Honey are you really relying on the “join the forums date” I’m a legacy player, i did coils on patch, I lived through my static coming crashing down around me to Gordias
This backlog y’all love to refer to, I did that on patch

So anyway, now that the blonde catgirl can safely be ignored until she finds a way to dig up twitter and screech at her fellow catgirls, I have heard, in no uncertain terms, that Endwalker is the worst FFXIV Expansion that a certain twitch streamer has played to date.
Discuss.
Then quit your subscription untill more content for you is there, like the ones seeking the game due to the expansions.
There is a reason to the numbers on servers go way up high and exceeds the limits due to every expansion release for those that seek content only, you only need to pay for the expansion and a month or two with the subscription of choice.
If you pay to get content, you should pay when it is there, and when the content for YOU, run out, unsubscribe, staying around complaining would make little sense, because it is fact that game developers can't keep up adding in new content, before the players complete the previous content.
But hey, that is your choice in the end?!?
The director even say, take a break play something else.. or something down those lines.
This is a subscription based game. You acknowledge that this is a subscription based game.
If every expansion were to have the same exact lackluster content longevity as Endwalker, we could all just wait until X.5 and get through all of it before the next expansion launch.
Now imagine everyone who was unhappy with the current expansion, waited to buy the expansion and subbed for several months then quit when the next expansion launched. How much profit do you think they would lose?
Now tell me. Is that something you would want to hinder the game's ability to improve? Because people like you completely ignore a dedicated part of the playerbase?
I mean, that's exactly what happens. The vast majority of players resub 1-2 months before a new expansion, buy the new expansion, then play for 2 months before unsubbing and waiting for the next expansion.
Looking at the content too, aside from a foray zone being missing and V/C and IS being added, there is pretty much the same amount of content now as there was in previous expansions as well.
We're a broken record at this point.
It is not the amount of content, it is the implementation of Island Sanctuary, the lack of meaningful incentives for criterion, DD not being a good source of exp for leveling, and even if by deliberate design, the relic being a glorified tome weapon.
It comes back to it becuase there's whining about something that if you look at the data, is not any different than its been in the past. The only difference between endwalker and SHB in terms of patch content so far has really been they replaced the Bozja equivalent with V/C dungeons and Island Sanctuary.
Which is why going way back to my original post in this thread, I think it's a case of people just parroting the streamer's opinion that game is bad, especially since the video linked was formatted and presented in a clickbait way.
It just seems like it's an excuse to trot out the "toxic casualism" bogeyman these forums have used for years at this point, and point to that as why you're specifically not having fun in this game. It's the toxic casuals who are preventing this game from being good, because they, idk what. Shield SE from seeing criticism? Stay subbed even when you're not having fun? IDK.
I mean at this point I don't think you'll ever get the point we are trying to make here.
The content exists. There is literally no way to dispute that. The problem is there is no reason to do it unlike Bozja.
Bozja/Eureka at least has a playerbase, criterion doesn't because there's literally no reason to go back and do it. You could even just buy the mounts off the marketboard if you really wanted and could afford it.
Funny you mention these things because guess what, I did both. I created a Ren faire with a DnD system for jousting. Here’s your proof

I cleared all coils at minimum ilvl but what would you know as taking you at your own words towards other posters, “you’re only someone who started playing in 2016.”
So my opinion is automatically more valuable than yours right? This is what you implied wasn’t it?
But the streamer didn't say that and you just seem to be repeating the point that the amount of content is the same (depends on point of comparison), when the common complaint is about how it's implemented (e.g. trial series being baked into MSQ)/its longevity (and in some cases, the lack of a will to innovate on the existing formula... stuff that is initially enjoyable can grow stale eventually.) You can see e.g. here, here, here or here that these complaints have been persistent. If anything, it is the streamer which is channelling community opinion. So I think you need to retire that claim.
Doubt anyone will see this as it will get lost in this thread pretty fast but.
I use to complain a lot about the negativity in these forums. You know what that does? Creates discussions/arguments like in this thread.
If people want to be negative, just don't engage with them. The moment you engage you create the circling conversations we always see. And this applies to whatever of the two sides you stand on.
Yeah, I agree. I just said negativity since that's how some view it.
I just meant for those complaining about negativity in the forums when complaining about the post is what sets off a lot of actual negative conversations.
Sorry if I suck at explaining myself. English isn't my first language.
But you don't realize the time it take to develop games and content, as well as the people needed for it, you could get 10x the content we get now, but the subscription fee would then have to be 100 dollars per month.
If you look back in time old for old MMORPGs... they had similar cost per month... now 20 years+ later the subscription fee is more or less the same, but inflation and the likes has kicked in, so you are paying less than what you did in the past.
Mention any of the expansion that had a better span in time with the exception of 2.0 of course, due to that was re-building the game.
YOu did not get much more in HW, SB, SHB nor EW, you got some additional modes, and still as of games like this, it does not always round up around the max ilevel and the previous content is still worth playing as well.
As said before you will run into a drought, no matter what and the players is not ready to pay the increased subscription fee that is long over due.
I'm just going to give you what I just said to Verde as a quote, but it essentially would be the same exact response. Which is something that I and multiple others have stated a frustrating amount of times.
What I will add to this is that no, I don't. The bare minimum is I know that making games is hard. That's the coldest an ice cold take can get. I'm not here debating the amount of content.
I've been playing MMO's for 11 years counting now. You don't need to tell me about sub costs.
That being said, how badly do you seriously need to grasp at straws? They add to the cash shop near monthly and you're gonna sit here and spout that we should be paying more when we have no good incentives to run the new content they're bringing to the game, despite giving feedback that they still haven't commented on?
You say this like MMOs haven't found other ways to make up the difference (such as microtransactions) and, despite the comparative market saturation since those times making things harder on such projects, mid- or lower-ranking MMOs (in terms of active player counts, insofar as we can know) still having equal or greater profitability than before. We'd seen even since the likes of Maple Story and Dungeon Fighter Online that subscriptions themselves have usually been a lesser driver of profits than alternative means of revenue.
Well it does cost money and the likes to develop games, and one of the rough things in a business is the soaring wages that have to increase as well, on top of that you need to add growth to the company, if you just keep on undermining the income with inflation and getting lesser in, then it will be more difficult build upon your project, because you would need to save on things, which is lesser staff and more.
It is a very good argument, however they did have an increase in people buying the game and adding to its subscription, so it may not be now, that you would see the problem, but people will get mad at the point it will have to rise to 18-20bucks per month.
Wages usually follow the path of inflation more or less, and usually is the biggest expense for most companies world wide.
I think the issue with EW is a matter of priorities and design decisions. For priorities, they are laser focusing on new player stuff like trust dungeon compatibility at the expense of their veterans. For design decisions, the stuff they HAVE made has zero staying power; you do it once in an afternoon and that's it for 4 months.
Pretty much. I mean, I get wanting to overhaul the new player experience a bit. After this long, it was all but necessary. But as you said, they are kind of forgetting about those who've been around a while that want something to do for more than a day. Island Sanctuary has been okay, in my opinion, but I know it is flawed and understand why a lot of other people might not enjoy it. The main problem is that they aren't even trying to strike a balance.
This thread...
/facepalm
The thread is so long now, that if the last post I read is 4+ pages back now, I don't even read what I missed anymore and only read the current page.
Stop right there. I am calling BS. I read the very exact statement on Overwatch 2 forum, where people were trying to defend Blizzard for making this garbage of a game.
The moment people starts arguing about money - they are out of proper arguments. FFXIV hard carried SE through their NFT controversy and multiple failed games.
They are interested in keeping this game alive, so they are leaping out of all possible bounds to make this game as accessible as possible to get more subs.
But they are doing it horribly wrong. Tuning up the game for accessibility turned into straight dumbing down content, jobs, duites, etc etc.
And because they know that the majority of their players are Mare addicts or venue goers (or both) - they are completely okay with doing that. People will even defend and praise them for it, lmao.
I don't mind the game being more open to players who wants to solo the MSQ, but outside of it - remember that this is a freaking MMORPG, not a bleeding visual novel with some side content.
