffs to make them compete in the meta, not for SE keeping things balanced. This isn't PLD in Gordias Savage where you're completely incapable of clearing content till you got carried by the rest of your raid team via gearing up, and that taking one is a complete handicap. No one was taking PLD and they were completely barring and forcing PLDs out the door unless you could DRK. That is completely broken and needs seeing to ASAP. That is more akin to BLUs current situation.
No (full) job needs that adjustment in SB. None. They're all viable, playable and none of them will stop you from completing any content. The only argument you have is in terms of gameplay, but other than that, balance is impossible to maintain without homogenisation.
P.S I play MCH and I love it, flaws and all. You'll always have popular to least popular jobs, otherwise in that case, when Viera is launched got to get rid of Roe and Elezen for popularity then.
Also, Eureka takes up far more resources and time than any job will do. While it's nice to get more content, SE is taking it from every other area to fuel Eureka.
What astounds me is the number of people saying I don't want BLU because we don't need another generic caster/ it'd just be BLM with a blue magic flavour. Are people so creatively bankrupt that they cannot possibly think of unique and interesting ways a caster could work other than the ones they've given us. Here I'll give you a quick idea now which is even BLU relative: A caster that uses 1 second cast time spells, with loads of 1 second cast time spells not on the GCD (Off guard, Peculiar light style) so you then have a caster that is constantly pumping out lots of short casts. Thats just one example too, I hope this "generic caster" argument dies.
Even better is all three of our casters play incredibly quickly. Who is the "generic caster"? Everyone seems to bring up BLM in this but BLM is unique in having the only unlimited resource in the game, a bread and butter of consecutive nuke drops that exceed the gcd with their cast time, and emphasis on location and preparation. No other caster, not even the healers, play like this. Summoner and Red Mage, likewise, have very distinctive methods of casting.
On phone so can't correct. Meant to say "differently" not "quickly"
No matter how the rotation is, it would still be a generic caster.
BLU has 49 skills now, and it will have more at level 60 and 70. To fit the generic jobs, SE should remove almost all of the skills to fit the "around 24 skills only" criteria, and then put a generic rotation that would fit any fight against any kind of enemy, just like the rest of jobs that do exactly the same rotation on any kind of encounter. No matter what content you fight, you end up doing the same over and over again, the only thing that changes are the boss mechanics, so what's the point? Do you really need to destroy BLU to fit him into raid?
BLU is not perfect and needs improvement, and I believe we have yet to see Limited Job's potential at higher levels, but I don't think we need to turn it into a "normal" job. I'd rather to keep it "limited" so in the future we could get new jobs such as Beastmaster and, who knows, maybe we wnd up getting improvements into the overworld to fit these jobs.
Also we were supposed to get a Tank + Healer this expansion, so BLU feels like a bonus job for me.
If they do make BLU "unlimited", I do wonder what changes they would make to it. Specifically, I wonder if they would slap some sort of resource bar on it along with some other gimmick like the rest of the jobs or if they'd leave it as-is, with its main gimmick being that it has skills learned from enemies.
Oh hey its you again.
So if no matter the rotation, it'll still be generic. Right. So Gunbreaker and whatever other class they add will also be generic then. So if your definition of Generic is behaves like a normal job then yes: I want BLU to be a "generic" job, because I would like it to be something i can experience the game with, like my other "generic" jobs.
Also, Limited jobs getting better in the future, does not justify them as they are now. Implement now and patch it later is a horrible philosophy anyway. Going Deeper, okay they add 10 more levels and a new carnival, thats another 2 days of content (unless the rng is terrible), having more limited job doesn't change the fact that what limited jobs can do is horrendously flawed in the first place.
Finally, I see you everywhere commenting that limited jobs could change the overworld. Nah they won't. Other jobs including gathers need to be able to function in the overworld, so limited jobs are going to slot around the overworld, not change it.
Gunbreaker will have new skills and mechanics but yeah, it will end up doing the same rotation on every single boss of every single content, no matter their size, element, weakness etc. I don't mean this is something "bad" because I enjoy playing with normal jobs and raiding, I just say that there's no point in destroying a job that works different and brings something new into the table. There are other casters you can choose to play with, just let us have something new.
That's the true problem. BLU or Limited Jobs need to bring fresh new content, and carnival doesn't feel enough. That's what we should fight for, and not destroying it to fit a content that we already have.
We don't know yet. They hinted Beastmaster in a Live Letter and said the actual content can't fit this kind of job. We should fight against "carnival only" content and maybe we'll get a chance to improve the overworld and get new content.
I think turning BLU into a normal job would be a huge step back. I love this game and don't want it to get stagnant into the same content on every single patch.
Dropping this here.Quote:

It seems 46.3% (EU) / 48.2% (NA) / 53.1% (JP) of total currently active characters have unlocked Blue Mage and 17.8% (EU) / 18.6% (NA) / 27.3% (JP) of total currently active characters have reached level 50 on BLU

Well that census is unofficial so have to take it with a grain of salt, but that doesn't say the community enjoyed it or not.
I feel this is only skin deep, and can just be mis-represented by SE to say BLU is successful, even if it isn't. I do like seeing those at 50 drop massively from pick up, means the content is already dead so SE has to fix.
1. Resources have already been allocated for those jobs. You're asking to take away from other aspects (unless you're asking for a full-job BLU in 6.0) just to be put into the position of having four casters
2. Parties have to take two tanks and two healers. You don't have to take any casters
3. Fewer players roll as tank or healer. If the new tank is the weakest of the four, it's not like they'll be prevented from joining groups. Even after potency changes you still have parties excluding SAM/BLM. They're able to do that because of how many DPS players there are.
1. So you don't want to put in resources for a dead, broken and Limited job and want to invest more into jobs that aren't even broken or absolutely need seeing too. Yes I know the argument for helping DRK and WHM but that's nothing compared to a Limited job. At least you can still main them.
2. Are you assuming automatic party set ups? Why can't I run all 4 Casters? Speed running statics are running 2 Melee DPS and BRD + MCH, guess we don't need any more physical ranged then because 2's enough. Hell, going by that example, Melee DPS shouldn't even have SAM, as that makes 4 MDPS.
Hell, throughout all of FF, people have been solo tanking + solo healing as well. You don't have to follow the standard party set up. The system is flexible.
3. I'll say this. You have probably never experienced Gordias Savage in HW at launch. PLD WAS the weakest tank, and was actively forced out of every party that was serious, unable to clear content till like weeks later, was detrimental to bring into Gordias and had almost no uses at all, being a burden to everyone at all. No job with the exception of BLU even comes close to that right now.
Yes people will still be people and will follow meta like sheep and go hurrdurr, lock SAM/BLM, but these are the very rare groups. That's nothing compared to that. Nothing. Every job is playable, all of them are viable and your attitude seems to consist of "only meta matters, so adjust them on that."
I'll leave this here. At least your job is PLAYABLE and MAINABLE.
